Review Blue Canoe - Richmond

Emma D.
The restaurant was busy but service is fast and the waitress was very attentive as well. We got 3 course dinner and it took us an hour 10 mins from sitting down to leaving. Foods here were delicious, the seafood tasted fresh, small but good portion. Dine out menu has great value. Would highly recommend!

Decided to pop into the Blue Canoe on a whim one rainy day. We were sat right away right next to the water, under a heater with a plastic tarp on top to keep us dry. Customer service was wonderful. The food however was quite lacklustre. The seafood chowder was runny and devoid of flavour; albeit the seafood tasted quite fresh. If you love thick, creamy, and savoury chowder, I do not recommend the chowder here. The salmon burger was tasteless. The salmon tasted frozen, was dry and needed a lot more seasoning. Perhaps some more salt and pepper… anything? The salad.. was well.. a salad lazily stuffed into a tiny metal bowl. The customer service is a 8/10 and the food is a 5/10 - definitely edible but would not go out of my way to recommend this place to anyone.

What a delightful place. Fresh, good , calamaris , fish and chips , cold beer or delicious margarita. What a day! Friendly and efficient service a good combination. Definitely to go back. Let me know if I am wrong.

I had a canoe platter. And it’s absolutely disappointing, everything has strong refrigerator taste, and not fresh. I drove 2 hours to here and thought the seafood near the pier would be good and fresh, but it’s obviously not. Look at the shrimp and tuna poke. The crab is watery , soft and snagy.

We went to this restaurant impromptu after riding our bikes to Steveston. I’ve been here before a few years back but don’t remember how it was. We were on a bit of a schedule but we were able to be seated fast (balcony was super busy and full so we were placed in the indoors dining area). Service was generally fast. I ordered the Baja shrimp taco salad because I didn’t want anything heavy for the bike ride back. I will advise people to not order this salad. There was way too much salad dressing, and the shrimps (which are supposed to be the main part) were unbearably salty. I didn’t wanna waste food so I had to chase each shrimp with a full glass of water. It was just terrible. We also had the burger sliders that were satisfactory. They probably have better dishes that we didn’t order but overall this experience with this particular dish was not very stellar. They did look aesthetically nice though if that counts for something.

Our server Evan added to our amazing anniversary “date day” the muscles were some of the best we’ve had. The Prawn & Crab Linguine was tasty. The focaccia bread was soooo good! Beautiful location, comfortable casual classy vibe to this restaurant. Can’t wait to come back. We will ask to be in Evan’s section. Thanks for a memorable dinner!

Not what I expected from this restaurant - thought that for the price of the dishes (which is quite high) the quality would be better. The fish didn't taste a flavourful as I expected. However the views from this restaurant are beautiful!

Our experience at the Blue Canoe was great. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather while we ate here. My wife and I loved the seafood tostados and fish and chips. Our server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean. The washroom is clean also. Overall our experience was enjoyable and I will probably return some time in the future.

So Went there for mom's birthday

they claim they are 'award winning' so we were all looking forward for the food.

Mom had the Halibut, fish was way over cooked, meat was tough.

I had the salmon again it was way overcooked.

sister had wings, it was fine but on the dry side..

on top of that service was awful it was not very busy when we went but servers prefer chatting instead of helping us so we waited for an extra 20 mins

We will never come here again, for they prices they are charging we expect a lot more.

Saturday night was quite busy we had to wait for 20 minutes for a table of 2. The sable fish with risotto was really good (a bit too sweet) but the crab dip was waaay too salty. Caesar cocktail was quite strong even though it's just a single.

I came here for dinner and since it was dark I didn't get much view of the water. Overall it was good. I ordered the salmon and the skin was crisp, but the inside was still tender. Got the dry ribs as the appetizer and it was it a bit too dry. Service was good, but it took a very long time for the food to come.

We were excited to meet our friends for Dine Out Menu tonight. We got a nice table out on the covered deck so there was a nice view of the water. Our waitress was attentive and timely. There was a nice vibe in the restaurant for a Sunday evening. The appetizers were tasty and interesting, moist pork belly and seafood chowder. The short rib dish was 'alright' and my paella dish was dry with shrivelled up shellfish and stuck to plate rice, I had 2 bites. Possibly it was sitting under the heat lamp waiting for ordering? They offered to remake it but I was in a group of four so declined. They didn't charge me for my glass of wine.

Usually, Pajo’s is our place to go when we head over to Steveston. However, when we’re looking for something other than fish & chips, we like to try some of the other restaurants along the Bayview Pier. Blue Canoe Waterfront has a nice view of the pier from their patio and we had a craving for oysters so we decided to try their Panko Crusted Fried Fanny Bay Oysters ($16.95) as well as some fresh oysters on the half shell ($16.95 for 6).

Had a client who was curious to check out this restaurant. We traveled 15 minutes to get there with a couple of Starbuck's coffees in hand. When we entered we were told to leave the premises because of the coffees. Went to another restaurant nearby--no problem. Reported this to the manager. Got a flimsy explanation. Decide for yourself, but I won't be going back.

Greasy and expensive fish and chips.

Went by this restaurant in Steveston tonight. From the outside it looked like the nicest place of the indoor restaurants that were open. It's a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere inside and has great waterfront views.

We both ordered fish and chips. There is no choice to the fish and chips. It's cod. I've had caught on the other coast, there is no comparison. The fish we were served tonight had a fishy taste, a sure sign that has either been frozen or just not fresh. Also VERY greasy :)

I was shocked to see the measly amount of french fries that came with it. Picture a medium McDonald's amount. Even it wasn't for the $19.95 price tag I would still have been disappointed.

Will NOT return.

I have never been to a restaurant where I fear taking the next bite. Ordered 12 oysters and none of them taste or even look right. Some oysters literally looked like they were placed in a blender, extremely mushy and tasted terrible. After we requested to change some of them, the waitress only exchanged one that looks the same anyway. The ceviche was tasteless, I am not a food picky person but I will stay away from this one in the future. We ended up leaving lots of oysters behind.
Listen Up!
Great food and professional service from "trained waitstaff" not dirty looking girls wearing skirts so short you can see their inner child while wobbling around in stilettos congregating with each other..."the chain resturant look"
I had the chowder and loved how it was topped with a pinch of cream, very tasty and they give you those tiny oyster crackers i take home with me, but not giving full stars because they did not offer a fried shrimp, fried shrimp and fried scallops are my favourite food, they did offer fried coconut shrimp, sorry but yawn! Although i did order the coconut shrimp and it was tasty with cocktail sauce. Btw our waitress was very nice and smiled a lot which makes a world of difference, my partner had a chilly beer paired with fish and chips. Yum!

One of my favourite restaurants. The Lobster Mac n' Cheese, Chicken sandwiches are to die for. Recently found out they changed the menu, still a great selection, but the Lobster Mac is gone!! If you see this message Blue Canoe, please bring back the Lobster Mac to your menu. Would really appreciate it!!! Thanks!

I've been here twice and both times were great. I like coming at sunset and because you could sit right by the window and watch it while you eat. Their spinach dip is AMAZING. But I had their house sandwich the second time and it wasn't as great. The sandwich was dry.

Last week, we headed down to the Steveston Village to spend a leisure afternoon. At the same time, we decided to dine at Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant which is located on the pier. It had been a few years since I dined at Blue Canoe so I was looking forward to an updated experience. I also had a gift card to Blue Canoe as a prize from being the random winner in an online contest, so I used it to pay for part of the meal. I made the reservation to Blue Canoe through Opentable.

Stopped by for lunch to check out their revamped menu.
I have here crab & avocado sandwich and chicken with grilled veg flatbread.
Both were good, but I found it a bit pricey for what it is.
I do love sitting on their patio!

Price to service quality imbalance. This place has an amazing location, however so do restaurants like Seasons in the Park. For the same price I can get a much better experience at Seasons. There's a massive service quality disconnect. I have lofty expectations when I see $33 for a halibut dinner than I do for a $12 burger at White Spot. Very inattentive service. Waitress appeared stressed out, indicating perhaps some staffing shortages this place needs to address.

Waitress looked very stressed, and while dealing with us it was evident she was already thinking about the next thing she needed to do instead of thinking about the people she was talking to. This place is very poorly managed.
Kristelcalimlim
Poor service. Ate there awhile ago and had a terrible experience! We did not get any service at all, all because we moved to a different table?!. the server was rude since then.. did not even ask if we needed more drinks or if we needed something else.. we asked for more chips but she never came back.. one of us complained to their manager and did not get any sorry at all.. we'll never go back to that place again and will not recommend it to anybody.. food's not good any way..

BAD EXPERIENCE - NOT RECOMMENDED. We were a party of ten (10) mature, middle aged people who made a reservation for lunch on July 22, 2014. We were entertaining our relatives who were from out of town. Our reservation was for 11:30 am.

We arrived at 11:26 am. However, the guy, who was quite arrogant and rude, refused to let us in even though the doors were open, and we just wanted to get seated already. We told him that we were willing to wait until they can take our orders. However, this guy who obviously did not want our business (we are Asians and the guy is Caucasian) did not allow us to go in and get seated. He wanted us to wait until exactly 11:30 am by his watch. Maybe if we were Caucasians like him he could have let us in. Imagine, we were only four minutes early and he refused to let us in. Our guests traveled over a couple of hours to get to the restaurant. Embarrassing to our guests. Very bad impression on all of us.

We therefore left and went to another restaurant. Staff attitude like this should not be tolerated or condoned by the restaurant management. With an experience like this, do you think we will ever go back to this restaurant? Do you think we would ever recommend or say a good word about this restaurant?

The Non Reservation -what a joke. A special day - the last of a ten day visit to our country by my sister and brother in law.
Also a 74th birthday on July 1,2014
Reservation for 4 at 6pm online accepted and confirmation received.
A reminder email also received claiming you were looking forward to us coming and enjoying your hospitality.
I knew you would be busy being Canada Day - thus the reason for the reservation.
Well after an exhaustive day for seniors it was time to enjoy a relaxing quality dinner.
NO SUCH EVENT TRANSPIRED.
YOUR HOSTESS ADVISED NO RESERVATIONS WERE BEING TAKEN DUE TO CANADA DAY AND WOULD BE A MINIMUM OF 1 HOUR WAIT.
THIS AFTER YOUR CONFIRMATION AND REMINDER EMAILS - Very poor service.

SUGGEST YOU GET YOUR ONLINE PROGRAMING CORRECTED TO STATE IF YOU HAVE EXCLUSIONS TO BOOKING ON CERTAIN DATES

Ordered the avacadoe crab sandwhich. The avacadoe was brown, and completely rotten. I had to scoop out all the avacadoe because it was inedible. The sandwhich was smothered in mayo, and was literally peeing mayo juice out the bottom all over my hands. Taste was not great, crab didnt taste fresh either. The side house salad side dressing was nice, however i had to once again pick out rotten pieces of lettuce. Upon notifying the server she offered a complementary dessert.

Everything is overpriced, you pay for the view. While menu looks great, the grade ten students both cooking and serving at the restaraunt are just practicing with your wallet.

I have gone several times, the time before this my brother sent his food back twice. Very disappointing.

Go to pajos for fish and chips and blue canoe for drinks and you might be on to something.

Had dinner there tonight and the waterfront burger was terrible - dry meat, virtually no toppings - just awful. Told the server who just shrugged. Used to love this place but won't be back. Heard they're shutting down - maybe just as well. Better off at McDonalds (and I never thought I 'd say that).

Delightful Experience. I always enjoy blue Canoe: amazing menu, great venue , and very gracious staff.

Too Bad!. I wanted something light so I ordered the fish tacos. What a disappointment! The fish was spongy, watery and had almost no flavour. I suspect it was frozen and nuked in a microwave. The cabbage filling was bland and the salsa, although freshly made, was flavourless - no onion, cilantro, spices, garlic or any other discernable seasonings - I just tasted acid. The last time I visited the restaurant 1 1/2 years ago is was heading down hill. I think it finally completed the trip. i won't go back.

Beautiful.. My friend and I were seated on the back patio, directly over-looking the water.

We each ordered a new beer that the server recommended - an unfiltered citrus flavored White IPA by a company called Chain Breaker - which I am now on the hunt for!

We started with a dozen raw oysters followed by the best lobster mac and cheese we both had ever eaten.

As a main, we shared the halibut and the steak and quinoa salad - which were both 10 out of 10's.

Before we left, the head chef came over to our table to say hello and to make sure that we enjoyed our food.

I felt compelled to write a review because our experience was that good. My friend made the comment that it felt as if we were on vacation!

What a beautiful place with excellent food and very friendly staff!

Racist Waitstaff. I have never been to a restaurant with service as horrible as this restaurant. We were standing in front of the entrance for 5 minutes before someone approached to seat us.
After looking at the menu, when we were about to order, I kept raising my hand and calling the attention of the server. No one approached us. Even the chefs who were having their lunch could see us raising our hand but no one called the servers' attention. The servers were just walking around the restaurant and were pretending not to see us. After 15 minutes of trying to call a server, one guy finally approached and told us he would be right back. We waited for another 15 minutes but he never came back. We saw him chatting with some Caucasian guests on the patio. That's when we decided to walk out of the restaurant.
I don't care if people say their food is great. I am definitely not going back there. There are lots of restaurants in Vancouver that serve great food and provide great service. Dining in a restaurant is not just about food. It's the whole experience. Food + service + ambience.

Loved the food. Service was not attentive. Atmosphere was nice.

Arrogant Staff. We have been to the Blue Canoe about five times in the past and the food and service was good. However last week's experience changed everything. My husband made a reservation for 6:00pm. When we arrived, there was no one at the door taking care of the seating arrangements. We eventually found a person to announce our arrival. We were shown a table inside the restaurants. We asked to be seated on the patio as we've made a reservation.
By that time another person, an arrogant, possibly a maître'd barked at us: 'we don't take reservation for the patio'. Rather strange, but OK. We than proceeded to our reserved table inside. After some ten minutes we saw people leaving a patio table and my husband went to the same person to ask to be moved outside. The arrogant man - don't have his name - barked one more time: 'No, we have people waiting for tables outside' . My husband than explained he has not been informed of any of this when making the reservation or, when we've arrived. The maître'd looked completely disinterested and did not try to accommodate us at all. He did say once 'I am sorry'. Because of his arrogance my husband than made a decision to leave. We went to the Mega Sushi instead, where we were welcomed and had a PLEASANT and relaxed dinner.
I am also wondering what happened to the Blue Canoe and I wish the owner would read guests reviews. There are few of a similar experience as ours. Needless to say, we will NOT visit Blue Canoe again. I am very surprised at their lack of interest in guests.
As an owner of Blue Canoe, with hundreds and hundreds of restaurant choices in Richmond, I'd be worried. It does not take long for the word to spread.

Worst service ever. Waited 25 min for service to no avail, got fed up and finally just walked out.

Bad bad service would not recommend!!

Great food, good service! Drinks aren't bad either. The seafood trio salad is quite good too! Lobster Mac and cheese is to die for!!

Winter Waterfront Burger delight. At the Blue Canoe with my Social Media class this evening. I'm usually here in the summer, sitting on the patio, enjoying a glass of Rose and local veggies with freshly caught fish. Today though, they surprised me with their Winter Waterfront Burger that featured roasted wild mushrooms and crispy pancetta. Instead of a Rose, I had a glass of Gamay Noir from BC - most excellent combo. The service and atmosphere, as always, was impeccable.

What the hell happened to this place???. We used to frequent this place because it was excellent, however, the last 3 or 4 visits have left us wondering what has happened to this restaurant? We ordered oysters las time and they looked like they had been shucked by a rototiller. We also had to bear witness to some of the wait staff (female) sit on the patio and party it up with an obnoxious and loud fellow we assumed to be the manager. NOT PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR. As local Stevestonites we are wiping this place off of our list forever. Good luck Crap Canoe!!!

Had fish and chips. The fish was good but the rest of the meal wasn't anything special. Was a bit too salty and portions were way to small for the price.

What happened??. Oh Blue Canoe...what has happened to you?
The food and service used to be so amazing, always friendly and warm and the food (although pricey) was always delicious.

Two terrrrrrible meals in a row there will now keep me away for good. I used to love the mussels, and ordered one of the three varieties they offered every time I went there. Last time I was there, I ordered the mussels (now they only offer one type) again. The broth was OK if you like creamy, but the undercooked and very large chunks of hard fennel and under ripe tomato are just awful. This, coupled with a rude manager and staff has me telling everyone to check out better places in Steveston. Too bad!
Esther
The wait time!!. I'm not a big fan of seafood so I tried their chicken sandwich and it was pretty good. my friend had the winter waterfront burger and declared that it was the best burger she ever had. The lobster mac and cheese? Delicious. So the food may have exceeded my low expectations but as the other reviews have already indicated, the wait time for food is ridiculously slow. 45+ minutes for appetizers? For that reason alone I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone

Everything is good. I havent had anything there that wasnt amazing.

Disappointed. We were at the Blue Canoe last night for a friends birthday. We made the trek from North Burnaby in a torrential downpour, got lost as the restaurant didn't appear to have a sign out front. I had to walk along the boardwalk to find it. Once inside I noticed they had martinis on for $5 so when the server asked me what I would like to drink I asked her what kind of gin they were putting in the martinis. She said it was Bombay so I ordered one which I enjoyed. For dinner I had the salmon sliders and ceasar salad. The sliders were disappointing as the salmon was strands of salmon with strands of beets on them. I would have preferred a piece of salmon rather than strands and I didn't enjoy the beets on it at all. The sliders were about $14 for three which would have been okay if they were phenomenal but they weren't. The salad was good. After dinner I ordered a coffee with a Frangelico on the side and bought my friend a Monte Cristo. The real disappointment was the bill. We paid it and left and then wondered why it was so much higher than we thought. It turns out that I was charged $8 for each martini when they were advertised for $5. I was also charged $3.75 for a cup of coffee and about $6 for the Frangelico which means the coffee and liquor came to $9.75 when my friend's Monte Cristo was only $7. If they are going to charge $3.75 for coffee the server should have suggested that I order a special coffee rather than a liquor on the side. I will not return as I didn't enjoy my meal and felt ripped off on the drinks.

We enjoyed this restaurant very much. Had nice seats on the patio right next to the water. The food is upscale, a little pricey, but good. The chicken sandwich looked awesome but was a little bland, but the sides with it (fries and salad) were great. The grilled shrimp appetizer (comes with a small cucumber salad) was very good, and same with the feature soup, lobster bisque. No complaints about the service.
Funbus
As others have said, decent food but the service is so so slow! If you have an hour and a half for an uncomplicated lunch then go for it. We won't be back.

A "dining expeirience" good food, good service, great atmosphere and view. I'd been told to visit blue canoe by plenty of people so when we finall had the opportunity we jumped on the heated patio. Being vegitarians there wasn't much for us - but we had expected their menu would be a majority of seafood. So we opted for appies and cocktails. The waitress, who smiled through having an incredibly rude and demanding table down from us, was quick to let us know one of the appies had meat (which we didnt even notice, so props to her menu knowlegde!), we made a quick substitution and was delish! Everyone around us seemed to enjoy their meals as well. Their signature cocktails, which we had a chance to try a few instead of a large meal were fantastic!
PandaKid
Great View!!. To be perfectly honest the food was average, the service was good, and the view was better than you'd expect... Only downside was the speakers on the patio were blown and they must have had someones ipod on, and literally played the same 8 songs over and over...

Great food (my Lakeside salad was delicious). Everyone at our table remarked on how tasty their meal was. The service was very good. Even though we stayed a long time, staff was attentive and cups refilled. Beautiful view. Will come again

Good food. Courteous staff. Seafood platter WOW. I will be back.

Quite possibly my favorite restaurant. Great food, great staff, great location and a great beer menu. Very busy in the summer. Make a reservation.

In response to kamloops. This is my first time writing something on urban spoon, however i felt compelled to respond to from kamloops reaction and comments. My bf and I were sitting at the table beside said family. The woman was extremely rude to the hostess, she called her stupid for seating her at a stunning table. Let me add any table the blue canoe has a great view with huge windows. We heard her mumble under her breath a few choice words after the hostess left. The lady with her two sons and perhaps her husband were the only ones at the table the whole time. There was never any elderly people seated. The server a young man appraoched their table and we heard the lady say did something like "did i offend your hostess" . a few minutes later the manager came out and introduced himself. The womans response was "oh great" smuggly she knew she was offensive. I felt sorry for the hostess she spoke down to. And the manager was right in asking her to leave. She caused us to feel uncomfortable and i am sure the staff at the blue canoe to feel uncomfortable. I would be ashamed if this was my behaviour and how a woman treats another woman so belittling. She is not showing her kids a very upstanding human way to talk to people. She also lied about the elderly people their. They may have been coming but the definately were not there at that time. This woman does not deserve her words spoken to be heard, or her words written to be read. Good on you Blue Canoe for asking this woman to leave. She was an awful human being.

The worst service I have ever seen or had. Your rating: Hated it We don't know how the food is as we upset the Hostess and Manager when we asked if they could move the tables so our family could sit together and he (manager) told me I was rude and we were not welcome in his establishment. My 82 yr old father, his 79yr old girlfriend, 12 yr old son, 9yr old nephew, 46 yr old brother, and myself 51. I did try to placate him but then he told me I was condescending. We then went to Sockeye City and had excellent service, wonderful food and will go there again. :)

I had the bacon breakfast sandy on baguette. It was retardedly good! The Americano was stroooong and tastey. I'd come back most definitely

Horrible from start to finish.. Tonight i went with my friend for the first time to this place after talking about going for a whole month. It was bad from start to finish. Feature wine only sold by the bottle; overly salty crab and overly bland prawns from the appie platter; a horrible entree of coconut coated pan fried sablefish served over horrible yellow pineapple curry with overcooked mushy cauliflower, under-cooked green beans weird thin slices of carrot and bland potatoes (fresh delicate fish like sablefish served like this, couldn't even tell we were eating fish); another horrible entree of severely salty mussles n clams with hay stack fries in their Canoe style sauce. The mussles and clams were so difficult to eat that i had to return it and ask that they remake in the classic style. My remade entree came out half the size and too our astonishment was the same order rinsed off and plated with the classic sauce and what remaining uneaten fries from the orginal order. How? you may ask that we came to this conclusion, from the bits of blue cheese and bacon still inside the shells of the now overcooked mussles and clams. Not only was our waitress not sympathetic in the matter of unsatisfied customers she avoided us entirely until we asked for the bill. She wouldn't even listen to why we were not happy with our meal. Now that is BAD SERVICE FOR YAH!

Good food. As goes with most of the reviews food is good but service is terrible pack for a picnic as everything is a huge wait, from ordering to food delivery a table of eight for lunch with no appys booze but mains and dessert shouldnt take 2 hours. Wont go back unless I run out of steveston resteraunts to try

A fantastic beer selection lots of great styles and tastes!

Wow!!!. Great restaurant and the food is to die for!!! Tough to find parking in the summer time.

Disorganized and very bad service. It is too bad, the view is great. Turning into another "tourist only" establishment. I am surprised they made I through the winter.

Got it right. Steveston was crying out for a decent waterfront restaurant and Blue Canoe has filled the void. Fresh menu, primarily seafood but options for everyone, and a homemade lemon meringue pie to die for.

Atmosphere: Great outdoor patio that, realistically, is only serviceable for 3 or 4 months a year although it does have large heaters.

There are some t.v.s in the front but the dining lounge doesn't have any which is nice since you're looking out at the river and Salish Sea.
Matt Gibson
Not a stand out, but not a miss either. As others have said, don't go here expecting a fantastic culinary experience. That being said, it's worth going here at least once. The views are fantastic, and the food is above average.

Nice location on the wharf. Friendly service. The food was not that extraordinary. Nothing to make it a culinary experience. Pricey.

The Steveston Showcase Special menu was great! And a bonus Tea sample bag to take home ...excellent!

Great decor, gorgeous view. And salmon-avocado tartare to die for. Really the best I've had since my favourite restaurant in Ottawa that specialized in this dish closed. And the view at sunset is stunning. Plus friendly, very professional waitstaff.

Nice place, friendly owner and staff, especially nice especially on a warm sunny evening. Little bit pricey.

A good view, good service, and good food? Hard to find… yet still alive! A restaurant that can do seafoods and meats done perfectly is hard to find… But Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant is a restaurant of many talents! A beautiful restaurant located in Steveston along the water is a beautiful place for a nice evening out. Both the outside and inside are designed beautifully making you feel at home. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a friendly hostess who showed us to our seat (which we requested inside) and we were seated at a beautiful booth with a nice view of the water (this restaurant was off to a great start… and the night was just beginning! Looking at the menu I noticed it had quite a large variety of dishes. The seafood is what I was impressed with… Depending on the season they only carry certain types of fish which means you only get the freshest stuff! Tonight I had to go for the Sashimi Grade Albacore Tuna because a great seared tuna is hard to find! As well as the Roasted

Located at the east end of the boardwalk, the room is divided into a few zones: a raucous bar, a slightly quieter room beside the bar, a traditional dining room looking over the water and a heated patio with convertible covers (perfect for those 10 months of rainy weath

I’ll give you a heads up about Steveston, don’t be in a hurry, take your time and relax. Do what my buddy Gus and I did, walk up to the hostess at Blue Canoe, put your name on the wait list, give her your cell # and go for a walk on the boardwalk. They’ll call you when your table is ready. We went for a quick walk and checked out Fisherman’s Wharf and some of the cool fun shops along the way.

Hi Everyone, I had lunch at the Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant today in Steveston Village’s waterfront area. This place is full of waterfront restaurants with nice patios and great views of the water. It’s just a few steps away from Sockeye City Grill , the other restaurant that I blogged about, and in fact Jess and I were considering trying this restaurant last time but they were busy as well, so we walked on and ended up at Sockeye. We arrived at this restaurant right when they opened, so there was no trouble getting a table, but soon after the patio was filling up fast and becoming full in no time. Their website says they won Richmond’s Best Restaurant award, so this must be good. The patio was nice and spacious, covered, had heating available, and several tvs as well. They also provided blankets for each table in case it was cold, which in the beginning it was a bit chilly as the breeze from the water was coming in and it wasn’t that warm yet. The table was a bit sticky, but not

What’s not to love about a great open patio space located on the pier next to Fisherman’s Wharf in Steveston. This long stretched patio space overlooks the marina and river traffic! We were looking for a great place to chill while catching some rays after work on Friday. TGIF must be done right. We were seated almost right away. How thoughtful of them to include a blanket in case it gets chilly at night after the sun has set.

That day, I felt like we paid more for the view more than anything. I would not come back again now that I know a better place that serves good quality oysters.

There were 4 oysters, salmon in a jar with caper biscuits, ginger albacore tuna and a handful of chilled crab claws and prawns. The oysters were small but still juicy enough. The prawns were rather bland and I had to dip them in creamy aioli and pepper. The aioli was great and complemented the seafood well. We were given utensils to crack the crab shells. Upon closer inspection though, we noticed there were
