Review Original Joe's - Red Deer

I stopped in for a late lunch, I was greeted immediately with a warm professional smile, and direction to find a table that's make me feel comfortable. My Servers name was Serena, she is the dream server, exceeded expectations in every single aspect of my lunch. With the highest level of professionalism she was able to make each person feel like their experience was important to her. Sometimes in 2022 service has slipped, I want to make sure that you don't think my comments are based on a good server compared to the decline. My comments are based on wanting to give someone 100% tip. While I was writing this, her interactions with a coworker, made me want to include it. A natural normal work conversation, but she included compliments with enthusiasm. If you are ever near Red Deer, I would recommend stopping by to see Serena. I promise she will renew your faith in humanity like she did to mine.

We were served today by Serena. Despite her being extremely busy, she was kind, attentive, and fast! The food came out hot, in a timely manner. She was very personable with our son and gave him a sticker as well. We really appreciated our experience today! Thanks so much to everyone at Ojs. We will be back :)

I’ve never felt so awkward in a place. I was enjoying a conversation with my spouse when my bill was handed over my shoulder, food taken and without a word the server was gone. I was in shock since I did not request my bill or food to be take away… that I couldn’t even get my words out. Unfortunately we had the same experience with the service weeks ago. I used to love OJs years ago. Good people, big portions, reliable… circa 2007.

Me and my husband went twice. It was great food. Just server often forgot what we asked like extra plate or more napkins or hot sauce and stuff. It happened twice. Wish if they can focus on us since it was only 2-3 table filled and quite night.

Drinks were great, food was not. Was excited to try out their gluten free vegan food. Server wasn't knowledgeable on menu items. When food was brought out they said here's the "vegan gluten free xx" and proceeded to place gluten/cheese/chicken/bacon infront of us. We won't be coming back.

Service was good, but when getting my food order there were lots of mistakes along with my take out order. For example I asked for no pickles, and there were pickles. I asked for dill dip, got no dill dip. Along with the food not being hot. Been going here for a while not sure why they can’t figure it out. Seems when they get to many groups they can’t handle it in the kitchen.

The place was a bit loud but understandable, as it was lunch hour and St. Paddy's day. The green beer was good and the onion rings/dip were very tasty. I will visit again in the near future.

A family of five visiting from the UK, we stopped at Original Joe's in Red Deer for a break on our road trip from Edmonton to Calgary. The service was excellent, with a friendly helpful server, and the food was really quite lovely. We didn't even realise it was a chain restaurant until later on. Highly recommend.

Atmosphere was ok other than the door to the outside being open and it got cold inside. My steak sandwich was over cooked and really dry, the bread was just bland. The fries and dill dip was great. My husbands grilled cheese burger was excellent. The server was just ok, refills took a while and she wasn't overly happy. We will come again for sure.

I have been to this restaurant more times than I can count, and for a good reason! Besides the delicious food and drinks (very interesting and delicious drink menu, that inspired me to chose their establishment as the place to celebrate my 18th birthday), the customer service is exemplary. I have never had a bad experience, and I've been there well over 50 times. That's pretty impressive! would recommend to all, family friends and newcomers alike!

Unfortunately, my evening catching up with friends turned sour due to the poor customer service at this establishment. After a couple of common accidents that go on at a restaurant (ex. spilling water or dropping cutlery), we were accused of calling one of our waitresses a name by another waitress. After we had giggled over how many accidents had happened (since they were only happening to our one friend), we were then mocked by one of the waitresses as she was passing by with a tray of drinks. This was not something that could be misunderstood, it was a deliberate mocking where she threw her head back and did a fake snarl laugh at us. My friends and I could not believe what we were seeing. After speaking to the manager, we were even more disappointed. When someone comes to the management with a genuine concern, then I believe it is expected to hear "This is what I am going to do", not "What do you want me to do about it?". I did not like having to explain ourselves to the manager, especially since we had not called any of the waitresses names, nor did we even make a complaint about any of the accidents that had happened. After she had stumbled, and asked what we wanted, she kept repeating that she was not sure what to do. The girl who had the water spilled on, suggested that we could receive an apology from the waitress who had done the mockery laugh. We never caught her name, but she was a tall girl, with long black hair and tattoos down her arm. Apparently, we had "just missed her" for the night, so no apology there. We did finally receive an apology from the manager, and she offered free shots; which didn't work since we were all driving home. At that point, an offer to comp any of our other food items or drinks would have sufficed. Not that we were fishing for free food, but the gesture would have made our opinions a little less sour. I completely understand that when it is so busy, there will be longer wait times. But we waited an hour from the time we received our food, until someone came by to see how we were doing, or if we needed another drink. Our only positive experience was our original waitress, Serena. She was a delight to have, and although she was slammed, she was always a delight to deal with. Not sure how this can be dealt with from higher up, but I know that if it were my business, I would not be impressed to hear how my customers were being treated. I choose Original Joe's any time I can in many different cities, but I don't think I will be returning to this establishment again.

Original joes has been my first choice when going for a drink and dinner in red deer for a few years now. The staff have become less servers and more like friends over the years. Whether it's sitting at the bar and chatting with the awesome bar staff or getting together with a group of friends no place will ever quite be as good as OJs. Excellent experience every time!

How could you say anything bad about ojs! I have been going there for quite a few years now and I have never had anything bad to say. Great staff always willing to help in any way they can! The food is always exceeding my expectations! All in all it is just a place to go for any and all social gatherings.

I was there last night and as always, it was fabulous. They have the nicest wait staff there. My husband & I are regulars, the food is consistently fantastic every time we go. I love their salt & vinegar wings, hard to find those anywhere else. �

Very disappointed Went for my birthday supper Wasn’t offered anything Would have went somewhere else. The fish tacos were mediocre no taste at all Won’t go back.

I used to work for original joes and even though I'm not with this company anymore, I still sometimes get the staff discount! These people are like family to me and I always enjoy my time here! It's my go to for sure when I want a casual drink. And it should be yours too! Shout out to all the serving and bartending staff there! I love you all!!

Original Joe's has been an establishment I have known of, went to, and trusted for years. This specific one happens to be my favorite. Friendly and professional staff. Great food!

I'd give it zero stars, but that's not allowed. There's been a few times now where it's been steady but not overly busy, and after being seated I've waited for upwards of twenty minutes without anyone coming to even take my drink order. There's an old joke about bad service, "I can't complain about the service because there was none." In this case however, that's quite literal.

Excellent, great service and prices. We often go there Sunday mornings for the second to none, eggs Benedict.

Worst service EVER!! Came here for lunch. Waited 45 min for our food to show up and watched numerous tables that came in after us get their food first. Waitress never came over to explain the situation at all. Manager eventually came over to tell us that the salad bar was backed up. Funny that we saw lots of other salads being served. Will never be back or recommend this location!!

Outstanding food!!! And the staff was awesome... I'll be going back.
