Review Pete's Gourmet Burger - Pickering

One of those rare gems hidden in a strip mall plaza. The burgers and fries are amazing. They give great portions for the value and have great customer service. We discovered this place by accident and it’s now one of our go-to burger places for take out. It’s a small place so I suggest take-out and they are usually busy. We normally call ahead and our order is ready when we arrive. Overall a great mom and pop burger place.

We ordered from here last night because we wanted to try something new and saw the great reviews and rating of this place. We ordered a chicken souvlaki dinner, a gyro dinner, cheese/bacon burger and spicy fries. The meat in both dinners was minimal. Four small pieces of chicken (so dry), 5 strips of gyro (which was dry and brittle). The rice was dry and tasteless and the tzatziki was basically yogurt with a cup of garlic in it. My son thought his burger was 'okay', but the fries tasted like McCain's spicy fries. Needless to say, it was a very disappointing experience. Not sure if it's because there are not many customers ordering, but the gyro looked like it has been sitting there for days. For the amount of money paid, the food was definitely not worth it. It's unfortunate because we like to support local businesses, especially at this crazy time, but this was a huge turn off. Maybe, in the future, once things get back to normal, we might try again, but for now, this is not a place I would recommend to anyone. Just my opinion.

Ordered takeout yesterday based on all the positive reviews as it's my first time eating from here. The burgers and fries were nothing spectacular. Fries were loaded with grease which left the box totally saturated. The burgers were flat and dry, but still tasty. The garnishes were placed under and on top of the burger which I found very strange. Anyhow I was expecting better based on all the outstanding reviews. I'd say it's overrated, but the owner is super nice!

I discovered Pete’s Gourmet Burgers over a year ago and let me tell you whenever I’m in the area I go. I think about it whenever I crave a burger. In my opinion the BEST burger. I always get the mushroom burger and it never disappoints. So juicy, full of flavour. I want another one now.

Chicken souvlaki and gyros are my favorites. Great portion for price. Homemade burger is also amazing. Family run business with friendly service, been coming here for years.

Very friendly service, good (not great) burgers, and the fries were just okay. Kind've undercooked, so not very crispy and lacking salt. I think maybe my expectations were too high, based on the other great reviews...

They have 6 and 4 oz burger which is crazy delicious. They also have spicy poutine which is superbly unforgettable yummy. The price is reasonable. The place is clean and neat. Highly recommended.

This is my 1st visit, I ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Amazing fries! Crispy, golden and cooked just how I like them. The chicken was tender, juicy and well-seasoned. The tzatziki sauce was packed with flavour, really enjoyed it.
