Review The Chopped Leaf - Red Deer

Have always had an amazing experience here and am a very regular customer until I recently had a negative experience with who I imagine to be the manager of the location. During my regular visits, I am greeted immediately with excellent service. My visit recently with the manager was not similar at all, when I proceeded to order the same item I’ve ordered for months I was told I am no longer able to substitute the lettuce choice on my wrap. Which is totally fine, I understand policies and procedures at a store level can be challenging to communicate to a large store team. However, the manager of the location was extremely unprofessional and condescending to me not only in tone, but how she spoke of her staff. She attempted to charge me extra without communicating that to me due to my request. When I inquired she rolled her eyes and took it off. I was evidently very shocked by this service as I usually have such an amazing experience. I feel terrible tor the staff working at the location if that is their leader.

I just recently became a regular customer of this store's location. I always have a good experience being greeted by their lovely staffs. I had chopped leaf in BC before and I noticed some diffenrences in regards to food serving, like the salad bowls and quesadillas (which I always order), and how well it is cooked but throughout all the visits I had in this location, I noticed improvements with these foods especially the salad. The salad ingredients became more proportional.

I have ordered the Bankok Wrap at multiple Chopped Leaf locations, mostly in Calgary, and now at this Red Deer location. For some reason, this location gives fairly small portions, which is frustrating enough, but also for some reason only put in about 1/4 the sauce as any of the other locations I've been to. The first time I went here I figured it was a training mistake, so now this second time I have gone, I specifically asked if they could make sure they added enough sauce. The employee working told me that if I wanted extra sauce that I'd have to pay for it. I, who already tipped over $2, told the employee that I just wanted to make sure they did not forget to add the sauce in general. Well, sure enough, just before typing this review, I got to eat the best raw lettuce and noodle wrap this county has seen. I will be in Calgary this weekend, and plan to buy two Bangkok wraps there, and bring them back with me to Red deer, to literally show the workers/manager what a proper Bangkok wrap should look like. Frankly, when I'm paying $19 for 2 wraps (I tipped) I should be able to enjoy it. Thus far, without a change, I will not be coming back, which is a huge shame as I often went to the Chopped leaf locations in Calgary.

Very disappointing full signature salad with chicken tonight. This skimpy salad did not come close to filling the box, with tiny portions of onions, cranberries, pecans, feta, and very little chicken. Even the amount of dressing fell short. This take out dinner was nowhere close to worth the $18 (including tip).

Nicely set up. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I was greated upon walking in the door even though all the staff were busy working. I first had their food on a plane and ended up really liking it. My only complaint would be the price for the amount of food you get. Food is good quality, but not something I would get every day simply because I can go to other places and get more food for a lesser price and still have good quality. If you're a student, you can use your SPC card to get free chopped water.

Every time I visit this location the staff/ owner could not be friendlier. The ingredients are always fresh. The reason for my two stars is that every time I purchase salads from this location, they seem to give half the ingredients (especially the chicken) that other locations give. When I pay $14 for a salad I expect the box to have the same quantities that I receive at other Chopped Leafs. I fear that being served by the owner, she may be more concerned with skimping on ingredients to help the bottom line then making her customers content and offering the same quantities the other Chopped Leaf locations offer. Because of the skimping, I now avoid this location, which is unfortunate as I live and work close to this store.

I am disappointed to give this review. We have been loyal, maybe even extremely loyal Clearview Red Deer location customers for years! It is literally the place we choose given we have a meal in or out. We had never been charged extra for our kids to have a side of ranch. Given the circumstances of the pandemic our kids were home bound for zoom dance class so I was unable to run out and pickup - (which is what I prefer than to pay Skip The Dishes to save on costs for the business and myself.) Tonight my husband worked late and kids were doing zoom dance so, I thought tonight I will just have to order through Skip The Dishes and, as we do, we ordered chopped leaf. I got a call from Skip the Dishes asking for my visa number over the phone to cover the cost for the sides of ranch for my kids meal - 6 kids meals ordered and asked for 3 extra ranch. I was not comfortable giving my cc over the phone so I called the location. Here’s the thing I have no problem paying the extra money!!! I explained myself and asked if they could help us out this one time and next time I’ll be sure to pay. The lady was abruptly rude, no conversation or explanation just “ No, we are charging you”. Needless to say, the money was never my issue but the customer service now has become an issue. So, they lost a customer that ordered at least 1-2 times a week, maybe more with quick lunch pickups too. Customer service is key! Take care of those who take care of you! Lots of new places up around here thankfully😊

Missing more then half of the ingredients. They got 1 star because they were nice.

Why do they insist on asking for a tip when you pay in advance for your food?! Its not even proper "service" that you are getting. There are some healthy options but its all a bit sterile and uninviting.

I love this restaurant, raw clean fresh veggies (not packaged). Wonderful staff in a always meticulously clean restaurant. You feel really good after eating here. I recommend the Bangkok salad.
New favorite are these healthy things called Stuffed Cups. Basmati rice and your choice of fresh veggies. Great to pickup on the go, if you know you are going to be busy.
Two green thumbs way up!

Chopped Water (lime and pineapple) taste horrible. I still don't know if I like Chopped Leaf or not because I've only tried their Chopped Tuna Melt sandwich which taste fairly similar to what I had from other fast food restaurants. What I don't like for sure is their Chopped Water (lime and pineapple). It taste somewhat bitter and horrible like I want to throw up. My son paid the bill so I'm not sure how much he paid for the two cups of chopped water and if he did I think it's not worth the money he spent. We ended up leaving the restaurant with our cups more than half-full. They may claim it's healthy and nutritious but that doesn't mean I have to ignore my taste buds and pretend it's okay to drink it. (July 27, 2014)

... All the vegetables tasted fresh with the black bean corn salsa coming through distinctly. I especially love the burst of fresh sweetness from the corn. The salad was well-dressed with a good flavor of chipotle bringing everything together. This was my favorite dish of the night.
