I love their dim sum! Reasonable prices and fast service! I think they have high quality dishes and in great quantity. Although you have to wait if you didn't make a reservation, the food is worth it!
Boss Lady approved of the Tofu Roll ($5.95). The fried tofu casing was crispy and light. The pea tips were noticeably vibrant and flavourful.
I was glad to pick Fisherman’s Terrace for dim sum. There were no flashy new dim sum dishes on the menu, but the classic ones were all very nicely prepared: the Hargow (shrimp dumpling), the Beef Rice Noodle Roll, the Bean Curd Roll, and the Radish Cake. They even have some of the classics that can’t be found at most dim sum joints such as the Sesame Roll. And the price was surprisingly reasonable, all dishes were around $5 or $6 when most of the restaurants nowadays are selling dim sum dishes up to $8 to $10. Highly recommended!
FISHERMAN’S TERRACE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT is a Cantonese Restaurant located in 3rd floor Aberdeen Centre, Richmond, BC. It offers traditional dim sum and upscale Cantonese fare. I went back to Vancouver to visit my friends and familee last week. My Chinese friends took me to this restaurant for Dim Sum. The restaurant was busy for Dim Sum. We arrived the restaurant when it just opened. But, it had already lined up. Luckily, we had a reservation, so we did not wait for while to get into the restaurant.
Inside the restaurant was very nice and clean. It has very Chinese tradition design and decoration. All the dim sum plates on the menu are in Chinese. The server brought the menu to the table once we were in the restaurant.
We sat and waited for all the friends here to order the food. We ordered:
Rice Rolls with Chinese Donut
Salted Egg Yolk Buns
Shark Fin Soup Dumplings
Tofu Skin/ Curd Rolls
Steamed Chicken Feet with Special Sauce
Pan Fried Eggplant with Shrimp Paste
Steamed Rice Flour Rolls with Prawns and Yellow Chives
Fried Flat Rice Noodles with BEEF Toro Slices
After we ordered food, we waited for our food a while. Our food came out the kitchen dish by dish. All the food were very fresh and well cooked. All the dim sum dishes were the same taste as many other Dim Sum restaurants (Nothing different). I would say that my favorite dish would be Shark Fin Soup Dumplings. Because I love soup and this dumpling soup combination, which is great and tasty. It was my first time eating at this place. It seems to me, is a very fancy Chinese Restaurant. The food was decent. The servers were nice and friendly. In summary, we had a great Chinese Style Brunch at FISHERMAN’S TERRACE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT.
This restaurant really sparked the love for dim sum I didn't know I had. I loved the Beef Tendon, Mini Sticky Rice in Bamboo Leaves, Rice Noodle Wrap, Shrimp Dumplings. The venue is busy, noisy and the queue is long, but it's well worth it for the food.
Place is crowded and noisy and tables are close together. If you can get past that, then you are in for an authentic high quality dim sum treat ! Shrimp dumpling Har Gao are delicious. The dessert black sesame and white almond "black and white" gelatin dessert was good. The chrysanthemum pu'er tea compliments the meal nicely.
Likely some of the best dim sum in metro Vancouver. Tad pricier but worth it, great selection and the service was good.
Also had dinner here recently and it was also pretty good.
One of my favourite places to have dim sum in Vancouver is Fisherman’s Terrace Seafood Restaurant. I’ve been so many times over the years but their quality and taste has been consistently outstanding, refined and delicious. In addition, with their floor to ceiling windows, it’s an open, bright dining space. The restaurant is very popular so be prepared to wait during the weekends, and especially so on big occasions like Chinese New Year. A reservation is definitely recommended or go early!
Fisherman's Terrace Seafood Restaurant is tucked away on the third level of the Aberdeen Centre in Richmond. I was quite impressed with the service we received here. Our waiter was very attentive, despite how busy the restaurant was, and our dim sum came out quite quickly. I was happy to see that all the dumplings were much larger than dumplings served at other dim sum restaurants. Over all, the food and service was great. I'd love to come back here the next time I'm in BC.
I rarely eat Chinese food that often, it's either too oily, too much MSG that makes me feel sick or preservatives. I think the profusion in 4 am Chinese congee houses during my clubbing days have caught up to me and now I only crave for it when I am drunk or when I want the best of the best Chinese dishes. Lobster in cream sauce, fine dining dimsum, king crab with garlic, peking duck, abalone, suckling pig..
... This last visit, we went for their seafood set dinner.First came a seafood bird’s nest soup. The flavor brought me back instantly to Chinese banquets that I used to attend growing up in Hong Kong — it had the same flavor as the shark fin soup, except with scallops and shrimps and bird’s nest. Yum!Then, lobster with an addictive salt and pepper flavor, and fried, bone-in chunks of halibut with soy sauce.Lobster was meaty and sweet, I wish there was more! With lots of onions, the halibut was very savory but quite bony. The vegetable dish was pea vines with mushrooms and abalone in a classic oyster sauce...
We went today, Friday at around 12. There was a line ahead and she told us it would be around a fifteen minute wait. Which was accurate.
Service was nice; as long as you can speak Cantonese, you'll be fine. I started off with English and it was already a hassle to try and get a table under my name. During the dining time it was easy to get a hold of servers to get replenishments.
Food was satisfactory, they must have changed chefs or something because my old favorites have become "meh". Ie. The chicken feet. Usually they'd be cooked with black bean but this time it was nuts? The only thing that was really good was the preserved egg and pork congee.
All in all- I'm still on a hunt for amazing dim sum in Vancouver.
Ordered way too much food, but managed to finish more than expected because it was pretty darn good!
Place is beautiful, and dim sum is similar to any other dim sum place. I really liked the congee here!
We took visiting family to Fisherman’s Terrace for dim sum Saturday morning. This place is located on the top floor of Aberdeen Mall in Richmond so parking will be hectic if you don’t go early. Luckily, our reservation was at 10:30am, so the dreaded parking lot was still mostly empty when we arrived.
Monthly dim sum club is back and better than ever! This month we decided to check out Fisherman’s Terrace in Aberdeen Center after it was recommended to us by a friend of Clumsy’s (this week she was sporting a bandaged wrist from spilling boiling agarose on it…). I’m going to warn everyone in advance that somehow despite being born and raised in Richmond, dim sum is probably the cuisine that I am the least familiar with. Although I read blogs on it all the time and can name all the dishes, I’ve somehow only been to dim sum maybe three times in my entire life. I truly have no idea why this is, other than that most of my friends are alcoholics like me, and so when it comes to weekend brunch we always choose somewhere that serves drinks. Whatever the case, keep in mind that I basically have no idea what I’m talking about when I discuss most of these dishes.
This is easily one of the most consistently good Dim Sum and Seafood resatuarants in town. The fact that it can draw the crowd that it does despite the slightly higher prices is a testament to that. Nothing really outside the box here, just classics done right although special mention goes to the the Chili Garlic Crab.
It's one of my regular dim sum place to go. Service is better than other and line up is usually within half an hour. Price is above average and portion got smaller. Overall is good.
Decent pricing, good food!. Went here for dim sum on a Tuesday, without a reservation. We came in at around 2pm, but 'last call' is at 2:30pm and we were gently told that they would begin cleaning up around 3pm (for dinner service). This was fair enough, and food comes at a good pace!
We ordered 4 items: (We are light eaters)
- Rib & oyster congee
- Har Gao (shrimp dumplings)
- Shrimp rice noodle roll
- Some other rice noodle roll
The congee was flavorful; I normally dislike oysters, but I can recommend this dish. The Har Gao are made well, have a high shrimp content, and the filling is not really processed (just chopped a bit) - Some cheaper restaurants mix too much filling into the Har Gao, but this was not the case at Fisherman's Terrace.
The two noodle rolls were good - thin, not too much noodle, cooked nicely. Plenty of shrimp filling inside. I don't remember what the 2nd noodle roll we ordered was, but it was good. We were full by the end of this, and could not finish the congee.
Service was fine, and as I mentioned earlier, food came out at a good pace. Pricing was very fair, as this light dim sum for two ended up being around $20 before tips.
....... Okay ??????. Okay, this restaurant is good. Food is okay. You have to wait 30 minutes even if you have a reservation. Very cheap.
Went for dimsum at 11am. Very busy and seems very popular. I found it to be alright but expensive.
Traditional. Came here for a wedding once and dim sum numerous times. good dim sum....hate the crowds....but u can't avoid it whenever you crave dim sum. convenient underground parking.
Solid banquet food, not as good as Kirin though!. Came here for a banquet, and can say everything was good. Was anything spectacular? No. Maybe it's just that I'm very picky when it comes to Chinese food. Maybe it's that I always compared chinese food establishments to Kirin. Neverthless, OK.
Current favourite. Our current go-to place for dim sum. It's not cheap dim sum, but even the "cheap" places have raised their prices lately so it's not that bad, price-wise.
Food: the char-siu pastries and steam buns are the best thing here. Not normal dim sum fare, but a must-have here. The har gow has good pieces of shrimp inside, and the siao mai is not overly chewy. Beef balls are tasty with enough bounce. All-round solid dim sum!
Best dim sum. Went for dim sum and this has to be one of the best places in richmond. i love shrimp, and the shrimp here were very large and well prepared with a nice toothsome texture (only 1 dish had squishy prawns, but i'll give the kitchen the benefit of the doubt on this one). deep fried dishes weren't greasy, and steamed dishes weren't over steamed/mushy. the service wasn't as good as a high end western restaurant, but for a chinese place service was attentive and polite. the room is attractive, and the tables aren't all crammed in together. it's a very nice place to take someone who loves shrimp, and might not be open to the greasy, noisy dim sum places that dominate the market. can be quite busy - a sign that this place is a value, even though it certainly isn't cheap.
GREAT dim sum!. We enjoyed a lovely meal here last week: we ordered the sweet & sour seafood soup; yummy! Steamed pork buns-- wonderful but our favorite was the shrimp spring roll. That was delicious and I would LOVE to eat here again soon!
Delicious. Dim sum is one of my favorite types of meals. Coupled with great company, it could turn out to be a really memorable time. What I love about this place is that being in a Chinese mall in Richmond (which means they are almost always open, even for holidays) I can go to great dim sum which takes credit cards (most are cash only) and the food is actually delicious.
From the wide variety of things we've ordered during my visits, I only remember the ones that stood out to me. The deep fried taro does not look attractive (because it kinda looks like a deep fried mini sea urchin), but once you bite into it: absolute yumminess. The custard buns are sweet and tasty. They are small little puffs with a sweet filling. The steamed shrimp dumplings are simple but could be and quite heavy (because of the outside layering, I don't know what to call it). The spring rolls are crunchy and (I love deep fried food) and also has shrimp (I LOVE shrimp). There was also a dish that consisted of beef folded in some sort of a steamed pastry which is also tasty. There was some sort of sauce drizzled on top, which made it quite a savory dish. I also tried a little egg custard in some sort of pastry; light and sweet, it is perfect for the end of the meal.
My absolute favorite: the deep fried shrimp balls. Crunchy and loaded with shrimp, it is so yummy alone or dipped in the spicy sweet sauce.
I've never had dinner here before, and I'm reading mixed reviews on both dim sum and dinner. Based on my experience, dim sum is good! Service is quite fast and the servers are nice and friendly. The huge restaurant can be loud at times, but seeing as its dim sum that is a given. The bathrooms could be cleaner, but it's not really dirty. Just a little messy. I love the huge mirrors in there though.
Would I come back? Definitely. Although I think it's a little pricey. But I would recommend this place to my friends and family.
Best dim sum in richmond! 叉燒酥 a must try
Favorite spot for dimsum. Just visited for dinner - definitely up to the high standards it has set for lunches. Price may be a tad high but I think it's worth it :)

I come here at least twice a month, and the food and service have never disappointed our party. I've been to cheaper places where the food don't compare, but even more expensive places like Sun Sui Wah or Kirin aren't providing as decent food and service as experienced at Fisherman's Terrace. Hands down the best place for dim sum in GVRD.
Great Dim Sum, But always busy. This is one of the best place for dim sum in Vancouver. If you dont want to wait for long, make sure to get there before 11:30am, especially on a weekend. Also, the service is not so bad, and the quality and choice of dim sum are great.
My friends have dined here for 10+ years. I agree with many of the reviews here that dim sum is a bit pricer than other local places but the variety of dishes overall are well done and worth the price. For example, dinner at the Fishermans Terrace over the ladt few years has always been enjoyable, especially with the warm personal touch and hospitality given each time by Simon the restaurant manager. My friends have been dining here for 10 years at we can see why. My wife says the BBQ duck is especially well done with crispy skin and not too greasy. And we order BBQ duck quite often In other Greater Vancouver restaurants... :)
Best Quality Dim Sum and Dinner in Richmond. My Vancouver Brother-In-Law, Simon always takes us to Fisherman's Terrace Seafood for Dim Sum and Dinner. Their service and quality of food are always consistently superb, does not matter which day in the week. It is high class Chinese Food place.
Great food and location. Another great place for dim sum in Richmond. I particularly liked their "yee mein". Service is great, food is great... there is really nothing NOT to like here!
Good food in comfortable surroundings. Dishes are delicious and well prepared. In addition to dim sums, we order lobster porridge which comes in a wooden pot. If you are a regular there, you can request dishes not in their menu like roast duck or bbq meat rice, fishhead soup .. but don't say I told you so. :p
They have the usual Cantonese fares for diner. My favorites are Aberdeen style or 'pek fong tong' dungeness crabs and Alaskan crabs; followed by steamed fresh fish.
Solid Quality & Ample Seating. For the uninitiated when it comes to dim sum, the bright, airy feel of the interior space, and apparent familiarity with non-Chinese speaking customers, FTS is a welcome spot. A recent visit with folks who had flown into town in the early morning provided a great chance to try out the offerings here, and we came away stuffed and satisfied.
Good food, very expensive. We went here for my cousin's wedding celebration and the food was very good. We had the fish and shrimps and stuff, it was nice. The setting of the place was very very nice and fancy, and the servers were very professional. Lots of parking at the Aberdeen centre, so that's convenient.
Busy doing lunches. Even if you make reservations, expect to wait. A bit over priced compared to other dim sum locations. Their shredded chicken dish is good.
When MichSaiGowBao and DimChum both showed me this article about the best dim sum places in Richmond, I knew I couldn’t ignore it. Normally I don’t put much value in these sorts of articles but since Fisherman’s Terrace was listed first, and we hadn’t been there in quite some time, we decided it we’d better go and remind ourselves ...
Fisherman’s Terrace was packed when we came on a Saturday morning but luckily, my friend had made a reservation so we were seated fairly quickly. They give you a menu to check off the dishes you want (no carts). There were five of us so we went to town...
Fisherman's Terrace is a Seafood and Dim Sum restaurant located on the third floor of Aberdeen Centre. I would have never found this place if I hadn't call them prior. I've been to Aberdeen well over two dozen times, but I have never noticed this restaurant. It's tucked away in the corner on the third floor, far from the main shopping/food court area. Fisherman's Terrace is really popular among the asian community in Richmond. The restuarant itself is quite large, as wedding banquets are held here. The decor is quintessentially Chinese, with a red and gold theme throughout. The service here is severely lacking. the servers don't even crack a smile, and look annoyed when you ask for a extra soy sauce or fork. I found yarn particles in my mango pudding! When I notified the manager, he didn't even apologize! In fact, he even wore a face of comtempt and merely exchanged the pudding for a new one! Considering that this place is priced above average Dim Sum restaurants, you'd expect better se
Oh my! This buns make me stop paying attention to everything around me. A panda bear could be crying besides me trying to hug me and if I have one of this beauties in my hand, he would fall sleep waiting. Aaaawww! Well maybe not a panda but any other living thing.
Opened seventeen years ago, Fisherman's Terrace's classic decor remains modern and spacious because of its high ceilings, glittering chandeliers and large windows that bring in natural light.
Everything I tried was very delicious and I would definitely return for more. Mango pudding is a must. :) Will be returning.
I was so excited to go for dim sum. This is our favourite place for dim sum ever. The taste is just really appealing to us for some reason. Very nice flavours time and time again. I also just finished renewing my learner’s license so I was pumped to go eat. Cousin Jason was hungry so we started with the 南翔小笼包. That was just like any other restaurant, nothing special. 山根蒸凤爪 is also not one of my favourite dishes in general. I am just not ahuge fan of chicken feet. It’s good, but not one of my favourite foods. What I do love are 竹叶珍珠鸡, 肉松炸两肠, and 蜜汁叉烧酥. Sticky rice and meat with eggs and mushrooms in bamboo leaves is just such a great combination. This time was a little disappointing as the flavour was not as deep as previous times. Perhaps it is just a one time flaw (hopefully!). And speaking of 肉松炸两肠, their sauces are deli
Overall I can say this was my best dim sum experience so far. Fisherman’s Terrace Seafood Restaurant’s dishes were at least at a satisfactory standard. Having been to a few dim sum restaurants, the combination of quality food, great service and ambiance of Fisherman’s Terrace Seafood Restaurant makes it better than the rest.
Lobster ramen at Gyo O ($19) Served in a ginormous bowl, this epic ramen comes with half a lobster with a gigantic claw. The poached egg just brought everything an extra mile. There was enough ramen noodles in there to feed 2 people. You have a choice between miso and tonkatsu broth. I went with the latter. The broth was the best part as it had a lot of depth and richness from the lobster. The lobster meat itself, though slightly over cooked, was still very plump and meaty. For $19, this luxury ramen is not on the regular menu. You can ask the server for its availability. If you're able to finish this enormous dish by yourself, the empty bowl is large enough to be adorn as a victory hat. Lobster congee at Fisherman's Terrace ($20) Best hangover breakfast to have on a Sunday morning with your dim sum ritual. Served in a traditional wooden pot, it is a blend of flavourful lobster-simmered, silky congee is great for sharing. The pieces of lobster are pre-smashed so they can ea
We are a party of 7 that dined here on a very busy Easter season. We are all first-rime diners here so we didn't know what to expect. But the staff really delivered excellent service! It didn't take more than 10 minutes to get the foods served and the foods we ordered all came piping hot. We unanimously agreed that this resto is one of the best Chinese restaurants we ever dined in. The foods are very tasty. The staff are helpful in the selection of menu, they are efficient and fast 😊 Thank you very much for the wonderful experience.
Visited this restaurant on Easter Sunday afternoon for lunch with a party of 11 including 3 babies, so we were expecting this place is gonna be busy, to be honest I was expecting bad service and food will arrive slow! To my surprise, the service was pretty good, and we got our food pretty quickly. Everyone seems to be pretty happy with their selections and dim sum, the kids really enjoyed it! We will definitely come back with our family and order the same dishes, maybe with dessert next time!
It tastes really good!!! The slice duck was amazing!! Everything was also really good! The price is reasonable for the quality you get. I would definitely everyone to try it out.
Came here before heading out on my flight, the waitress and manager were polite and helpful. Have nothing to complain about besides the dimsum being good, but just not great. I would stop by again for a quick dimsum cravings.
This place is always busy so a reservation is a must if you want to get in. The food is very good and the prices are reasonable, in line with most other Dim Sum restaurants in the area.
The service here was great. It's relatively busy but our server was very attentive. Love the seafood congee here! Add a little bit of hot oil and it's even more amazing. It is a little pricey but the quality is good. The shrimp dumplings and rice roll is quite good as well. A great choice within Aberdeen!
Pricey but very good dim sum and service. The only slight negative was that the 豬腳姜 could have been marinated longer for better taste. Everything else that we ordered was very good, even surprisingly good 小籠包 for a restaurant that isn't Shanghainese.
Solid dim sum that had good flavours. Nothing particularly outstanding but everything was consistent. The space is distanced well and staff are quick. Prices are fair for Vancouver.
