Review Bodega Tapas Bar - Regina

chi mel
Thoroughly disappointed, took us calling the establishment for 3 days in a row just to make a reservation, which led us to assume that they were most likely busy as usual. Upon arrival the place was empty, and for a Friday night that was kind of worrying. Quickly realized why, the name is misleading, went there expecting the "La Bodega" experience and received the exact opposite. It's almost like the new management is trying to exist under the reputation of La Bodega but can't live up to the quality of food that was previously being offered. The server was friendly when we did get her attention, the food being served did not match the prices they are currently charging. Would not currently recommend this place to anyone.

The food seems to get worse every time I try to go back, which is disappointing considering that it used to be fantastic circa 2015. My partner commented that everything we ordered seemed like something we could find at safeway and microwave ourselves. The Cheez-Its on our cheeseboard really took the cake, though. Poor quality at a high price point - Definitely won't be trying it again.

OMG, forget the Bodega you know….. food are become overpriced and feel pitch in the plate. Still have x-max decoration on… ONE of the best place in Regina is gone.. and miss the old staff.

Great restaurant! Really good food, fair prices and very friendly staff! We really enjoyed everything, there’s a young and classy vibe!

Bodega carries over the charm and character of papa "La" Bodega. Good place to catch up with friends and enjoy wellmade cocktails and tasty dishes. They have the classics, but there. Some exotic options on the menue that tempt you to try. On busier nights it feels like they are understaffed and the service takes a hit but overall a great place to visit. I have recently visited Bodega for lunch and unfortunately the food and service was below the standards the have for their evenings. Consistency is a big part of being a good restaurant in my opinion.

The atmosphere was fantastic for a date night or a night out with the girls and the decor is very interesting. Definitely a great place to go.

It was chill and great music, great food, great booze! Its Boujie!! Like NYC little fancy pub. No TV of sports, which is great!

Had a rather underwhelming experience when I came to dine here with my cousin and her boyfriend. Our server was nice, but not very attentive. From what we saw she was the only person serving the entire restaurant on a Saturday evening. The three of us ordered individual items for ourselves that came out at drastically different times. The olives I ordered were not as the menu described which was kind of a bummer, I maybe had 3. Our server apologized for the wait for our food and explained that the kitchen was overwhelmed. They hadn’t even started the pizza my cousin ordered at the beginning of our meal. It’s unfortunate that we had this experience but I’m hopeful they can turn things around with more staff, more training, a fine comb through their menu, and some drastic renovations.

Once again had excellent service and meal. Our server Jade was attentive, polite and had excellent recommendations. All of the staff are excellent and the food is always outstanding. Thanks Bodega team

Our service is, my opinion the best I've had in Regina in a long time. Food was delicious. The ambiance is fresh and comfortable. I highly recommend. Thank you for making my birthday special. We will be back.

Whenever im in Regina I would stop by and eat there and it has not disappoint me yet. Staff is always friendly and food is always tasty. My last server, John was attentive and knowledgeable which made the experience great.

This used to be my favorite place to eat in Regina. The new menu is much smaller than the old and all my favorite dishes have been removed (ceviche, beef tartare, lamb, mussels). FYI this is not a Spanish tapas place anymore (there are no tapas on the menu at all anymore). Very disappointing change in direction.

I chose to have the first part of my birthday get-together at Bodega this past Saturday. I was able to connect with them in advance and reserve a table for my group. They were very attentive and I was very pleased overall. They even had no problem with me bringing in cupcakes. It is a classy place, so I'm not going to complain about prices or serving sizes. I like the feeling there, and am happy that they reopened under new management and renovated. Working nearby, it's also really great having another lunch spot. They have plenty of options and the prices are competitive.

Was disappointed to see foie gras on the menu - won't be returning until this item removed. Too bad because I love the patio!

Great menu and drinks !!! This is my favourite place to go to in Regina !!!

Portions were tiny, and food tasted horrible. Steak tartar was extremely tough, fatty and tasteless. The votive candle on the table was bigger than the serving of panna cotta, which tasted like bland gelatin. Not to mention service was terrible and it wasn't busy. I used to love this place as La Bodega but will not be returning again nor will anyone I attended with. My husband went with a different group two days later and again consensus was the meals were terrible.

Was at bodega recently, great ambiance...the staff has done an amazing job. Thanks Tony

Last night we went to La Bodega to celebrate our daughters birthday. Our server was excellent! Our food was fantastic! All six of us enjoyed our dinners!!!! Everything was so delicious!Bravo!!!

MY FAVOURITE PLACE!!! Try the spinach croquettes. The sliced ham is amazing and the sangria is TOP!!! MY favourite place in maastricht and it has a great vibe.

Fabulous food, staff and environment. Will be back again!

Usually a great place, Tony is great but tonight not good service at all and 4$ for a tiny gravy!!! Not impressed and will not be back for a while for sure. Usually quality service but the waitress was not up to par!

Food was excellent! Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about his drinks. 😁

2017-03-04 Dinner: I remember this place being much better, but it has been 3 years since the last time I was here. Our server wasn't pleasant, but she transported drinks and food just fine. I do like the layout of this place as it can provide private accommodations for groups as was our case. The food was overpriced for what it was, the presentation was bland and so was overall taste. And that opinion was shared by our whole group. Lobster Poutine is not as good as you would want it to be or at all; Fish and Chips has zero flavour; Oysters are oysters, just make sure to ask for tabasco as the sauce it comes with sucks; Calamari is bland; Mac and Cheese is boring; Paella was OK, it would be a "Safe Choice". I will be back most likely for some future event, but I hope it isn't for another 3 years.

Atmosphere is cute and unique. Service was adequate. Gin and tonic was good and only $5. Complimentary spicy fried corn was delightful. My partner had the antipasto plate, which he enjoyed and I had the duck and smoked Gouda nachos, which I enjoyed thoroughly.
Rob
Gross. May as well eat what the dog barfed up. Waitress was rude and arrogant. We will never be back that's for sure. The food was all cold, the "pizza" was made with velveeta or something similarily disgusting. The waitress made us walk up and down the stairs several times before she made up her mind about where we could sit. How is this place in business?
My wife and I recently moved to Regina from Winnipeg. Tapas is one of our favourite ways to dine. We absolutely love sharing small plates. We were excited to try La Bodega. Unfortunately the menu is traditional not Tapas. My wife ended up ordering the surf and turf. She said it was, "fine but mainly underwhelming". I had the Paella special. It was really bad. The waitress claimed that it contained chorizo. The sausage was farmer's. It just didn't work. Needless to say, we wont be back.
Lucy Quach
Hit and Miss. They have a nice wine selection. The service is hit and miss, usually favouring the "miss" side. When it comes to the food, there are some really good items (brie plank or falafel platter) and some rather disappointing items (the prawns come to mind).
Gerbo
Wow. Just excellent. Great value. Will be back again every time I'm in Regina.

Why such bad service?. I went with a couple friends for an early dinner, excited because the last time I went to La Bodega the food was excellent, as was the service. This time, not so much. Our server came to see if we were ready to order, but we needed a few minutes. He had not offered any drinks yet, pointed out any features, or even seemed remotely enthused to be serving us. He came back shortly to take our order, (very unenthusiastically, and quite unhelpful when I asked about two items), and still did not ask us if we wanted anything to drink, so as he was about to leave I asked for a round of waters with a side of lemons. He brought the waters, no lemon. When our food arrived, we realized that we had no cutlery, so he had to get some for us. He did not check back to make sure everything was ok. At the end of the meal, we were not offered any deserts, and throughout the entire process start to finish we were never offered anything other than water to drink, such as wine or coffee. When all three of us finished our waters at differing times through the meal, they were not refilled. The server himself did not even bring us the bills, it was a lovely woman who gave us our FIRST SMILE of the experience. She later came to take our payments quite a while later, apologizing for how long we had to wait. Our server never came back to make sure everything was okay, or to thank us for coming/say goodbye. The meal itself was fine- the presentation was lovely, and the food was quite yummy. But the terrible service really brought down the experience, especially watching our server talk enthusiastically with a couple other tables, then completely ignore us.

As a server myself, I normally tip no less than 25%, but his indifferent attitude and lack of service pissed me off enough to lower that to 10%. There is no excuse for such a bad experience, specifically because we were early enough to be one of only two tables in his section. I can only assume that he discounted us from the get-go because we are clearly young females, and that is a category that stereotypically tips poorly. Maybe he was having a crappy night, or was tired, I don't know. All I know is that was the worst service I've had in a long time.

Rude. Pretentious. Even stupid.... Stand-offish 'service' and dirty looks from the staff who act like you're putting them out. I tried to redeem a $50.00 gift card (given to me by a friend who is a REGINA POLICE OFFICER.) There was a change of server from a woman to a man. He was very short with me and acted like he was under special orders. MY GIFT CARD WAS REFUSED. Since when does money expire? Across the room the bar tender was showing the card to the servers and repeating, "illegal" over and over. No reason was ever given. He wanted me to pay for my outlandishly expensive lunch. I rolled my eyes and rightfully walked out on the bill. La Bodega has a very serious attitude problem top to bottom. Don't visit this place unless you are in the mood for snottiness, abuse, rudeness and ill-treatment.

Place to go for an intimate atmosphere and good food. First thing you'll notice when you visit this place is the lack of space it provides, but at the same time, the small space, creates an intimate atmosphere that is enjoyable for great company, conversation and good food. La Bodega's signature items are a hit. If you've never been here before, try any of the signature items first and venture off from there. Service is often good as well.

Food like everything else soso. I had fish and chips here. heard its the best fish and chips in town. I liked it, and my picky sister said "no muddy smell nor taste" that she always catches from other restaurants' fish menu. the price was bit high for brunch menu, but the portion can cover that up.
the server was okay but she looked really tired and not showing up that much. As an asian, I like that part more though. love to try other stuff in future.

Decent. The food in this place is awful. I ate a salad once and they managed to ruin it! The only reason why I go to La bodega is to taste the wine.

Unacceptable conditions for booking a group reservation. My fiance and I moved to Regina in August last year and La Bodega has been recommended to us by many people since. I recently started at a new job and was asked to make a reservation at LB for an on-boarding celebration dinner Friday evening. Much to my disappointment, not only was I informed that a credit card would be required to make the reservation, I was also informed that if the group (ten of us) did not "show up" without cancelling within a certain time frame, the card on file would be charged $100. Furthermore, in order to secure the reservation, I had to confirm that each individual at our table would commit to spending up to $20 each.

Now, while it is extremely likely that each person attending the dinner will probably spend that much, given that a main dish and one drink are likely enough on their own to get you to that price range quite easily, I don't necessarily fancy having to shoot an e-mail out to everyone attending a 'Welcome Aboard' dinner for myself with a footnote saying, "OH, by the way, you are obligated to both attend AND spend a minimum of twenty dollars". That doesn't sit well with me.

This experience has been extremely disappointing, as I have been looking forward to trying this place out since I arrived in Regina. Unfortunately, this credit-card-to-book policy (which, incidentally, I have never encountered at any other restaurant) has left an awful taste in my mouth, and I am unlikely to ever bring my service to La Bodega.

Yep. Eaten here three times now. Always superb food. Wouldn't mind seeing more Canadian beer on the menu, but headlining with Sask spirits is pretty cool. My wife always has the steak fries and it's so good it haunts her dreams. I jump around the tapas menu a little, but I'm always impressed. If you're in town try it. If you live here, why haven't you tried it?!?

Amazing food, 1/2 wine, and atmosphere. Only down fall is the placement of the bathrooms upstairs. If someone does a 2 and you are sitting close to the doors. You know it.

Gem of Regina. La bodega has always been a favorite spot of mine in the city. The atmosphere is cozy and the decor is always new and interesting to look at, with new art pieces added all the time. The menu has recently been updated and new delicious items have been added. I love the amount of Vegan and Vegetarian options they have. In the past year or so La Bodega added half price wine every night to their menu, which is another great factor to every visit! Is it patio season yet???

I called for a reservation for Friday for 10 people. Instead if saying it was just too booked, the server that answered told me we could reserve earlier.

However,we had to be out of the restaurant by 6:00, almost as if to say 'you can dine here, but only on our terms and if you get out when we say'. Then came the credit card cancellation fee and minim per person charge.

Right from the outset she was somewhat rude and made me feel as though I was putting her out.

People answering the phone could be a lot friendlier and remember that those pesky customers pay the bills.

La Bodega is one of my favourite Regina spots, but not if I am treated 2nd class and talked down to.

I don't get the fascination with this place.. Parking is a challenge, service was extremely slow and food is mediocre at best.

We started with crab cakes and spring rolls. Crab cakes were overcooked and dry while the spring rolls were just dry.

I had the bison burger which actually was seasoned nicely but again I found it somewhat dry and that patti was one of the smallest I've had.

My wife had the Tapas platter and in her words it was just okay.

We haven't been there for a couple of years and it'll probably be another couple of years before we give it another try.

Thanks so much, Had an awesome time and great meal last weekend!. By far my favourite place to eat and hangout at. Thanks again!

Also the review by the user "snobeil" sounds ridiculous. I seriously doubt anybody yelled at you and IF they did you were probably being obnoxious and rude and deserved to be put your in place. The sad thing is I have witnessed pretentious people come here and act like jerks.

warmly,
Dr.cheesehead

Disappointment. Originally, my post detailed the events of my last visit to La Bodega. Since it was the worst restaurant experience of my life, I also wrote a letter to the general manager with the hope that I would receive a sincere apology. That did not happen, but their response did include a threat to 'rebuttal' if I did not remove my post. As I am not interested in starting a war, I was only using this site for it's intended purpose, I will honour their request. Clearly, I recommend against this establishment. Unless of course you enjoy being yelled at in public.

Hooray for half priced wine!. Great wine/liquor menu, really nice ambiance for a couple drinks with friends, food is hit and miss- have tried about half the menu to this point, and can't really say anything too definitively either way. though it does seem a little pricey. staff is lively and interesting, what you would expect for this type of establishment.

Let me start off by saying I normally like la bodegas food which is why we decided to go to their NYE tasting . It was $45 a person which included a 10 course meal. It came out in courses of 3 with dessert by itself. First was a Lobster Bisque which was cold, thin and fishy the whole table couldn't even eat it. Truffle Caesar salad had a very taste with no garlic and a break your teeth crouton. Goat cheese on naan bread was the edible thing on that plate.
Lobster Cake was okay it had potato as filler though. Tuna Tartare was not bad either the sauce was pleasant. The oyster Rockefeller was raw with bread crumbs on top and a lemon dessert tasting topping. It was hard to swollow. Next was the main courses which was three meats chicken cordon bleu which was pretty good wasn't dry and had allot of flavour. Pistachio crusted lamb not sure if they forgot the pistachio but I don't think that was crusted with anything. I haven't eaten very much lamb but it didn't have any flavour and was raw. NY strip with brandy sauce was good it was steak and cooked med raw. All and all that course was just hunks of meat all on the same plate with the sauces all running together. Next dessert chocolate mousse which came in a throw away plastic wine glass. It was prettying glorified chocolate pudding with whipped cream and strawberries on top. All and all the meal had its good parts and bad parts. If I was the chef there I would be embarrassed at that meal everything was prepared ahead of time and just thrown on a plate. It was like they just wanted everyone in and out as fast as possible. Courses to me are suppose to be just that individual courses not three things thrown on a plate. The best part of the night was the half priced wine. We left hungry and felt we overpayed for what we receiced. It will be a long time before I ever go to eat there again.

Great vibe, good food. This is a restaurant I have been going to for years, most commonly for a night out with girlfriends or the Sunday brunch. It's also a cool place to go on a date and it is always packed and lively on Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant has a modern atmosphere and features a three level deck, and it is lovely to sit outside on the third level "tree-house" in the summer time.

The menu is lengthy and a bit overwhelming, but my favourite supper selections are the lamb enchiladas, corona prawns, basil cream mussels, and lobster poutine (but you have to ask them to take it easy on the velouté sauce). If you're in the mood to splurg a little, the seafood plank for two is shockingly good (given seafood in Saskatchewan...) and one of the best things I have ever ordered at a restaurant anywhere. The martini menu is endless and my all-time favourite is the La Pampa, but I'm a lychee nut fanatic. The best brunch dishes, in my opinion, are the huevos rancheros (very filling and delicious if you like Mexican), the chorizo burrito, and the eggs benedict with goat cheese and spinach. Dishes I recommend to stay away from are the crab cakes (AWFUL) and the buffalo spring rolls (dry and unsavory). In fact, I have tried the crab cakes twice (in two separate dishes) and they were equally terrible both times. All in all, though, the food and service are good and it is one of the city's hippest spots in terms of character and an innovative menu.

Meh. Overall I see alot of people saying this is good prices, not sure how I feel about that. A typical good sized meal here is about as expensive as any high , HIGH priced restaurant in town. If you are wanting to spend 25-30 before drinks then yes they have good food here, appetizers typically range 8-15 for 1 so they can get the price up too. As for service, thats the downside, food takes forever, and are not very polite to boot. My last time there before going back to have this kind of service was about a year ago, its good to see nothing has changed, this will be the very last time I even go through the doors.
Foodie101
First time there. Horrible service. Sure food came out fast, however it tasted like nothing. The quesadilla had no flavor. I was not impressed when I told the waiter about the food and it's bland flavor since all he did was say "oh that's no good" and did not remove the item from my bill. I did not even have a manager come speak to me. The food lacks flavor and I will not be back.
Jason
Just Awful.... This place is a toilet...and not even a clean one.
The food is sub par but grossly over priced.

The service is brutal - how dare you get a drink and a menu within your first 20 minutes of your visit!

All in all - this is a hipster joint for artists and foodies that have embraced the awkward and the strange.

Will never go back.
MrsL
Beautiful decor and delicious lunch menu!
I_REEK_OF_CURRY
Hit and miss!. Well, more hit than a miss. I've been there 5 time - three times the food has been hit. There appetizers taste better than entrees. Service could be better - Most of them are nice but some are very rude.

Returned with a visiting friend for the tasting menu.. We ate there on the weekend, found out about the tasting menu on Monday and headed right back. Pleasantly pleased both times.

We went on a recommendation and was really disappointed! Our appetizer was disgusting and was served with nacho chips and NOT crostini. I have never seen cheddar cheese on a margarita pizza before!!!! My boyfriend had all meat poutine........might have been better if the fries weren't RAW!
When I told our many servers, they didn't seem to care. And when I went to pay, and voiced my concerns, she made NO effort to deduct anything from our bill!!! They will never see our $$$ again!!
Kate
Misleading menu. I recently gathered at La Bodega with a few girlfriends for drinks. We decided to get some appetizers, and as my one friend must eat only gluten free, we were pleased to see that there were a number of options listed on the menu that did not contain gluten. Just to be safe, my friend asked our server if the item she was ordering was indeed gluten free. The server assured us it was. When the food arrived, my friend asked the server to double check that the tortilla chips were safe for a gluten-free eater (not deep-fried in the same oil as products containing gluten). The server, while visibly irritated by the request, did check with the kitchen staff and came back to admit that the chips were indeed cooked in gluten-contaminated oil. Although she could not eat the appetizer, the food was still charged. Be warned...the are quite a few items on the menu that claim to be gluten free, but the fries and tortilla chips, etc, are not actually safe for people who cannot eat gluten. Not a good practice for a restaurant!!!!

Used to love this place. Went from a great tapas place to serving large plates...which is to be expected considering it's Regina. But it has gone downhill majorly!! The ceviche is cooked, the lobster poutine was so salty it made me want to throw up...and I love salt. Disappointing!
JME
I've been here many times and loved the food and prices in the beginning though some waitresses seemed pretty snooty. Now I've noticed prices have gone up a bit though food is still great - and waitresses are still snobs
Hungry Girl
Went there for the first time today for brunch and was really impressed with the food and service! Definitely will be going back!

What a find! So much goes into the food! From freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made guacamole and salsa, dill in the sour cream! Cool atmosphere that us Great for a date and so happy that we can also bring our daughter in as I thought this was just a lounge! Very cool place! The food was AMAZING!! The tenderloin was melting in our mouths and the lamb enchiladas were superb! This was the lunch menu can't wait to try the supper menu! Might even go back for supper! Hats off I highly recommend! Our meal of two mimosas steak sand and lamb enchiladas came to $51 and we had no issues paying it. Hats off to La Bodega!!!
Jacyntha Laviolette
Pretty decent. Good choice for an evening out with your partner. Still a little in the pricey side. I remember way back when they first opened the bread basket was around $4/$5. Great vegetarian soups - servers are happy to double check with the chefs about whether or not the broth is vegetarian. Good wine and martini choices.
Jen
Service was prompt she was polite and told us all te specials before ordering, my fish was fresh and delis and huge serving, the veg enchiladas were filling and exploding with flavor def one of my fav places to come!!!
Kellygiz
A tad pricy, but so worth it. Go on Mondays for the 9 course chef sampler. Great food, cool atmosphere
Mary
Sopisticated and Unique. This is really a great place to go. It's can get rather cramped, but it still works well. It's a fun place to go with a group of friends.
Liz
A food adventure. We went there for a family birthday. I had absolutely no idea what the food was like. Actually, most of us had no idea! We just ordered things off the menu and shared them around. My younger son said that we should all have ordered the lamb because he really liked that. I forget how many things we ordered but we couldn't finish it all.

We all really enjoyed it. I would do it again any time. None of us had any complaints about the food or the service.

My husband and I went back this summer and we still loved it. We ordered four dishes at first but we were full and didn't need any more. I will definitely go back.
Chad Sexington IV
Went there a couple of weeks ago and was really unimpressed with the food. Service was friendly but the food was subpar not because it was my type of food but because it was cold and over spiced and sauced. Good place for a late drink but if you're going for supper with high hopes of high quality food then go elsewhere.
Kitcho
Mostly good but expensive. Used to be one of my favourite restaurants. It was always a little expensive, which is fine, but these days it's ridiculous. I had a sunday brunch item -- fish & chips -- consisting of two small pieces of deep-fried cod and a bed of fries for $15. I get that food prices have increased over the last few years and that has to some extent be passed along to customers, but many dishes are just a terrible value. I still go back for drinks on their upper patio though as it's fantastic on a hot summer night. The Ice bar they build in the winter is also pretty cool if you've never seen it before.
Carline
Hands down the best brunch in Regina. Lovely service always! Definitely a little more expensive but the price is worth it.
Joanne Campbell
Food was great! I'm definitely coming back for seconds :)
Wealthy Lawyer
Awful. Service to the food, even the drinks, overpriced, poorly presented, nothing good to say about this restaurant. Don't even bother.....
Food Blogger
Worst service and food ever. Was going with a few lawyer friends of mine, been there before and found the food to be overpriced and cold but we thought, one more time. We had to sit in the lounge because they didn't want a server in the restaurant (was 10 pm). No worries, the server was rude and bordering on abusive, never in my 20 years of going to restaurants have I encountered such rudeness. The food er got was underportioned and the lobster was stale. Never going back ever!

I come to La Bodega every weekend for brunch. Without a doubt, La Bodega is one of Regina's best. The food is delicious, service is great and the management is friendly, efficient and quick to take accountability if any situation does arise. Fantastic place to take your "out of towners" and to make a regular hotspot.
Foodstud306
Meh.... Neat place. Appies were over-priced. The lobster guac was gross. Would go back for a beer, no food.
Cellis
Unimpressive. We were led to believe through reviews that La Bodega was a trendy place offering unique cuisine and great service. However, nothing could be further from the truth. La Bodega's uninspired food offerings were only matched by inattentive service. We poured our own wine, our water glasses remained empty throughout the meal, and the capaccio in our appetizer was partially frozen (in fact, the rest of our 5 Tapas appetizer had the distinct taste and texture of being hastily nabbed from the back of a crowded refrigerator). My Chili Salmon fillet was shrunken, over-cooked, and dry. These food complaints would have been mentioned to the staff, if our waitress had bothered to ask how our meals were.

On the plus side, the asparagus was fantastic, and the beef tenderloin supple (although the slab of blue cheese butter was rather thick, and thus did not melt as it should have).
Miguelito
This place should be called La Basura. Poor quality food, poor service and overpriced. Don't waist your money.

$80, if ppl are curious.

-----07 Apr, 2012-----

Anyone wondering about price this is .79.95

What can I say I like the place for lunch or a meal in the evening. The food is inventive and it has a good vibe. My only complaint is their paella which in my mind, isn't up to snuff. The menu should say , "our take on the famous Spanish dish"
Dick Dragon
Just okay. I can't give either a thumbs up or thumbs down on this place. My wife and I decided to try this place after hearing all the hype. Atmophere is pretty cool, service was good, and the food.....well it was just okay but waaay overpriced. There are so many other neat places to try in Regina, so this experience at La Bodega is likely my first and last.
IrishMike
Great atmosphere and even better food. Felt like I was back in Europe. Highly recommend La Bodega!
Queenofdrama52
Doesn't live up to the hype. Overpriced and overcrowded, this restaurant doesn't come close to matching the superlatives some people throw around. Our service - split between 2 servers for some reason - was irregular and unsatisfactory. And I seriously could just listen in to the conversations of other diners without any effort whatsoever. The food was fair but not worth what is currently being charged. The only way I will return is to use the 'treehouse' outdoor room - my niece likes that very much.
Jay
Terrible service here. Food is ok. Drink is great but I won't come back.
Jay
Terrible food, terrible terrible service!!! The food didn't taste fresh and their service... OMG! Very rude waitress and irresponsible at all! We've been waiting for a table we were promised for for the longest time and the waitress end up giving it to some other people and ignored us completely!!! Will never go back again.

Tis Good, but chewy lobster....??. It was out for a special occasion and ordered the seafood for two. Vast majority of it was delicious, best seafood on the prairies and I would have nothing bad to say about it except for the lobster. Now I don't buy lobster every day, in fact my critic may be founded on nothing, because I don't know any better, but the lobster was VERY tough, I mean really really chewy. I always pictured lobster as that melt in your mouth with butter thing but no at La Bodega it is so chewy and uninspired. Service was great the waiter was amazing, the drinks were amazing the atmosphere was perfect and the ice bar was neat. (I know I should have probably said something about the lobster to the server and I am sure he would have done something but i didn't know if that was how it was supposed to be, i didn't want to seem like an idiot)

Unique Atmosphere, Appetizers & Ice Bar in the Winter. This is a review based on past experience. Last time I was there was 6 months ago. I've been there 3 times total.

I only order the appetizers, whenever I go there, I haven't ventured beyond appetizers, due to the high prices. I usually order the Steak Tartare. No complaints on food quality or presentation, the food is unique and delicious.

Service is great. In the winter times, there is an entire bar located outside, and it's made entirely out of ice. In the summer times, you can sit out on the patio area.

Nice atmosphere, it's unique because it's in an house! Although it sometimes feels a little cramped, when it is at full capacity.

Went with a group, and it was great. Sat inside the main eating area on the main floor of the restaurant, in the living room. It appeared cramped for the walking area, but the seating area was roomy.

Overall, good for a relaxing evening with friends.

One of Regina's best restaurants. If they got a better air filtration system it would be the best but the smell of oil is a negative

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Friday. Were greeted coldly and informed after we sat down about the limited menu choices and accompaniements because of maintenance work being done to the deep fryer. Food was tasty and the cheesecake was delicious. Server could have been friendlier and service could have been better considering the restaraunt was empty.

Hit or miss. There are a few great servers here, and others who are just terrible!! Food is consistently good, but service is what really matters! With so many options in Regina, I don't want to play roulette with my dining experience. Will not be going back

Good stuff. The foie gras was perfect and the steak is just the way i like it. Very diverse in meal choices and beverages. Best restaurant in regina. But the only thing i hate is the parking. Not enough space and the sidewalk next to it gets filled up right away.

THINGS HAVE CHANGED. We have been going to La Bodega for years, but had the worst experience ever last night. Our server was very unfriendly, she brought out our entrees after we had only had a few bites of our appetizer. I had to ask for another drink as none was offered. After dinner which felt very rushed we declined dessert and 1 minute later she dropped the bill at the table. We were in and out in under 45 minutes. The menu is missing some very key things, such as their mushroom strudel and they were very cheap with the amount of sauce for the steak frites. We left and went to The Keg where we finished our evening with some wonderful dessert and drinks and had excellent service despite the full restaurant.

Great Bar. Had a great evening at the bar, experienced very good service and enjoyed the Tapas Plate and the overall experience.

Would definitely return

Meh.. I went to the La Bodega a few years back and thought it was pretty good. Their enchalada veganised was amazing. I went again recently and left very unsatisfied. The waiter was just lukewarm. It felt a bit like we were displeasureing him by being there. Their menu has changed and the enchalada is now non-existant. On the back it now says "NO SUBSTITUTIONS" and as a vegan, that always makes me kind of sad. You cannot order any side order by itself, and all I was really able to get was pretty much a $16 order of chips and salsa. My partner had a falafel and it was definitely not worth the cost.
Not happy, won't be going back.

Lunch is better than dinner. The lunch menu is smaller, but is better than the dinner menu, and is about half the price! The chorizo on the pizza tasted like chemicals and not like meat. Told the waitress, and she suggested I just pick the chorizo off and take the rest of the disgusting pizza home. The white wine sangria is amazing. However, sometimes they run out of fruit to put in it...

Terrible. Recently had a birthday 57 was excited about going out for diiner. I have eaten here before and loved the vibe and atmosphere of this restaurant Boy was I wrong. I got a table in the smoking level while my bf parked the car. The waitress came out and I ordered a 1/2 litre of wine she asked what kind I told her it didn't matter I had some wine at home (one glass) so it didn't matter just excited to be out for my birthday. We sat there very staring into each others eyes very romantic.
My partner ordered the mussels at about $16.00, very salty and 8 never opened which means they are toxic. Oh well finally ready to order supper and more wine and was told that we were cut off. I was shocked. I was told that the waitress mentioned that we had drinks at home (one glass) and felt we had enough. I called for the manager humiliated and embarresed, this in my 57 years. I could have cried on my birthday . The manager finally came and more or less said well I guess your okay you can have a glass of wine. WHAT......we were fine in fact a different waitress came to apolize and wanted to buy me dessert and she would personally pay for it The waitress felt so bad unlike the arrogant manager. I kindly refused her offer and went to The Cathedral Village. We had a great dinner (half the price) and birthday cake with Candle. Thank you Cathedral for saving my birthday. I will never step into LaBodego's again.

Awesome; reccommend for a special occasion. LaBodega has been one of my favourite places to eat and drink for years. The food is always delicious and on Sundays, the brunch is something worth getting out for! The prices have gone up alot recently, but that's how it goes I guess; just means we go there not as often. Reccommend the escargot, smoked salmon baguetts and Crazy martini!!! haha

My Favorite in Town. I love this restaurant . The foods always good , they serve vegetarian and I have.never had a bad meal. The out door patio is second to none I have been to in the city . Service is excellent . I love to take visitors from out of town to La Bodege to show them the interesting and good restaurants we have in Regina !

Good food but noisy. Best steak and frites in the city!! Food is good and you get pretty decent portions for the price. The one downfall is it is cramped and noisy.

Over priced and pretentious. Pretentious and over priced. The first time and only time I've been to La Bodega I was so excited to go. Everyone told me how great it was and I love tapas. I was however dissapointed with the service. The waitress who served us was a complete snob. She ignored us completely and the only time we got served we had to waive her or her co-workers down and when we did get thier attention we were treated as a burden. I even had to go to the bar to get a drink a couple times.
The drinks and the food only slightly made up for the service. Everything we ate and drank were delicious... especially the marinated feta and cotton candy martini. But I havent been back because I dont like to pay someone to treat me like crap.

My Birthday Lunch. I was asked by my family and friends where they could take me out for lunch for my birthday. I told them I wanted to go to La Bodega. I was the first one there and I asked for a booth that I saw available as soon as I walked in. The hostess said there was another booth just like that available around the corner....yes, there was, but the next 4 person table was inches away from our booth....it was like sitting with them. I asked to be moved to the booth that I had seen earlier and she grudgingly, she moved me. The service from our waitress was great! We couldn't however, enjoy our meal and conversation as there was work being done in the kitchen....drilling, sanding....now sure...but very loud! We did mention it to the waitress...she did close the doors, but it didn't help. That kind of work should be done after hours when there are no guests around. I felt that they did not respect us enough to give us the courtesy of having a luncheon with the sound of construction. Very disappointed.

Brunch with a Crunch. I'm an international traveler. I know great service and food when I experience it. It's been nearly a week since my husband and I had brunch at La Bodega, and we did not experience great food nor great service. As we entered the door there was barely room for us to turn around while we waited for the hostess to seat us. She lead us to a table for two by the back door (which blew in a artic breeze every time someone entered or exited the building). Our table was one of two that was placed across from two other tables which sat 4+. There was barely room for a slim person to pass, let alone the wait staff with an arm full of plates. These too tables should never have been placed there as I am sure in addtion to the cramped position, are a fire hazzard as well. When our food arrived (I got the scrambled eggs) my eggs and hashbrowns were ice cold. My husbands were warm, but he could not eat his hot dish because he didn't have any utensils. The manager, Scott, passed by our table numerous times, never once acknowledging our presence. This is because he was too busy smoozing the people at the table across from us (who we found out later were the owners of La Bodega). The best and most attentive part of our meal came from a young lady named, Caley. She was wonderfully kind, attentative, and polite refilling our coffee to keep us as warm as possible next to the "freezer" door. This young woman knows good customer service and should be the General Manager, not Scott... the Brown-noser! So, if you want to be crunched like a sardine, receive your food cold, and be ignored because "others" are more important by all means spend too much on brunch with a crunch!

Cozy atmosphere and food. I try to get here every time i visit regina. My favorite is still the marinated feta. The 3 story house that they have converted into a great place for tapas and wine is relaxing. Check out the ICE bar in the winters too and the tree house patio. Pretty cool.

Great Food. I would have to say La Bodega is one of our favorite places to dine at. My favorites would have to be the Chicken Pecan Salad, and the Mini Lamb Rack. Every time I have been the service has been great along with the food.

Good, but salty. I've come to La Bodega several times and never have I had a bad experience. Service is generally prompt and friendly. Their seafood grill for two is quite good, although they increased the price from $60 to $70. Their tapas are good, although I find that they are a bit salty. This is not a place I would dine if I was feeling very hungry, because the saltiness in the dishes really builds up after a while. Try their lavapot dessert though, it's to die for.

Great service. Friendly and welcoming environment. Delicious food. La bodega is a great spot for a romantic night out, or casual drinks and tapas. One of my favorite Regina restaurants.

One of the places I miss. Moved away from Regina last March and La Bodega is one of the few places I truly miss. Awesome place to have a late night drink and snack. Also a pretty damn good place for dinner.

La Bodega always seems to add a new twist like the ice bar and movies on the deck. There are many creative and delicious things on this menu but for lunch I always go back to the steak sandwich. It's perfect.

Excellent appetizers. I've only been there for appetizers, and they were amazing! The atmosphere is very cozy (it's a converted old house) with lots of little separate rooms. Plus, they do this incredible out door ice bar in the winter.

La Bodega Tapas Bar and Grill in Regina has been a favourite of mine in the Cathedral neighbourhood for over 10 years. Part of that reason is that I lived right across the alley for about eight of those years, and became a semi-regular, popping in for a glass of malbec and steak frites or mushroom strudel at least once a month. The place was always busy and always humming. Since Dave and I moved to the Lakeview area, I haven’t been there as often. I missed my old hang out and we decided to head back for a Friday night meal. I expected it to be completely packed after work when we arrived at about 5:30 p.m. To my surprise, it was lightly busy with lots of tables to choose from in the dining room and the bar. It had been about three months since I had last been to La Bodega, and I immediately noticed the menu had changed again… for the better. I recall not really being that excited by the menu on my last visit, and found some old favourites were gone. This time around, I was excited by t

La Bodega was a pretty long walk from the Wingate where we were all staying. A 15-20 minute walk may as well have been an hour considering it was -30 that night. One of our pals soon learned to regret just walking out in a sweatshirt. No wonder my frozen friend ordered a hot soup! I rarely eat escargot, and it's not because I don't like it. It's just that it's not readily available and most places I frequent don't serve it. I'm glad someone ordered it though because the sauce alone would have been worth it. Foie Gras was delicious.....but there was so little of it! The tiny little sliver of foie seemed even smaller on the huge plank of wood it came on. It tasted like heaven, but I just wished there was more of it! I don't know what I was thinking, but I ordered nachos. The bare chips came with some salsa, some guacamole, and some sour cream. Really plane-jane. .The walk back was a nightmare, the wind had picked up and it felt even colder. As you can tell from this picture, I was misera
