Review La Casa Pergola - Red Deer

Tracy Nelson
Lovely atmosphere in both the lounge and dining area. I had the pesto pollo linguine with a glass of their house red. I refused to leave without finishing my entire bowl. It was so delicious. I loved the green onion to top and the amount of sauce was just right. What wonderful staff as well. So kind. I was just in town passing through but, what a gem you have, Red Deer!

Food was pretty good but there was only one server so service was kind of spotty. Decor was very charming and tables are well spaced.
Brendan McCauley
We were given the option to have a secluded booth and it was awesome! Nice and private and the food was truly amazing! Service was impeccable.
Stephanie Hordal
Service was excellent, romantic atmosphere, excellent food. Excellent is an understatement. You will not get better Italian in Red Deer. I could not have had a better experience. Will be a returning customer. Amazing Gluten Free options.

Great spot in Red Deer. From start to finish, both our meal and service was outstanding. Delisious!!

Went there tonight for my wife’s birthday celebration. Very classy decor, great service and fantastic food! This is a family owned business you need to support!!! We will definitely be back!

Nice atmosphere. Limited menu. We each had a chicken dish. Prices were high eg $12/ 6 oz wine and $27 chicken dish with one side. Food was tasty and service (we ate in lounge) was friendly. Good for special occasions

I love this quaint, romantic restaurant! The lobster risotto was amazing and the service was outstanding. The chef came out to thank us for coming in and to see how the dinner was, nice touch.

We were at La Casa Pergola for a birthday supper on March 19th. What a disappointment! We were so excited to be going as we hadn't been there for quite some time. It used to be our favorite place to eat, but not anymore. We were a group of 13, so the 18% gratuity was automatically added to everyone's bill. General consensus was that nobody would have tipped that much. When we got there, there was 1 other table of 2 and our service was very slow! We had ordered an appetizer, the Aragosta Frite, and it came out with tomatoes on it which weren't listed in the description. We sat there for a good 15 minutes before we could "flag down" the server. She kindly replaced it with one without once it was explained that it was an allergy and that all ingredients hadn't been in the description. . Definitely not worth the 18.00. Small bowl of French fries with a bit of sauce and a little bit of lagostino on top. Once the main course came out it didn't take long to realize that the quality has gone down. A very small serving of linguine that was very dry and lacking in both sauce and flavor with a miniscule amount of seafood. Definitely not worth the 31.00. My husband had the Pollo Alexander, and again small portion and lacking in sauce. He wasn't impressed with it at 32.00. I used to recommend LA Casa Pergola to people, telling them how wonderful the food was and that the atmosphere was probably the most romantic place in Red Deer, but I won't anymore. It was nothing but a big overly priced disappointment.

Had date night with my husband here last night. Amazing! The food was out of this world and the service was among the best I have ever had. I highly recommend trying the pollo margarita oh so very good!

My friend and I ate in here last night and it was amazing! The food was so good... a bit expensive but totally worth it! I had the Sacchetti Con Tartufo and the flavour was perfect. The wine was great and dessert was delicious! And our waiter was so nice and did a great job!

we came to this restaurant for Valentines last night. when my husband had made our reservations about a month ago he was not informed that it was a set four course meal. we were not hungry for dinner so we asked if we could have just an appetizer and drinks. they made an exception for us to have appetizers, but they would be $15 a plate. the appetizers came out as 2 tiny pieces of bruschetta and 2 prawns with prosciutto around them. I think they realized how absurd it was to charge us $30.00 for this little amount of food so they knocked it down to 11.00 for each plate, which was still insane. 1 6oz glass of wine, one ceasar, 2 prawns and 2 baguette slices of bruschetta came to 48.00. we decided not to cause a scene on Valentines but will likely never go back. the only saving grace was the sweet server we had.

My boyfriend and I went to La Casa Pergola for our anniversary last night and it was our first time at this restaurant. We were very impressed with the service and the food was amazing. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend it!

We have gone to La Casa Pergola for years now and have always been very happy with the food and service. Last night was not one of these nights. Served crab filled Ravioli...Serving size, presentation and taste were less than great. e

This was my first visit since the new ownership. I hosted a social event tonight and it was the perfect space to enjoy a evening out. It has an intimate and quite atmosphere. The food was amazing! The staff was exceptional! Friendly, professional and attentive. I will continue to host my events here and recommend it to anyone who has not visited this "Little Italy" in the heart of Red Deer.

We went March 17 to take my daughter out for her birthday. There was 4 of us adults and my granddaughter. The food was amazing and the service great. Highly recommend!

Food was amazing I had the veal parmesan and the wife had the linguini with shrimp and crab both were great and the service as excellent as well . would highly recommend eating here!!

We went on a Monday for lunch, so we were the only ones here. The food was amazing. The staff friendly. When we come back to Red Deer, we'll definitely stop in again for something else on the menu.

Great lounge specials. Love the patio. Service is always great!

Price tag was hefty, but the food was absolutely amazing. I could find nothing I would change with my meal, the attention to detail was great.
Stan Rienguette
I loved it!! Great atmosphere, terrific food and service. You just gotta try the dessert menu. Thanks Kate for the great service and smiles and Kim, I’m sure you will have great success with this venture.

My friend and I came here tonight as a special treat. Instead of buying Christmas presents we splurge every year go for a fancier supper to visit and catch up! We were so disappointed in the atmosphere, the service and the food after hearing such good things from friends. We sat right next to a bookcase/shelf and basically could have had dinner with the couple beside us, our $30 pastas had barely any flavour and mine was cold....like some of it came right from the fridge. Our waiter was so busy we were never checked on or asked how our meal was, so no second chance to have the pastas remade or at least heated up. When ordering my friend was told the dish she ordered wasn't available and it was only the noodle that wasn't but if she wouldn't have asked or questioned to just have a different noodle she would have had to choose something she didn't want. After spending over $90 we ended up stopping for snacks and fast food because we didn't eat much of our meals.

My boyfriend took me to La Casa Pergola for my birthday dinner and it was the perfect night! The service was outstanding, the food was perfectly cooked/seasoned, and the dessert (chocolate brownie) was divine!! Would definitely come back.
June Darnell
Amazing food, great service and the ambience was perfect! Will definitely be visiting again; sooner than later.

La Casa Pergola, Red Deer Alberta. <br/>I have been to this eating establishment 4 times over 3 years.  The first time was a 5 star rating all accounts.  Last night was awful.  The pasta dish was very bland even after asking for additional sauce.  The Lamb dish, which is the most expensive dish on the menu, was less than adequate.  The salmon dish was dry and the plating was boring.  Cracked pepper soon after food delivery wasn't offered.  The service was not appreciated either.  I do not recommend this restaurant.

The food is very good here, and it’s pretty fancy inside, but the food portions are very small. Not to take away from the food, it’s very good, but my spouse wasn’t ok with how small the portions were so we didn’t end up going back because of this😐
Louise
Sadly, we came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and I have been apologising since. If we had not been to Sorentino's in Edmonton last week for my birthday, for an exceptional meal, maybe this review may have been slightly better? The food at Casa Pergola was adequate and the service abysmal. Is there anywhere in Red Deer with good food?<br/>
Joshua Friend
It was a good experience, fairly authentic. Decent value, though not cheap. Service was good, but some may look for something more attentive. The focus instead was on privacy and a dining experience that allows you to chat and enjoy food together. Book ahead on weekends for sure.
JDub
My last experience here was poor. Years ago I used to appreciate their pasta and trying to be out of the box from a chain but the service really kills it now.

Loved my visit to Pergola. Got to sit on the new and improved patio (just beautiful). Best place in Red Deer to sip a glass of wine enjoy your company and people watch. Food once again was perfection. Service was fast and friendly. I recommend the lobster fries and homemade cheesecake.

I cannot give enough high praises about this place!  Totally loved it!!  I am new in town and had it recommended to me by a co-worker.  Based on the high praises I could not wait to go.  And it did not disappoint!. The Owners changed hands just recently (May 1st) and they have already made some great changes.  As of Sunday, May 21st they will have an amazing sidewalk patio that can seat sixteen.  It will be so nice on our great summer days!  They have half price wine on Wednesdays - who cannot pass up that deal??  And I suspect some other summer specials may be coming their way.

La Casa Pergola has been my favourite restaurant for over a decade. The food quality is unsurpassed. I personally have never had a bad experience, service, food or otherwise. <br/>
Kate Gislason
I would highly recommend la casa pergola. Great for special Occasions, birthdays or anniversary. The staff Was great and the food was even better. Highly recommend

Overpriced. Bad service. No bread and oil. Charged me to split a $25 plate of spaghetti and meatballs with my 6 year old. Someone need to give this a real review and not one by the staff. If you like
Michael MooKing
I went here last weekend with a group of 11 people. It took quite a while for the staff to begin serving us, but they redeemed themselves once they got going. The food was divine and the portion sizes were perfect. The truffle ravioli was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth and it paired perfectly with the Chateauneuf-de-Pape I brought along. Those who say this establishment is too pricey should stick with Olive Garden- they don't know what great food is. I would go back again to try the tasting menu.

Just had my birthday dinner here. Food was good, but I think overpriced for what you got. Service was great, my sons steak was overlooked and they fixed it immediately with no problems! Our waiter was great, overall I would go back again.<br/>

Came here for a staff outing a while back. The food was good, the drink selection better. The service was middling and no warning was given about the group gratuity, so the double tip was unwarranted and unfortunately uncorrected
ToughCritic
Fantastic service and great food! Pricey but to be expected for the experience. Fancy and enjoyable environment. The lobster fries are a delicious appy and I definitely recommend the lobster and crab tortellini as a main dish. The veal is good too! The salads are nothing special.
Okayimoda
Be careful if you use a credit card to pay at this restaurant....... I realized later, they charged "gratuity" on my bill (This bill is NOT for a group, just for me....ONE person), and, they asked me to pay tips through the credit card machine.<br/>I should have checked my bill, that is my fault, but still I think it's very sneaky.

Great atmosphere, excellent service and a very tasty meal!!

Big Disappointment!. Made a reservation with Shauna for 7 pm last night for two. Showed up on time and was told by the manager??? (Terry) that she had never seen a night like this - where no tables were moving. She went on to offer us a high table in the lounge if we wanted, did not seem concerned that we had made a reservation. While standing there, my husband had noticed a table for two (prob our reserved table) being taken by a couple carrying drinks from the lounge. The manager continued on with excuses as to why our reservation was not being honored (perhaps she was hoping our eyesight was bad and couldn't see our table being given away). Not impressed!!! This particular manager(?) has worked in the service industry for many years (old Shauneys, Rusty Pelican and now back at La Casa), hard to imagine that she has yet to learn the value of good customer relations. We went on to another restaurant where we had impeccable service above and beyond expectations and our server received a very hefty tip at the end of our meal. Very disappointed with La Casa Pergola
Strawberries_61z
Very disappointing!. A group of 6 of us went there on New Years Eve 2014, appetizer was great, server was friendly, but one of my friends in our party did not receive her food and was told that it was given to someone else and server said they would bring another soon. About 15 minutes later the server brought out a huge bowl of crab leg soup because the server said she couldn't stand that my friend didn't have anything to eat, but my friend said it didn't taste good at all! In fact we all agreed that the food was just mediocre, for the high price of the meals ($30-40) we were VERY disappointed!!! Quantity was OK but quality was lacking! The meal consisted of a choice of meat, about 5 mini potatoes, a few cut up carrots, and a beat, no salad or bread was offered. I think this meal was a special for New Years Eve dinner, but for the price they should have served salad, bread and dessert as well. I ordered a side salad and it was $10 and dessert was $8 extra!! My friend never received her meal until we were all ready to go she the server packed it up to go and insisted on paying for my friend's entire meal, which was nice, but her evening was ruined by that time!! We will NEVER GO BACK TO LA CASA PERGOLA!!

Brutal... Had reservation f.... Brutal...<br/>Had reservation for two weeks for private room and presentation Monday.<br/><br/>Just got call Friday 4:42pm that they are closed Monday and cannot honor my reservation.<br/><br/>They said they tried all week to call me, when asked if they left message she said no.<br/><br/>Not going Monday or ever again.

Overrated & Overpriced. My husband, a cousin, and I made reservations for a belated birthday dinner at La Casa Pergola. We arrived on time, and after confirming that we did have a reservation, the server at the door proceeded to inform us he had nowhere to seat us in the dining room. All of this without any kind of apology for not honouring our reservation. He pointed at an empty table that seated six and said it was reserved for another party. Now, I get that we were only a party of three and they wanted this table for a larger group, but why wasn't there a table for us with a reserved sign on it? Isn't that, after all, the point of a reservation? They ended up shuffling us into the lounge, which is noticeably less nice than the dining room. (Though the dining room, if I'm being perfectly honest, is kitschy masquerading as fancy. Nothing about artificial plants conveys a sense of elegance.) <br/><br/>We sat in the lounge waiting--for our drink order to be taken, to be given menus, for a server to even approach our table, anything--as a cluster of servers hovered around the bar chatting and just generally ignoring us. We had a sneaking suspicion that we weren't dressed up enough, though I find this particularly ridiculous as the servers themselves were dressed somewhat informally. We were dressed casually, but tidy and not sloppily, and not in shorts. (This is Red Deer, after all. You're lucky if people have the courtesy to take off their ball caps in a restaurant.) Finally, our server showed up and he was quite clearly new to the serving trade. At this point, we cut the guy some slack. My husband and I have worked quite a bit in food service, so we get it.<br/><br/>The food was all right, but certainly not fantastic, and certainly not worth the overblown price. I ordered the Gnocchi alla Gorgonzola and at $24 I expected something that tasted better than this dish did. It didn't come with anything in addition to the main course either. No side salad, no bread, nothing. We've been to a number of Italian restaurants and most of them were far better and far less pricey than La Casa Pergola. (The most recent before this experience was in Amsterdam. The décor was on the shabby side, but the food was fantastic.) The drink menu at La Casa Pergola was not overly diverse and was overpriced as well. I should probably also mention that on a trip to the restroom, my cousin happened to notice a number of empty tables in the dining room, lending credence to our suspicions that we weren't dressed up enough to eat amongst the fake foliage and "fancy" folks. <br/><br/>The overwhelming sense we got was that this was a place that thought far too highly of itself and totally didn’t deliver an experience worthy of any kind of praise or a return visit. If you like passable but pricey Italian fare, paltry portions, and service that is lacking, you might actually enjoy La Casa Pergola. As for me, I most likely won't be returning for another underwhelming and kind of exasperating experience.

My husband and I ate here for the first time this weekend. The spaghetti was quite bland, I would not recommend it to anyone. The gnocchi was tasty! The staff were friendly.
Brooke Mullett
There food is fantastic home made pasta noodles. a little higher in the price for red deer but worth it for a nice dinner date.
Geo Cobb
I ordered the veal park, it was very marginal. The breading was soft and mushy, which was interesting because there was very little sauce on the dish.<br/>My ceased salad however was quite nice.<br/>Our server was very friendly.<br/>Over all though, the food did not live up to the prices.

Overpriced and Bland. The service was great, the food was lousy. Went with a group of 8, we were all disappointed. The food was so bland and pasty. I thought surely someone must of ordered something decent, after tasting everyone's food realized no, it was all bad. Will never go there again.<br/><br/><br/>-----16 Apr, 2014-----<br/><br/>Never Again. Went with a group of seven people. All of the dishes were horrible. Bland, boring and very overpriced.

Rip off. Lunch at Casa Pergola - small ceasar salad with 3 bite sized pieces of chicken and a tea...which was hot water and tea bag on the side...take a guess???<br/><br/>$27.99<br/><br/>Are you kidding me? Dont get me wrong the salad was as good as picking one up from Superstore, the 3 smaller than chicken nuggets pieces of chicken were okay...so even food quality aside... $30

Had reservations for March 21/14. Table was ready when we arrived. Drinks, appetizers and main entrees were very slow to arrive but we were not in a hurry so did not mind the wait. The food was absolutely delicious, I cannot say one bad word about it. There were six of us and we all agreed it was well worth the wait and will definitely return. Our waiter was also very good and had a great sense of humour. Only thing I did not like was some of the decor, like the sheet hanging from the ceiling and the shower curtain hiding the hostess stand, it was a little tacky.

Great hidden Gem. Red Deer has tons of chain restaraunts and when we found La Casa everything changed. this place is so beautiful and romantic, and the food is absolutely amazing!! Everything we have ever tired is top notch!! certainly a big favorite!

I can't believe there's not a lineup. What a great restaurant! Excellent service with everything on the menu something you would order a second time. A very welcoming atmosphere makes you want to return again and again. And then there's the wine list....wonderful!
Pompus Crap
Ordered the involtini came out burnt chewy and just overall was crap ... this was the second time i have came here and my food came out lacking any sort of good ..... thought i would give it a few chances as i have friends that used to go back in the day and said it was delicious .... guess they have not been recently ...oh and fine dining my ass there was some fat dude sitting at the bar in pajama pants and dirty clothes chugging beer and im pretty sure stoned out of his tree ..... awesome .....
TR_Yoyal
La Casa Pergola - Fig vinaigrette. As per picture posted for this dressing, just a look at it is self explanatory ( more oil than dressing).<br/>Have been here several times and this was the last. for an italian restaurant it is very amateur; dressing are way over oiled!!!! food was cold & quite bland.<br/>On another occasion we were in the lounge and the RUDE waitress served us the wrong meal and pretty much told us to deal with it & overly oiled salad. The owner wasn't any help either (she was a table across from us getting drunk with her friend)& could not be bothered to deal with it at the moment!

Valentines day. Ate here for 3 years on V day. 2013 was not a good day. Food was just ok. Service wasn't good. <br/><br/>Won't be back n

Love it, best in Red Deer. We called on a Saturday night, and they were nice enough to squeeze us in, we'd never been before but had driven past many times, with the intention to one day go for dinner. It was absolutely awesome, we sat in the lounge (too late for a reservation in the dining room) and it's an elegant yet cozy space. Our server, a really nice young lady recommended the fried risotto balls, as an appetizer, after I asked if they were good. They were great. My BF had veal and I had fettucini with chicken. We loved our meals, which came with bread (with butter and the oil/vinegar combo dish) .. This is the best restaurant we have been to in Red Deer, and I told our server this, and "warned" her that she is going to get sick of seeing us, we will be there often.
Aly
Amazing lunch!. Great food poor night time service. The service in the daytime during lunch is great and their lunch menu is fantastic! For lunch downtown, however, they do take their time (make sure you have 45 min-1 hr).
Amanda
Service was amazing prompt and on time ... When needed food took longer than most places however it was amazing when we finally received it. We ordered the stuffed chicked and the 8 oz sirloin both absolutely delish, small portions but with the bread to start we are most definetaly full ... I recommend coming back. We loved it.
Samantha
Awesome Food. I've been here numerous times, it is our family's go to for birthdays and celebrations. I don't believe we've ever had a bad meal here. On occasion we've encountered some sub par staff, but the food keeps us coming back. If you do nothing else in life, go there and try the black truffle ravioli. It will change you.
Onesius9
Been here a few times, it's decent, but nothing to write home about. The food is pretty good, however the service is not that great. Value is ok for the food. Ambience is lacking. I give it a 7/10

Worst dining experience! Extremely dissatisfied, I recently came to Casa with a bunch of friends for a birthday celebration - we liked it enough to bring our family here for my sister's birthday - how humiliating. It took way too long for our drinks to arrive, it took almost two hours before we received our food - we didn't even get any bread to tie us over. Our food was cold, our steak was over cooked - overall the food was mediocre - and the waiter was short and unhelpful. Because of this horribly long experience our entire night has been ruined. Oh lets add an incredibly high price tag plus the sub par food - I would honestly rather go to McDonalds - at least there I get what I pay for with friendly service. I will never return. My family agrees - and I will make sure everyone I know knows of this terrible disappointment. AVOID THIS PLACE.

Simply delicious. Good food and good service. Not much more you can say about this place

Went to celebrate my birthday here with some friends. The food and service were excellent!!

Best in Red Deer. I have no idea how this place would ever get a bad review. It is amazing and worth every dollar!

Such a great evening.. My boyfriend and I went for dinner last Friday to celebrate Valentines together. Aside from an initial mix up with our reservation (the online reply stated that we had the reservation, then went on to say they were booked completely which required me to call for clarification) the service was excellent. We were greeted promptly upon our arrival and seated at table 10 (which, I agree with a fellow poster, is a great romantic spot!) Our food was amazing, and the quality stood out. We had the Italian Breeze cocktails which were delicious, shared the risotto balls to start and I had the truffle penne while my boyfriend had the steak and lobster tail. We were too full for dessert but the food was fantastic. My only complaint would be I was disappointed to see customers coming in for dinner in ripped jeans, caps and hoodies. Considering this is such a nice restaurant it would be nice to have the dress code enforced a little more. Other than that though, we will definitely be returning for special occasions!

My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant, as it was recommended by many people to us as one of the best in Red Deer. I would describe it as fairly mediocre. First of all our prawn appetizer was over cooked and super rubbery. Our entrees were just average, mine was certainly underseasoned. We will likely be back to give it another try since it came so highly recommendedx but it wasn't fantastic.
Rob Oxford
Very nice. We wanted a late supper for 2 about 8pm. Hostess went to check availability and was very accommodating in finding an intimate table tucked away from the main tables. Our fare included Gamberetti Proscuitto (+1)-(very tasty. prawns + proscuitto (italian bacon essentially) was just the right amount of salt to awaken the palate) , Bruschetta (nice, maybe not the best date food but the acidity of the tomatoes cleared the palate quite well), Alla Salmone (a simple dish but well executed, she would most likely try something else next time for variety), and the Ravioli Con Tartufo (a savoury dish if somewhat indulgent- brandycream sauce and black truffles were reminiscent of a dish my grandmother used to make with wild mushrooms only with a smoother earthier taste). Our server was attentive, friendly yet not bothersome. In all, I would say it was the best dining experience I've had in Red Deer. The bill with martini's to start was ~$100 +gratuity which was less than I expected to pay, reviews that say overpriced are quite wrong.... fine dining is not about quantity (although we were very satisfied and left portions), it's about quality and ambience. That being said, I would recommend "strapping on the feedbag"(this is not Walmart re:-some reviews saying overpriced... you get what you pay for) elsewhere if that's what you are looking for. If you're an urban male looking to take your date somewhere intimate yet memorable I would say this is about the best I have found in Red Deer. I actually signed up to review this restaurant because I thought it was worth reviewing.
Eats Actual Italian Food
Please explain where you get that these dishes are Italian. Take me to some of these restaurants in Italy. Just because it is pasta does not mean it is Italian.
Jenny
Nice experience. This is my third time at La Casa Pergola and its always a nice experience. The service is always on point and the food always really tastey. Many of the reviews below complain about price, and yes, La Casa Pergola has fine dining prices. In my opinion, they ARE fine dining. The ambiance is intimate, and the ingredients such as truffle oil and lobster gargonzola sauce are things you can't get at East Side Marios if you want a $10 pasta dish. If you're looking for a casual dinner, this is not really the place. If you're celebrating a special anniversary or going on a romantic date, then I would suggest this is the place to go in Red Deer. Pay the money and enjoy the experience.
Chotchyredneck
Excellent if you like overpriced pasta and pompous attitude.
Jean-Marc
Unbelievable expeience. We have eaten in some fantastic places around the world and this deffinately hits the Top in that list. We gave the chef "Carte Blanche" and though the waitress did ruin the main course surprise be asking how we wanted our steaks done, she made up for it in the Wine Pairing she did for us. GREAT job and if you look closely next time you will see us as permanent fixtures there we loved it so much. 5 out of 5

I went there on a first date on April 2, 2011 and had a great time. The moment we walked in we were seated in a nice secluded section of the restaurant, the waitress was very attentive and my date and I throroughly enjoyed the experience. It was one of the most romantic dates I can ever remember being on. Sorry to those that had a bad experience, but mine was GREAT! ***** out of 5

Yummy!!. Last night was our first time at La Casa Pergola and I am so looking forward to going back again!! I love the atmosphere with candles and relaxing music what a great place. We had great help with our drinks and they turned out to be delicious our server was very friendly and always checking in with us. I would highly recommend the lobster fries...the portion was great to share...hot and fresh!! And if your looking for a good steak well the Alexander topped any steak I have ever had!! Over all I cant say enough good things about this place...friendly service and great food...what else do you really need!! Thanks La Casa!!

First and ONLY visit. After reading all the great reviews I decided to take my wife there for date night. What a mistake!!! Right from walking in we were not impressed at all. We had reservations, they didn't have a table ready (there were several empty but not set). The waitress was less than attentive, it took her approximately 10 minutes to even bring us a drink menu. We ordered the crab cakes appy, they were barely warm and extremely salty - not impressed. We decided to share entrees of a fettucine, prawns and lagostine with a cheese and cream sauce - the pasta was mush, prawns tasted boiled and lagostine was rubbery. The other entree was a chicken breast sauteed with mushrooms served with a white wine sauce - the chicken was very bland and chewy, the mushrooms were a mix of canned and fresh - again no flavor and the sauce...tasted like butter. The potatos that were served on the side were burnt and had been sitting in a warmer tray for quite a while - they were soggy.<br/>To top off the crappy food - the waitress finally made an appearance to check on meals AFTER my plate was empty (25+minutes).<br/>My wife then told the waitress everything that was wrong - and we were offered a free dessert - something else for them to screw up - we declined. The manager came over and told us that "They make their pasta fresh and that is how fresh pasta is" - we have had fresh pasta and it is nothing like that.<br/>After dinner both my wife and I were not feeling well - most likely cause would be MSG in the food as my wife is allergic to it and immediately got a headache and upset stomach.<br/><br/>To sum it up - very dissatisfied and will never be returning.

Best spot in red deer. I love going to La Casa it's my fav restaurant in town. The food is always amazing and the atmosphere is perfect for date nights. People who give this place bad reviews are either to picky or just like to complain.

YUMMY!!!. OMG<br/> My girlfriends and i went to La casa for apps....If you have not yet tried the lobster fries...They are AMAZING!!!! I also had there chicken sandwich for lunch great price and yummy. I have had really good service there as well, no complaints here. my husband and i will be back no questions asked! Thank you for being the best restraunt in red deer :)

Disappointing experience. We had the 'chef's special' 5 course dinner. It was a total ripoff at $90 PER person. The first 3 courses were 2 appetizers (one good, one totally bland) and a tiny salad. It seemed to us that the chef/kitchen was sending out all the items that people don't normally order or like. We were not permitted to make requests at all. When the waitress asked us how we wanted our entree meat cooked (and thus "spoiling" the big surprise that the restaurant insists upon) we informed her that it was a meat that we had never tried and really didn't think we would like it. We asked nicely for a switch - the meat obviously had not been prepared yet and therefore would not be wasted, but were informed that no switches were allowed. We pleaded with her, let her know that we would not be able to eat the meat but were again turned down. She then proceeded to serve us the entrees that she knew we would not eat or enjoy. This is HORRIBLE customer service!!! Why would a restaurant insist on serving us food we would not enjoy instead of just letting us switch? Why would they take our $90 per diner (there was 4 of us) and knowingly give us a bad experience rather than making a small allowance in entree selection? This makes no sense to us. Even though the entrees of the diners at the table next to us looked great, we have no intention of returning as we don't feel that they deserve our business or money. We realize that this won't shut the restaurant down but we'd just feel like suckers if we returned. We already feel like morons for paying almost $500 for a meal and going home hungry.<br/><br/>Also, at the start of the meal the waitress brought us the wrong bottle of wine. Luckily, the couple we were dining with noticed & informed her. However, she insisted that the bottle was the one we requested. We double checked the name on the menu, showed her it was different and had to almost insist that she bring us the correct one. Funny enough, the bottle she had brought us originally was $150 rather than the $50 bottle we had ordered.

Best Restaurant in Red Deer. My husband and I LOVE La Casa Pergola. When we think of eating out, we don't even have to decide what restaurant to go to. La Casa Pergola has the most fabulous Steak! WAY better than anything I have ever ate at the Keg. You can cut it with your fork and I LOVE the truffle sauce they put on the one steak I always order. My husband always orders the shrimp wrapped with the prosciutto bacon as an appetizer. They are to die for! The service at La Casa Pergola is second to none. We love the girls there and they are so knowledgeable with all the different wines they carry. (Awesome wine list) I can't imagine anyone having something bad to say about this restaurant. If you have not tried this restaurant you are missing out! I am making my mouth water as I write this. Better phone and get a reservation for tonight. HaHaHa

RIP OFF. The fettucine mathew was offered with lobster instead of scallops - when it arrived the 8 tiny specks of lobster were located. When the plate was cleared I stated that I was disappointed, she proceeded to wrap the leftovers. When I spoke to another woman she said it was "langostina - baby lobster" -- this term was never used before ordering - and seeing the result - this menu option should have been pulled or the missing scallops replaced with additional shrimp. I expected pieces of lobster the size of a scallop. also avoid the calimari - just fried batter and an inappropriate sauce

Last night my friends and I had the pleasure of dining at La Casa Pergola based on another friends reccomendation and what an evening it was. Apparently their tag line for the last few years has been "Red Deers Best Kept Secret" but I can't figure out how this place could be a secret for any amount of time and judging by the amount of people there it's no secret anymore. The ambience was second to none with their low lighting & candle lit tables, the great music added to the effect too. My friends and I were catered to like we were kings & queens with a meal the likes of which I haven't experienced other when in travelling in Europe. The sauces were to die for and my steak didn't even need a knife to cut it! They have a lot of unique items too, things you don't usually find around central Alberta. Finally I must mention the service we recieved which was a perfect blend of proffesionalism & personality! The young lady informed us on all of our questions, our wine needs, and some history on the restaurant and all while having by my count 4 other tables who all seemed very happy as well! The staff there really know what the words teamwork and customer service are all about! I've been living in Red Deer for a couple of years now and have dined at a couple other privately owned restaurants which were very nice indeed however after dining at La Casa Pergola last night I feel Ive found the best of the best in Red Deer! If you haven't been then do not wait any longer!! 5 stars in my book!

La Casa Pergola definitely made this dish shine. The batter was extremely light and airy while retaining a nice crispy exterior and moist interior. On top, it was packed with plenty of flavor – the salt was just right and really elevated the little fried pieces. I did find myself chasing some of the tomatoes as I grab each piece of calamari. However, I think it was because this meal was ordered during the winter season so despite the nice crunchy texture, the tomatoes lacked the sweetness that would have complimented the fried calamari. I did not touch the accompanied sour cream dip as it was a bit too savory. I prefer Tzatziki sauce because the acid tends to cut through the savoriness of the calamari. However, the calamari really stood out on its own and did not need any added sauce.

Oh La Casa Pergola... the great things I've heard about you. In High school my friend and I stopped by this little place and honestly I wasn't a big fan of their lunch menu... But I've heard from many locals that this is the place for great authentic italian food. When i mention my "Meh" previous experience, they tell me the dinner menu will be worth it. So a couple of us stopped by to check out this hidden away restaurant in downtown red deer and my reservations about this place prior were correct. Ordered the Calamari , personally I found it unappetizing and soggy. The sauce, I was told, base is sour cream and it was weak and tasteless... Never had tasteless sour cream. Wasn't a very special dish. I love calamari and find most restaurants make it a little too oily, it wasn't oily here... when i say soggy, i mean it was un crispy from maybe not being properly cooked or sitting there too long before it was brought out... I had the  Fettuccini Con Pollo , small portion for $17. And boy.
