Review Bamiyan Kabob - Richmond Hill

Very spacious but chairs, tables and decor very old. Price is great for the portion you get. Rice was a bit off on taste, salad was too heavy on the dressing (recommended ordering in the side) but proteins were well seasoned and tasty

Want to try Afghanistan cuisine? You need to try Bamiyan Kabob. There are several locations to choose from. I personally have already visited three of those locations. It's pretty straight forward. You line up at the front, order your food, pay either cash or debit, no credit card, then grab your receipt and wait for the Cashier to call out your number. The number is printed on the receipt. Once your number is called, head to the front and pickup your order. Don't forget to ask for their house white sauce because they usually just give their house red sauce. The menu prices are posted above the cashier area. If you are not familiar with the names of the food, just grabbed a printed menu at the Cashier counter or check their online menu. If you are dining in, just grab any available seat with your order at hand. Enjoy the food, especially their freshly baked naan bread. Once you're done, bring your food tray to the garbage area and leave it there. They are complimentary cups near the front counter for you to pour yourself some water to drink. At the time of my visit, I didn't get a chance to see if their outside patio is still available. There are washrooms at this restaurant with ample parking space. This eatery is located in the popular entertainment and food district of Richmond Hill. Barg Kabob Dinner comes with rice, salad and naan. Barq Kabob comes with salad and naan. Kofta Kabob wrap sandwich comes either mild or spicy. Tikka Kabob Dinner comes with rice, salad and naan.

They closed during covid and I thought it was closed for good. Thankfully it wasn't! It is open again and the food taste just as amazing before the shut down.

Loved their lamb shank plate and sandwich. A plate is lots of food for 1 person, affordable and delicious

Eid had this place packed, but that didn’t stop the workers from doing a great job and helping a whole lot of families get their food. I want to thank a lady who’s name I didn’t catch, seemed like she was the manager, offered me a free mango slush for waiting an extra 30 sec TOPS for my order. So thank you to her!

This place food is the best ! My whole family goes there all the time ! We order or dine at least once a week ! The quality and the service are exceptional! When these guys were closed because of Covid, we tried the other bamiyan places around the city and although the food was the same but it was not even close to your qualities! We love you guys and please keep this quality going ! See you soon !

Dining here & ordering food for many years. Ordered food today had a terrible experience. Ordered takeout over the phone, employee didn't tell me their pos machine is not working for some bank debit cards. Got there to find out, only TD Bank debit cards work. No one apologized for the inconvenience. Thought nothing of it went to get cash since they had it ready. I could have easily walked off. Came back & took food home. Found a long black strand of hair in rice. Wife called back a person identified himself as manager was very standoffish, told her "hurry what do you want I'm busy" told her she's lying saying bring it back with the hair instead of apologizing. The order taker picked up when I called, she was also poor in customer service, no mention of being sorry for the bad experience. I told them no one has the time to spend to drive over again for a $13 item. I didn't expect this type of poor service. Will not be going here again.

The menu didn't differ too vastly from what I recall: kabobs in various forms served alongside beige-tinted Basmati and warm flats of naan. A side of greens, dressed lightly with a translucent ranch-like drizzle, and diced tomato emulsion were also common counterparts.

...

Contradicting my memory was the naan bread, which exhibited a distinct aura of staleness. I'd also admit finding greater pleasure in Naan & Kabob's toasty, mellow rendition.

I snuck a bite of the tandoori chicken at one point: while smoky and undoubtedly tastier than that of my own plain grilled, it was spicier than tolerable.

Lol they're super slow, lazy and I got a hair from Naan? For real... Should I report it?? Won't be there anymore. Doesn't like location at Markham. So disappointed

We decided to give this place a try since it opened up in our area, but oh boy, it was quite disappointing. We really didn't enjoy the food here. I believe this is an Afghan restaurant and I thought it would be the same as Persian food but I was wrong. The chicken portion was smaller and didn't taste as juicy and tender as we would have. The rice wasn't the basmati rice we usually enjoy. This one had spices or herbs that didn't agree with us. Their chains seem to be doing well though, so I guess some people do enjoy it.

Portions are generous. I had the half chicken, it comes with side salad and pita bread. Chicken is done really well, juicy and spicy. Bread is fresh. Quality matches price you pay. Recommended for quick bite.

RM

After watching the new James Bond movie Spectre, my friends and I were starving. That's what happens when you watch a 2.5 hours of action packed movie! My friend suggested this place since she lives in the area. It reminds me a little of Paramount another Kabob restaurant. You order at the cashier and bring the food to your table when it is ready. You save on the tip and the portions are quite large. We ordered their lamb dinner, tandoori chicken dinner, and a side of beef kabobs to share. They give you two big pieces of Naan bread as well. The dinner comes with rice and salad. I really liked their Basmati rice, not dried but not too oily. My favorite was the beef as it was tender and not too dry. The tandoori chicken was slightly burnt and the lamb was fine.

The restaurant is in the section at East Beaver Creek and Hwy 7 where there are a lot of restaurants

There's lots of free parking, there's a lot of restaurants, you might find you have to park a bit further away if you are coming on a Friday or Saturday night.

This place is casual. Its not a table service restaurant. You have your choice of table or booth.

You order at a counter just like fast food style. You have a seat and the counter staff yell your number. They are really nice.

The food comes really fast.

You have tour choice of kabobs, salads, and wraps, etc.

I ordered the steak kabobs dinner. It's the one on the front cover of the menu and is the most popular menu item.

Your food comes on huge oval plates, overflowing rice, a green salad, a small tomato and onion salsa, and a piece of naan bread.

It was delicious. The steak was tender, great taste, the naan soft and chewy like you expect. The rice was cook well, not over or under done.

There was so much food I could have shared my plate. Ate half of it there and took the rest home, had it for lunch the next day. A wonderful treat!

.

Bamiyan Kabob again 👌🏻I really enjoy going to this location. It is so clean comparing to other locations. If you want to have a great taste of Afghan kebab and qabuli palaw, you should definitely try this place.

I love this place! The wait is long only because everything is made fresh to order. I call in my order and pick it up to save time on my lunch break. I always order the Tandoori chicken kebab. My new go-to lunch spot!!

I had the Barg Kabob and it was super delicious! The plate was super loaded and everything was done fresh. The meat was not tough and the rice was super yummy with spices. No table service however, that's not an issue if you're just in for some good fast food! The restaurant is also very clean and presentable. The person who took our order was very helpful (It was my first time there) and pleasant. I will be going back there!

Excellent food for the price. Only con is no table service and sometimes you may wait a while. But it is really worth the wait. I strongly recommend. You get massive amounts salad and the nan is just fabulous. Nothing like it actually.

Bamiyan is a great place to eat. Along with serving delicious food, the restaurant is well kept, clean, and the staff are very friendly. Although the service is great, sometimes the wait times exceed half an hour for a single person's meal. Despite the long wait times, I would recommend Bamiyan.
