The Pea Pod is a delightful eatery, where it is a pleasure to dine.
The menu is quite extensive in it's offerings, and the kitchen is flexible where dietary restrictions require accommodation.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon, and enjoyed the atmosphere (despite the bad music that was playing). Staff were patient, helpful and friendly and we appreciated the efforts our server made to ensure that we were clear about ingredients and wait times.
The counter does make drinks and smooties to go, so for brief periods the entire dining room has to hear blenders going ( - too bad this can't be done in the kitchen or from behind some other sound barrier).
The restaurant is quite family oriented and child friendly. There is child sized furniture in the dining room, as well as comfy reading chairs and a library corner that may have also had toys.
There is also a retail section area around the cash register that has an array of goods and grab&go items.
The ingredients in our meals were fresh and prepared well, and the wait time was reasonable.
It is a pleasure to have access to a vegan eatery on the main strip in Port Elgin. We look forward to returning and trying more delicious things.
Excellent menu with so many options: cold and warm bowls, salads, burgers, breakfast, wraps, smoothies, juice and the list goes on. I've never been disappointed with a meal here! A must try for anyone liking a delicious meal, vegan or not!
I was so happy that Port has a vegan restaurant. I wish I had more time there because I really wanted to eat the whole.menu. The vibe is warm. Staff are great. The food amazing!
There's nothing better than grabbing some lunch to go and eating at the beach.
My favorite salad is the quinoa. I wish they would give me the recipe so I can make it at home.

Locally owned vegan cafe with a lot of character and delicious meals, breakfasts, smoothies, and desserts.
We have never been disappointed a single time ever eating here. The food always exceeds our expectations. Sometimes I'm a bit wary of vegan food because let's be honest it's not usually as good as the "real thing". The Pea Pod has me eating my words this time 😂 (pun intended).
They carry "Beyond Meat" products and let me tell you - I was blown away by the taste and texture of the "chicken" and "burger". I actually had to do an inspection on the chicken because I doubted it was vegan lol. Looks tastes smells like actual chicken and has the same texture. It's insane. The burgers are the same. They look and taste like a beef patty and have the same texture (except better because there's no chance of a gross piece of grissol!).
Even if you're not into vegan food, give this place a chance. I've brought family here who isn't into vegan stuff at all and they loved it. That's saying something!
My family had a great experience at this retaurant. The establishment is quite large, as is the menu. There are so many options to choose from. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu, because what we ordered was delicious. The staff was very friendly. I love their staff shirts as well (Be Kind or Leave). Too true.
I love this place. Amazing food and smoothies, you can’t go wrong with anything. However, I just drove 30 minutes just to eat here... only to arrive to find that they changed their hours without updating them online. So made the trip for nothing which is just really annoying.
What an absolute surprise to find this gem in this tiny town... wow ! amazing breakfast, friendly service, cute decor... we 3 really enjoyed our breakfast this past Sunday. (Our friends ate at another restaurant, but when they saw our meals they were disappointed they didn't choose this place !)
I'll be making this a habit every time I am in the area !
