Most authentic Northern Chinese dish. We always order the soup filled dumpling, best in GTA so far. I am also from northern part of China and this is as close as it get without traveling to China
With my lunch meeting free Tuesday, my colleagues and I were free to venture out for lunch. Unfortunately, I couldn't decide on a new restaurant close by and not too pricy. As a safe choice, we decided on going to Northern Dumpling restaurant at Time Square plaza on Hwy 7. If you couldn't tell, northern parts of China are very popular with dumpling style dishes. I have been here many times and the experiences have mostly been positive.
Regarding the food, I think it's pretty good. Safe choices are any of the dumpling style dishes. On this visit, we didn't get the fried shrimps (which you can eat whole). The soup dumplings are amazing and can't find a better place than this for it.
I only like the dumplings. This is coming from a picky eater. I tried several items on the menu and was disapointed a bit. But for the price cant complain
This place has one of the most authentic northern dishes and dumplings! I am from Northern part of China and this place tastes like home. I like their lamb dumplings, pork pot stickers and they have one of the best sweet and sour soup! Will definitely come back here on a regular basis!
Great mom & pop type restaurant serving up Northern Chinese cuisine. One of my favourite dumpling places. Nice selection of various dumplings: steamed, boiled or pan fried. Their soup filled dumplings (Xiao Long Bai) is really good. The wrap they use is nice & thin, and there is ample soup within. Eat it with a bit of ginger & vinegar. Be careful when you bite into it as the hot soup inside will squirt out. Best to bite a little hole in the wrap & suck out the soup before eating the dumpling. We usually just have the dumplings but I recall once I had the Shanghai noodles & that was good too. It's a bit oily but you can ask that they use less oil.
This place is cash only. I didn't realize the first time I came here.
Will keep going back.
In my opinion, the best dumplings north of Steeles. Must try pan fried dumplings and boiled dumplings. Prices are very reasonable as well given the quality. Recommended.

Great dumpling but. They made very good dumplings, great price too. I've tried quite a few different kinds of dumplings, fried/steam/boil and they all are great but that's it, other things on the menu are not as good compare to other Shanghai/Beijing restaurants.
Good stuff!. It's not a pretty restaurant, but the food is tasty and at a fair price. The dumplings are juicy and fresh, and are well balanced between meat and wrapper skin. Some of my other favourite dishes include spicy-salty fried fish and long green beans. If you feel like dessert, be sure to try the fried banana which is the kind that comes with an ice bath to harden the honey syrup coating.
Go with your Asian friend. Local favourite with the Asians on weekends and business suits drop in for a quick lunch weekdays. We paid $40 for 7 adults (and a two year old) to eat for brunch! Definitely have to try the pan fried dumplings and steamed pork and mushroom dumplings. Veggie dishes are garlic-y and pair well with your dumplings and tea. The deep fried green onion pancakes are a favourite.
Great dumplings. We tried to pan fried pork and leek dumplings and we loved them. The dumplings were very juicy and tasty! We also order beef noodle soup and stir-fry pork intestine (not sure of the exact name) on the side. The intestine was a bit spicy but seasoned really well. Will definitely order the dumplings and intestine again!
The beef noodle soup was a different story though... The beef was tender and tasty, but the soup base was quite bland. The worst part was that the noodles weren't handmade! When I go to a northern chinese cuisine place, I expect the noodles to be handmade! It was my fault for not doublechecking before ordering, but the result was quite disappointing...
When either 啊哥 and I are craving dumplings, this is where we go. If my family is indecisive of where to eat, this is where we end up. If we are disappointed in another restaurant and feel the future of GTA's food has no hope, we go here for reassurance.
The Northern Dumpling Kitchen, home of the amazing chicken potstickers. Aren't they beautiful? The potstickers were just as tasty as all the other times. I'm starting to drool just thinking about it. The xiao long bao (aka XLB or soup dumplings) are also
Delicious, hearty, comfort food here in this unassuming restaurant.
Dumplings are fresh and fast made. I love their chicken dumplings and their veggie dumplings.
Their other menu items are great too especially the savoury sticky rice rolls and their chewy stir fried noodles and the savoury soy milk soup.
Prices are good and portions are big. The owner is very nice and will remember if you are a repeat customer.
I always look forward to coming here if I'm in the area.
Got the🥟:
-Steamed Vegetarian Dumplings
-Steamed Leak and Pork Dumplings
-Soup Filled Dumplings ***
-Pan Fried Beef Dumplings ***
-Pan Fried Leek & Pork Dumplings
-Boiled Leek, Pork, Shrimp Dumplings
The items above with the stars were my favourite. The dumplings were nice and flavourful. Pan Fried dumplings had a good sear. Service was fast. Enjoyed how they provided tea and takeout container for leftovers.
If you're in the area it's a nice place to go and try. I wouldn't however go out of my way just to get dumplings here.
Take out dinner yesterday.
We ordered:
Steamed lamb dumplings
Pan Fried beef dumplings
Silver roll
Shrimp and pork won ton soup
Curry fried noodle
Shredded pork and pickled radish noodle soup.
All very yummy but the first three dishes were my fav.
Definitely worth a try. Will be back to order other dishes.
They finally renovated the restaurant, it’s more comfortable and clean environment than before! Service was definitely improved, the owner (?) checked on us consistently to make sure everything goes well and the lady kindly welcomed us to be seated.
-Wonton&HotSauce: average
-Soup Filled Dumplings: average
-Sweet&Sour Pork: average (pork was fresh and tender, but the flour batter was little hard to chew)
-Leek&Pork Dumplings: great 👍 highly recommend (well balanced)
-Onion pancakes: average
Overall, the food quality and price was okay!
Ordered pickled cabbage with pork dumplings and bbq lamb. Flavours are good. If you want the dumplings fried (with the bottom crispy) it’s an extra $2 but really worth it. The lamb was very tender. The Chinese bbq style is with a dry rub. Ordered via Uber so didn’t want to try the noodle dishes. But I recall from eating in pre COVID, noodles are not the specialty of this place. So I’d stay clear of them.
Straight fire food and service. Best food experience I've had in a long time. I've come here a couple times over the years and this time it has solidified itself. That lady server is GOATed. The service was also mad fast, ordered, got the food in 10, and everything came to our table back to back.
Multiple years on end it has always been great food. Always solid, I miss the Garlic Pork though, that used to be one of my favourite meat dishes ever.
This time I had the Leek Dumplings, the Cabbage Dumplings, the Soup Dumplings, the Spicy Fish Boil, the Cumin Lamb, and the Pea Shoots. They were all phenomenal. I can't believe this restaurant flexes towards so many regions of cuisine and variety and they're all good. Nothing like as absolutely striking as that Garlic Pork, but all the food was really good. Not too salty, not too oily, everything was very well balanced. The kind of food you can eat over and over again without feeling bad.
The absolutely thing that truly makes this one of my only real 5 star reviews is that service. Today is a Chinese Festival where you're supposed to eat this Glutinous rice dumpling and we asked jokingly and they also laughed at first they were like oh we don't make that. But then, the main server lady said her boss had given everyone there some of those rice dumpling home. She said she had already had them at home and offered to serve us them instead, which we graciously accepted.
Dumplings were good, ordered the soup and the pan fried with noodles and lamb skewers. Prices are fair. Does not take visa, debit and cash only. They give you a pot of tea with your meal. Service was a bit slow even though the restaurant was empty but overall would recommend for dumplings and a quiet night. Casual dining and lowkey.
This restaurant has a good lunch menu which comes with generous portion of hot and sour soup!
