Came here today for lunch. Caesars were on special and were very tasty. Ordered the one piece halibut with wasabi aioli and tartar sauce. The pieces are huge and are battered nicely with a good ratio of fish to breading. The coleslaw was very good. Would definitely come back.
Great food for a good price . Located in an old church , inside is very unique and spacious . Portion was a great size and the staff were 10/10
Excellent Fish & chips. I like the fact that you can 'mix & match' your meal, choosing your fish (cod, salmon, halibut), cooking style (batter, panko crust, pan fried) & sides (cole slaw, Caesar, fries or a mix). Prompt, friendly service & good prices. A good choice in Port.
Had battered cod and grilled salmon. Take out service was quick as the restaurant was full. Salmon was tasty and not 'heavy' as was grilled. Cod batter was crisp and cooked through, and fish was moist. Chips are good but not crisp. Coleslaw is light but not overly flavourful. Overall a 7 / 10.
Fish is always awesome, not a big fan of the fries, coleslaw is good but not overly flavorful.
Great roadstop en route to Tofino. Started our weekend away on the right foot. High five, guys!
We stopped at Bare Bones just for the halibut and loved it! Coleslaw excellent. Halibut sublime. Fries only ok. A bit dry or not fresh. Toilet plugged and smelly but this was not their fault.
Great fish and chips in a great setting. Waitress was fantastic. Have the wasabi aioli with your halibut.
Good Food. If you are looking for Fish and Chips, this is the place to go. Their menu is small, fish and chip..halibut or cod or salmon. You can add shrimp skewers. You can have your fish coated the way you want it. Only downfall is their coleslaw is very bland. I wouldn't buy fish and chips anywhere is in Port Alberni.
Really, really good. Certainly the best fish n chip shop I've ever been too, Very nice setting in an old church, funky decor, friendly staff,...and the food, oh YES, the food?!
Your choice of fish in either beer batter, panko crumbs or broiled,..THICK perfectly cooked fries, the sides as predictable as you can imagine,...but the fish n chips,...the best,....I've been twice,...both times left full and happy,...just when I thought I could forgo deep fried foods for good comes a reason to reconsider.
Wonderful and Fresh!. Had a nice lunch there with my wife and son, place is kid friendly and the food is superb! MY halibut was paniko crumbed and cooked to perfection! stil moist and not over crusted or burnt. The coleslaw was fresh and homemade and the fries were equally as good, fresh handcut fries. What I liked was the decor, the misters for the vinagar to put on your fries was a nice treat! The logo is cool, this place is a must for tourists and locals....good food good price and good service!
So good! A must-try. They are also doing plain grilled fish and prawns now if you don't want fried fish. I had the halibut with panko breading and it was fantastic. The menu is small but everything is delicious. Big pieces of fish with not too much breading. You can pick the sides - slaw, fries, salad or half and half. You also can pick 2 different dips for your fish. The interior is amazing and they have a little blurb on the menu about the history of the church. Lunch for two was under $25 and great service!!
Fabulous fish and chips. One of my very favorite places to eat in Port Alberni. If you like your fish and chips to be more fish than batter, this is the place for you. A nice big chunk of fresh fish very lightly battered. Your choice of panko bread crumb coating or traditional. I got hooked on the panko so haven't tried the other. Choice of sauces as well. The wasabi aoili is my favorite. You can get a green salad with your fish instead of french fries, or half salad, half fries.
