Gotta say I have never had a bad meal at Glenn's Family restaurant. It is a bit pricey however they do have specialty tea selections.. This is a well run spotless restaurant with a proven track record. Fast friendly service in a homey traditional atmosphere.
Glenn's has always been known as one of Red Deer's best employers with just about no staff turn over. Same staff forever, they remember you and are always happy to see you again.
PS, You can't go to Glenn's without stopping in at Cindy's Teapot Gallery next door.
I've driven by Glenn's hundreds of times without knowing they make gluten free. When I'm on the road I stop here for a gluten free breakfast Sammy and it has always been awesome!
A nice break. Stopped for brunch on the way to Calgary on an April 2014 road trip. An eclectic hodgepodge as far as decor goes but very clean and inviting. The waitress was very friendly and service was good. The breakfast buffet was pushed but did not look very appetizing so we opted for a turkey salad on 12 grain with onion rings on the side and a club sandwich with salad on the side. Both choices were tasty. Basic cooking done well. A wide selection of interesting teas. Worth a stop if you want a break from the highway.
Great food and service. Clean restaurant and nice bathrooms
Best breakfast experience in town. Favorite place to sit on the patio and enjoy some bacon and eggs, their patio is amazing and amplifies the eating experience. The service is extraordinary as well, always very nice ladies.
Nice place for a good meal with parents I always order the blueberry hill Monte looks strange but tastes wonderful and so many teas to try sometimes the wait staff rush you for drinks but all around good
Went here for the first time today and had a great lunch. Ordered the chicken quesadilla with a side salad and the vanilla chai mocha. Very pleased with both. The quesadilla was so thick with fillings I had to eat it with a fork (I'm usually a finger-foods eater)! Service was great too. No complaints.
Friendly environment and delicious food! I recommend the Clubhouse sandwich, or the Santa Fe Salad. They have a great selection of teas as well!
One of my favorite breakfast places ever!! Service is the best!!
Classic food for classy people. Ever been into a restaurant where everyone just loves the food they serve you? Where the waitress can look at one of several hundred types of tea they have and let you know that she enjoyed that blend, but she was more of an Earl Grey type? Where the deserts don't come from a box and the meals don't come from a bored 20-something lifer just waiting for their shift to end?
Glenn's is doing a lot of things right - don't be fooled by the laid-back diner atmosphere. They're worth every penny.
Decent Lunch. We happened to stop in here at the suggestion of a friend of ours when we asked about places of note on the way to Calgary. I have to say, it's a quirky little spot. The decor is a fusion of retro diner and old school fine dining, which is weird. I guess its a tea room too with lots to offer but hot tea wasn't on our mind on a hot June day after a few hours on the road.
Service was slow and our waitress was far too chatty for how busy the place was. We shot for a Club and Monte Cristo sandwiches. The club was good and made with real roasted turkey, which was a nice treat. The Monte Cristo was interesting; it was also incredibly rich, though we should have expected as much. The fries were done well and the side salad wasn't too shabby. Overall the food wasn't bad but the bill was a little pricey. At $15 a sandwich with drinks, lunch rolled in at almost $40. that said we did get another meal, well a snack really, out of the sandwich left overs.
Over all, everything was okay. We may stop by again but it's not a must go destination.
I loved this place so much, I nearly vowed id never eat out anywhere but here. Staff were awesome, tea selection and presentation and quality were insane! Real loose tea, too! Had pie and every bite I was like, oh man... this is unreal. Plus, its comfy old booths. Youre thinking about going here? Go!
Had a great cup of tea Alison was fantastic server very prompt pleasant and friendly. Will definatly be returning on the way home from Edmonton;)
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Whenever we drive by Red deer we stop for a cup of great tea and excellent foot. The place is very cozy with nice patio. Service is fast. We had a fruit crape today and it was the most packed with fresh fruit crape we had ever had. We even forgot about the syrup on the table, it simply didn't ask for it. If you like tea or are interested in expanding your taste buds beyond coffee, Glenn's has very extensive verity of Good tea.
Best brecky in red deer, large portions and fantastic coffee
A road trip comfort. I get a bit tired of Timmy's on the road. It's what I eat for breakfast & lunch when I head to certain remote (ish) places for my work, so while I do enjoy their oatmeal (a lot, actually), and their sandwiches fill a hole in my belly, I just get tired of the same old. I therefore stopped at Glenn's for the first time on my way back from Edmonton.
Set in a homey clean 'diner-ish'/family restaurant dining room, the friendly waitress took my order for a Monte Cristo with perogies and a honey rooibos tea. My sandwich was hearty, warm, and had nice slices of chicken (or turkey) breast - not cold cuts! The cheese was good (though if I made this at home, I'd go with my beloved smoked gouda). The dressing (Thousand Island?) was also just right; enough to taste it and yet not so much it's sloppy. The perogies were very tasty (not being Ukrainian, I suppose this only holds so much water). They were mainly boiled and finished off in a frying pan (yum!) with bacon, onions and sour cream n' chives on the side. My tea was also lovely and came in a very generous teapot. The waitress was nice enough to offer me a 'to go' cup so I could take the rest with me.
I'll surely stop by again on my road trips (when I don't cave in to the Baron cravings :P).
Every time I come, I have never experienced a dissappointment. Their vanilla chai mocha is to die for. Whether you are travelling through or just in the area, it's definately a place to place on your list of great restraunts
With many trips down to Calgary over the years, we usually stop in Gasoline Alley to fuel up both the car as well as ourselves. Its grown over the years to more than just a handful of fast food joints... and Glenn's Family Restaurant is practically an historic venue being around at least 30years ago. With its characteristic teapot right beside the Donut Mill's windmill, its hard to miss and you don't want to miss out on their tasty sandwiches, soups and huge selection of 200 teas. Service is polite and quick - they know most folks are stopping in for a quick bite and then either head to north up to Edmonton and beyond or down south to Calgary and beyond, but neither do they rush you if it looks like you're happy to sit back, take a breather and enjoy your steaming cuppa tea. Its family friendly and coffee is on the house. I had a delicious cup of Ginger Pieces tea with some honey (no pic, sorry I forgot) which is served in a big teapot... ask for to go cup if you're in a rush as t
