Reviews Sushi Star Japanese Restaurant

I don't quite understand the ratings that have been received. Coming from the coast, this is one of the only two Japanese restaurants I will visit. I have found the sushi to be authentic and fresh and servers to be attentive and friendly (not like at some of the other places I've come across).
While the food can sometimes arrive slow when having All You Can Eat, I have not found it to come any slower than at many of the more popular restaurants in town. I've found hairs in my food at similar restaurants, but have not found myself sick from eating here. It is hands down, one of the two best Japanese food joints in PG... Sendo being the other when they still offered variety.

Love it. We live about 7 hours out of Prince George but have travelled extensively. I had the best meal in recent memory at the Sushi Star. The Selection was great, the dishes were fantastic and the service was prompt and full of smiles. On top of all that the price was very reasonable. Prince George is very lucky to have the Sushi Star. Best deal is all you can eat lunch thats about $7 less than cost of Dinner, just missing a few of the items that are only available for Dinner. Every time we visit Prince George our first meal is Sushi Star.

Good food, good selection, but bad service. I've been to enough all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants and honestly I really liked the food here. The service was at times slow but people should realize that that's often the kind of service you have to expect at AYCE sushi places (the exception with this place was that the server was clearly untrained and it wasn't remotely busy, so shame on them, but if you're craving AYCE sushi you'll get your fill here).

Excellent sashimi. Good good food. Only thing not good is spicy sashimi. But I'm just not a fan of mayo based spicy sauce. Service is hit and miss but its worth it. All u can eat that is tasty.

Best Sushi in Prince George hands down, once you get it. The sushi is great, fresh and good bang for your buck.
I have been twice and alwasy really enjoyed the food.
The service is hit and miss and the menu style is slightly confusing, but don't let that turn you away. People rave about Wasabi Sushi but this is way better!

Decent eat all you can sushi. Prince George have now has an eat all you can sushi restaurant. Price wise it is not too bad, it is a few dollars (approximately 17 dollars for weekend lunch) more than at similar restaurant I've eaten in larger cities(and in similar sized cities). The sushi is good, well made and the flavors authentic to what I expect. The kitchen was a disappointment, the tempura shrimp was not all that great, the pork cutlet had an odd aftertaste, and the orange peel chicken was overcooked. The menu selection for the eat all you can is limited (at least to what I've been used to eating), especially if you consider the higher cost. The atmosphere is nice. The service is not that great, at time I found it hard to get their attention (although the food came quickly and efficiently). Everything being said I can say without hesitation this is the best eat all you can sushi in Prince George, sadly this doesn't say much as it is the only eat all you can sushi in town. Overall, the experience is moderate in comparison to similar type restaurant I've eaten at before.

Went in for lunch last week. I heard it was a new all you can eat sushi place, so thought we would try it out. Decent price for all you can eat. They bring you a picture menu with all the items, and a sheet/checklist for what you want to order. There were some items on the picture menu which werent on their checklist. The rolls were great though. Yam roll was def the best! Chicken teriyaki was disappointing, which was like 5 tiny strips of white chicken with some Teriyaki sauce poured over top. It was bland and tough. The decor is really cute and there are paper umbrellas hanging everywhere. The booth seating was hard and wooden with sad lumpy cushions. But the food was good! Service was good as well.
