Review Afghan Kebab & Shawarma - Pickering

Support a local shawarma business instead of going to the chain restaurants in the area. This place is authentic! Completely different taste and not runny at all. Always opted for the chicken shawarma wrap and I was never disappointed. Fresh ingredients, prepared right before your eyes behind the counter.

I ordered 4 Chicken Shawarma's through DOORDASH. I waited about 40 minutes for the order to get to my door. My husband and I were initially so excited to eat as we love shawarma and have been to many places and have never been disappointed. Unfortunately, when we took our first bite we were underwhelmed, we continued to eat in hopes that maybe it would get better. I waited for the wrap to start tasting like a chicken shawarma, but the flavors remained bland and disappointing. I opened the the wrap and noticed there was scraps of cabbage, 4 broken pieces of turnips which were very pale pink in color, and the chicken was so dry it had a similar texture to can flaked tuna. There was no authenticity in the taste, the chicken didn't have that usual toasted and well seasoned taste, it really didn't taste like much. The size is comparable to a McDonalds Chicken Wrap, I've never been able to wrap my hand around a shawarma as other places would pack it, but this one was small in size. If you're looking for shawarma I'd recommend going else where. Maybe Check out Shawarma Bros or Amazing Shawarma. DoorDash refunded me about 1/3 of what I paid, this experience literally put a bad taste in our mouths. Pics/Vid for reference.

Although I don't eat Afghan or Middle Eastern cuisine regularly, I do enjoy it. With three vertical rotisseries, the house specialty seems to be chicken shawarma. It looked good, but I had a craving for beef so I ordered the Beef Kebab, served with with rice, salad, and a choice of naan or a drink. The beef kebabs are made to order so it took a few minutes. At least I knew it was fresh! The included salad is also assembled as ordered, with your choice of ingredients.The seasoned rice was also freshly made. The entire plate was dressed with a variety of seasonings and sauces. Finally, the meat was placed on top and also dressed with sauces. Nice! Everything was delicious and I could see that it was obviously freshly made to order. The meat was well seasoned, tender, juicy, and flavourful, especially with the sauces on it. I even enjoyed the salad, where every component of it seemed fresh. This was a very good, flavourful meal. Beyond the good tasting food, the two fellows behind the counter were friendly and engaging. I think I'll have to come here more often!

Got the shawarma plate as they didn't have anything else available. It was tasty but could use more garlic sauce. Was about $18 with tip.

This place has been getting better and better. To be honest I wasn't a fan but tonight the food was pretty good plus their rice is addictive. Staff is super friendly and portions are huge! I usually get the falafel plate which is one of my faves. Their meat dishes are good too. I would definitely come back to eat here now that the quality of their food has improved in a huge way!_

Walked in today to get lunch combo,they said they didn't had combo ,so got chicken shawarma and falafel plate. Not worth it, there hot sauce is tangy ,rice is pale in taste.

The worst menu options . Every menu option was tossed out. Only shawarma and even that they are fussy and won’t give you salad in a separate container. I walked out. Really UN accommodating . It’s covid and people have options . Don’t be so arrogant. There’s a million kebab and shawarma options in the area. Change your sign and remove ‘kebab’ if you can’t offer even one option of the dozen on the signboard.

BAD: - Hot sauce was sour. - Dirty place. - Food was given on a very dirty used tray. - Chicken had strong pepper taste. - I had told the person to put the hot sauce on one only, but he still put the hot sauce right in the middle. NEUTRAL: - Customer Service wasn't good but I went there knowing places like these have no... GOOD: - Chicken & Rice were cooked well. * Not going back unless they change the hot sauce and take the sour taste out of it, which I wouldn't ever get to know about.

I just finished a Chicken Shawarma Wrap w/ a Bottle of Water for $8.50. The chicken was tender, the sauces were tasty and well-balanced, and the pita wrap held it all together to the end. All said, a decent sandwich.

horrible service, server was extremely rude and hung up on me. said he was annoyed that i called a billion, not my fault they couldn't understand and take the order correct the first time, even then they got a bunch of things wrong. RUDE RUDE people. they are super cheap with their sauce, ordered 40$ worth food and even after asking for extra sauce they only gave me 1 sauce. <br/><br/>they charged me 41$ for 32 worth off food, when i asked for a breakdown, he just raised his voice and got irritated. horrible!

Serves just a sprinkle of chicken shawarama on top of rice. Not worth it. Went 2 times to see if first time was an accident it wasn't. Anyone have a good tasting shawarama place in pickering let me know.

The guy who works there (owner) is rude. Not to mention the food is fair tasting, yet over priced. He is also very cheap on toppings. Don't even ask for a little more of a desired topping, unless you want to be told off.

Bland. Food bland. Salad was lettuce with ranch dressing? Is that afghani? I didn't think so. <br/><br/>Service terrible and took forever for take out when no other customers.<br/><br/>Owners and cooks weren't sure how to use oven and werent sure if food was cooking.

Ask them for the grilled fish steak listed on their menu for $9.99. they don't carry it. either it's on the menu to make it look like they have more than they list or they're too lazy to remove it.
