An intimate Italian restaurant in the heart of old Port Moody. Very generous servings and really delicious food. My friend ordered ribs and it was Fred Flinstone sized. The pasta tasted like authentic Italian food made from scratch. They offered us dessert (cheesecake) and wine on the house because my friend is a regular.. very delicious and gracious of them. The owners are excellent hosts and they talk to each table. It is family oriented. The restaurant is quaint and intimate and I don’t think it seats more than 50 people so you should try to get in before 5pm if you want to be seated for dinner time.
The restaurant is located in the old part of Port Moody and unfortunately, parking can be challenging but it depends on what time of day.
Key takeaways:
- come here when you're hungry
- arrive early (between 4 - 4:30pm) if you want to be seated for dinner time
- get ready to have some take-home
- order their cheesecake cuz that's what Rosa is known for
- parking is tough so be prepared to park up to 2 blocks away..
Yummy food! Large portions for a decent price. The tiramisu is amazing!!!! The staff treat each customer like family and will fill you’re wine glasses to the rim lol! Although the restaurant itself is so small it’s pretty uncomfortable.
Some friends took us here as it is their go to for Italian cuisine and boy was it a good recommendation. A hidden gem!
The only downside about the place is that it is small but everything else about it is spectacular. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. The owner was very attentive making sure we were well taken care of and even had a few conversations with us.. shes also very funny! She also recommended a great bottle of moscato that I am trying to find!!
Go early or expect to line up!!

My only let down for this place is the size. They are very popular and serve delicious food. I ordered a Caesar salad and the spaghetti and meatballs and my husband ordered the Ana salad and spaghetti and sausage. We were SOOOOOOO pleased with our meals, they were absolutely devine! We also got the homemade tiramisu and lordy it was heaven.
I intend to go there again and quite possibly make that a regular spot. I want to take my family there so they can enjoy it as well.
They were amazing there, coming to check on us, making sure we liked the food, refreshing our drinks and everything. I do not understand the negative reviews at all!
Did we eat at the same place? Rosa's Rocks!. Before writing this I scanned all the recent negative reviews and I am confused. This place rocked it. Super friendly and quick service. Giant portions. And, most importantly, great food. Had the giant meatballs as an appetizer. They were enough for a main, and the red sauce they were in was amazing. Wife had ribs for dinner and they brought out the biggest rack I had ever seen served in a restaurant. And, again, very tasty. I had chicken parmegiana and it was great. Maybe too much, but I took the remainder home. Finally, my wife, who fancies herself the Queen of the Cheesecakes, had what she said was the best cheesecake (other than her own) that she had ever eaten. I don't understand the spate of negative reviews below. Makes on sense to me.
Almost a neighborhood gem.... Rosa's food is superb! The pasta here is some of the freshest I've ever had in a restaurant. Both times I have come here I've gotten the gnocchi. Portions are huge and (in my opinion) fairly priced for the area and the cuisine. As much as I LOVE this restaurant, there is a BUT... the restaurant is TINY. Not tiny as in cozy, tiny as in cramped. If that was the only issue, I could get over it. It gives a nice a neighbor, hole-in-the-wall kind of feel. However, because it is so tiny, Rosa's does not take reservations. Period. Last time I went with my party of 6, they would not even move empty tables or move 2 person parties sitting at a table meant for 6 to accommodate us. So my party and I walked around the area for about an hour. It wasn't deal breaker for us, but I was a little annoyed. I can understand how this policy turns so many others away. As I said, it's a tiny restaurant, so while you wait for a table you will be sitting on the bench outside or in your car (depending on the season). Trust me, you WILL be waiting because this restaurant is always packed. For all it's faults, it still has personality and charm. And yes, I do plan on returning for dinner here. So, if you don't mind a bit of a wait for some of the best italian food you've ever had in your life, I would definitely recommend Rosa's! My advice to Rosa and staff would be to move to a bigger restaurant!!!
Excellent food, heaping portions, and good service. I'd recommend this place to anyone hungry:)
Excellent food and service. Be prepared to wait or go early.
Highly recommended.
I loved it! Those other guy.... I loved it!
Those other guys are smoking something!
My baby backs were melt in your mouth and flavorful!
Service was exemplary!
Rosa, misty & vanessa, really dish out the goods'
Wonderful service...ok food. We were invited here recently with friends for a birthday celebration. I read a few reviews before we went so did not have very high hopes.
Lucho was our server, he is apparently the brother of "Rosa." He was absolutely charming and totally wonderful from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. He made us feel welcome and cared for. He was attentive, accomodating and funny.
The portions here are pretty huge. There is a pretty limited wine list. We started with a Caprese Salad. This could have been much better had they used some nice sweet, vine ripened red tomato's instead of those hard greenish cheap ones.
For dinner I ordrered the Veal and was not very impressed. The batter was all soggy on it and then it was covered in a greyish tasteless gravy...I also had linguine with red sauce on the side. In hind site, I should have ordered some veggies with my meal instead. I had way too much sauce competing on my plate. The tomato sauce on my pasta was an orangy color and not too flavourful either . I also wondered if it had come from a can. I did not eat much of my meal as I was not really enjoying it. Some simple fresh chopped italian parsely could have improved the plating of their food.
My husband on the other hand, he is much easier to please than I am. He had the Ribs and Lasagna. He said both were delicious but the Lasagna was the best.
I had a taste of my hubby's Tiramisa. It was pretty good. We ended up with a lot of food to go. Lucho even threw in the untouched bread from our bread basket into our togo bag. We'd never seen that before and we all got a good chuckle out of it. That bread was the saving grace for me as I ended up turning it into fabulous french toast on Sunday morning. So hit or miss with this place but we all had a good time.
Good Homemade Italian. A local for me. I am a fan (as were a lot of celebrities!). Have tried most of the menu but always go back with the traditional meatball pasta as I like the sauce.
Portions are good and priced fairly. Staff is all family and they care a little more than average which is great.
I do recommend this Rosa's to my friends and they have all been happy!
Just like Mama made it! This authentic Italian kitchen has been a favorite spot for my husband and I for years. The restaurant is small and cozy (and often there's a wait but it's definitely worth it). We always go knowing we're out for a couple hours but we enjoy our time there. Drink some nice wine and share an Anna's salad before our meals - usually the same order everytime ... Meat canoloni for me, but occasionally the softball sized meatballs that melt in your mouth. Mmmm....I want some Rosa's now!
Very good!. We heard this place has very good food but poor service. This was not our experience, food and service were both very good. We did have to wait for a table but it was worth it. Thank you again for the wonderful meal, we'll be back very soon. Happy eating!
Average Italian food.. Pleasant but cramped small restaurant that offers average tasting Italian food. Be prepared to wait for the food.
Mama's Kitchen. This place is very small and you might have to wait outside for a while until you can get a table. But a police officer recommended this place and when the cops eat somewhere it is usually great! The food is amazing, and you better be hungry because their portions are massive. Everyone leaves with leftovers. And don't be surprised if Rosa herself come over to your table to ask you how you are doing, and if you need anything else. I will be a regular.
