Review Twisted Cork - Prince George

Karissa Nicole
Wow! What a pleasant surprise for PG! The design and decor is really quite cool. The food servings, huge! Very well presented. I had the Caesar Salad and it has a nice light dressing. Family members had the roast, eggplant parm, bruschetta, and everyone loved their meals. White Sangria is good and worth trying. Our server was Samantha and she was excellent. Highly recommend you try the cheesecake!

This place is hit or miss. Went on a Saturday evening (walk in) and there were only 2 other tables with people. The special was roast beef dinner. My hubby ordered that and when it came to the table the entire plate was swimming in gravey. It looked very unappealing. Meat was so tough and fatty he couldn't eat it and, believe me, he never leaves meat on his plate because I rarely make it at home. Lol We sent it back and they took it off our bill. Only to find out 3 other people complained as well. I also saw 2 French Onion Soups get sent back to the kitchen. I ordered the Bruchetta and it was okay. The bread should have been toasted but wasn't. I also ordered the Mango salad. It was good but should have asked for dressing on the side. We shared the Churrios for dessert and they were very good. The service was AWESOME and I felt sorry for the servers having to run interference for the poor quality food coming from the kitchen. They are going to have to step up there food game if they want to remain open.

For the price it was not as good as we expected. My wife thought they put too much gravy on her roast beef, drowning the whole plate. Nevertheless, the service by the waitress was friendly and quite good.

We love the twisted cork. Always great food and amazing service. We continue to choose the twisted cork for our date night and when we have company visiting from out of town. Always make a reservation as the locals know its the best in town! Prime rib is always delicious. We recommend the sage derby cheese and maple cheddar for the tapas board.

A fantastic place in PG. Great food, great service!!! If I am ever back in PG, I will definitely be back here.

My husband and I went yesterday evening for dinner. Everything from the food to the atmosphere was amazing. He had the scallops to start and the lobster stuffed chicken, I had the deep fried pickles and roast beef dinner. Portions of the roast beef were massive, extremely tender, and down right delicious. Many compliments to the chef but I had to take most of it home! Best crème brulee I've ever had. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could! Thank you so much for making our evening wonderful!!

I took my wife here for a surprise date. She’s celiac, so we needed gluten free options, and the restaurant was able to accommodate us. The food was delicious! The whiskey was perfect! The service was awesome! Overall it was a bit pricey, but we had a great experience

The menu on their website is not what's offered at the restaurant. For a restaurant that advertises being a tapas place there were very few tapas options. The appetizer we ordered was very good. Entree options were also very limited. Not a good place for picky eaters or vegetarians/vegans. I ordered the schnitzel and it was quite greasy and tough. The potatoes that came with it were advertised as mashed but were more like plain boiled baby potatoes just smashed with a fork. The seasonal vegetables were very undercooked. The service was slow but friendly. Overall I don't recommend going here. It's not as good as it used to be.

This was our second time eating here and it was fantastic. The lamb was cooked to perfection and very tasty. My son and I shared the bbq grill platter, it was enough to fill two grown men. It is a bit pricey but with the 2 tapas boards, 4 meals and drink it was just a bit over $200. The staff was as good as the food, always asking if we needed anything and prompt with clearing the table. The Twisted Cork is our new place for dinner when we are in town.

Typically a great place, but I recently took my Dad there for lunch and we left after receiving nothing but water after 45 minutes. The couple at the table across from us had been there nearly an hour, and received an empty apology and a caution that their food wouldn't be there for at least a substantial amount of time (apparently a table of 20 had come in just prior and were taking up all the restaurant's resources). When we tried to let the server know that we were also taking our leave she blew past us without acknowledgement. Been here many times and the food and service have always been good, but it will be a while before I come back here again. Update: So after discussing with the understanding staff here, I finally got back here with my wife and we had a wonderful lunch today. Excellent food: elk burger and onion rings for myself, cauliflower soup and turkey club croissant for her. The service was fast and friendly and we got a nice warm seat next to the new gas fireplace that was very cozy. Much appreciation for making up for the mistake from earlier this summer!

If I only get to Prince George once a year, this is where my wife and I come for a date night. The Prime Rib special is great, and we really enjoy the white wine sangria made in house. Every time we manage to get here, the food is really good, and the service is better than most places. Was there last night and we had made a reservation for 7:00 that evening. We showed up early for our reservation and the service and food preparation was so efficient that we had finished our prime rib specials and deserts before 7:30! Excellent food and service that night.

The only reason I didn't rate a 5; I would have preferred that the company at our table receive their prime rib served on the plate beside the mashed potatoes...the potatoes became blood soaked :( Otherwise, the whole experience was amazing!
David Reece
well where else are you going to get the best food in the world??? No where!!!!! Five gold stars!!!!!!!!

We were a party of 9 last night celebrating my birthday. They have quite an extensive menu with a few unusual entrees such as sturgeon. We all had different entrees and appies and were all delighted with our choices. The food was fantastic and the presentation lovely. Now the desserts they were something to die for. Our waitress was great, nice friendly manner and very efficient. If you have not been to this restaurant you are missing out on something special. 'FANTASTIC'. Thanks Chef Angus, it was a great night.

Hubby and I went to celebrate valentines tonight. Not much of a food selection and VERY expensive! The entrance was very misleading also. You open doors to enter a very dark foyer and then figure out which door to get to the restaurant. The atmosphere was great but with the lack of menu and service (waitress was more focused on larger tables around us) we won’t be back. Very disappointing.

My sister Jenna and her husband had their wedding reception here. The space was perfect for her vintage theme. The food was delicious and the staff were amazing! I highly recommend it for a small wedding.

Never bad service, food is perfectly made each time and the decor is to die for. Thank you for such fantastic nights you are my #1 for recommendations! Shoutout to the lovely waitresses, hostesses, bartender, and kitchen staff

Arrived for a reservation at 6 and ordered the two specials. After waiting 40 minutes the food was still not ready. When we asked the waitress if it was coming anytime soon she told us the chicken takes 20 minutes to cook so it would still be at least another 10 minutes for our orders. We decided to leave at that point, as we had to be elsewhere for 7:30. The place was not at all packed, not even half full of people.
Randy Wevers
They had a fantastic special of, prime rib with a gargantuan, yorkshire pudding, garlic mashed potatoes, gravy and mixed veggies for around $27. I can usually pack the food away but, we all had the 8oz. which I barely finished. It was AWESOME and the service was great.....and of course, no other restaurant has that cool, medieval vibe.

This place was fantastic! I had a problem with my order and the waitress Stacey was so nice and accommodating! And after that little problem was fixed the food was great!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND and ask for Stacey! She's great.

Love this restaurant. My husband and I discovered it a couple years ago and it is still our favourite restaurant to bring out of town guests or to enjoy a delicious date night just the two of us. The white wine sangria is amazing. I always recommend making reservations. But if you didn't and happen to be offered a seat at the bar, take it ! Can't wait for our date this evening.

Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Service is great and food is excellent. I try to go there every time I visit Prince George. Definitely 5

A huge thank you to The Twisted Cork for helping us with the vegetarian option served at the brisket fundraiser for the Prendergast family. Your generous donation helped us raise $1952.00 !! Thank you from the staff at FLNRO and MOE !!

Awesome place! Love the atmosphere and service. The chicken with the ribs was perfection.

Excellent food and dinner service. Had the halibut special and it was amazing and everything else at the table looked amazing too. I would definitly go back.

Been several times for both lunch and dinner. Have never had an issue with our lunch food or service. However we have yet to have a good dinner there, Will be back to try dinner again.
Anita.adlam.aa
Phenomenal food. Horrendous service... it was a weeknight, but despite that we waited an hour (!!!!) for our entree!!!!!<br/>Really disappointing.

Prices on their website are not the same as what they charge. I don't care if that's not intentional that is poor service to charge more than what is being advertised on their website, especially when they are overpriced already.

If you're rich, you'll probably enjoy it here. The decor is lovely and the way they serve the water is pretty cool. The salmon was good... but that's about it. The rice bed was disgusting, but then again, I'm not a fan of corn and it was kinda inescapable. Veggies were fine. The poutine our table shared to start was good, but I'm not gonna go to a fancy, expensive restaurant just for poutine. Portion sizes were alright. I go out for dinner to eat, to feel full and to get my money's worth. I don't care that much about appearance. Service was good. We will not be back, though.

Andy and Kyla Wedding reception May 2015. Thank you Nat and Staff for the great help prior to the wedding of our daughter and for making it so easy to pick up our things the next day. The food was fabulous. We had many positive comments from our guests. The girls did a great job of keeping our guests happy. Highly recommend The Twisted Cork.

Worth the price, especially on Fridays!. As someone who eats out a lot but doesn't make much money I tend to be a value-follower, so if I'm going to spend $20+ on a dish it needs to be good. I can heartily say that Twisted Cork is worth the money. The menu is on the classier end of the Prince George spectrum (they have duck!) but still down-to-earth enough for the blue collar set. High points on the menu include the Guinness bison pie (probably the best value on the menu) and the Brome Lake duck, which makes up for in flavour what it lacks in size. However, the must-have dish at Twisted Cork is the prime rib, their Friday-only special. I literally drool every time the heaping plate of prime rib and Yorkshire pudding with potatoes and vegetables arrives in front of me. Drink options are almost unbeatable in PG (there might be one other place you can find Talisker on the scotch list) and there is almost always a great on tap. Desserts are worth saving some space for, too. Critically, I have never had bad service, which makes it easy to recommend The Twisted Cork for a great night out.

Nice resturaunt bad service. Slow service expensive menu for what you get.. They even forgot about a meal my friends son ordered...
Mr. PG
Not bad, but slow. Dinner for 3 January 2014 on a Monday night; quite busy, perhaps more than they expected. Food was good (and some exceptional entrees: buffalo steak pie, cassolet, for example) but service was (unacceptably, given the prices) slow. Server forgot part of my order: WRITE IT DOWN!! Why do servers perform the trick of "remembering" all the order, then forgetting parts?<br/>Nice ambience, good food, but definitely should address service (or speed in the kitchen, I suppose).

DISGUSTING. WORST SERVICE EVER. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Will never go back. Served my aunt and gramma prime rib from the weekend, and told us if we wanted fresh food to please come back on a Friday or Saturday! And this was told to us by the person in the next position below the manager. Absolutely disgusted! <br/><br/> My moms soup was cold, my chicken fingers were clearly previously frozen and our tomato basil salad was exactly that...Just baby tomatoes (whole) with basil and mint on them. <br/><br/>Waitress was extremely snotty to us and we could hear her complaining about us to the Chef in the kitchen. She was only at our table to bring us our food and then once more when she was flagged down for refills.<br/><br/> It was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Better service and food at McDonalds!

Fabulous lunch!. Amazing food, great service and great ambiance. Never disappointed. Sat by the fire and enjoyed it so much!

Not impressed. Service was horrible, food under seasoned, what more can I say?
Sandra Rosset
TERRIBLE service. It was so bad we didn't even stay to eat... The menu looked good but we were immediately turned off by the very rude waitress.

Tapas tower, Irish spring rolls, meatball tapas all excellent. Nice ambience.

Iam a foodie from Calgary! You can boast a top ten at the Cork. Staff , entertainment , food and the Chefs attention to everyplace leaving the window! God for you PG you have a real gem!!

Appy, dinner, dessert and the service were excellent!! Asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and grilled was to die for!!!

Pretty good. I really loved the atmosphere and decor. We went for a late lunch so it was pretty quiet. The service was decent and food was good.
Oly
Bison pie. Best part of the meal was when it showed up, turns out to be thin stew with puff pastry. The back ground music was a radio station. If you want to hit the middle upper market in town, the owners better get down there and do some managing

Why people?. Why are people so hard on restaurants? Especially if you like to go out to eat? We don't bash retail stores like this? If you want cheap food go to a family style restaurant. If you want amazing salmon go to Vancouver. If you want lots of tv's go to a future shop.<br/><br/>I have been to the Twisted Cork twice. Love the cheese boards and the beer taps.

Wonderful meal great service! Just stopped in on a Friday when my first Dining choice was full. Seated without reservations and although the table was small was adequate. Companion had prime rib and enjoyed it thoroughly! I had 12oz rib eye (don't judge lol) with chimichurri, grilled veggies and was very happy with quality and flavors. The appies were good as well scallops were great...didn't care for the coating on the crab cakes but they were still good. I really enjoyed my experience here, and would go again without hesitation.<br/><br/><br/>-----22 Dec, 2012-----<br/><br/>Service was EXCELLENT!! Which is really the only thing that boosted my review of pretty average food. Don't get me wrong, it was very good for PG but salmon was over cooked. Veggies were not cooked enough (and cold) but still very edible. My partner had prime rib which was very good but his sides were cold as well =(<br/>We will give the place another chance for sure as the service was great

Couples retreat. My boyfriend and I love going to the Twisted Cork for its unusual selection of beer and their fresh entrees. Every time we go, we have tried something different and are never disappointed.
Waleed Doulab
Not bad. Good but OVERPRICED for what u get.

You have to go here. I loved the twisted cork there duck was unreal the restaurant is so relaxing and calming the only complaints i have about the twisted cork was the small entree sizes and the prince was alittle on the expensive size

Spot on!. Have been going to the Cork since it opened and every time I go there the service and food are excellent. Great place to go for a couple drinks to dining in large groups.
Mr.cj
Good food!. Went there for a Christmas Party and the prime rib was amazing. It was a wonderful dinner and we plan on going there for our anniversary.
SimplyBelle
Prosciutto wrapped Asparagus. Absolutely amazing, I just wanted to skip the entree, and have another plate.

My fav. I have to say that as a person with a very serious milk allergy and gluten allergy, it is so fantastic to be able to eat at a restaurant and feel safe. The food is fantastic and the ambiance and decor are something different from the norm of PG. I love that they have goat cheese, not like at Earl's where it says goat cheese but it's really half goat and half cow. It's a great place to eat if you have dairy or gluten allergies.
Galianoboy
Overrated. We've been to the Cork three or four times and have been disappointed each and every time. From cold meals, to warm beer, to frozen cheesecake to bad service, this place has it all. We live downtown and should be regulars, but after so many bad experiences, we've stopped going back.<br/><br/>In fairness, the atmosphere is great and they have a wide selection of beer. It's fun when there's live music.<br/><br/>I really hope they improve, because there's a lot of potential, and PG needs places like this downtown.
Ben Berland
An awesome meal for a very reasonable price. We had a great dinner with great food and even better service. It's nice to go to a restaurant where they honestly appreciate your business!

Gourmet Quality Food at Resturant Prices !. Where do i Start....<br/><br/>* Free WiFi internet ( bonus points )<br/>* Spotless clean cutlery with cloth napkins<br/>* A Bartender / Manager who is trained to pour a proper Guinness beer from their Certified Guinness dispenser complete with the Shamrock imprint on the head of your beer who is also very familiar with their selection of BC made microbrews that they offer as well as their fine collection of spirits and wine.<br/><br/>* 4 star quality food ( seriously ) for what you would pay at any chain restaurant in town,<br/><br/>* the atmosphere inside has a wooden library in some expensive mansion feel to it, perfect restaurant to bring a first date and walk away saying " wow the food was soooo good we have to go back some time "<br/><br/>* I can't say enough about the FOOD !<br/>* Make sure you call ahead for dinner reservations as this place is known to be very popular at night time.
