Review Tokyo Joe's Sushi Factory - Richmond

Delicious rolls. Black dragon roll has a fancy tail on each roll. Crazy rolls are big and tasty. Tempura were properly cooked, not oily. Will skip yam tempura next time, they were very thin and can hardly taste it.

Ordered e plates for take out including 2 rolls and a mixed sushi. It only took exactly 3 minutes when all the boxes are handed to me(you decide if these rolls are freshly made). Result showed the rice was kind of dry and the shrimp was not fresh. They only accept cash or debit(thought it was a Chinese eatery). I was not happy when they default the tipping at 15% with the pos machine. Why should tipping be compulsory for take-outs?

My cousin lives close to this restaurant so we always buy from here. It's affordable and taste great. Although it's not the best quality, it's really good for the price especially their spicy sushis. Their service is extremely fast, but there is nothing much to say about anything else. The chicken karaage is not that good but still ok. It's a good place to grab good and budget friendly sushis quickly.

I tried the dynamite roll, california roll and inari roll. I expected the inari roll to be the stuffed tofu but this wasn't bad for 4 dollars. The dynamite roll was a little too big and wasn't sliced evenly. The pickled ginger was too sweet and sliced too thick so it wasn't my favourite. Overall it was a decent meal.

Ordered take out. Was ready for pick up in 10 minutes. I got the party tray D. I thought it was a reasonable price for the amount of sushi. I liked it. They take cash and debit only.

Always such good food for a good price. Particularly love their House Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, and Agedashi Tofu. Party Tray B is a good choice for our family of 6.

Great experience, friendly staff, fantastic value. We were walking in the area when we found Tokyo Joe's Sushi and went on a whim, why not? Pricing was super affordable, so we got an entire platter to share. The sushi is high quality, fresh, and delicious. Highly recommended the Beef roll, my personal favorite. My friends said the California Roll was incredible, same with the Dynamite roll. Definitely our go to Sushi for the area now!

I would strongly recommend this restaurant if you are near the skytrain in Central Richmond. Their chicken teriyaki rice plate was delicious. I loved when the staff echoed the orders which was so unique. The staff was very friendly. High turnover makes me trust the food here. The tea and tufu miso that came with my meal was so Yummy! I saw the huge portion size of sushi being served at other tables and the portion size of the hot food was great, see pics. Some improvements should be done regarding the following constructive feedback: - I should have said I wanted it saucy when I placed my order. LoL. The rice plate could use some more not watery teriyaki sauce to finish the rice with. - The salad came with something like a white ranch dressing instead of a clear japanese vinegrette. The customer should be given the option to choose the type of dressing or vinegrette. - My friends prefered a lemon slice instead of an orange slice on the salad for dinner. - The ambiance was not authentic japanese but looked like a fast food joint. - The service was great, eating area was clean, the waiter was knowledgeable and I did not smell anything fishy even though sushi was being prepared nearby. - The yam tempura was 6 slices of white yam, cut into thin slices under 1/8" thickness, each slice was inconsistent and it was overpriced. Not good value for money and I hope this will be addressed to create value for customers. I pulled out the thin sliced yam that looked like a potatoe chip but I was left with more tempura batter than yam. Some spots in the tempura batter was raw because the oil was too hot. The quality of the food leaving the kitchen should have been checked before serving. The chef and food prep staff should be retrained. I am used to the 6 slices of 1/2" thick cut bright color yam not white yam at other japanese restaurants which is better value and cost less than $10. - The hot meals should come with an option of a tempura side which will give a competitive edge. I hope this helps. Thank you.

There was insecticide in the food.
Poison.
I ordered a Shrimp Avocado Salad from the restaurant, Tokyo Joe's on September 20, 2019 at around 20:00 for take out.
Our kids ate some of the cooked shrimp and mentioned a soapy taste. This was odd to me as I love this restaurant and have eaten here for years.
I tasted the shrimp myself and they tasted like it was sprayed by incesticide. I originally thought it might have been just that one shrimp, but all the shrimp in the salad tasted the same.
I have been around insecticide at my workplace. I know what it smells and tastes like. And the shrimp was covered in it.
This is unacceptable. Insecticide is poison. And it was on cooked food.
There should never be an instance where insecticide spray is used on food.
The restaurant, even if unintentionally, poisoned the foods served to their customers with neurotoxins.
It would have been a disaster if the children had not mentioned the taste. As it was, they already ate several shrimp covered in poison.
There are severe long term effects of neurotoxins in the body, especially in kids this young.
I called the restaurant and told them about this. The lady Jun, while apologetic, only said that she will look into this. She said they are training a few new staff due to the back to school season.
No promises that they will discard or at least wash the batch of shrimp in the kitchen.
I'm very disappointed.
I loved this restaurant and frequented.
But I will not return.

Decent sushi but for a place that looks like a high school cafeteria the prices are a little high. Lots of fancy rolls but not that much for nigiri.

I’ve ordered from Tokyo Joes for years and have found lately that the quality and customer service is lacking, The quality of fish (while being abundant) is not cut particularly well and lacks flavour. The rolls are big and have much to much rice and just not really that put together or tasty.

My go to was the salmon and tuna sashimi. I alway ask for a few small containers of spicy mayo and this seems to be asking a lot, given the staffs reaction. I finally asked what’s with the reaction when I order the spicy mayo. I was met with a very rude response from the man on the phone (ordering out), He explained that they “just don’t this!”. Quite a response for a tablespoon or two of mayo and sriracha.

So long Tokyo Joe’s. Hopefully they will miss my 300 dollar a month habit and reform their ways.

Sad that this restaurant has really gone down the drain. Used to be one of our go to places for sushi. Ate here few weeks ago, and our order came out within minutes of ordering. The sushi rolls were cold (like it was premade and left in the fridge). Even the specialty deep fried roll was cold... I expected that to be at least crispy and fresh for $11 a roll.. But it was soggy and cold. What a huge disappointment. Would never go back again.

I was SO impressed by the service offered by this restaurant. The waitresses were really polite to us when we walked in and constantly came back to check up on us. We ordered, and literally less than a minute later, the food was already ready, plated and handed to us.

Tastewise, the sushi is nice, but not exceptionally good. I ordered the SC Roll (8 pieces of cucumber, cream cheese and smoked salmon sushi) and the Chopped Scallop Roll. I enjoyed the SC Roll more because of the cream cheese. The chopped scallop roll was very average; it definitely could have been better. I also tried Maki A, i.e the California Roll and Dynamite Roll, both of which weren't super exceptional to me either.

Would definitely recommend coming here if you are a big sushi fan!

Tokyo Joe’s is one of those local favourites. Everyone in the neighbourhood raves about them. Prior to this visit, we had bought take-outs from Tokyo Joe’s, and we were always amazed by their speedy service. We would order a 30 to 50 piece party tray, and the sushi would be rolled and packed within five minutes!

This sushi place use to be sooo good! Especially their spicy salmon roll but I don’t know what happened to their quality and customer service!! Last year, I ordered by phone at home. Arrived and went up to cash to pay and grab my order, was told it wasn’t ready. I waited on the side where I was in view of the workers so they could call me up when it was done. 5mins go by.. 10.. 15.. go back up to check and it has been sitting on the side for 10 mins!! Why wasn’t I called when I was standing right in front of them??

As for the sushi rolls, their rice is SO mushy and tasteless! It’s like they do not know how to make proper sushi rice anymore. So so disappointed as their sushi use to be really good!

I thought I would give them another shot, so I went and ordered some rolls recently, and it was the same outcome as before. SUPER MUSHY RICE. This will be my last time going here, will not be back anymore.

One time order chirashi don and found the bowl's edge is chipped. I told waitress about chipped bowl. The answer that she gave to me is " Yes, I know." and then she did nothing about chipped bowl. Well poor quality control and service. Food is good

This review is based on a take out order of a sushi roll and two sushi nigiri.
The roll is very average, like what you would find in a food court sushi stall. Very bland and dry sushi rice. The filling was mushy salmon and big pieces of fresh avocado (I appreciated that). The rice ruined it.
The toro nigiri was way too big. The toro seemed like it was meant to be sashimi, but the quality of the fish was poor. It was not buttery at all. Instead it was stringy (serious toro fail), and it would NOT stick on the rice. I had to eat the toro and rice separately because there was no way of picking up both with your chopsticks. Again, rice was poor. Dry. Tasteless.
Overall feels like another Samurai Sushi. Jumbo portions. Mediocre quality.
Picky Diner
I was pretty full after finishing the cheap roll combo, satisfied as my hunger was no longer. I guess I did get what I wanted. With the low expectation, the experience wasn’t so bad. But would I come back to try their fancier items on the menu? I’m not quite sure. For a quick and cheap sushi roll meal in Richmond Central, especially something unforgiven like California Roll or Salmon Roll, Tokyo Joe seems to be an okay choice. But if you want my foodie opinion on the food here, I would say, just think about the value, and it would taste a lot better in your head.

Love this place!! Service is great, atmosphere is nice and the sushi is spot on!! One of the best miso soups I’ve had. Prices are also better than other places in the city.

Artived at 830pm on Saturday night & was told last order @845 pm. Ordered 3 rolls..barely had to wait. Food was tasty, but get there early. Npt heakthy to stuff yiur face in less than 15 minutes..lol.They turned many ppl away becoz the staff literally wanted to get the restaurant closed and the heck out of there.so when do they wash and sanitize the place before the next opening???? We saw two staff members putting on their jackets ready to leave. Not very professional at all.

With so many options for Japanese restaurants I have never thought to dine at Tokyo Joe Sushi. One day I was by chance nearby and decided to dine there. The restaurant is small but despite that, they have a huge selection of sushi. Take a look at their extensive menu here :). It’s a really simple but cute restaurant. There were not many tables but so many servers! (I saw maybe 10 outside?). The employees were dressed in cute Japanese uniforms with those white bands tied around their forehead (soooo cute). Service was really quick, we got our food fast. I would recommend this place if you want is the place to go for cheap and fast sushi. I don’t say that they are the best, but for their price, the food is tasty and they give generous servings. Not to mention they have a self serve miso soup station with garnishes (all you can drink miso soup! 🙂 ).

Stopped by to satisfy my sushi cravings before heading to my friend's house. Had their Tokyo Joe roll (you can't go wrong with avocado and tuna tataki), tried their Soo Special (it's an inari and listed under nigiri), and had an appetizer sashimi. The inari was delicious and surprisingly had no rice in it. It was filled to the brim with spicy tuna!! It was delicious.

Small little place; it was a full house when we went on a Sunday night. There was only 1 server for around 7 tables and boy was she stressed! Overall, the service was quite poor; it was difficult to get that one server's attention! Our food came very quickly as there were 4-5 sushi chefs behind the counter. Rice was soft for both the roll and teriyaki Don. Sashimi was big and delicious! I will come back only to grab a very quick eat or takeout.
DQ
This is your typical Korean Sushi place. Large portions and great prices. There is nothing fancy about the location as it is simply for a quick meal and go!
My go to place when I want a quick fix of sushi. Their party tray are great for dinner as well! Service is very friendly and fast. I'd recommend trying the chirashi Don, comes with variety of sushi on rice.

and I mean, who doesn't love free miso soup?

September 13 2016.
I Tried their unagi sushi/ Toro sushi/ tobiko sushi / prawn tempura/ yam tempura and miso soup by myself after work. I didn't go there for ages. Used to self serve, but they hired more people plus they serve you free miso soup while u sit down.

Had a late lunch here yesterday with a friend on her recommendation. I'd frequently heard Tokyo Joe's name being thrown around whenever I discussed sushi joints with fellow Richmondites so I had to give it a try! The rolls we ordered were: jumbo scallop roll, ackroyd roll, jumbo dynamite roll. and a white tiger roll. The scallop roll was rather underwhelming, but given it was one of the "budget rolls" this was to be expected. The ackroyd roll, labelled on the menu as a "spicy" roll, was also a bit of a let-down given its steeper price. It wasn't very spicy... SURPRISE! Whereas we found the jumbo dynamite (which was HUGE) and the white tiger roll to both be quite tasty! Lastly, we had a prawn tempura; portion size was generous though the fried coating felt a tad under cooked in my opinion. I was definitely surprised by how fast all our food came! Service-wise it was a bit of a hassle flagging down a waitress, yet to be fair we did go at a rather busy time. All in all Tokyo Joe's is a slightly above-average sushi restaurant. There are better sushi places (especially in Richmond), but you can also certainly do worse.

July 18, 2016

I've noticed this place ever since I ate at the other Tokyo Joe across the street which is now called Ramen Izakaya Okawari and finally got to try it today. We arrived here around 8:20PM and the place was full with people and they also had a lot of togo orders ready for pick up.

Service - Terrible. After sitting down, a teenage-looking waiter came with our menus then asked what we would like to drink. We looked through the menu for a while as the items were quite pricey. ~15 minutes later he finally comes back to take our order than asked what we would like to drink again. I gave him a look and said "a tea and a water" and he was like embarrassed cause he then remember he had forgotten. When we received our sushi, I noticed we had a California Roll on there which we didn't order. They had forgotten the scallops on top to make it the Ackroyd roll. Around 8:45PM a lady waitress came by and asked us to pay our bills cause they were closing the cashier. She was super friendly about it. Shortly, after the teenage waiter came by and rushed my friend to pick up the last piece of sushi so he can gather the dishes. He also took away our drinks so after my friend was thirsty. I read other reviews where you were served unlimited miso soup, we didn't get any. We didn't even get offered. Felt like they rushing to close down.

Ackroyd Roll - $7.95. Literally just California Roll with spicy scallop and tobiko on top. I like scallops so this was pretty tasty. Little too pricey IMO.

SSSR Roll - Probably the worst SSSR roll I ever had. There was barely any shrimp filled inside the roll you can see in the first piece of the sushi in the picture. It was literally just like that throughout the roll. My friend got one that only had cucumber, zero shrimp.

House Roll - Also rolled poorly, the first piece as you can see only have ALL tuna. The salmon starts on the second piece.

Most likely will not return.

This place is one of those hole in the wall, zero atmosphere places, but with good, quick, tasty food. They are fast and give you good value. Unlimited miso soup (delicious!) and good sized rolls. Their party platters are a good mix of different rolls and great for sharing.
ShaunM
Solid sushi place. Not high end but great service and tasty rolls. Not a fan of miso myself but pretty cool they have it free.

Dynamite and spider rolls were ridiculously oversized but I don't mind getting messy for good eats so didn't bother me. They held together well enough to bite them in half and pick up the second bite without dropping it everywhere.

Really friendly service too.

Free miso soup yaaaaaaaa!
If you like sushi rolls you'll love this place. Prices are reasonable for the quality. I would have to even say that they are on the same calibre of quantity like samurai sushi or sushi garden. But if you take a closer look and a few bites, you'll know instantly that the quality is a touch better then those competitors. Even the service is nicer lol.

The spicy scallop roll and spicy tuna roll is delicious. Would I recommend this place? Yes, and it's great for take out. As for ambiance inside the place? It's nothing fancy but that's ok. The sushi is decent.
Kuvora
Sushi was decent tasting, so poorly rolled it usually didn't survive the trip from the plate to my mouth. Also had a bad allergic reaction to the rolls I ordered which were only vegetables. Have a suspicion they use msg in their rice. Won't be coming back.

meeting a friend for late night dinner, after a really good appetizer sandwhich in bob's it's good option to go for sushi. i must say the place is quite stealthy, in a way that it's hard to know that it actually exist maybe because the surrounding is not really eye catching as well. the place is rather simple and they do serve free miso soup :D this place is actually the first sushi restaurant i have ever ate in vancouver that give away miso soup when you dine in, so definitely a plus, even though it's not something extraordnary but it's something :) and moving on to the sushi, ordered a couple rolls, and nigiris.

overall the impression that i got is that they are serving for quantity over here, over humongous rolls, which reminds me of samurai sushi, at the same time, their rolls are definitely allright, slightly above california sushi and sushi garden. definitely allright place to grab sushi when around the area
Fork.it
Came to this sushi joint based on a friend's recommendation. Ordered a TJ2 combo (dynamite roll, 5 pieces of sashimi), house roll and the acroyd roll. Spent about $30 and we were both full! Rolls are huge and thickly sliced! Packed with crabmeat, sashimi and tempura. Also, free miso soup to start! Saw other people order a donburi bowl and it looked amazing - we'll be back to try the other rolls!
Charles Daniel
Fast and friendly service, space is limited and sushi is fresh. Fairly pound environment and may not be the best environment for business lunch or private conversation.
Jenny L
The one thing that I can see why people like this place is the portion of the dishes. I mean I have had big portion sushi like sushi nanaimo (which is the same reason why it has high ratings I guess). This place makes sushi/rolls that are even bigger than those. As soon as it arrived at the table, I already had a feeling that it doesn't taste any good by judging the look. I was right. The fish wasn't that fresh and the rolls were stuffed with mostly imitation crab meat. The rice doesn't have enough vinegar and it doesn't stick quite well. I only ate 1/2 of what I ordered and could not proceed any further. Will not return.
Atmosphere 0.5/1
It's a small restaurant, not too shabby nor too visually pleasing. A bit of an average quick sushi takeout or eat in place. The people behind the sushi bar were quick to welcome our group.

Food 0.5/1
Once again average with lots of rolls on the menu. They have huge combos with lots of rolls - with the way they plate I had the distinct feeling of an "all you can eat" sushi eatery. They do have free self serve miso soup!

Service 0.5/1
Umm, I'm not sure if the server we had that day was just new, or did not have a great grasp of English. He didn't make eye contact when speaking, didn't understand some of the questions/answers we gave him, and didn't want to interact unless we flagged him down - and even then he didn't seem very willing to help us out. This area can improve for sure. The people behind the sushi bar were great and super enthusiastic.

Price 1/1
Oh totally great price here. Huge sushi roll combinations and large portions.

Personal opinion 0.5/1
This is an excellent sushi place if you are too lazy to cook and happen to live in the area. I wouldn't necessary travel to come here. The price is great but that's also what you are getting, don't expect to be wowed by the food. The menu only has classics such as California rolls, kappa rolls, udon... Etc. the sushi is not bad though
Raymond's Sushi Adventures
I ordered one of their teriyaki sets, which came with a Miso Soup, a Chicken Teriyaki, and four pieces of sashimi. The Miso Soup was garnished with green onions and tofu. The green onions were coarse and a little crunchy. The consistency of the Miso Soup was quite light, but there was no overdose of salt. If you're a dine-in customer, the Miso Soup is free!
Julian Piezas
Despite the impractical location, 'Tokyo Joe' makes the trips worth while. Undoubtedly, their shining stars are the charismatic staff and service, who are consistently kind and cooperative. Tokyo Joe's has FREE MISO SOUP for dine-in, which definitely elevates the meals. I recommend most of their special rolls, although the prices have been inflated a few times. Nevertheless, I love the food, service, and did I mention free miso soup? This 'sushi factory' has evolved into our go-to (cheap-eat) Japanese place.
Unepetitfoodie
Not too bad for the price to quality ratio. Overall, the sushi rolls are only at average but I would say it's one of the better sushi places in richmond for their lack of sloppiness.
Richardpham
To expensive. This place is way to expensive for the location and food I do not recommend this place if ou want a good meal there's plenty of places better and cheaper then Tokyo joes I think it's rediculous I don't know what ppl are thinkin save your self some money this place isn't worth it
Jenn
One of my fave sushi joints!. Tokyo Joe's is definitely one of my go-to places for sushi. Delicious food, good prices, quick and friendly service- what more could you ask for? I've also found that other sushi places don't offer rolls as appealing as Tokyo's Joe's. Their Crazy Roll is my absolute favourite- probably the best roll I've ever had- and keeps me coming back again and again. Consistently good food and service will have me recommending this to all my friends.

Train your people. I opened a urban spoon account towarn customers about this restaurant's service. I took my wife on a dinner last night because she was having problems and we chose this place we always wanted sushi but never went before. The waitress unfortunately is not trained at all and has no standards. She claimed she recognized me and comes to the table with a big smile and said Hellooo how are you? I think I recognize her from the oriental spa I sometimes go for relaxation and body massage but she is crazy or what? Disrespecting me and my wife by proclaiming she knows me. I thought those places are discreet and you are not going to announce to the public and specialy my wife you know and I visit the oriental spa. I am MARRIED. I am never coming back and my wife knows I am not the kind of man to cheat on her with the oriental women. TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE
Down East Foodie
Terrible Service. I sat at the counter and waited and waited to be noticed and get a menu. I finally had to go get one myself. Then after trying to get the server's attention for some time so I could place my order, I got her attention as she walked past and asked if I could place my order. She told me she was going to take another table's order first and walked off. She then went on to take the orders from 2 other tables of people that came in after me and never did come back.

It was the rudest service I have ever experienced. I walked out without ever being able to order.

Don't even think about coming here.. Maybe my tastes have matured, or maybe Tokyo Joe has really worsened in quality, but I definitely don't remember being this displeased the last time I came here. Low quality, high prices (if I knew beforehand that I would spend less at Suika than here for lunch, I wouldn't have even considered coming), and the rolls are definitely more disgusting than I remembered them to be. The fish was still frozen on the inside of my sushi and three pieces of sushi later, the STOMACH ACHE kicked in. Good luck to future patrons.
Foodie604
Delicious brown rice sushi. Tried their tokyo joe roll and volcano roll with brown rice yum!! I was craving it for days after!
Pepchoo
Good Sushi. Stopped in here 2 order takeout. Went with Cali-combo, Dynamite combo, Toro Nigiri + Fire Dynamite roll. Everything was fresh N tatsy. Only criticism is that their over-sized rolls are tuff to eat (in 1 pc) and had tendacy to fall apart

Looks like a fast food place but makes up for it in service and food quality.
Nigri (raw fish) portions were big.
All food looked and tasted great.
Recommend it.

Hole-in-the-wall appeal. .... Hole-in-the-wall appeal.

Initially sceptical, due to the decor and lay out. The adage "Don't judge a book..." is highly applicable in this instance.

The warm yet enthusiastic greeting lets you know you are in the right place. There for take-out, the Tuna-and-salmon combo, with an Ebi sunomono, was SHOUTED back and forth between the owner and staff. Within minutes I was armed with a white bag of yummy goodness!
Critiquing the food, the combo was decent, and value for money. The Ebi I found pricey, and not much too it.
All in all I will probably return if in the area again.
3/5...

Best sushi place in Richmond, the staff is very friendly and the food is amazing
Alex
Friendly staff, ok food. The staff were very friendly and talkative. The prices are okay and the food is normal. I ordered salmon sushi, ika (squird) sushi and chopped scallop cone. The salmon and ika is fresh but the chopped scallop, not so much. I also ordered their small udon with 8 cali roll. The udon was great but the cali roll, too much rice vinegar and the rice is quite plain. not much "rice" taste. Maybe the rice is not good quality rice? Don't know. but overall was good. my 2 cents.

I ordered take out, bad idea. Was goin on user reviews also a bad idea. I had ordered several rolls which were big portions but very low quality. I also ordered salmon sashimi, very bad quality of meat even though it was a big portion. I will never eat there again!!!!!
Imonaplain
This place is really not that good..... Don't be fooled by the reviews....if you know what high quality Japanese food is supposed to look and taste like you would know that this place is a complete joke catered to "American" style taste buds. Just order their tempura and look at it, I wish I took a picture of it because it must have been tripled battered and fried, the ratio of batter to yam (or sweet potato which is what they used) was about 7:1, I had a good laugh. Everything is poor AYCE quality, from the MSG-loaded imitation crab to even the wasabi and ginger! Sashimi and sushi was fishy tasting and fruit flies kept landing on our food cause the whole place was caked with filth!

The place is also run by Koreans who are very friendly and hard working, they do a good job in keeping their clientele amused but they purposely talk in a way that would make them seem like they are speaking Japanese which I know many Japanese-Korean restaurants train their staff to do. Great place for people looking to have some non-authentic over-sized "fushion" food but not for me thanks!

Worth every Dime. Affordable, Great Food, Awesome Service, what more can you want. Absolutely love this place. No complaints at all. Everything I ordered from the menu was perfect. Currently my favorite is the Salmon on Fire! mmmmmm. This is my number one restaurant.

Love the food and the staffs. I think the first time many years ago when I first try out this restaurant, I was overwhelmed by how
friendly the staffs were to me.

The food are always good, not expensive, love the unlimited miso soup. It's always good to come here
for a quick quiet meal, enjoy my quiet time during my errands :)

Try it :) -- When you entered the restaurant, they know, and so when you about to leave the restaurant, they also know.. haha. If you know what I am staying, pretty unique place.

Great food! Relaxing. Excellent service! A great deal. Great date night or family dining.

SASHIMI IS HUGE!!. I'm from Victoria and I would take the ferry over just for all you can sushi at times. My friends brought me to this place and this place is awesome! The environment is unique its like a cafeteria style and the servers and sushi chefs yell out your order which is just shows how much energy they all really have! Food is cheap and quality is a lot better than many all you can places in Vancouver!!!
Hitting The Sauce
Even better than before. Recently visited again - and what an improvement. Don't know if its because I've lived in Calgary for so long now but the food taste better than ever. I even exclaimed to my bf that the fish 'tasted like the sea'. All this from a tiny little restaurant. We sampled a few simple rolls and nigiri. The freshness of the fish really showed thru. Plus the sushi rice was perfect - each grain was cooked perfectly with just a bit of sweetness.

-----03 Oct, 2011-----

Reliable. I tried to order first from Temaki, Sushi Village, Toshi , but every place was closed on Sunday. Picked up a platter (B) plus tempura. Feed more than five people. Not bad at all - it was fresh and well-made. The rice was fine and the cuts of fish were fresh.

Good place and good value. This restaurant is hidden between two larger complex thus you may easily miss it. The service was great, although there was only 1 server who also acts as a cashier. You serve yourself (free) miso and tea counter. The portion and the quality of the food was good, taking into consideration the price. I definitely would come back. Overall experience: thumb's up
Yulia_m
Best sushi. Always tasty and fresh! Great service and value.
Bkinny Sitch
Mmmm good. Wild salmon sashimi is so good and spicy tuna sashimi is delish!!!! My main items that I alway get. And it's so cheap for what u get. My kids like this place and that's a plus. It is owned by Koreans so I can't say it's authentic but never judge a book by it's cover.
Smart_ballerina
Decent and reasonably priced sushi in Richmond. Service is quite friendly and food is prepared quickly. I ordered take out of california roll, tuna tataki salad and seafood okonomiyaki. They have california roll special after 2pm where you can get 2 california rolls for $6.
The california roll was pretty good, I thought it was a good rice to filling ratio (not too much rice). The tuna tataki salad was pretty average. I didn't really like the okonomiyaki because it was quite bland and I couldn't find any seafood in it.

Overall I would come back here for the sushi if I was in the area. Prices are reasonable. I like how they have pictures on their wall of menu items - it helps with deciding.

Great Experience. Amazing food and an awesome overall experience! The employees were super friendly, the portions were good and fresh. Probably the best sushi restaurant in town.

Had diarrhea about 2 hours after eating here, haven't had diarrhea in over year. One of the servers was very annoying, chefs looked disgruntled about something... kicked me out of there 15 minute parking spot. Food was meh, way too much imitation crab in their rolls. Sad to see this restaurant so highly rated. 1/10

Favorite sushi place in the lower mailand.... Love it!

Cute cafe type place. Small little place. you can help yourself to free miso soup and tea if you please. the food comes out fairly quick and its decent for the price. i'm not a fan of fake crab meat tho, and sometimes the sauce the drizzle on the rolls are to sweet for my liking but its not a bad place to try out. and for the price of the sashimi its good especially wild salmon. mmm...

When I saw a family of ladies and small children walking on before me I knew this small unassuming shop had to be good. It was truly the best sushi we've had to date. The value is outstanding and the service is friendly

I am a very picky Japanese food person, the only place I've been faithful to is takeya sushi! This place is awesome because a) it's operated by Japanese ppl so it doesn't taste like all that Chinese tinned Japanese places all over Richmond b) the sockeye salmon is soooo red and fresh, the freshest! C) free miso soup! Unlimited amount!

Fresh delicious and friendliest service ever!

The best fresh sushi. We eat here about 8 years and the food is so fresh here. Can't compare with other places

Sushi places in Richmond are like Starbucks Coffee in Vancouver… They are everywhere! So it can seem overwhelming when trying to decide where to go. If your looking for a fast, cheap, and casual sushi place Tokyo Joe’s Sushi Factory is your stop! They offer various appetizers, rolls, and bowls. There prices are reasonable and the fish is always fresh! Today I got the California roll with mango and the Rainbow roll with brown rice. I also ordered the ebi sunomono, but they forgot about it (they would have made it as it can be prepared quick, but my roll had already come so I was ready to dig in). The mango california roll was your usual california roll except with mango. The mango was sweet and full of flavour. The rainbow roll had tuna, ebi, salmon, and avocado on top with a teriyaki drizzle. The sushi was very fresh, and service was fast. It came with quite a bit of avocado inside which is my favourite! The roll was enough to satisfy my sushi craving! Tokyo Joe’s is one of my favour

The sushi menu has a ton of variety, and the miso soup is indeed free, but that’s not why I keep going back. The environment feels very homely. The staff make an extra special effort to make you feel welcome, and that is why this sushi place is so unique. Instead of just service, they provide service with a smile, and maybe a hug if you ask for it. This makes for a very good place to eat sushi if you’re stressed about anything, or would like a comfortable meal without the pressure of a high-profile environment. Most importantly, the food. The sushi is quite typical of what you would find anywhere else, but for the price, you really do get more than

Does the sushi at Tokyo Joe’s Sushi Factory deliciously flow down your throat, or should you spray some butter before diving in? Read on to find out...

Yes, I gave this roll a perfect 5 stars haha! This was probably one of the best "fusion" type rolls I've had in a while! At first I was a bit sceptical...uh, gomae in a sushi roll?

spicy salmon roll again and bulls roll ($6.95): probably one of my favourite rolls here which is beef teriyaki, prawn tempura and crab meat. all my favourite things jammed into a sushi roll!

I've been to Tokyo Joe's Sushi Factory numerous times before, and my parents often buy take out from there. The place is Korean owned, and the workers there are super friendly and enthusiastic! I really do enjoy coming here because the sushi is fresh, the portions are very generous, and it is reasonably priced. There is also free miso soup and tea which is a plus as well. There are a lot of specialty rolls, and I will continue coming back to try new ones each time. I recommend anyone to come for a quick and satisfying lunch or dinner! C:

Eating here is actually a lot of fun. The waiter/waitress repeats your order out loud, and another staff repeats it even louder, until eventually the sound waves make it to the kitchen where the chefs yell out the order again as a sign of acknowledgement. The first time could be startling, but after getting used to it is fun.

The first few times I went to this Korean-operated Japanese food joint, I really liked it! I was blown away by the huge portions, decent quality and the awesome and cheerful service every single time I visited. But after a few times, I realized that the quality of the food is really lacking, its quantity-over-quality here for sure, and the fact that prices aren’t especially cheap makes me fall out of love with it. Miso soup was self serve and complementary. I was never a big fan of miso-soup but there’s free all-you-can-drink miso soup here for those who love it! We got the Philadephia roll $7.50 (cream cheese, smoked salmon, topped with avocado) because I can’t get en

Tokyo Joe’s is a much better alternative to Banzai for cheap sushi in Richmond but that’s about it. If you’re craving legitimate sushi, you need to cough up the money. When it comes to the quality of sushi and sashimi, you get what you pay for.
Constant Cravings
And even worse, the mango in the mango roll was really mushy and it just looked really unappetizing. Also I thought the mango would be on top of the sushi. Although since it’s not mango season I don’t know why we ordered this… so I was a tad disappointed.

The Spicy Tuna Sashimi was a great balance between spicy and fresh and the pieces of cucumber gave a nice crunch to the otherwise soft dish.

Was looking for a cheap sushi place and I found this. I heard about Tokyo Joe’s from a couple of colleges, so I thought I would give it a try. Half size tuna and salmon sashimi – fresh. Not sure if it is because I went with a boy but there is a heart in our sauce!
Every Day Is A Food Day
They always have extremely friendly service, with all the employees greeting you with Japanese upon entering and leaving. It’s also extremely busy during lunch and dinner hours, and they are also known as a great place for take out. I got my usual favourite - Salmon Maki and Chopped Scallop Roll . They were both as usual, quite average, but not terrible. They are always consistent with their food, and although they are nothing fancy, they are the right quality for the price of the food. Overall, great place for a quick meal! Text Post 21 minutes ago #Richmond #Japanese #Sushi ‹ Previous Classy by Gabrielle Wee . Powered by Tumblr . The tuna itself had a sweet spicy taste to it (I don't know whether sriracha was involved, but I wouldn't be too surprised!)

Their Rolls are creative and delicious, they are always busy whenever I am there so to me that's a good sign. There's absolutely no ambiance to the place but it's not a bad thing because the servers make up for it by being very friendly and eccentric.

We enjoyed a really delicious sushi meal at Tokyo Joe’s Sushi Factory in Richmond BC Canada (a suburb of Vancouver Canada).

Overall, I thought the quality of the sushi was quite high, considering they were not very expensive. The rice had a good balance of sweet and acidic vinegar flavour. My only critique would be that the reverse rolls weren’t wrapped tightly so some pieces kind of fell apart as I took a bite. We will definitely return for a quick sushi dinner.

Tokyo Joe's was a pleasant surprise for me. It's right around the corner from my workplace, and the sushi was surprisingly good for a take-out place. Dwhit from Urban Spoon said that Tokyo Joe's is run by Japanese, and I've heard the same rumor myself fro

Friendly service! The style of food is similar to that of Sushi Town and Sushi Garden with Korean chefs as well. But Tokyo Joe is more of a self-serve kind of place (like Sushi House) but they have complimentary green tea as well as miso soup (with tofu a

It’s not even “decent” sushi, it’s better than good! And on top of that, it’s cheap! Spicy tuna is the thing to order here!

A rainy Vancouver day calls for some hot miso soup~ We visited Toyko Joe’s because friends said that they have cheap eats with pretty good quality. So of course we wanted to give it a try~ The server was super friendly and promptly served us green tea and

Tokyo Joe’s is one of those place we would have never been to up until a few weeks ago. Our boys love sushi but the thing is, Suanne hates sushi. We are trying to get her to learn to love uncooked food so that we can visit more Japanese restaurants. Believe it or not … until today I had never been to a Izakaya before and ironically Suanne had. She went to Guu in Aberdeen. In other thing that prevents us from giving Tokyo Joe’s a second glance is the name. It’s full name is Tokyo Joe’s Sushi Factory. The words “Joe” and “Factory” just does not evoke images of quality sushi.
