Review Smokehouse Sandwich Co - Richmond

Tasty sandwiches and fries. Got a double meat of the pork belly with fries and it was pretty filling. Fries have an interested seasoning to them that makes them distinct, and they're quite crisp. May want to get a drink or dip with the fries, it ends up a tad dry otherwise.

Tried the Samson and the Goliath sandwich. They're both so good! The meat was juicy. The strawberry gravy goes really well with the brisket. Highly recommend this place and will definitely return to try the other sandwiches in the near future.

The owner is super friendly 😀 even we have not come for two years he still remember us. Plus it has a new menu with different bbq dishes🍖 The bbq chicken is so yummy 🐓 Note it require preorder 🤤

High quality ingredients. I ordered multigrain to be healthy. Would not recommend doing that as it ruins the burger. Stick to white bread. Got the Samson and Wilbur. Very greasy as the oil will seep through the paper.

We got takeout from Smokehouse sandwich today and loved our meal. All the three sandwiches (Cheese, Beef and Veggie with beets) were solid quality, and so were the salads. Their french fries are the best I've had in a while. They also serve delightful summer drinks (Strawberry Mint and Honey Ginger) that are absolutely mind-blowing for only 2.99. We will be back the next time we are in the area.

I should have listened to my gut, a smokehouse in richmond?? But the menu looked upscale and the reviews were good. They try ill give em that but for me they failed. Had the brussel sprouts thats supposedly topped with brisket. First off it was topped with hard overcharred morsels of pure fat. Second its smothered in mayo or maybe aoili but thats not in the description and frankly i dont order mayo but who figures there would be mayo on everything? Thats low class..... The brussel sprouts themselves were roasted juicy and cooked perfectly. My other gripe with the brussells are there was about 100ml of water swimming on the bottom which spilled everywhere because again who figures there would be a bed of liquid. Now the bpm sandwich which is supposed brisket with pesto. If this mayo based substance is their pesto please check a recipie book.... This nayo/aoili was on both ends of the bread and soaked into the bread so even a knife and paper towel vouldnt get rid of it all. The brisket was ok. I wont be back sadly. When in richmond i know stick to the amazing asian food and korean fried chicken, my mistake wont make it again.

Ordered a Samson sandwich and a brussel sprouts salad. It was so delicious I went back for seconds for everything. The food was perfectly done and the service was phenomenal. Hands down the best sandwich I’ve had in the last 4 years. Definitely coming back in the near future.

Definately have to come back to try more sandwiches. So tasty and delicious. The meat is just perfect, not too dry.

Today I was invited to “Smokehouse Sandwich Company”, where this 10-6pm cafe was transformed into the setting of our homestyle turkey dinner, just in time for Thanksgiving. This is one of two locations, the other being downtown Vancouver. This, their Richmond location is their original and the one still operated by the founding owners. And it was them that invited us to this “friendsgiving” feast tonight.

Dark and Overpriced.I am not a fan of Smokehouse. It did not strike me as being a safe place to eat. It was dark and I wasn't confident that staff were following safe food practices in that environment. I was bothered that the cash till and the sandwich assembly station were very close together. I and my colleague observed staff freely moved from making sandwiches to running the till without washing their hands.

I secretly love carbs, so when R suggested we check out this sandwich shop I was super excited. This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere (literally), but their was quite a fair bit of people coming in for lunch (even in the snow!). What I drank: Honey Ginger Lemon – Hot ($2.99). This was pretty good. Extremely sweet though from the honey! Also the floating ginger bits wasn’t really pleasant to swallow but the overall taste was very comforting.

This is a cozy family own sandwich house. Service is very friendly. Their were only a few choices of sandwiches on their menu and so far I liked them all. The Samson and the Billy are the must try.

Smokehouse Sandwich (特色三文治專門店)

Samson Sandwich $9.99
這是最受歡迎的招牌三文治,切成薄片的牛腩非常惹味 (4/5分)

Beef Soup $2.99 ~ 牛肉和蔬菜不少,味道不錯但偏鹹 (3.5/5分)

Sarah Sandwich $9.99
餡料是雞肉和白蘿蔔絲及紅蘿蔔絲混成的Asian slaw,酸酸甜甜,一般而已 (3/5分)

Greens $2.99 (3.5/5分)

Great service, very friendly, family owned sandwich shop. I want to say I loved it, because they were so friendly and the restaurant was so nicely decorated. But I can't say I loved it, because while the meat was very moist and flavorful, the crisps hit my stomach like a rock.

My friends and I had lunch here a few days ago. We got a table right away. I ordered the Billie which was so delicious and very tasty! It took only a few minutes before I got my order. They are quite fast and very friendly too. The place itself is a little old but it looks well-kept. It's a nice quaint restaurant. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is 'cause I find it way too expensive. I paid $11 for my sandwich! It was delicious but the price is making me hesitant to go back.

Neat little joint tucked away in a residential area in Richmond. Family run and staff are quite friendly. Sandwiches are more on pricey side but quite delicious. Drinks are homemade and refreshing! Love the Honey, Lemon & Ginger. Great drink to cure a cold! Their chips are homemade potato chips! Yummy!

The sandwiches here are great, really high quality ingredients prepared by a super friendly family. The drinks they make themselves with uncommon flavours and are worth trying at least once.

What an awesome place to get a sandwich!!! Seriously the best sandwich in the Lower mainland and Richmond area.
If you are there the first time, try the Samson - best one on the menu.

Family owned, you feel like a family when you get there. Been there already so many times that they know my name already.
Marumarulove
My BF brought me here and it was really yummy. It's really near our home so we can always drop by and have a bite there. I tried the pork belly ! Must try but is kinda pricey.

TL;DR: recommend the Billie, could do without the chips, definitely returning to try more!
Excellent hidden gem in Richmond - it feels like I stepped into Main St!
Had the Billie, which was an excellent mix of pork belly, aioli, salsa, and toasted bun. The salsa was a bit weird and chunky, so I think in would've preferred a more held-together salsa, but it did add the sweet/sour dimension.
The chips were pretty ordinary, impressive for homemade but tastes similar to packaged chips.

Great sandwiches and nice ambiance. Prices are on the high side so beware if you don't feel its worth to spend 9+ dollars on a sandwich. I find the regular meat sandwiches don't fill me up so I often opt for the double meat option. The olive oil fried chips are a must if you go. A good alternative to meat & bread since that location is downtown.
Domo Is Craving...
Smokehouse is a place I have heard of before, and passed by a few times in the past, but due to their very limited opening hours, I was never able to dine there until recently. The outside is very unassuming, as it follows the same color scheme for their awnings as the rest of the building. The inside has some very cool design though.
Lower Mainland Muncher
The billie sandwich had thick juicy pork - almost like bacon, which tasted delicious. Unfortunately it was stacked in the centre of the bun so it was very unevenly spread. Too much meat in the centre and nothing around it. The wilbur was really good as the thinly sliced veggies went well with the pulled pork. The "crisps" were a major disappointment though. They were unsalted and were way too greasy. The crispyness didn't exist as they were just saturated in oil. Maybe they didn't drain them well enough. I ate this meal 3.5 hours ago and am regretting it because now I feel sick. I had high hopes for this place since it got really good reviews. I still think Meat and Bread is better.

I have never had such flavourful brisket--in the best way possible, they're ruined me for any other brisket I may ever have in my life. The coffee they infuse it with gives it amazing flavour, it's melt-in-your-mouth, it's just incredible. I also love the way they do their drinks, it's a fun way to have them pre-made, you just add water:)
Simon
The concept is pretty simple: A BBQ meat sandwich that uses round burger buns and gives you roughly the same amount of meat as a patty. For $4 more you can get twice the amount of meat (the "II" option on the sandwich menu). Quiet, shady place that's quite big. Looks simply decorated on the inside, but take some time to look around and you'll spot some curious things like vintage cameras.
Zum Wang
Less than acceptable service. A do it yourself type of place... Sit yourself, set your own table, go to the wall to read the menu, put water into your own drink, if you need salt or napkins get up and get them yourself. Oh, did I mention that a tip is expected before you sit down...?
Taste on the sandwich was good, maybe a bit overpriced. Crisps lacked flavor and very oily. If you do not like ginger bits in your mouth or biting into it avoid the honey ginger and lemon drink! All that I could taste is the ginger. Restaurants is definitely not as good as previously rated by others. For the price I prefer cactus club at least I get the service and more food choices. By the time I was charged for a sandwich chips and a drink I paid over $17.

Words cannot even describe how freaking amazing this sandwich was.

Sarah:
Tamarind chicken, aoili, Asian slaw, sesame ginger oil.

My God. As seen in the first PIC, a trail of juices burst out of the sandwich after the first bite. Definitely not a first date place..haha Chicken was so flavourful and tender. Lovely slaw that gave the chicken a lift, aoili that added a creamy texture to the sandwich. So good that I wanted another one. I didnt have the stomach space for the chips since i was solo adventuring..but next time I'll be back for the brisket and the chips!

Location is hidden, interior is cosy and chill. Great service and people who are enthusiastic about what they make.

I went for the first time a couple of days ago and I can't believe I haven't gone earlier! My friend and I both had the samson, which is the coffee crusted, strawberry glazed beef brisket sandwich. It was delicious and an excellent combination of savory with just a hint of sweetness. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, which has a rustic, homey feel. In addition, the staff was friendly and efficient. I'm definitely coming back for seconds!

The Samson (Beef Brisket). Awesome!

This place is so good and deserves much more business! I just wish they have dinner hours. For those who work 5 days a week, it is really inflexible to go there. Otherwise i would come here often!!! Great sandwiches, great chips, and great strawberry mint drink!

I asked the server for recommendation of the most popular sandwich and he recommended Samson. Samson is Coffee Crusted Strawberry Glazed Beef Brisket with butter Leaf Lettuce, Red Bell Peppers and Aioli. The size of the burger is big for me. It was good though. We also ordered a serving of Crisp which is thin cut potatoes fried in Olive oil for $2.00 to share. This is good because it was not salted as we can’t detect any saltiness. They are light and crispy...

Great Sandwiches!. Tried the Samson along with the pork belly - this place makes some very delicious sandwiches. The beef brisket is tender and overall very well put together. The pork belly was also very good; however, if I was going to choose between the two, I would go with the Samson.

Decor was very hip and was definitely catering to a younger crowd. The service as good as the cashiers were very nice and overall did not take a long time before our sandwiches got served.

Only negative is that it is on the pricier side for the amount of food you get. However, I would come back to when I am feeling a craving for a high quality sandwich.

Brisket. Just saying, Alex an employee really promotes this place! Never knew he worked there, but I'm sure you'll have more customers this week, I'm sure of it, I've always ordered the same thing I'm coming in to order something I haven't tried!

Fabulous sandwich; truly a hidden gem!, will definitely go back .. Tried this tony little gem today; WOW! Amazing pulled pork sandwich, excellent thin crispy chips, great coleslaw. Sandwiches are available as salads too. Homemade drinks, including a well loved ginger lemon, warm or cold. Vegetarian option available. Cool decor, bot her block tables, great for a late lunch too. Will be back for sure.

The food here is amazing! The sandwiches are all warm sandwiches that are so individual you won't find anywhere else, ingrediebts are fresh and top quality and a lot of care is done info preparation. What makes this place even more enjoyable is the friendly people and nice rustic ambience

The sandwhiches will never disappoint!! There are not very many choices but they are wonderful, especially the wilbur sandwich!! There aren't many choices with the drinks either, and personally I don't really like the 2 natural juices they serve. This place has such a cute and cozy atmosphere on the inside, which is why my friends and I go here all the time!

The Murray Chronicles
One day last week my daughters picked me up at work for lunch. The three of us went to a place my daughters have been raving about for several months; a place where the owners know my daughters by name, which tells you something I suppose. The Smokehouse Sandwich Co is located in a small strip mall on Westminster Hwy in Richmond. It is out of the way, off the beaten track, and if you are driving too fast, as far too many do in this city, you might miss it altogether, and that would be a shame. Clean and airy, with a country-kitchen-look going on, this is a wonderful place for lunch. You can have anything you want as long as it is a sandwich: Beef, chicken, portobello mushroom, pulled pork and pork belly are the choices and judging by the plates that went by, all appear delicious. This is a family-operated business. On the day we dined, June was on the front counter and her son Rico was making the sandwiches. House-made potato crisps are available, with some wonderful sauces to add as you see fit. There are several house-made drinks for sale (tea or fruit concoctions), and complimentary spring water is provided. A rarity, the Smokehouse Sandwich Co offers nothing in the way of soft drinks or bottled waters: a good thing. When it came time to order I decided on a smoked beef sandwich called the Samson. I was then offered the choice of the regular size, which my daughters thought prudent, or the double-meat size, which I thought would be more appropriate for a lunch meal. It turned out to be a rather large sandwich indeed. "Can you eat all that Dad?" What kind of question is that I wondered to myself. I didn't come here to look at it. The sandwich was delicious. I tired one of my daughter's chicken sandwiches and it too was highly agreeable. It was a great luncheon. My companions were pleasant of course, the surroundings inviting, the service friendly, and the sandwiches simply wonderful. Being Coke and Pepsi -free is a bonus too. It could well be the best sandwich sh

Dope spot. It would be one of my favourite spots if it wasn't so expensive. $18 for a sandwich and a drink after tax and tip is too much but the food was still dope. the spot was cool. the flavours were on point and the service was fast and fresh. i understand having a sandwich here is a bit of a splurge but i'll be back.

Never get bored. Who says family can't run a business? This family run-restaurant is solid proof of that. Although there is only a small variety of sandwiches, they are all delicious. I have literally tried all the options on the menu but my I love the wilbur and especially the samson.
Blondie
Love it!. Service is always very friendly and the lady at the front recognized me the second time I came in! The sandwiches are so fresh and delicious, my favourite is the Wilbur, but I'm still trying to get through the menu. I haven't tried the drinks or sides, but the sandwiches will not disappoint you.
David.currie1983
Best Brisket Sandwich in BC. I've been to pretty much every BBQ joint in BC, and tired brisket sandwiches from tones of different places, and I have to say, hands down the Samson (beef brisket) is the best by MILES!

If I didn't work 9-5 downtown, i would eat the samson everyday!

The Wilbur Sandwich (Pulled Pork). Delicious!! awesome combination with Honey Ginger Lemon

A rare gem! Love the Samson!. Saw a story about this place in Facebook. Tagged my friends and tried it out this weekend. I was not disappointed. The Samson is something I will keep coming back for. The beef was soft not stringy. The Strawberry glaze was perfect. They make their own potato crisps. The strawberry & mint lemonade was not too sweet and not to sour... It was just right. The place had a homey rustic ambiance that I love. Coming back again this weekend with more friends and will order the next sandwich down from the menu.

You've gotta try the hot sauces!. At this point I have tried almost every sandwich on the menu except the Delilah as it's currently not on the menu and the Luigi....because as cute as they are I won't eat mushrooms to save my own life.... the menu rotates a little based on what they're currently smoking and currently there's a delicious one on the menu that is a pork belly sandwich. The last two I had were the Molly and Samson...always favourites with us. Each sandwich is delicious and just dripping in just the right amount of amazing sauces. The salmon is amazing and fresh, the brisket is the best by far, and the pulled pork is really good. I recommend trying them all.

The chips are great...they said it takes over 24 hours to prepare them! They are crispy, delicious, and even better when you add the smoked salt they have handy! The hot sauces are the best part. The green one is sortof a cilantro-style hotsauce, with a lighter heat. The red one is more of a hot chili style hotsauce. Each one is made with their own smoked onions, peppers, etc and they are so full of flavour that you really don't mind the burn that comes with it.

To drink they have a hot or cold ginger lemon or strawberry mint drink and i just LOVE the strawberry mint. The mint makes the pores in your tongue open up so everything taste better, even the burning tasty awesomeness that is the hotsauce...

Can't get enough of that stuff...

The only thing I haven't tried so far is the soup, but I rarely do soup so that doesn't bother me at all.

We'll keep going back for sure!
YummyFTW
Sandwiches here are to DIE for!! Wanted to try this place for a really long time but could never find the time to meet their early closing hours. Ordered the Samson, Wilbur, and Sarah and they were all really good! I especially enjoyed the Sarah as it was very flavorful. However one sandwich a person was not enough.. You would think for $8 a sandwich it would at least fill you up. Overall delicious but portions are small, for me at least
Purdey
Great sandwich shop. Love the food, decor and vibe of the place. Try the honey ginger lemon drink (cold) on a hot summer day!
Overall: thumb's up!
Sarah Jessani
A Great Sandwich!!. The Samson was unreal! The Sarah was good but a bit heavy on the ginger for my taste. Can't wait to work my way down the menu. However, I wouldn't pay for the chips again, I found them unnecessary. The hot sauces are delicious as well...can't wait until they start selling them by the bottle!
Verticallyhip
Solid Sandwiches, Good People. I could easily eat at this place twice a week. Great sandwiches. Could use a little more variety but definitely worth checking out. Just one question....where's the soup?
Pinkfatboy
Sandwich good. Stopped by for lunch at noon on a Friday, place was empty. Only an old couple, another regular and his buddy and myself. Very surprised for a Friday lunch.
Had a Samson (beef brisket) which was tasty. Meat was hot but it wasn't as plentiful as the pictures posted would suggest. The meat was juicy and went well with the aioli, no complaints. Lots of juices will come out while eating and will get your hand real sticky but you need to maximize the usage of the one napkin provided. $8 is a lot for a quick sandwich but if you compare it to a sit down restaurant then the price is acceptable.
Drink selection like others have noted is limited.
I hope they do enough business to stay open, they are decent and a good alternative to fast food or other lunch time stops. Very odd location, only way I found out about this place was through a link on one of the other food blogger's site.

AMAZING!. Best sandwich in RIchmond bar none!
If you aint been here yet, make it a point!

Seriously ADDICTING!

LAME BUSINESS HOURS. Hard to support a local business with the business hours this place keeps. They close at 4pm monday to Friday.
Their menu in my opinion is not condicive to a "breakfast" menu yet they open up at 7:45 am.
It must be great to open up a new business and to be doing so very well that they can afford to close everyday so early! MAJOR FAIL on the business hours!!!!!!!!!!!!
Judyandbob
Great sandwich.... ...but nothing else. No decor, no service, no plates , no cutlery, no soft drinks, no liquor license. This place is a large disabled food truck. You place your order at the counter, pay, then at at inordinate length of time later you pick it up , on a metal tray with a single paper napkin. Then you sit at a wobbly table, on an uncomfortable chair, and eat the delicious sandwich. The decor is "rustic crap".I advise takeout.

Scrumptious Sandwiches. I have never been one to sit down on a sunny afternoon and think to myself "man oh man I would really kill for a sandwich right now," and so my first trip to Smokehouse Sandwich Co. was to be hesitantly dragged along by a group of friends.

A friend and I shared the first sandwich on the menu (I can't recall what it was called, but it is the sandwich that they use on their flyers as well) and their chips. The sandwich was the best I have ever had; the meat was tender and full of flavor, crusted with fresh strawberries and coffee and paired with a delicious and creamy aioli that balanced the flavors just right. The chips reminded me of 'wiggle chips' that I have every year at the PNE, minus the overpowering seasoning. They were perfectly crisped and lightly salted (extra seasoning was provided on the table near the register) and added a nice element of crunch to the sandwich.

I ordered myself a hot honey lemon ginger tea, which was also quite good, HOWEVER, if you are not a ginger lover I would recommend avoiding this beverage, as there was A LOT of ginger used. My friend had their iced strawberry and mint beverage, which was served in a mason jar. The drink tasted light and fresh, and had just the right amount of sweetness.

I would undoubtedly recommend this sandwich place to anyone; if you are considering trying it out, go for it! You will be happy you did!

I am not a huge sandwich person and usually don't finish the bread/bun when I have one. When I tried the pulled pork sandwich here I changed my ways. Amazing! The meat was so moist and flavorful and the bun was nice and toasty. Needless to say, I finished all of the sandwich, even the bun. I also went back for another the very next day!

You had me at smokehouse. Excellent find on urbanspoon while I was in the area today. Samson was fantastic!

Great!. Finally an amazing sandwich shop in Richmond! Wilbur and Samson were out of this world. Great service and great atmosphere. Will be back soon.

Awesome sandwiches. I grew up in the neighbourhood and still live nearby. I spotted this place while driving by a few weeks ago and thought a good quality sandwich shop is exactly what the neighbourhood needed. My wife and I tried it out for lunch today we were both delighted. My "Samson" beef brisket sandwich was delicious and one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. My wife ordered the "Wilbur" pulled pork sandwich. It wasn't dripping with overpowering BBQ sauce like she was expecting. In fact, there was no BBQ sauce on it at all. My wife said it was the best pulled pork sandwich she has tried. We shared the fresh thin cut chips and it was nice to see they didn't come pre-coated in salt like most other places. We added a very small dash of salt and they were delicious when combined with the house made red and green hot sauces. We'll be back soon to begin working our way through the entire menu. Oh and did I mention the sandwiches are cheaper than fast food joints like Subway and Quiznos?

Unreal!. This is not your average average old plain sandwich! These are some of the tastiest sandwiches in Richmond hands down. Every single ingredient is hand crafted by the chef and you can tell by the flavour that bursts in your mouth with every bite!

Gastown esque decor right in Richmond. Moreover, friendliest service you'll get!

Highly recommend everyone to try this hidden gem of a sandwich restaurant right under our nose in Richmond.

Great find!. Was driving past at lunchtime today and pulled in to try them out. Being vegetarian I thought that the menu might cater more towards meat eaters, but I had the Portobello Mushroom burger, and it was delicious.

Price was great for the food, I had my burger served with freshly cut potato chips - amazing.

Service was excellent, and the decor is fantastic.

Love the sandwiches. Been there a few times and have tried 5 different sandwiches, I can't pick any as my favourite... they are all good! It maybe a little out of way from Central Richmond but it's worth the 5-minute drive.

Friendliest people!

Beef brisket sandwich melts in your mouth! Their potato rounds are also unique and scrumptious.

Check out my video on this @macyeats on YouTube! This is quite the hidden gem in Vancouver. I pretty much neglect all western food in Richmond. It's usually just chains we get here; BP, Earls, Whitespot. This place though, is tucked away camoflaged from Westminister Hwy. When you go in, it's like a hipster's pinterest account in real life.

Overall, I definitely recommend a visit to Smokehouse Sandwich Company. In fact not just one visit, you should definitely try it more than once. Most of the food items are delicious and have reasonable prices. The atmosphere at Smokehouse Sandwich Co. is also quite pleasant.

I regret not finding this place earlier but it’s located at such a non-commercial area in Richmond, nested in the midst of all a large network of residential neighbourhoods on Westminster Hwy. It’s easy to miss so if you’re planning on visiting this quaint Richmond gem, keep your eyes peeled when driving! Smokehouse is a family run restaurant and you can tell right away that they love what they do from the welcoming and homey atmosphere from their decor to their service. There’s a variety of delicious sounding burgers here but my friend and I decided to order the famous Samson burger which features coffee crusted strawberry glazed beef brisket served on a warm bun with butter leaf lettuce, red bell peppers, and homemade Aioli for $7.99. We decided to also add some chips since they sounded pretty amazing too – thin-cut potatoes fried in olive oil ($2). I’m happy to say that this burger’s popularity is well deserved as everything from the buns to the leafy greens taste fresh and well coo

Walking in, the strong aroma of smoked meat was very satisfying. An aroma that has never been present at many barbecue joints I have been to. Smokehouse Sandwich is located in Richmond (fortunately away from the busier streets in Richmond) and beats any of the sandwich joints in Downtown Vancouver. The restaurant's interior is quite nice and simple. Brick walls, wooden tables, white chairs and a chalkboard menu. The sandwich shop has a self serve station for soup, cutlery, straws, sauces and spices. Since the soup is self serve, all the meat and vegetables were scooped up with nothing left but liquid. The cashier was friendly and offered to grab some soup from the kitchen, after asking if there was any meat left in the pot. The spices available are smoked sea salt and ground pepper. I did not get a chance to try the smoked sea salt but would next time. For the condiments, red and green hot sauce is available but I prefer my

Back in highschool people would trek across the back field and through the neighborhood to go to Nat’s for lunch, they were a bistro that served soup and sandwiches and had a whole bunch of other stuff to buy as snacks. After Nat’s closed down it was transformed into a pub AND coffee shop called “The Suburban Well” and “The Coffee Well” which both ultimately failed as well. When I was driving down Westminster Highway to go home after exams I noticed a new restaurant had taken its place! Smokehouse Sandwich Co. is a sandwich shop that specializes in smoked meats. Their menu is simple – no more than 8 different types of sandwiches, all made with meats (or a portabello mushroom) smoked in house (they have the same smoker as the restaurant I work in during the summers!), 2 sides (homemade chips or soup), and a few drinks. The restaurant smells of smoked meats when you walk in and go to the service counter to order. The staff were extremely friendly, with the lady at the counter making sure

The sandwich and drink were both VERY tasty and satisfying though I would’ve liked it if they had either lowered the price for the sandwich or at least included a side with it.

This perfect little eatery is tucked in on the quieter side of Westminster Hwy. When you enter the restaurant the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and comfortable. The friendly faces are waiting to welcome you and recommended the days special or simply direct you to some of their fantastic tried and true favorites. The Sandwich Board : My friend was as interested as I was to try a few different flavors- we opted for the Samson : A coffee covered and strawberry glazed slow cooked beef brisket- butter lettuce, red bell peppers and house aioli . It’s located in a nondescript corner strip map on Westminster Highway and Tiffany Blvd in Richmond. It occupies a space that was previously a pub, and it still looks and feels like it. The menu is compact, and features a variety of made-to-order sandwiches featuring smoked/slow cooked meats like brisket, pulled pork, smoked salmon, etc. I ordered the Samson Sandwich with a side of crisps The Samson is smoked brisket, mopped with a coffee and strawberry glaze, sliced thin, and layered on a lightly toasted bun, with lettuce, crisp red peppers, mayo. This is a really good sandwich. The brisket is melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the coffee and strawberry glaze comes through. The toasted bun and the crisp
Somerville Kitchen
A sure wacky discovery - hidden on the main level of a small office building in Richmond is Smokehouse Sandwich, the cutest s andwich place I have visited in a long time. Simple menu with five sandwiches to choose from and an option to add 'crisps' or a lemonade. This place beats any fast food restaurant meal in price (and of course in freshness, taste and ambiance) anytime. And to make the experience even more interesting, the food is served on a tray. Very ingenious and environmentally friendly. Even the drinks are beautifully served. Wonder if I can find it on my own? I sure would like to go back. Every Day Is A Food Day
Such a hidden gem. We arrived early for lunch, but soon after, the place was absolutely packed! They have a fairly simple menu board with sandwiches, sides, and drinks. You order at the front and they call you when it’s ready. You can then choose a seat to enjoy your meal. The interior is rustic and cozy. Tall chairs against wooden tables, with sofas, books, brick walls and rugs. It almost feels like you’re at someones home. We decided to try their only two drinks. Both drinks come as hot versions as well. They are definitely following the current Mason jar trends here. Most of the ingredients have sunk to the bottom, so we were told to shake it well before drinking. Iced Honey Ginger Lemon Tea , Iced Strawberry and Mint Tea N got the Iced Honey Ginger Lemon Tea , which was surprisingly full of ginger flavour. Almost a little too spicy for me! I can imagine the hot version to be perfect if you have a cold. For myself, I had the Iced Strawberry and Mint Tea . Mine was more bland than N’s, but still had a good amount of strawberry flavour. Very refreshing! Samson
Eating With Kirby
Great sandwiches are hard to come by. Sure, I can always get a good sandwich at Subway or a good sandwich at Earls, but rarely do I find ones that are special enough to make me crave it again the second I leave. Smokehouse Sandwich Co. created one of my exceptions and I honestly think it's the bomb diggity. It's quite interesting that this little mom and pop shop is located in a residential area of Richmond close to Westminster and No.2 Road. I remember this property switching owners and businesses every year but somehow I feel like Smokehouse is here to stay. Their menu is plain and simple. 6 different types of burgers. 3 types of drinks. 1 side to choose from. Rae and I shared two sandwiches, a side of crisps, and a Honey Ginger Lemon Drink. All in all it came up to about $10 per person. This Samson ($7.99) sandwich is made with freshly baked bread, coffee crusted strawberry glazed beef brisket, peppers, butter lettuce, and aioli. If you are only getting one sandwich this one is THE ONE to get. The brisket was incredibly tender and flavourful, the bread was fluffy yet slightly crusty on the outside, and the aioli just melded all the flavours together beautifully. Their side of crisps ($2) are fried in-house. I recommend adding their smoked salt (available on the counter) to give it more depth. You can get their drinks hot or cold. We chose the latter even though it was freezing outside. They pre-make the drinks and store them in these cute mason jars so you have to give them a good shake before drinking. This drink was the bomb. I was afraid the ginger would overpower my tastebuds but it was the perfect amount of spicy and sweet. I don't know about you but I for one don't like pulled pork smothered in BBQ sauce. Because of that, the Wilbur ($7.99) was perfect because it was pulled pork at its finest. No heavy sauce to drown the juiciness of the meat,. It's just pulled pork, its own meat juices, your mouth, and sweet glory. It's hard to tell from this picture bu
