Went to the Occidental for lunch. On the owner's suggestion, we had a (locally sourced) burger - delicious, along with a craft beer. The food was great, service was friendly, and prices were good.
As well, you get a great view of the pedestrian bridge over the river.
Best place to have really good entertainment and delicious food at the same time. Come for the food and good service and stay for the music. Great artists from across whole Canada and the food is delicious too. Follow them on Facebook to stay tuned with their events.
The hotel is very popular at lunch time with families with young children. This is the cities most popular live music venue.
The hotel is very supportive of local talent as well as popular acts from around B.C.
One of the newer offerings is a mussels dish. This has a very tasty broth.
The seating
7pm on a Monday was quiet. Prompt service from the fellow running the bar. Barkerville Brewery on tap. I ordered the jalapeño burger based on numerous recommendations from friends and was not disappointed. They use local beef here and it was prepared to perfection. This restaurant is more of a cabar
The food was amazing and so hot!! The service was 10/10. Amazing and nothing but good stuff to say. Will 100% be returning to eat again. Thanks guys

Extremely tender and flavorful ribs, smoked beans were very rich and had an awesome bite, cloeslaw nice flavors, cornbread with flecks of jalapeno nice flavors nice and moist, chip
Went for a Concert and had a table by the the Smoking pit so we froze all night as the door was opened constantly. The singer couldn't be understood were we were sitting but the band and the backup singers sounded good. The food was really good especially those Cauliflower thingys they serve.
Classic pub food and it was delicious. They had to close early though as they're so short staffed. But I'd totally go back.
