Review Phil's Restaurant - Red Deer

Very good breakfast and generous serving sizes. I always give extra points when a place - such as this one - does ‘shredded’ hash browns. I went o. A Sunday so it was busy but we did not wait to long.

This place is Great! Simple foods done well! Staff was great 👍 And now has gluten free and dairy free options 🥳 definitely in the top 5 for places to eat breakfast in Red Deer.

Was in Red Deer for work but had a whole day off and decided to go here for breakfast, it was just down the block from my hotel and easily accessible. Was quite busy but I got a table right away. It's a neat place because it feels like your back in the 1950s or 60s. My server was very friendly, fast and attentive. The food was delicious and enough for me to have breakfast again the next day with my leftovers.

The restaurant isn't much too look at BUT the service and food completely make up for that. Candy(sp) was AMAZING!! She was funny, awesome, sweet and i honestly couldn't mask my disappointment when I heard she wasn't going to be our waitress. But the waitress we did have was sweet and prompt and very organized considering we were her first big table(there was 12 of us). Candy did come back several times to check on us and clear the table. Top notch service, the food was hot and delicious. I definitely will make a point to come back the next time i am in Red Deer.

Very good place for breakfast, food was amazing! Old-school experience (no fancy upgrades or changes to interior) which is great for reminding me of growing up in the 90s. Clean and decent size to accommodate large groups. Will visit again! The staff were all hardworking and nice.

This is my all time favourite brunch spot. Service is always prompt and direct. The eggs Benedict is my absolute favourite and I order it every-time. The food is always superb. It’s a little busier on the weekends, but I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes for a table. In my opinion, this is the best spot in red deer.

For twenty years I have been passing this place and always wondered what the service or food was like. Today my curiosities have been laid to rest as I had one of the best breakfast dining experiences of my life. This eatery puts others to shame with its warm service and hot scrumptious meals. I cannot wait to explore the lunch options at a further time, I know that I won't be disappointed.

The staff is amazing, they are truly wonderful people. This restaurant has been a part of Red Deer for decades. A few updates to the menu and the decor would definitely bring this icon of Red Deer into the 21st century. Sadly it has begun to show its age.

Great service and was very happy to see they offered a menu with small portions. Try the breakfast sausage as they are delicious and just the right size as well.

This place is classic. It's been here forever. It's the kind of place you go back and just have to order pork chubbies because of the name. The crepes are really good and the servers have always been nice.

Very good breakfast food! The Benedict's and breakfast quesadillas are delicious! The prices are reasonable and the service is good. Food always comes out reasonably quick, even when it's very busy.

Always great food! Love everything on the menu, and the staff are pretty great! The eggs benny is my personal fav, and I also really enjoy the beef chubbies. Great place!

I don't get it. I have tried them 3<br/>times and everyone raves about Phils. From the chubs to the paste that is the hollandaise- NOT REAL AT ALL, BUT BLAND AND ALMOST TRANSLUCENT. I don't go back. The service has always been good, despite the food being fast and borderline bad.

My only breakfast restaurant. I don't care what the other says, Phils always my choice !

Phil's is the best. Phil's restaurant has great food and service. My most favorite thing about going there is the friendly service. My most two favorite servers are Alyssa and Andrea thumbs up to them girls. The food is awesome my fav is the eggs Benedict cooked by the wonderful kitchen staff. All in all it's one of the best restaurants for breakfast,lunch and dinner in reddeer.

ALWAYS GOOD FOOD !. Had breakfast at Phil's restaurant. The food is consistently good for breakfast ,lunch or dinner. Lots of business and hotels surround Phil's. This is what leads to long wait times and folks get impatient. I always find that the thought of great food far outweighs the Sunday morning wait time.

Phil's was introduced to us by friends last year. We have been 3 times. The food has always been the same. Overpriced, poorly prepared (the hollandaise is wallpaper glue), but depending upon the server is pretty quick and accurate. The chubbies they sell are about the only in house item that I have eaten without immediate regret. Eggs. Ok. But, I can cook those at home. Pancake options are nice- buckwheat, gluten options, etc. I can't believe there is still a wait for this food on the weekend. Coffee is weak and a little gross. Won't be back by choice.

Uhh... They could honestly careless if we wanted to eat or not. Gave us our drinks and didn't even ask if were ready to order. Food on the menu either sounded disgusting or was so expensive for a small dish. Not much to offer. Never again

Used to be diner..... Went to Phil's as usual and won't be back. Not because of the service but because of the atmosphere and food. Our server (Lindy) was amazing and friendly and full of conversation. But the food was horrid. The sauce for the eggs benedict is getting worse everyday and the potato pancakes taste freezer burnt. The coffee was horrible as well. Some of the other staff including the Manager are extremely rude and have an "I don't care attitude" and there is alot of negative talk that is heard by diners coming from the kitchen and back. Not very appropriate at all! Except for our awesome server, the experience was awful!

Went on mothers day only a half hour wait food was decent and service was excellent

This place has redifined what disgusting food is all about. They've managed to bring it to a whole new low.

Waitress didn't seem to be paying attention. Waited 15 mins for the correct drink. And ran out of what I had ordered.

Martianne. My husband and i have been eating at phils about once a week for the past year. our last 2 visits were horrible.....the service was non existent and had to ask 3 times for our drinks both times. one was morning and tonight in a snow storm and there were only 3 other tables....our server spent all her time with the other 3 tables and after finally giving us our drinks after 3rd request never came back, not even to give us our bill. i had the special and when i paid the bill i was charged 60 cents more for something else on the menu. my food was cold when it came and am really disappointed,. This USED TO BE OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT. Our server was a little blonde who said her mind was not on her job and she kept forgetting to bring people their drinks all night..WHY? sure not because it was busy. She sure spent a lot of time talking with one other table and another server. Don't know if we will go back anymore. This is twice now at different times of day and days of the week and both times totally lousy service. Something has sure changed.

I visited Phil's last week with my grandmother and I was not impressed at all. Our service was about as great as our meals tasted; a 3/10. The server had no interest in giving good service and the food was very mediocre. I could've cooked better food. It bothers me that this restaurant got a GOLD rating for the Golden Fork Awards when you can go to Alberts Family Restaurant and get quality food that matches their quality service! I will not return. Highly disappointed!

Phil's is by far my favorite place to eat in Red Deer. How can you go wrong with a place that serves breakfast all day? The food is great, relatively cheap, and the service is excellent.

Hit and Miss on the food, coffee always bad. It seems to depend on when you go but the food is sometimes excellent and othertimes just horrible dried out garbage.<br/><br/>The coffee is too strong I get a glas sof water and water it down.<br/><br/>Service is very friendly but often slow.

Breakfast for lunch is ideal. Checked out Phil's while visiting a friend. Throughly enjoyed Phil's atmosphere, seemed very old school. I loved when I ordered a coffee, I got a personal pot for my table so I can re-fill as I desire. The eggs benedict was alight, the ham was ok, and the sauce was not what I was expecting, it had a very light colour to it..looked different than other hollandaise sauce I have seen. <br/><br/>Our server is good, she knew we didn't want to be bothered a lot, so came around minimally. But if that's her normal routine I can see that being too little service.

Read rave reviews. We read this is the #1 breakfast spot in Red Deer. We would have prefered somewhere else. Service was Ok at best,and it wasn't busy. I had the Chorizo Eggs Benedict, which had something they called "Hollandaise sauce" .It was a pale beige color but did have a bit of butter flavour.<br/><br/> The eggs were done exactly as I ordered them,and the shredded hashbrowns were good. Something on that plate made me run to the washroom about two hours later. I would have to blame the so called Hollandaise for that...<br/><br/>She had the corned beef hash. Again,it was OK at best...<br/> We are willing to give them another try,but would NOT order anything with the "Hollandaise"... No rush for us to return there....
