Review The Noodle House - Red Deer

Eryn “E” B.
Been looking for a new Chinese food restaurant ever since my former favourite closed down and prices have increased while portion size has decreased at other ones I've tried. A friend discovered Luckys and offered to buy dinner for me as they were looking for a new restaurant as well. I had the dinner for 1-B and the restaurant was very kind and switched one of the dishes for me. The portion sizes were very generous and I ended up having two suppers out of the entire thing. The food was absolutely fantastic! Each dish was wonderfully seasoned and incredibly delicious. Even though I didn't purchase this time around, the menu prices were very decent! I can't wait to try more! I have found my new Chinese & Vietnamese restaurant!!!

Food tasted old, the ginger beef was hard to chew and the food tasted bland and terrible. Seventeen bucks for this garbage that I wouldn’t feed to a stray dog. My wife complained to the waitress and she said the new owner had said these owners took over 3 years back and had raving reviews. Bad food!!

First time here and it wont be my last. Awesome food, great value, and most of all friendly staff! Highly recommend this place if you want great Chinese food!

Special night out. Food tasted old, mouldy and found a sharp piece of plastic in spring roll. Complained and management blamed the company they bought product from. That's all. Regretfully paid our bill, I felt ripped off and will never go back. Messaged them later with no response Very sad experience as owners are kind. But paying for disgusting food? Not cool.

Crazy good value! Very generous servings were really a pleasant surprise. Very receptive to dietary needs of a big busy family!

The delivery was fast but the food was bland and tasteless the ginger beef was tough tasted old very little flavor the chicken chow mein had no flavour the chicken chop suey was tasteless too the sweet sour pork had to much coating and had strong taste of vinegar also bland the springrolls were not very good either ! I will not waste my money on Luckys again very dissatisfied

Please do not order from here.  I spent 45 dollars getting food delivered and it was honestly the worst Chinese food I have ever had.  While their Salad Rolls were at least ok, the rest of the order was borderline inedible.  The sweet-and-sour pork was all fat and gristle, the Shrimp Chow Mein had no flavor (not even salt) and the pork dumplings WERE inedible, being carelessly fried, bland and stodgy.  Portions were huge and the food arrived piping hot, I will give them that, but I don't see the point of such large amounts of bad food.

The worst Vietnamese food I've ever tasted. I tossed most of it out. Bland. Flavorless. I had vermicelli. My husband had the curry chicken on rice. He tossed most of his out. I'm not picky and I have had a lot of vietnamese, but this is by far the worst. Never again.

My man picked up a couple Pad Thai's and an order of naan bread. And honestly both pad Thai's we're horrible. Mine was extremely dry and bland and his was soup. When I first went here a few months ago, it was great and now it's just seems like they don't care about their food, or the chef that was working last night isn't a great one.

I am disappoint. :( My hu.... I am disappoint. :(<br/><br/>My husband is from Red Deer and we used to come to the noodle house very regularly. We are down for Easter this weekend and came or lunch. Either I am glamorizing the memory, or this place has gone downhill. My seafood noodle soup had chunks of faux crab and a couple shrimps only. No squid, no fish balls, etc, and they were out of basil entirely. What noodle house runs out of thai basil, isn't that half the menu?! This visit did not meet my expectations, Noodle House needs to step up their game. :/

One word. Terrible. Worst vietnamese food I've probably ever had... and I've had a lot. <br/>Bland salad rolls with mystery meat... it was almost all noodles, some lettuce, a shrimp, and some random mystery luncheon meat??? Plus, they didn't come with sauce. <br/>Also had the pork Dumplings which were all thick dumpling, and no filling. <br/>Vermicelli dish was awful. I Ordered chicken and spring roll vermicelli... chicken was gross, bland and dry and with some nasty breaded coating... and three tiny pieces of spring roll... I don't even thing it constituted an entire roll.<br/>And they cut their noodles up in teeny tiny pieces which just drives me nuts. <br/>Won't be going here ever again. <br/>Red Deer is seriously lacking in the Vietnamese department, don't go here. If you've never had vietnamese food before, you might like it if you have nothing to compare it to.

Convenience Only. I keep going here because it is close to work but I am SO disappointed with how bad it is.<br/>My coworkers love it, and I assume it is because they've never had better. <br/>The vermicelli dishes lack flavour and the meat is always chewy.<br/>I keep ordering HOPING it will get better. It never does. Thank god for hot sauce.

TERRIBLE Chinese food. Food is not as described. Ordered the pork shanghai noodles and szechuan chicken. Here was the breakdown..<br/><br/>Szechuan chicken<br/>50% onion<br/>30% celery<br/>20-25% pepper/mushroom<br/>MAYBE 10% chicken<br/><br/>Pork shanghai noodle<br/>50% bean sprouts<br/>40% noodles<br/>10% pork<br/><br/>I'm sorry but I expected one dish to be just noodles/pork and the other just chicken. Horrible when it's barely 10% meat.<br/><br/>The Shanghai noodles are very greasy, and the Szechuan chicken is plain chicken (mostly fat) that has no szechuan sauce. It comes in a disgusting soupy watery sauce not at all spicy or like any other Szechuan chicken I've had at well over 100 different Chinese restaurants in my life.<br/><br/>Avoid this place like the plague.

It went in the garbage. I ordered out from here, took one bite of each dish and promptly threw it all in the garbage. Disappointing as I had eaten there years ago before moving here and it was good. This was not just an off night, it really was just inedible.

This place has changed..... I seriously used to order or go here at least once a week. After moving away for a few years, then coming back, I decided to try it out again. I've been disappointed every time I go. <br/><br/>Sometimes bad service. I've been served raw chicken in my dishes before. It's not hard to cook chicken. <br/><br/>I have no idea what the heck happened, I just hope this place bounces back. I'll keep trying here and there.

Ok .... Had a delicious salad roll and, House noodle soup which was ok. Server was ok, decor was ok, price was ok. Nothing was spectacular but nothing was bad either.

We started with spring rolls which were good, but the sause was far more viniger-tasting than other restaurants. <br/><br/>We had #19 seafood won ton, and #20 war won ton. They had lots of won tons which was good (and often lacking in many restaurants) I always add hot sause to mine as I love spicy. All in all I found it good, but very typical.

Good stuff. I had read widely mixed reviews, so I was tentative at first. However, I was very pleased with the quick service, great portions, and very good pricing. I had salad and spring rolls, followed by the House Special vermicelli bowl. Relief washed over me as my pork was just fine (whew!) If I had any complaint, it would be that our friendly young server was a little scarce after I had over-indulged on the Srirachi sauce and chili oil in my noodles - my second Pepsi came a little later than required. Regardless, great value and I will be back...

I ordered the vegetarian chow mein and it was terrible. The noodles were burnt black, the flavour lacking (and overpoweringly burnt), and the veggies cut into huge chunks - leafy greens and broccoli as big as my hand and giant mushrooms. This was seriously one of the worst meals I have ever bought (and I wouldn't have paid if I hadn't taken it out from the restaurant). Go to Pho Thuy Duoung or Fusion Cafe, where the food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared.

Good food. Food is really good.huge portions ,fast service.I been going to noodle house for years and the only thing I have to complain about is a Server there.she is an older lady that Usually works with a young lady during lunch, and while the young lady gives excellent service, the other seems pissed off to be there.kind of wrecks the experience .and the young lady(I don't know her name but she has super long hair) seems to be doing all the work, which does not seem fair.however as I mentioned the food is great and if u can look beyond that one lady's work ethic I highly recommend this place.plus I have only seen that grumpy lady during lunch

STAY AWAY ! Has this dump been inspected lately? Food no whereas good as it once was. There must have been a change of ownership! Went to get takeout, owner rude and dismissive. When the food arrived, was not told and finally had to ask for it. And on top of this, as we left, the girl was very indignant that a tip wasn't given. REALLY? Horrible experience all in all, and the food itself was absolutely unremarkable. I can do better getting frozen food from supermarket!

DO NOT waste your money and personal respect at this hole! My pork was rotten and they insisted I pay regardless of their old sweaty pork. I didn't eat it and was enraged at their lack of regard for customer service, and satisfaction. I paid 10 dollars for a shove it up your butt attitude! DON'T GO THERE!!!!!

My food was cold, service was lousy and it looked and tasted terrible. Never again.

K, so in a nutshell. Disgusting! To make a short story long. Since the fall this place has steadily gotten worse. It has now gotten to the point I've gotta steer people away from this place. Food was void of taste. Meat textures were questionable. My beef was very similar to, of all things, spam in texture and color. The chicken rubbery and gelatinous. A combo of textures unimaginable until experienced. Add to that the mystery hair on the container and the abyssal phone skills of the guy taking my order, which led to a key item being left. In the words of a young Justin Timberlake. Bye bye bye

Not a place u want to eat in, I would only recommend take out but I love this place so yummy I like the sweet and sour chicken
Kattsu Duong
Pho was tasteless and without vegetables on the side. Rau thom is a must!!! Bean sprouts is a must!!! Rare beef became hard and rubbery. Menu wasn't even in viet!!! Best value was the parking outside @ $0.75/hour.

Yummy pho and the portions are huge!

I wouldn't consider Red Deer a culinary hot spot, in fact I have found very few places that I routinely hit up when in The Deer. The noodle house might just be the exception. There are a handful of restaurants serving up Vietnemese food and this is the best. Never disappointed. Atmosphere is lacking but the staff is friendly and food is good. On this trip I had the number 22, house special vermicelli (grilled pork, prawns, spring rolls). What I like about the way they prepare this dish is that put crisp lettuce and bean sprouts under the hot noodles and it provides for some good crunch. Mrs. Gastrodamus had the chicken chow mein. Great meal. I'll be back.

Spring Break Challenge Day Three. Wor Wonton Noodle Soup: Loaded with vegetables, crab meat, shrimp and noodles...temperature was hot and it was tasty with fresh ingredients...the serving size is huge...ordered a small for my daughter and I to share and we still had left overs.<br/><br/>Spicy Tiger Prawns with Vegetables on Rice: Wow...this was great, the vegetables were ALL fresh and cooked perfectly and the rice was nicely done...it could of been a bit more spicy, but still very well done dish. Shrimp was tender and not over cooked.<br/><br/>Grilled Chicken and Spring Rolls on Vermicelli Noodles: A huge bowl of noodles, bean sprouts, and lettuce with grilled chicken on top and served with a sauce. The Spring Roll was not too greasy and tasty, but the dish came with only one small Spring Roll. The chicken was a bit fatty, but still tasty, the rest of the dish could of used a bit more flavour.<br/><br/>Service: Brisk and somewhat friendly. Dishes came quickly and nice and hot.<br/><br/>Atmosphere: Not much style or much to look at, but tidy and the food is good enough to overlook the atmosphere.<br/><br/>Will I go again: YES!

YUM. I LOVE the salt a pepper chicken. It's usually quiet and can be a little cold in there sometimes, but regardless I've never been disappointed here. Its definitely one of my favorite places.
