It was a nice restaurant very clean but a bit cold when we were inside. The menu was great had a lot of selections. A great Chinese restaurant and the price was great. They had specials that were a great price and the Peking duck was amazing. We also had the lobster there but it was just ok because the size of the lobster. I would definitely come back to this restaurant we ordered about 8 dishes and 6 were really really good so I think it's a win!
I met up with a couple of friends on a Wednesday night after reading all the positive reviews. Not sure what type of Chinese food they specialized in based on the decor. On the menu they had the traditional Chinese dishes served during dinner, fried rice, fried noodles, rice porridge, soup noodles, baked spaghetti, and desserts. We ordered a rice soup with minced pork, dried fish, and oysters. This was paired with the beef fried noodle in Belachan style. Finally, my friend who showed up late ordered the rice with scrambled egg with tomato sauce. The rice soup was really tasty with lots of flavor in the soup with a hint of white pepper. The rice noodles had lots of beef and the noodle texture was done just right with lots of flavor without being overcooked nor sticky. Finally, the scrambled egg with rice over tomato sauce was well presented and had just the right amount of eggs and tomato sauce making it a tasty dish when mixed together with the rice. To top it off, they also gave us a delicious red bean pudding. The HK milk tea wasn't too shabby either. I think this will be my go to place for the next little while in Richmond Hill.
This was a new restaurant that open a few years ago and I went during the grand opening. It was quite disappointing. Fast forward a few years, my group of old friends decided to visit this place again. The decor looks the same and menu change dramatically. The food menu is quite similar to Congee Queen. For this visit, it wasn't packed with people.
...
food is great. Fireball at the table. Dinner and a show!!
There are a lot of really great restaurants in my neighbourhood. A lot. It’s hard to visit them all. Even if you have a favourite, its a challenge to visit it mush as you like because there’s always so many great choices. I’ve been My Wonderful Kitchen before but not as much as I liked.
This place is really good. Great food, comfortable chairs, neat looking food. I feel I'll be here a lot.
This place is within walking distance to my house, so there is zero parking anxiety. I do know there is a lot of parking. Behind you cn find a wee parking garage and you can park in the lot next door and take a (not so) secret staircase to get to here.
The building in on highway 7, you can tell newbies (I did it too so I'm not judging) because they come around to the highway 7 side and try to get in. There's no door there, it's around back.
The place is bright and modern. as you are ushered into the main dining room you pass by booths that are always filled with people, tables loaded with delicious looking and amazing smelling dishes. I found my self wondering what wonderful things these people were eating. in the main dining room you have the option of round tables, booths, or the booth/table hybrids.
Menus are in english and cantonese. There's a lot of choice. Something for everyone.
The decor is nice. They have a neat wall that's covered in cutting boards. The tables are close together but not jammed in like you find at some other restaurants. This is a nicer place, someplace you bring people you like.
The food is great. There was a special on a chicken in wine soup. I was just recovering from a cold so we got it. Kinda neat. They brought out a hot plate, the kind with a fire, and then put a covered pot with a clear liquid and some twigs and berries in it. Had it boil up
for a while. Then the guy tell my friend to watch out. Bam!!! GIANT FIRE BALL!! He set the liquid on fire. It was pretty awesome. Dinner AND a show! Talk about a show, they brought out black chicken, Never had that before. Raw it looked a bit like eggplant while cooked it looked a little bit like the creature from alien.
I seriously love the restaurants in my neighbourhood.
We also had sweet and sour pork. Served in a PINEAPPLE. Nice. Also had a vegetable dish with some beige sauce and pumpkin or some other squash. It was delicious. Would have never ordered it on my own. Yum.
My favourite was the salty spicy tofu. Will be ordering that every time I go. Finally we also got a hotpot rice, with chicken. It came lat when we were almost done.
I have to say every thing was delicious. the staff were great.
I give this place two thumbs up. :)
Always happy after I come to this restaurant. This time, we ordered 3 of their lunch specials which come with hot drink: the roasted pork with crispy skin and soy sauce duck on rice, the baked fish on white sauce spaghetti, and the steamed salted fish and minced pork.
All three were very generous portions, and despite being 3 pretty different types of dishes, all were well-sized made and tasty. The crispy pork skin was among the best I've ever had. I will definitely come back to order that item for takeout.
We a had enough food to pack 3 portions of extra meals after eating lunch!
Con: charges 1$ extra for takeout on lunch specials.
One thing I miss being in Calgary for a good chunk of the year is the HK style cafes in Vancouver. Calgary HK style cafes simply don’t cut it with the lack of authenticity and culinary skills. While in Toronto, we popped into My Wonderful Kitchen a couple times for different meals and boy did it feel like I was in HK!
This is my second post of My Wonderful Kitchen åç²¥å (see first one here), had some interesting dishes so I thought I should share. Fried Fish Skin $3.99. They totally increase their price from $2.95 to $3.99 but it's still worth it, it was even a bigger portion that I remember.
Overall, a great family friendly Chinese restaurant that takes pride in not only executing delicious meals, they also take the time for food presentation so you can eat with your eyes and roll out the door with lots of leftovers
We have visited a couple of times and had great experiences with food and service. Their bbq meats are good. We've tried both the roast duck and bbq pork. Their soup noodles come with generous portions and good texture. We tried the bakes bread but it wasn't a highlight. But looked neat. We will be back especially for their lunch and late lunch specials.
Afternoon Tea!. I love coming here for afternoon tea. The food itself is delicious, and there are many options to choose from. The portions are also very large as you could easily eat the full thing for dinner. It also comes with a drink (doesn't cost $0.75 to have a cold drink like every other place in Richmond Hill/Markham!) and a dessert. It is a very good bargain for the price you pay and it has made it to the top of my places to go for afternoon tea - it's highly recommended to visit!
This is my first try and I am surprised with the dishes. They are delicious, well- presented and creative. The sauces are a little bit thick and a little bit salty. Other than that everything is nice. The servers were helpful and polite, and the environment was comfortable.
Went there on a weeknight for dinner and the food was great. Had the House Special Fried Noodle and true to its name, quite special (presentation and flavor was very good). Also had the Beef Roll with Mushroom in Tomato Broth which was quite nice. The broth was excellent while the beef was a little chewy but still nice. Overall very good and highly recommend.
The whole thing was drenched in gravy sauce which made it SO delicious. It’s such a creative dish since the rice is baked inside and you have to use a fork and knife to carve into it.
Deep fried squid in spicy salt ($6.95) is one of my favourite dishes, so I've had it at uncountable restaurants, including Luckee . This was possibly one of the best versions I've ever had! Piping hot, the crispy crust retains its shape (creating almost a shell) while inside the squid remains tender and moist. Every piece was evenly coated with the spicy salt seasoning so there no bland ones. To top it off, they were presented with an edible "shell", what a great idea!
Came here twice in 2 weeks; very good food and decent prices. The quality and presentation of dishes actually surprised me. Having been a long time resident of the area for a number of years (during the '90s), its always interesting to find out what eateries have opened up and what their take is on Asian cuisine.
This place definitely steps up the dishes; I had a Pineapple Fried Rice dish (served as a pyramid of rice atop a quarter piece of pineapple), we also ordered chow mein, and a glass noodle dish with chives or garlic sprouts (I don't speak Cantonese so I'm usually describing in basic terms what the dish contained).
For desert we had some type of French Toast with chocolate syrup concoction - sort of following the trend of interesting deserts that are happening in Shanghai and elsewhere in China. Looks like other interesting deserts can be had as displayed in the photo gallery here.
The place gets busy fast with people having to line up (as with most Chinese restaurants).
Happy to see attention is paid to the decor with thoughtful use of color, materials; even a wall decorated with different shape cutting boards - definitely not a greasy Chinese kitchen with great food, but a clean, well lit, modernized eatery with great food. :)
At first glance, My Wonderful Kitchen 十粥十 looks like your standard congee and noodle place but it you look at their menu carefully, there's quite a few Hong Kong café specials that I have never see in Toronto.
Red Bean & Grass Jelly Freeze $3.95
Before all the fancy bubble teas, I remember having this. I just happen to be craving for this and this was just perfect dessert in a cup. Perfect proportion, the red bean wasn't made too mushy or sweet and a firmer grass jelly (compare to the softer ones in bubble teas) to give you something to chew on. Love the ice cream and the big mount of crush ice on top which was perfect when mixed up together and melted a bit so you can actually drink through the straw.
Deep Fried Fish Skin $2.95
The best thing you can get for that price really, we weren't expected such a huge plate. You basically dip it in the soup before eating it and that's the way to go but I know a lot of other places that don't serve it with the soup. Dipping it right before eating just give it the extra flavor without turning it soggy like for say with a sauce on top.
.
Baked Rice w/ Tomato Sauce Pork Chop served in Bread Loaf $8.95
Basically it's a deep fried brick toast that's been hollow out to fit the rice inside. This is an super indulgence / carb overload dish. The bread was crispy and added a lot of texture, That aside the basic was done really well, the fried rice with egg wasn't oily and dry as it should be while the pork chop was fatty and moist and the tomato sauce was perfectly on point. Even without the fancy brick toast, I would happily order their baked pork chop rice which is my all time Childhood favorite.
Instant Noodle w/ Pork Jowl in Cheese Sauce $7.95
This sounded good but thought the cheese was just salty with not much flavor but with their chili oil, it's perfect.
Deep Fried Chicken Wings w/ Chili Pepper (6pcs) $5.95
This is so perfectly crispy, moist, spicy oily goodness. A glass of cold beer and this would make a perfect night.
Verdict :
Love everything we had and will definitely be back for more.
Portion are rather big, so best for sharing.
Great for family since they have a bunch of bigger tables and got something for everyone's taste.
Menu have both traditional Chinese Dishes and also some more adventurous ones.
First visit for dim sum at this restaurant. The entrance is around back and does not face Hwy 7 even though the sign is visible from the road.
There is a robot that carries trays around. Purple decor and nice lights. It is very busy for dim sum on the weekend so even with a reservation at 1pm for our party of 6 on a Saturday, we still had to wait 30min before we were seated. Because it is so busy, the restaurant is VERY loud so it’s not easy to carry on a conversation. Come after 2pm if you want a quieter experience and less crowds.
Lots of items to choose from so there’s something for everyone. Good service. Good food. Good dim sum. 😋
My regular dim sum place. The steamed shrimp dumplings were simply delicious. The steamed pork dumplings were hearty and flavorful. The steamed chicken feet were yummy, rich in flavors. The steamed fish were fresh and tender. The steam rice rolls with fried dough were delightful. The service was excellent.
Just like the name, the restaurant is wonderful! Food was super delicious, staff was very warm and friendly. Prices were reasonable. Spacious dinning area. Washroom was nice and clean. Love the Robot 🤖 food delivery! Will definitely coming back and recommend!
Called in for takeout as they have an awesome deal for dim sum if you go and pick up yourself rather than using delivery services. You’ll save about half the price and the food was very tasty and hot to order. I will be coming back here from now on for my dim sum cravings in the future. Also only saw two area, but looked very elegant and spacious with bright interior lighting.
Came here for dinner with my family of 9 and ordered 2 different combos and the total was roughly only $350. It had everything you needed- seafood miso soup, Peking duck and lettuce wraps, curry crab, giant tiger shrimps, free range chicken, 2 vegetable dishes, sirloins steak with mushrooms and peas, 2 steamed garlic lobster with vermicelli, and dessert. High quality Chinese food for an affordable price! The Peking duck skin was super crispy, the shrimps very juicy, the curry crab was delicious, the steak had an amazing marinade. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal!
Ok Chinese restaurant. Crab and fish maw soup, lobster and chicken were good. Curry crab was too salty. Peking duck 2 dishes was little bit small for the price.
They have very reasonable dinner combos. Good sized portions and variety. Comes with dessert which was tofu flower tonight. This place does get very busy and loud at night
