It is nice place to visit. It is one of favourite spot. Their food and service is nice Recommended all to visit here nice experience.
Super food make my day. It is a great place to have dinner the music are wounderful
This was our first visit to Thai Basil and it won't be our last. We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. The food is Thai at its best, we've been to Thailand. Excellent service as well. We are already looking forward to our next meal.

Thai Basil is a very nice restaurant with a pretty decent lunch combo. Where some restaurants limit their lunch specials to weekdays, this restaurant offers their specials seven days a week.
Most of the combos are $9.95 and include "Tom Yum" Thai Hot and Spicy Soup and a Vegetarian Spring Roll. The soup was aromatic and full of flavour, with just enough heat to wake up your taste buds. Although the spring roll is listed as vegetarian, I could have sworn that it also had some minced pork. Nice and crispy on the outside, both crunchy and soft bites on the inside.
SWMBO opted for the Chicken Pad Thai. She thought that the dish could have been a little bit spicier, but otherwise thought if was a good dish.
I chose the Thai Basil Eggplant and Minced Pork. Nice touch with the steamed rice, formed into the shape of a five-pointed star. The eggplant was soft, as it should be, and the pork provided some balance to the texture.
Service was very good. A nice find in Richmond Hill.
Came in for lunch with the family and surprises to see they offer lunch combos on the weekend. Each combo came with Tom Yum soap and spring roll. The soap was quite tasty and flavourful but nothing special about the spring roll. I had the yellow curry chicken so the spice factor was manageable for me. I don't think I could handle the green or red curry. Portion was perfect for lunch but it could have poured more curry sauce as I like to soak my rice with it. Husband had the mussaman (not sure of spelling) and it was sorta bland. We had better tasting of this dish elsewhere.
When we came it was packed and after we were seated we thought, 'its busy and food will be slow'.
Not the case, there must be 10 people working in the kitchen because we all ordered something different and everything came at once and was well cooked!! The other table also ordered at the same time AND almost all the other tables were full!!
When you first walk in there's a great wall Stine thing fountain, dark wood with Thai touches classy casual
There's music playing its not very loud, to allow for conversation. Awesome. Note: they play music from all over the world not just Thailand.
With a full restaurant of talking people we could still all hear each other.
I loved my dish. I got the tofu with garlic and chilli. It was nice and spicy. Yum! Huge portions!
Everyone was nice. No one smiled though, it was weird
Cost wise itpretty reasonable for the amount of food you get.
All and all thumbs up. Will be back for sure!!
Great and consistent thai food. The taste is authentic and the portions are quite big. I like all the items other than the pad thai, which I feel is a bit dry. Great ambience.
Birthday at Thai. I loved this place. The ambiance the service and the food were wonderful. I would totally recommend it. The price was really good for the amount as well. We spent $153.96 for 8 people and we got drinks and desserts. I would really recommend the BBQ Pork and Mango salad as starters. We also ordered the Pineapple rice, great presentation and it was delicious, Basil chilli fried noodles (chef recommendation, was awesome), Green curry and steamed rice, and vermicelli noodles were amazing. The best part was the deep fried banana and mango ice cream at the end. Yummy!!
Beware very very Salty!!. Had the red duck curry with rice. At the time thought is was tasty even though I found there could have been a bit more duck. Anyways that evening I must of drank a gallon of water. Just could not get that salty parched taste out of my mouth. I might go back but will definitely request a reduction in the amount of salt they put into my meal otherwise I'll just have to walk out.
Great food & service. I was there yesterday for dinner. Food was amazing. We ordered tom yum goong soup, pomelo salad, Mussamun curry beef brisket, thai basil eggplant & minced pork, and Thai basil fried rice. Everything was delicious and I overheard next table's conversation and said their chicken was good, too. Our server (a young gentleman) was very attentive. He brought us extra napkins and always refilled our water without being asked. and he's very friendly. I would definitely go back again and again and again... :D
First visit at this location. Good food and service. Though the downtown location is better, this is a good option in the area. 80%
Good lunch. The lunch menu was very good. I ordered 3 items for 2 person. Taste great. Decor is nice.
Be back soon.
Outstanding favour, good value, curtious service. Highly recommend
Most dishes a bit heavy on salt and drowned in sauce when it shouldn't be (salads etc) - would have liked to try a few more dishes but just the 2 of us. Decent portions
Tom Yum Goong Lemongrass Prawn Soup - Flavour was good but Salty
Mango and Green Papaya shrimp - WAY too much salt. Wouldn't order again
Thai Red curry Duck . Nice amount of duck. Best dish of the night. you won't like it if you do not like basil. Not spicy.
Tung Choi in Shrimp paste. Very tasty --could have used fresher veggies as the stalks were a bit chewy but we still liked it.
there should be a choice in between like and dislike. will give another shot
Awesome. Great price for their lunch specials! 8dollars for a combo with soup and spring roll! Im Asian and i do have a pretty high standards for thai food and this place got The best green curry chicken I've had so far in GTA. Will definitely come back again with friends and family.
Too bad this app does not have "middle of the road", instea of "like it" or "don't like it". I gave this restaurant a thumbs up for effort and quick service. The was on par just slightly above average and the ambiance was nice and cool. Still, I found the taste over all lacking that extra feel that you are really eating genuine Thai food ie. Lime @ yng / egl. Perhaps in time, they can easily become one of the north ends best kept Thai secret. Good effort!
I was recommended by my Laotian friend to try out Thai Basil as he mentioned the dishes were authentic and that some of the dishes were comparable to what he ate in Thailand. I cannot comment on the authenticity of the dishes but know what I like. To my surprise, although the hostess and servers were Thai, the owners were Chinese.
I adored this pad thai! I appreciated how the peanuts were served in a small pile to the side of the noodles so that someone who didn’t like peanuts all over the noodles could easily remove it as necessary. The ingredients were fresh, the chicken pieces were smooth, and the thin rice noodles were very soft and drenched in sauce.
Everything was super delicious and authentic, they do pride themselves for having authentic food cooked by authentic Thai chefs (it says so on their sign). I would definitely recommend this place, the food was fabulous and the prices are off the charts and I would most certainly come back.
On our dinner outing there in particular, we had a fairly large group and ordered family-style, which gave me the opportunity sample a wide variety of items, and so I can say with confidence that the food is all quite fabulous there.

With their original location in downtown Toronto, we were happy that we were able to try the second location without making the trek downtown. The décor was nice, clean and had a zen-like feel with a waterfall Buddha statue at the front of the restaurant.
We ordered a variety of dishes and drinks to get a feel for their menu during the family celebration and would recommend the following (starting from top left in the picture):
Pomelo salad-This was the first time I have seen it at a Thai restaurant. It was simple and a great start to the meal.
Lettuce wrap salad- Great seasoning on the beef.
Thai BBQ pork
Thai roasted chicken-It was moist.
Thai red curry beef- Rich flavours and was perfect with rice.
Panang curry pork- Generous portions with a thick curry sauce.
Thai basil chili noodle
Baked fried rice in young coconut chicken- I loved the presentation!
Thai basil clams- Amazing dish with the right amount of spice and plump clams. A must!
What I did not enjoy was the pad thai with chicken. It had to be the worst pad Thai I have ever eaten as the noodles were ultra soggy and the sauce tasted like there was too much ketchup. This dish makes Spring Roll’s pad thai shine. My sister and I also complained about our alcoholic drinks as well as it tasted totally virgin and it was overly sweet.
Overall:
The restaurant is worth checking out with starters and curries as the stand out items. Although the pad thai portion was generous, I did not enjoy the texture or the sweet sauce. The restaurant does a great job with presentation and providing attentive service. I’d like to try the downtown location at Bloor and Spadina to see how the 2 restaurants compare. Happy eating!
Great place for Thai food. Service was good and the food was really yummy. Thai Shrimp cake was yummy. Thai Green Curry was spicy and got a beautiful flavour to it. We asked for pad Kee mao in glass noodles and they made it for us and it was tasty. Definitely will go to this place again.
I've been coming here for at least 8 years once in a while and it's one of my continuous go to Thai restaurants!
Came here for dinner as a table of 5 about two weeks ago, the portions were all decent size and great for sharing family style! We ordered:
Pomelo Salad
Green Mango Salad
Beef & Chicken Satay
BBQ Pork Jowel
Mussamun Curry Beef Brisket
Curry Soft Shelled Crab
Bangkok Style Pad Thai
Garlic Prawns
Young Coconut Fried Rice
Favourites were pomelo salad, pork jowel, Brisket Curry, pad Thai and coconut rice. The two curries we ordered were not spicy but actually sweet which was interesting to try! The coconut fried rice was baked in tin foil and infused with coconut flavour and a chewy rice texture - very unique and delicious!
Can't wait to come back next time!
There are lots of great Thai restaurants in the GTA and Thai Basil definitely is one of them. First, the service was great, friendly and efficient all the way, our orders came quick with zero delay.
The food was amazing, we ordered the "Khao soi" noodles and the "pad gra pao" and it was spot on to what we had back in Chang Mai but thankfully not as spicy.
If you enjoy Thai cuisine then you owe it to yourself to check the place out.
Super clean, tasty and well priced.
Amazing food that fits the Indian taste pallate so smoothly. Drinks were complementing the food choices and overall ambiance was awesome as well.
Nice ambience, food and good Customerservice. Food is tasty. Ice cream may not be something you may want from here. Surprisingly their spring rolls are different and better than other Thai/Chinese places.
Thai Basil has been a local staple for us for quite some time. It’s great to have such flavourful & authentic Thai food in our neighborhood. My hubby and I ended up here for his Birthday after not having dined at Thai Basil during the pandemic. We had the weekday lunch menu which is a good value for your money. It includes a spring roll, soup with the main course. Everything was perfectly spiced; an explosion of flavour in our mouths. Service was great- they were attentive, responsive and friendly. Definitely a must try!
This was the best thai food I’ve ever had! The red curry especially was amazing - will definitely be coming back. I also ordered the peach dragonfruit mocktail and it was delicious. Very good experience
We really enjoyed our meal at Thai Basil! We had the lunch special on a Sunday afternoon, and tired the Pad See Ew and Khao Soi. Both were delicious, and came in good portions. The meals also came with a soup and spring roll (both were yummy too). We also tried the mojito mocktail (lime and lychee), and although delicious, it was overpriced for a non-alcoholic drink ($7). We will definitely be coming back!
