Review Senbazura Sushi - Richmond Hill

Definitely one of my go to sushi spots close to home. The food is made with fresh ingredients. Definitely recommend the salmon love set. Great selection and good value!

The service was good but the rolls were nothing special. I would not give them 2 stars because it's unfair, but neither would I give them 4 or 5 stars because the quality of food was meh. I most likely won't be going back to Senbazuru Sushi Bar. IMHO, Ichiban on Leslie 5 min away is way better.

Always loved my experience here. Quiet and neat environment. Amazing chefs. Friendly and attentive staff. I came with friends or family. Never had enough of the food here. Sashimi is a must try. I enjoy them with sake. Udon with roasted beef is my son’s favourite. It comes with a separate dish or the sliced steak, cooked as you wish. Price is very reasonable. Highly recommend! With either social function or family gathering, you will never go wrong with this one.

Small little Japanese sushi bar tucked in the village gate plaza off Bayview Ave - amazingly fresh sushi/sashimi of good quality at an affordable price!! ($$). Sashimi was served over ice keeping the sashimi at a goos temperature keeping it fresh and not leaving you feel like you had to wolf it down before it became room temperature. It was super fresh and pieces were a good thickness and slightly bigger than bite size. Loved the dish! Beef roll with enoki mushrooms is one of my favorite dishes but without bias, it was a little heavy on the oil but still delicious. The meat was dripping in juice and had great flavor paired with my favorite enoki mushrooms. Rainbow roll. Loved the combination of ingredients in the right amounts. If I had to comment on something, the roll was a little bigger than bite size so had to take two bites to eat it however, the roll kept together even after being bit into two halves which is good to note! The rice was also a good texture, soft and sticky, made just right. My favorite was the flavor of smoke salmon just bursting in flavor at every bite, they don't jip you on that part! 👌🏾 The Phoenix roll. Loved the variety of fish on this roll, it claims to have spicy mayo but for those who can't eat spicy (like me), it was not spicy at all! The roll was delicious and I'd order it again! The tempura shrimp is good. Not as oily as some other Japanese restaurants, but nothing too epic to write home about. It was good. The ramen is good, the best part of it was the pork belly and the egg. Even though the egg is not your traditional Japanese egg but they have their own style and it is just as delicious in their own recipe kind of way. The ramen itself was good but it could be a little bit more chewy and tender to make it even better. Overall this ramen is good, would order it again! Overall, it's a cute little restaurant located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Perfect place for meet ups with friends, casual dates and small family dinners. Price is very affordable and it's a place I would go to when I feel like a quick Japanese meal in the area without killing the wallet but getting good quality. They also do take out with 10% off cash only and free deliver with orders over $30. Recommend! 👌🏾

Ordered via Uber eats, app show ready to pick up but it wasn’t. The lady/ sever didn’t tell me how long I need to wait, so I asked. I was told to wait for another 10 mins, without any apology. The man behind the sushi bar was so rude and he’s saying in Chinese that “the store just opened, how could we possibly have your food ready?” May be he thought I don’t understand Cantonese or may be he just couldn’t care less how customer feel. I ordered 11:30am, app show food is ready at 11:40am. If the food is not ready, then don’t click “ready” on the app ..... I ordered a sashimi on rice combo. It’s very sad looking with 2 surf clams (not too fresh), 3 slices of snapper (not too fresh either) and 2 thick slices of salmon. Rice is warm and cooked just right, which is good. I’ll let the picture do the talking.....

A very good place to order Japanese food from - I personally absolutely love salmon sashimi, and the ones I'm getting from Senbazuru Sushi Bar are always fresh, attractive to look at and rich in taste. And notice those chunks of avocado in their Avocado roll - it's huge compare to what I've seen in much more expensive places. Good job, guys, please, stay open!

Great place with excellent caring staff. They took such a good care for my daughter's birthday party with her friends. Sushi rolls were well made and very fresh. Thank you!

Firstly, I have eaten at this restaurant for the past 4 years of my life. I can candidly say that the service has depreciated to an unbelievable degree. On June 28, 2017 I ordered a combo for one and the server had taken down the wronger order. She returned shortly thereafter with a combo for two. As I picked up my chopsticks she quickly came around, picked up my dish, and said she made a mistake. She then came back, with what looked like pieces from the first dish, scooped onto another smaller dish, with obviously less pieces. When the bill came, I debated whether to tip or not. I tipped less than 10% and asked to speak with the manager to share my experience. instead of the manager coming, another employee who stated she was the manager, I simply mentioned that as a long time customer, it is quite discouraging to have a server make a mistake, then scrap off the previous pieces onto another dish. The "manager" replied with "we will consider this next time."She then walked to the actual manager to relay the message. Not only was this dishonest, but they shoveled an honest complaint to someone else. From this moment forward, I will never eat at his restaurant again - even if it is a local business it is hard to support such awful ethics.

Probably the WORST sushi I've ever had. Bland bland bland. There's no way this is made fresh.

Mediocre. Nice atmosphere for a Chinese owned sushi place. The food is decent and good for the price. It tastes better than all you can eat places, but not my favourite place by far. It's one of those places for a quick sushi fix on a budget.

Family Favourite. My family and I have been visiting this location for over 10 years and we have never been disappointed. The staff is very friendly and remembers our favourites and most importantly the quality is very fresh. They regularly come out with new items on their menu that are fun to try. The price us very reasonable as you are definately paying for good quality sushi They are always open on the holidays and also offer 10% on take out orders so I always pick some up on my way to holiday parties.

This place was hilarious. They brought one miso soup for a party of two and the waitress put it right in the middle of table: share. Need I say more?

Great atmosphere, good tasting food and fair prices. Definitely check it out

Racists!. My daughter and I walk into Senbazuru for dinner and when the waitress asked this Asian lady to move her coat bc she was taking up 2 tables she actually had the audacity to say "the restaurants not that busy they can sit somewhere else".!!!!!!!! Wtf is that!!!!!

After I told the woman how ignorant and rude she was the waitress takes us to the back of the f*** restaurant!!!!! I'm sorry are we so black that we should be entering through the back entrance of the restaurant!!!!!! I was so so offended and mortified I let the waitress know (and by know means in a quiet voice) and left!!!! I've lived in RH for over 20 years and have eaten at this restaurant since its inception....if I could picket out front and let all non Asian customers to run I would. The waitress didn't apologize and the other staff acted like nothing happened.

Best, Fresh Sushi!. Ok I was obsessed with sushi and I loved all you can eat until I started going to this place, (not this location but the one in oak ridges) honestly I will never go back to all you can eat sushi ever again. This place has the best quality, and prices and very friendly staff. I'm hooked and I refuse to go anywhere else for sushi.

A little expensive but fresh. At the end of the day they stand up and deliver fresh sushi and the pieces are big. I am a sushi expert and I still say Ginza is better trust me I have eaten at all important authentic sushi restaurants in town.

Fresh and flavourful, reasonably priced, absolutely best Shrimp Tempura! ***Tip- Don't order all your food at the same time, order as you finish each course***

Slow, inattentive dare I say sullen service! Went last night at my boyfriend's insistence: he only ever does take out here and says the food is not the best, but solid, considering the other options in this neighborhood. Pacing of our meals was not considered, leaving one of us without an entree while the other ate, feeling awkward. I did not enjoy my meal, a curry pad thai , which was dry and uninteresting: all noodles, very few vegetables, and no lime wedges to liven it up. Waited unacceptably long time for our bill, after requesting third time it was presented with no apology.

Great sushi! Location in oak ridges has really good decor and vibe!

Amazing good, stellar service. Been going for 10 years and never been disappointed

Great sushi. Have been getting take-out from this restaurant for past few years and have always been very pleased with the quality of the food. The people there have not appeared to be overly friendly but not a concern of mine; prices are fair and the food is very fresh and well presented even in take-out containers. To me the rice is perfect which is a big thing for me - not too sticky, not too dry, nice flavour. You get 10% discount for paying cash which is not unusual but does help. Give it a shot! They have a newspaper article up on the wall that has an endorsement from the kielburger brothers which is a pretty good one in my books

Not very good.... Senbazuru Sushi Bar delivered a flyer to my house this week so I decided to give the place a try. Perhaps this should have been a warning sign. In Richmond Hill, good Sushi Bars do not need advertising. Food was mediocre, service was pitiful. There are better places for Sushi in Markham/Richmond Hill... Avoid.

We decided to meet up for dinner at a middle point between our houses and it happened to be Senbazuru. I've been living in Richmond Hill for more then 10 years now but I've never even heard of it (thank goodness for Urbanspoon).

The outside of Senbazuru was kind of sketchy, it looked like a beaten down diner. However, once I walked in I found a clean and modern interior. All I hoped was the food was as surprising as the decor;). Edamame Obviously there is nothing interesting about Edamame, but it was made properly. Boiled and then ran under cool water before dusted with salt. Not soggy li

Overall I would definitely recommend coming here again. The price of the rolls are similar to other restaurants in Toronto but it's a convenient location, tasty rolls, reasonably priced.

I had a catch up dinner with my friend, Manal, a few weeks ago. We decided to meet up for dinner at a middle point between our houses and it happened to be Senbazuru. I've been living in Richmond Hill for more then 10 years now but I've never even heard of it (thank goodness for Urbanspoon).

We started off with two Sushi Pizzas, Spicy Salmon and California, both were $9.00. Sushi Pizza is a deep fried rice patty topped with different various toppings. I really liked the spicy salmon, it wasn't overly spicy and the sauce had a slight sweetness to it and the salmon was fresh. I really enjoyed the crispy texture contrast with the soft salmon was so yummy!

We also got the Dynamite Roll (Shrimp Tempura, Avocado & Mayo), $5.00. This wasn't anything special.

We were still hungry so we got the Spider Roll (Soft Shell Crab, Fish Egg, Avocado, Cucumber & Mayo), $11.00.

I love soft shell crab and this one didn't disappoint.

Overall Senbazuru Sushi Bar serves up good sushi at a decent price, family friendly and the servers are quite attentive and friendly.
