Review Taftan Kebobs - Richmond Hill

Great place. To dine, have events, birthdays, dates everything. Great service and food too. Luxury place for reasonable price. They have live persian music too.

I’ve been here for special events and gatherings. It’s overall good but I find that the food is served cold. The live music is very nice and makes it a fun atmosphere. It does however get too loud at times, so it’s hard to have a conversation. You also have to be comfortable being around a big crowd again with the lifting of restrictions.

Had a great time and the food was amazing. Did take a little long to get served but the live music and dancing makes the time fly by.

I was at Persian Palace for a wedding party yesterday. Amazing food and desert, great atmosphere. The service was very attentive and the staff were friendly. Specially Mr. Siamak with his energy make everything enjoy the dance part. I had a good experience and enjoyed a lot.

We arranged and recently held our wedding celebration party at Persian Palace. I cannot speak highly enough about Syed, Suheila and all of the friendly and attentive staff at this restaurant, which presents as 2 separate banquet halls. The ambiance of the front dining room and dance floor area is spectacular; and of course, the food is completely delicious and reasonably priced. If you are looking for an amazing venue to host your next party, or just a nice romantic dinner for 2, you should definitely consider Persian Palace. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this venue.

Hi everyone! I have called this restaurant to reserve a table on Sunday for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately I didn’t like the service, whatever we wanted on their menu was not available! I am Persian and I felt so much embarrassed. My parenté asked for ice tea they didn’t have! We were so surprise that this restaurant was for big to take whatever they have. They provide menu but when you ask they say it is not available. Then it is better to shut it down if you can not serve people. There was X6 no music on, we were not expecting that. Not only we never go there again but also we don’t recommend anyone go there too. Thank you for reading our review.

Amazing food, just great! The service was very attentive and friendly. The only thing I would not recommend is cream brûlée - it is the one they sell at Costco. Otherwise, the food and service were superb!

We had a memorial event in Persian Palace last night and I am very happy and pleased with the service that we received. Everything was great: set up, food, staff behaviour,… I would recommend this place if you are planning for an event or gathering.

I really love your kebab but this place is just good for take-out.

I'm not very impressed. The food is not bad but I have two complaints,1-The place is PRETTY small and there was no air conditioning. 2- I was their with my parents and bro 10-20mins ago, ordered some stuff and 2/3 drinks. When we got home I checked all the bags but there was NO coke/drink. I checked the car...NOTHING! I check the receipt,it says we did order the coke but it's not here...

Best kabobs!!!. My boyfriend and I love this place! We occasionally order their chicken dark meat dinner and their steak kebob!! Soo tender, juicy and flavorful! We got introduced to this place from our Persian friends and were blown away. Must try! Take out only.

Horrible. They are very lucky that their food is good or I never would have referred my boyfriend to getting takeout for his office for lunch. If you want them to deliver it for you DONT say yes and your food will come 2 hours late, apparently 1230 to them is 2.

Great kebab at average prices. I like Taftan kabab take-outs for a couple of reasons:

1- They take phone orders with no hassle
2- They prepare the food rather quickly, typically before I even get there.
3- Kebabs are most of times above average quality, The reason I say this is that I understand unless you buy daily fresh slaughtered meat from the same location and same breed of cow or lamb its very difficult to deliver the same softness and juiciness all the time. So yes from time to time
I get kebabs that are not that great but I'm being realistic
with my expectation. It's a really tough business.

BAD SERVICE. Taftan kebab used to be really good. But it's getting worse and worse these days. They are really rude on the phone, once you place ur order, they hang up on you right away. I ordered mahicheh one day, when i got home and opened the box, there was no mahicheh, ONLY RICE. i had to drove back and got it. Honeslty, these are the stupidest mistakes.. That was the last time i ever went there again.

BEST KABOB in GTA and possibly the world!!!!. Small place, no place to sit but hey, WORTH ALL the money and the time there!
As an Iranian I can tell you, this place makes THE MOST AMAZING KABOBS I have ever tasted both in Iran and GTA!

Fast Iranian Food. E: Taftan Kabab is an Iranian hole-with-a-lot-of-people-in-it-in-the-wall with several stools and countertops for 'drive-by' on-premise eating. The take-out place serves inexpensive Iranian staple chelo-kabob (rice and kabob) made from beef, lamb or chicken each made with different recipes and combinations. The kabob is decent and even more so for the price. The rice is hit and miss. They apparently either switch suppliers from time to time or get delievered rice with inconsistent quality. Iranian rice is long-grain, designed to be fluffy and elongated after cooking and prepared by boiling, simmering and steamed for a lengthy period. It is often good at Taftan, but sometimes not light and tasty as it should be.
Taftan, on a rotating basis, also serves 'home styled' Iranian dishes like Bademjoon (eggplant), ghaimeh (cubed meat with French fries and stew with a lemon flavour) and Fesenjan (pomegranate and walnut flavoured stew) all served with rice.
They also offer their kabobs in sandwich form.
The food is tasty and they do not skimp on the quantity.
A Sultani chelo-kabob (rice with two different skewers of kabob) is likely the most expensive option on the menu for about $16 - notwithstanding the combo or platters for several people- while koobideh chelo-kabob (rice with ground meat) is no more than $10. It is tasty.
All meals come with the traditional fried tomato (which gets mashed into the meal) salad and Iranian spice (somagh) included. The rice is topped with saffron, which is aromatic and part of the chelo-kabob recipe.
Must-o-khiar (yoghurt and cucumbers) and must-o-museer (yoghurt and shallots) are available when not sold-out. I have tried the latter item and it is tasty and rich. It is so simple, yet so filling.
-
A: This place has the ambiance of a low-end bazaar backroom's kitchen, the aroma of a large kabob house in a dingy place and the charm of a slaughterhouse all stuffed into one small corridor (not that I believe I have ever seen any one of these settings)... with a dozen people in it at any given time.
The dishes and its prices are pictured above the cash with few frills, side-dishes or options available.
Practically, they could not afford to offer anything else given how busy they already are and how they need to turn customers attempting to take food away.
They grill skewers of kabob behind the cash and the smoke and aroma can sometimes be felt, but the bigger fun is when the whole smoke and its associated aroma emanate from the chimney on the roof and engulf the area. Having seen it at least twice I wonder how the proprietor of the Korean restaurants next door feel about the waft of Iranian food overtaking the area.
-
T: They are quick and eager to take one's order, pack the food, take one's cash or debit and serve the next customer. However, Taftan is popular and is consistently busy so it is a good idea during the prime early evening hour to call ahead and place an order, which they will have ready and packed in 10 minutes.
Parking is scarce as well. It is not because it is a sit-down establishment. It is because many people take out food and the neighbouring restaurants attract many clients.
-
S: The service, as it is, is comprised of a busy lady or two behind the counter taking orders, answering the telephone, charging the clients, assembling salad and being efficient. A few people take advantage of the counters to eat in, but those are a minority. I am not a frequent customer by any means, but the last time I placed a telephone order the woman on the telephone neither said 'good-bye' nor 'thank'you' before hanging up.
A better option - albeit obviously more expensive - for eating Iranian as dine-in at an actual restaurant is either Shishlix across from Taftan or at Friends, which is in the plaza in the back. I cannot review or vouch for Friends' food.
Incidentally, Taftan is a provincial town in eastern Iran. The owner of this restaurant might hail from that far flung area of Iran.
