Review Da India Curry House - Regina

Paula Huynh
The food that comes from the kitchen here is absolutely amazing!! I visit regularly and always get the best service. There are also many options for vegans, vegetarians, and those who have gluten sensitivities. There are many other good Indian restaurants in Regina, but there is a reason why Da India Curry House continually gets voted to the top every year. Kapil is very passionate about his culinary work and it shows! Thank you for being such a wonderful establishment in Regina!

I’m from Toronto and was visiting a friend in Regina. Being from a big diverse city like Toronto, I can honestly say that the Indian food here taste so much better! I was shocked by how fresh the ingredients tasted and also the delicate balance in flavours for each dish (not too oily or overpowering). And the portion sizes were decent! As a bonus we got to meet the owner and saw how passionate, humble and down to earth he was.. Great guy! Overall incredible experience! Highly recommend!

Chicken tikka masala was ok, not the worst but not the best neither. The kitchen should let the chicken marinate a little longer as it tasted quite insipid. Garlic naans were good.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in.The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Excellent food. Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining. I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal in.I had a 3 course meal, with a couple of beers. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who want a romantic night out. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in

To my surprise, I found this place as one of the best Indian restaurants in Regina. It was our first time there and we found the place really nice. They welcomed us with a smile and their hospitality was wonderful. The gentleman who took our order seemed like the owner and suggested some really good items from the menu. The pictures posted are snowflake Tikka and fish fry. The quantity was worth the price and so was the delicious food. We will surely visit the place again!

Da India Curry House is honestly the best India Restaurant in Regina. I can’t say enough about how amazing the food, service and quality is. The owner or manager truest cares about their customers as whenever we order we always feel like family even though we are just a customer. Give them a try and I promise you will easily understand why this is our favourite India Restaurant in Regina. Don’t even consider that other Indian restaurant that starts with a “C” and the s named after a seed. Once we left that place to try Da India Curry House we have never went back to that other one. 10 out of 10 and I promise that you will be echoing my comments if you give them a try.

We order from here regularly for my mom. She loves it and it is great that they remember us. Tonight I ordered for a few of us as a family dinner. I picked up my order and was given a 10% discount for doing so. The staff is very friendly. The portions are generous and food itself very flavorful. We will be returning customers. We look forward to dining inside again someday. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated.

Just had a family dinner (6 adults) at India Curry House. The food was exceptional and so was the service. They brought out a complimentary appetizer and checked on us many times. The chef came out as well to make sure everything was to our liking. High recommend!

This is my favourite restaurant!I've tried many other Indian places in Regina and this is far and away the best. I've been coming here for a few years now and I have never been disappointed. Old favourites and new flavours are always on the buffet. The service is excellent and the food is amazing!

I really enjoyed this restaurant. We had planned to order from the menu, but the buffet looked awesome. The food was very good with the dal, saag panier and the tondoori chicken being the highlights.

The service was excellent.

The atmosphere was culturally appropriate and made the dinner experience nicer.
Lily
Really good variety for buffet. The tandoori chicken and naan bread comes out fresh and right to your table. They have really good goat curry and butter chicken. The vegetarian dishes are tasty as well. There's not a lot a can say about this place, it's a buffet...you serve yourself.

Amazing food. Always delicious. Love love love the pakoras and the baingan bartha! The owner is really friendly and makes you feel welcome. Did I mention the garlic naan is great too?

The food here is quite good, but as per usual the buffet is too spicy. I just wish they would put hot chili sauce on the side, then if you want to load up on heat can go for it. But for us people that have not grown up with a lot for chili powder ... cant do it. The samosas are too hot for me .... I would go once a week if the buffet wasnt so much chili powder in the food.

Then the other problem, if order from menu and ask for mild they go easy on the other spices as well as the chili powder so it lacks in full flavor, so from now on I just tell them to use 1/4 the chili powder and regular amount of the other spices, now its much better.

If they lower the chili powder in the buffet, will start going again ....

Had the buffet supper last night, decided on this place after reading the reviews, not what we expected after all the great reviews. The service was great, and variety was good.....but, not a place we would eat at again. The naan bread, rice, fish and tandoori chicken was good, but the rest was just not doing it for us....lack of flavour, butter chicken lacked chicken and tasted like it had can tomato soup in it. Have had some great Indian food in other restaurants and the food was amazing, so I guess after reading the reviews we had high expectations.

Loved it! I think this may be my new favourite Indian place in Regina. Great date night meal: split a veg app platter, rice and a paneer. You've got to try the paneer pakora and the shahi paneer! Nice atmosphere and great service.
Nicole Marie
Amazing! Good selection for buffet! Butter chicken, some lamb, many options for vegetarians-paneer, chickpea. Good amount of spices, nothing was overly hot for my pallet. The restaurant went through some renos and has a very nice setup/clean. Reasonable prices too under $40 for two of us.

Delicious! Would definitely return.
Are butter chicken and palak paneer with tandoori naan. The naan was perfectly buttery and salty.

Best Indian Food. I went for the Saturday buffet and was very impressed. The service was great and the good was incredible, particularly the butter chicken and the naan bread. Fantastic!. A co-worker and I just went there for the lunch buffet. I don't know much about Indian food other than butter chicken, so don't ask me to name anything. Anyway, it was all delicious. I basically just mixed everything into one dish on my plate. As for the service...just as good. While we were eating they came around with fresh naan bread and tandoori chicken. Possibly the best naan I've tried. When I went for seconds my dirty plates were gone by the time I got back and our waters were always full. I don't normally tip much on a buffet, but I don't recall having service this good at a buffet before. Definitely worth the $13 buffet price. The only downside is I will be sleeping the rest of my shift.

I had the Naan bread, basmati rice, chicken tikka masala, and gulab jamun. Wow. Absolutely delicious.

Food no test I don't like karahi chicken not fresh

Best Indian Restaurant in Regina? No Doubt!. Da India Curry House is probably the best Indian restaurant in Regina. Regardless of what regional Indian cuisine you like, you will not be disappointed in the offerings available. I personally like the spicier dishes from Goa but I have fallen in love with their butter chicken (which I have always considered India's version of KFC). However, Harminder and his staff have taken great care to serve only the best blend of spices which make this and all of the other dishes that I have tried simply amazing. The daily buffet also offers dishes not normally found in other restaurants - fish, lamb and even goat! If you have never tried Indian cuisine you could do no better than experience the range of flavours served at Da India Curry House.
Amiller
No flavor and raw chicken. I have only eaten here once and the experience was so bad that I will never go back. They did not season their food at all. It was incredibly bland. To make matters worse, the chicken appeared to be partially raw.

A New Dining Experience. Recently my daughter asked us to join her for lunch at the Da India Curry House located on Victoria Avenue. She is a world traveler and has experienced Indian food in many countries. Having never eaten Indian food I was somewhat reluctant but ended up being pleasantly surprised. We chose the luncheon buffet which has a varieties of items to choose from. I particularly enjoyed the Butter Chicken, the Dahl vegetables and the Julab Jamun for dessert. Be wary of the spicy chickpeas for they are pretty hot. All the items are clearly labeled and the staff are available to answer any questions you may have. The restaurant was full to capacity and it is evident that many business people take their lunch there.
Overall the food is tasty and different than anything I have ever had. One has to acquire a taste for the type of food, but as one has more experience it will be another option for dining. The service is good and the surroundings are clean pleasant. Be daring and give it a try.

Delicious!. I've never had a real Indian meal before but wow was this place tasty! they also have a separate restaurant for vegetarians which is also close by. my boyfriend and I went for the lunch buffet today. the restaurant was a nice little setting and the waitress was polite. you get endless fresh naan bread and tandori chicken. it wasnt overly spicy just right for me! my fav. dish was the paneer in tomato and the yellow rice. however, if you want ice in your water, make sure to ask for a glass of ice as they only bring out a pitcher of water without the ice. very much enjoyed and will be going back sometime soon :)

Where is the Service. My husband went to Da Curry House and decided to have the buffet which had excellent food, we also ordered 1 chocolate milk and a lassie we waited and waited and ask for it 3 times and still did not get it then went we were almost finish our meal my husband went to the counter and ask for a diet coke which he got. Even though the food was good because of the service we will never go back there. And also the young lady that was working the cash register and came around with the naan and tandoori chicken never smile, she look so angry,

Best Lunch experience. Go for the buffet! They have a great selection of food, as well as AMAZING rice pudding! You won't be disappointing! Also, the service is great. The owner is very friendly and gets to know you better the more you come!

Thumbs up

Mm!. I tried the butter chicken at mosaic this year and really enjoyed it. I don't remember it being overly spicy or anything.. What stuck out for me was the delicious creamy tomato flavour combined with the spices. So good! I will definitely be visiting them soon!

Just had the dinner buffet and it was amazing!!

Fantastic samosas!

Great Great Food. Spicy, delicious, I could go on and on. Also, a buffet like this for 10.95 during the lunch hour, cannot go wrong. I hate tofu, but they converted me, and that is saying a lot. Butter chicken was juicy, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. You can tell ingredients were fresh! Decor is not the greatest, but with food this good, who cares! Highly recommend.

Best Indian Food in Regina. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in Regina. The ingredients are fresh, the menu is extensive and original and the owners are always polite working hard to ensure that the everything is cooked to perfection and the customers are happy. The buffet is excellent and the menu is even more excellent. I never had one bad dish there. I love the place. The only down side is the ambiance; although clean, the restaurant could use a better location/venue. I will keep returning and returning, however, because it is sooooo good!

Lunch buffet is fabulous. This is probably the best Indian restaurant in Regina. If you want chai order it as soon as you walk in as it takes a while. Excellent value.

Old waitress was good.. Me and my boyfriend are frequent visiters. as we stepped in the restruant, we were expecting a great welcome as Tasha use to give us.unfortunatly we were greeted with a question from a new waitreess asking " do you know your order"? .That question was a greeting statment for us,and it was quiet a big shock. well we sat and than when we started eating our meal it was very HOT.,normally i am capable of handling spice but that was terrfic. we returned our meal hoping HArry will fix the meal for us, but instead harry came and said"thats why you have yougurt". like you put extra spice in the meal and instead of fixing it you are giving us yougurt?.. That was my Last day at that restraunt.

Good eat! Will visit again.. We went for a quick dinner on 9 sept. 2012 evening. we had lamb curry ($11.95) which comes with complementary steamed basmati-rice. we also had plain naan ($1.99 each) and some sweets. The lamb curry tasted really good though we think the meat was not as tender as it should have been. we ordered medium spicy. the naan was okay. the owner was friendly and helpful. the restaurant was clean. overall we enjoyed the food. however, we would have liked some complementary salad which is very common in other indian restaurants.the sweets were also okay. we would give the restaurant 3.8 out of 5.

I went to India Curry House with two friends who like Indian food, but not as much as I do. A coworker had suggested that I order the food as "authentic", where the food is cooked according to the recipe instead of being made mild, medium or hot. We ordered lamb methi, chicken tikka masala, and chicken Goa curry, plus nan, papadum, etc etc. (They have no beef dishes) We were very pleased with our meal. Having to wait a few extra minutes for the 'authentic' recipe was absolutely worth it - the food was very flavorful and everything was very very delicious with a perfect amount of spice I'm not a big fan of lamb because I usually find it too greasy but the lamb methi was very nice.

The only downside -- and it's not about the food that was served to us -- is that there are no beef dishes. I would have loved to have tried beef Vindaloo here.

Will always visit again. I have been to this place for number of times and each time I was impressed with the polite and courteous service received from its owner. The place is a bit small so you have to be there by 11:45AM to accomodate bigger group.
Food is awasome and fresh. They sell some fine sweets as well.
There menu is not large like Spices of Punjab but still has a lot of choices.
My favorite dish over there is there potatos with Green and Red peppers. Its awasome. Also their vegetable biryani is yummy.
If you are looking for good Indian food served with smile, India Curry House is the place to go.

Excellent service, poor taste. I must point out I only tried the buffet and usually off the menu is much better. The butter chicken was alright and so was the nann bread however everything else was lacking the tasteful punch of a great curry.

Very Pleased. I had the pleasure of stopping in on Friday evening for the Dinner Buffet. Walking in I was immediately greeted with a pleasant smile and fresh water. I went to the buffet and filled up my plate. I had the paneer, chana masala, dal, pakora, rice pilaf, and steamed rice. Everything was extremely delicious and they kept bringing fresh naan to the table as soon as I ran out (which was often). In the end I left after eating two large plates from the buffet and too much naan to count. I will definitely be back here and I think I may have found my favorite Indian restaurant in Regina.

Great lunch spot. I think I just found a new favourite lunch spot. The lunch buffet was great - a nice variety of traditional Indian food. The take out menu looks good as well and I would not hesitate to order take out for our office for a special lunch. The owner was present and was able to tell us potential allergens as me and my dining partner both have allergies.
Murhov
Great East Indian, especially the buffet.. I really like this restaurant, The food is great and the service is friendly. It is a bit on the small side, so I would recommend getting there early for the lunch buffet.

Good food, small place.... I'd advise you to visit early in the week, but be warned that DA India Curry House is NOT open Tuesdays. The room is small and fills quickly. Buffet is good, but menu has excellent choices too. The owner, Harry, was cook at a competitor until this year. He'll make just about anything you want, but be careful of what is considered "hot." It's been a hot summer, so order a cooling mango lassi. And get some burfi (barfi), an Indian milk confection, on the way out. It's sold by the pound ... be careful, it's addictive.
Cuzpix
Favorite Restaurant. Our family gets this for delivery very often. A few times we sit there and eat, but it's small and quaint. Even though it's tiny the food is amazing, it has the best indian food in Regina. Most of the dishes are heavy but good, and they have a unique taste even though it's Indian food. All their dishes are a little different from your average butter chicken. I recommend if you like Indian food you try it.
LauraB
Good Indian Food. My husband and I just picked up dinner from Da India and it was awesome!!! We had a few sides and the chicken vindaloo. Will definetley go back.

Best Sweets in Regina. If someone wants to eat indian/pakistani sweets please go to this place.

I would recommend their sweet rings (jalebi)

This is a really small restaurant with really good Indian food. They have a buffet to give you a good exposure if you are a novice to Indian cuisine. Their menu allow customize hotness to your desire. They also do some Indian pastry and bake goods

Da India Curry House is the best Indian restaurant in Regina. I don’t photograph it often because the dishes generally look like hot bowls of slop, but Indian food is a real favourite of mine. It’s very communal food, meant for sharing and mashing all together on your plate. Savoury, spicy and warm, it’s also perfect for rainy days and hangovers. Today has both in spades.
