Review Scarolie's Pasta Emporium - Pointe Claire

Dalida Zoghaib
Let me just start with wow. Been passing this location for years and finally went with the kids. They start off with an entire loaf of fresh warm baguette. The portions are massive, I mean we had leftovers for 2 days after. Bring your appetite! The pasta was cooked to perfection and the ratio of sauce to noodles was bang on. Definitely a place I'll be going back to

What can I say, delicious food I've been going here for years. unlike many other restaurants the quality of food seems to have improved since the last time and it was great even then. I had muscles with marinara sauce and Salmon with shrimps and the craziest butter in a ladle thing that I poored on the shrimp . Fantastic. Great service great food my gf liked her pasta too, can't say enough good things .

Good Italian restaurant in the West Island. Very spacious place to accommodate many customers, big parking lot and very fast service. The food is ok and quite pricey for pasta! But what I like is that they give you a whole warm baguette :) our waiter George looked like he wanted to finish his shift and go home..but he kept it professional and we got our food very fast. I've been coming here for many years and it's been consisant.

We had a really go experience. We arrived on a Saturday night, it was full but we still got amazing service. The waiter, Indigo, was absolutely great. All the food was great, really big portions, and warm Baggett. I would definitely go back.

The prices on the menu are a bit intimidating but the portions are pretty good and the food itself tastes great. Although, I was a bit disappointed that my spaghetti bolognese did not come with meatballs as shown in their pictures. Instead, I had a whole loaf of bread which was a good surprise to me.

Lots of ready free parking. Showed up without reservations and we got seated. The waitress was very helpful at helping us decide what was good that night. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The restrooms were very clean. Next time in town I will definitely be back. Very good Italian restaurant

Can’t believe i never tried Scarolies before!Amazing food and ambiance. They give you a baguette for entrée and olive oil. We had Gnocchi with spanish and Pizza. Very nice family restaurant and prices are affordable. Its a must try in the west island.

Always delicious, friendly service, great place to celebrate a birthday! Love the shrimp stuffed avocados and mostly everything there !!

Service poor, menus are old and dirty,I needed to wash my hands after I ordered. Chairs are old and have tears in seats! Old needs update. Waited for my drink, bills mixed up,no coffee or dessert offered. Better places in west island!

Maybe if you had policies in place that weren't so horrendous and barbaric (employees can't talk to each other?!), maybe then you'd have more than just a one star review. If I could give less than one star, I would. Your restaurant is now good viral for that ridiculous rule you have posted in plain sight, good job!
Billie Angel
Pretty bad seeing as the staff can't even talk to each other without a 2 week suspension. Hope you gave them free sign language lessons

When Scarollies is your family's favourite Resto and you can't go(because you have a loud toddler )you can always bring Scarollies home and enjoy their amazing family platters .always fresh and tasty ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Been a happy customer since 2000, since they opened. Always had exceptional service and great tasting food be it on a date, out with my daughter or for father's day.

What kind of boss would suspend their employees for 2 weeks for talking??? Evidently the one at Scarolies Pasta Emporium! What's the matter, are you overcompensating for something? I feel sorry for your emloyees! How can they work togther as a team which is the ONLY WY for a restaurant to run successfully? I have been in the food service indusindusrty for over 17 yeas, management for 10 of those! Never in a million years would I threaten the people who make the restaurant run witha 2 week suspension ffor something as stupid as talking to one another!

Had a bad experience couple of weeks ago, spoke to the manager and he assured us that our next order would be better. Ordered today and explained the our previous experience and still the same non sense. We have been ordering with you for years, and we feel the quality and experience is sadly declining. Definitely not impressed with the way I was rushed off the phone. Poor customer service! And that to with the manager. Truly disappointing!

I ate a carbonara pizza here, a few hours after I vomited everything... Food poisoning ! Low quality food and expensive price. Low quality and fake decoration.

Scarolie's Restaurant is just not what it use to be. It still is okay for lunch and table d'hote, But do not expect authentic Italian food. My pasta was overcooked and sauce tasted generic. Salad was wilted and not fresh. Not top quality, Prices are reasonable especially at lunch but you are getting what you are paying . Good for families and large groups. Service mediocre at best.

Pretty big place and quite packed. The decor is nice and the service was decent. We were a big group of about 20 people and had a nice corner to ourselves.
The menu has a great selection of items to satisfy pasta lovers and meat lovers alike. I chose one of the table d'hote items, and even the salad dressing was absolutely delicious.

Beautiful atmosphere, pleasant staff and comprehensive menu with many Italian favourites. Recommend dinner table d'hôte menu especially seafood pasta dishes.

The food is good. It reminds me of an American restaurant as the portions are very large and I find their food reminds me of Olive Garden in the US. They are consistent with their food, service is good, and great for families.

I have been to Scarolie's a few times over the past number of years. Have stuck mostly to the pasta. My favourite being the Penne Arrabiata which is my go-to at Italian restos.

The food is good. Not amazing but very consistent.

Service is good. Portions are large and prices are reasonable.

A good place for a winter dinner.

One of my fav restaurant! The food is always super good. I would agree about saying that the service isn't the best but it's still one of my favourite Italian restaurant.

Went here for lunch after a lot of recommendations, and that's when problems arise. When ones expectations are so high, it's very difficult meet them.
Service was just about satisfactory.
The complimentary bread was really tasty.
We ordered the crispy calamari and the avocado shrimp for starters, and that's when it went downhill. The calamari was just absolutely tasteless which had no character to it . It needed the sauces , balsamic vinegar etc to make it something other than an oily rubbery ring.
The avocado shrimp was Much better, although it got quite monotonous and also a bit tasteless after the first 3 spoons.
We then went in for the sausage pasta, which is supposed to be one of the good sellers.. And when it arrived, we had this plate of pasta with nothing but excess tomato sauce. It overpowered every other ingredient .
The deserts can be skipped if possible .
Overall was not impressed as this place is also a bit on the pricey side.

Great pasta every time. Not the best atmosphere as it gets very noisy in evenings on weekends. Love the fresh warm bread they serve at the table.
Piasko
Very poor. We visited Scarolies at least 15 times in the past and the last time on the weekend. They do not remind Scarolies past. Looks like the are loosing their quality looking for the cheaper way to serve customers. They use low quality commercial pasta and souses.
You can get much better souse from any super market. The place is not very well kept. Totally worn out chair upholstery and dirty floor.
We talked to the manager who insisted that they have not change any personnel in the kitchen and he was also supprised by our comments. No apologies, not sorry.
Not going back there ever again!!!

Horrible. Must be new owners. The place has really gone down hill fast.

RAVIOLI, ESPRESSO, BISCOTTO. Yesterday, Thursday, October 23/2014 my husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Scarolie's. We know & really enjoy Italian food. The service was excellent. My husband's pizza, espresso & biscotto with nuts were delicious. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for my own lunch. The Raviolis were hard around the edges, as if they were just defrosted, not at all fresh. My espresso was lukewarm & bitter. My biscotto, or whatever it was called, was bland with no nuts, totally different than that of my husband's. When I told our waiter about my lukewarm & bitter espresso, he did apologize, and brought me another. While the second espresso was a LITTLE warmer, it was not the steaming hot espresso I normally have at any other Italian restaurant; and was much more bitter to the taste. The second biscotto was the same tasteless one as the first.
My husband and I are retired, so we enjoy eating out quite a bit. We were so hoping to become frequent diners at Scarolie's because we love Italian food, and the restaurant is conveniently located near our home. Regretfully, my dining experience there was not one I would like to repeat; neither can I, in good conscience, recommend it to our friends.

Regretfully,

Domenica Facciolo O'Toole

Cafateria ambiance.. Well Dave didn't come this time he was on another date, instead one of our freelancers join me.
We were seated by a too young hostess, not dressed very nice, in flip flops. First impression not great. Sat down and a waitress stopped by and quickly left. This would be the tempo of her service. No drinkable beer on menu. Wine was pedestrian so we settled for water. Didn't quite get our very simple pasta order right, but we were hungrier than 2 bear cubs. Tables all squeezed together like you are on top of each other. Not great ambiance. Waitress was always in a hurry and rushing us making us feel like we were the enemy.
Over all food was average. Nothing special. But i wasn't grabbing my Rolaids and hour later so all was good.

Fantastic Food!. This is THE place for Italian on the West Island. Don't go if you're tired and want a quiet place to eat. This place is hopping, full of people laughing and enjoying themselves. Unless you reserve (4 or more) on weekends, you're bound to wait for a place, sometimes a LONG time. Sign that this a very popular restaurant - with good reason!

It's good for the West Island

Scarolie's provides great value for money. Whenever we go to Montreal, we always head there. My only criticism is that they drown their pastas in too much sauce. Tell them and they'll fix it.
Carol K.
Best Italian restaurant in the city!!! I ask ppl coming from Montreal to get me take out. Yummmyyyyy their chicken parmesan is the best!! Gacciatore pasta is delicious as well as most dishes. I don't think it's over priced like others say. After all it's not a fast food restaurant where u expect to pay under 10$.
Matt
There is nothing wrong with Scarolie's.
BRS
Just by Looking at the dishes doesn't make you think of Dog Food??!!
I mean sauce alllllll over the plates,
The "intent" of selling Farfalle as a "specialty of the house" which I think that they would've put another sort of "unknown" pasta ....
Disappointing ...!!!
Kelsey
I've eaten here dozens of times, and the restaurant still fails to disappoint. The price is right, thee food is good, and the service is always great. This is one of my favorite restaurants, and I don't even need to go downtown!
Bonnie
Have been here quite a few times and sometimes I question why we go back. Food is usually good- but not consistently. Service is mediocre at best. Wrong order several times. One waitress even argued with me trying to convince me that I ordered a dish with meat despite the fact that we're vegetarian and go great lengths to ensure that there are no mix ups. Wait staff seem disinterested in being there.

Very good service, good food good size dishes. I always ask to be served by Matt.

Food and Atmosphere at Scarolies in West Island. Had a great meal with my wife and our four adult children. We all loved the food, the atmosphere, though not intimate for a couples place, all was great, prices were fair. Very busy, large selection of dishes. Would go there anytime.
Samantha
Reminds me of the States. Homesick for America? This is the place for you. Decor, loud atmosphere, the whole nine yards. The food's quite good, but it's definitely quantity over quality. Portions are very generous, and food is reasonably priced. Substitutions will cost you though (extra for whole wheat pasta, etc), unless you successfully flirt with the wait staff...
Nancy
Amazing. I love the food, love the service- fav dish is fafarle arrosto! You can also purchase their sauce to bring home- amazing restaurant:)

My favorite restaurant Pasta al forno is very delicious

Best in the West. I've eaten here over 100 time and never anything but satisfied. It is a loud restaurant but its worth it for the food. The menu has something for everyone!!
Keeks
Its ok. Decent place for a restaurant in the west island, smt for everyone
Bizarre
Disappointed.... I went to Scarolie having high hopes after hearing how great this place was. I also read good reviews online about the place. I have to say, I was fairly disappointed.

Service:
The service was OK. The waiter was friendly and did everything he was suppose to. He was a little young, and lacked a little professional maturity, but other then that I have no complaints on the service.

Food:
What was ordered:
- Fried calamari
- Penne Romanoff

The food was very mainstream Italian. The calamari was rubbery. The pasta was not anywhere close to an authentic Penne Romanoff. The mushrooms in the tomato sauce were rubbery and chewy like those mushroom you get in a can. This was Canadianized italian food.

Price:
As many have said, the food is overpriced.

Atmosphere:
Loud, very big, and definitely not romantic.

I will not return again.

There are far better places to go. Nothing special.

Excellent food!! Great service!! Best value for your dollar in Montreal.

Good for the west island. This is the typical suburban restaurant that is good for the location but would never survive in the city. The food is ok but overpriced and the atmosphere is loud and without character.

Awesome food. Really great menu. The homemade lobster stuffed tortelini in a rose sauce was fantastic. Nice, rustic setting, very efficient serving staff. Great value for the money.
Nicky
Amazing!!. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the west island. Really good pasta, good for any occasion. Really nice vibes inside the decor is very Italian.
Silver Mustang
Atmosphere. Food is excellent, but some waiters should go to Harveys. The rest are very good. It is crowded most of the time and loud in the evenings and especially on weekends, so we order take out only.
Ilvgoodfood
Greek/Italian. This place is always busy. This is a sign that good food is around and people enjoy it very much. Be ready to bring a doggy bag because their portion are huge. They serve fresh baked bread and they are not cheap on the quality (big/huge shrimps, big scallops, etc.)
It may be far for some because the restaurant is in the west end of the city but definitively worth the trip.
M.S.E
It's a great place with awesome food. I warn you now, it's super crowded on busy days but it's worth the wait
Paulie
There is nothing remotely romantic about this restaurant. It is large and loud and very crowded. I keep going back thinking I must be missing something but I'm dissappointed each time.
Joseph Zajdler
Food was incredible, too much to eat, get a doggie-bag. Warmly decorated but not secluded for romatic date, lights are bright , children running.around, more family oriented
Mina.elizabeth.lam
I would definitely return:...To try another of their table d’hôte item...For a romantic date The Lady and the Tramp style. Scarolie’s is perfect for: ...Big gatherings (10+ people)...Its infinite pasta menu and it’s great table d’hôte
This Is Why We're Fat
This rustic family friendly eatery was dimly lit and packed with people loudly chatting and eating the night away. While waiting for a table, I thought about how terrible
