Review Zeera By The Bay - Pickering

Nidhi Kurian
I ordered Daal mukhnee and Plain naan.. The daal was okay but the naan was a huge disappointment could not even chew and not worth $3.25 for a naan
Reviews Durham
Not up to quality standards! We ordered a few dishes for dinner through the Uber Eats app and have to say the quality and portion size was not acceptable. They also forgot to include the garlic naan we paid $3.99 for... First off, the chicken in all the dishes was clearly not fresh, it was fiberous, flavourless and somehow dry inside even though it was cooked in sauce. It appears the dishes were left over from the lunch orders earlier in the day. I'm sure the owner will reply to this review and say "We never serve reheated chicken!" but that would just make it even worse, as then would indicate they don't know how to cook chicken at all lol. Anyways, the tandoori chicken was... well I'm not sure what it was exactly, as I couldn't recognize which part of the bird they were from! It looked like each piece was part spine, neck or something, and the flavor was suspect, smelled off, not like fresh tandoori, again likely just reheated from lunch...my girlfriend refused to take a chance of eating it. I ate it but it had the consitence of rubber/plastic almost like cartilage but it was meat, and the meat I did manage to pick off was barely edible! So I would avoid this dish for sure. The other dishes, vindaloo, saag and channa we not as flavourful as we have had elsewhere. Seemed like it hadn't been simmered long enough with the spices to create the depth that the dish was supposed to have and consistency was a little watery. Also the containers looked a lot like other containers that restaurants serve but just in slightly smaller size. I guess everyone is cutting corners "because of covid". All in all we will not be ordering from here again, and advising our friends. There's lots of other great indian restaurants to choose from in the area.

This is such a good restaurant. The food is wonderful, both sitting in or taking out. I have been a repeat customer for about 5 years. It isn't very big, so it's best to make a reservation.

Terrible food. It was my first time ordering from this place so to be safe, I chose a couple of dishes that are really hard to get wrong. But I could not have been more mistaken. The veg biryani should not be called biryani. The veggies were half cooked - half raw! It was a desperate attempt between Mexican rice and Indian pulao, both gone wrong. The naan was so thick it wasn’t cooked inside. I couldn’t even get through my meal - had to throw out the food! What a waste! Awful!!

Had a date night with my wife here recently. Staff were extremely friendly and our food was fantastic. I can highly recommend it.

I have had this a few times and it is always a hit with the family. Everything we've tasted has been eaten and enjoyed, even by the picky 3 year old brat. I highly suggest ordering here. Top notch food.

Quaint little restaurant with a nice zen vibe. The food came a bit too quickly after we ordered it, making me think it wasn’t made fresh but sitting there. The food definitely has flavour and spice, but the portions are small and we felt a bit skimped out on the meat. The Zeera biryani game with one tiger shrimp only! If we’re paying premium for this dish, at least throw in 2. The beef vindaloo was also punched with delicious flavour and spice, but there were maybe only 6 pieces of beef with full gravy. We had asked for medium spice for our biryani and it was definitely more than a medium spice, so be cautious when asking for spice. The Raita was delicious, no complaints there.

Ordered takeout. Enjoyed the food! Food arrived hot and fresh very tasty!

Very good hole in the wall. I am not a fan of the butter chicken but everything else is great. The portions are huge, but the take out meals come with no na'an or rice. The food seems authentic and the people are always nice in there. It is a very busy space and my favourite dish is the saag paneer (sorry if I misspelt anything)
Angi Marcantonio
By far some of the most flavourful Indian food I have ever had. Location is small and noisy. But takeout orders mean I don't have to deal with it.
Chad Fernandez
Not good quality for your money. I don't suggest this place. The beef was not slow cooked enough and very tough. The biriyani both chicken and Lamb were sub par. And portion sizes were not generous. I'd suggest going with other options.

Quaint little spot in the south side of Pickering. Great option for dining in, take out or delivery. Best Indian food around town for sure. Highlights are the chicken tikka and eggplant curry...but their butter chicken, kebobs and paneer dishes won't let you down either. Make sure you ask them to spice it up!!!

Tried this place for the first time today... Was surprised at how good it was. I have a few favorite Indian restaurants downtown Toronto but this place is good too! Nice that I don't have to go downtown for such a good Indian food experience. Friendly service. Best I've found in Pickering
Abrushwithdeath
A hidden gem. Sure, the locale is a touch perplexing what with inhabiting real estate with a wharf and the garlicky carvern that is Masseys. However, despite the sub par ambiance, the slightly high prices and the length of serving time; the flavours are phenomenal. There's nothing I can compare this place to in terms of Indian food, it's just that wonderful and that's why I eat out in the first place. This is the final word in Idian cuisine in The GTA.

Very tricky the owner said he would give us a deal if we left a good review here. Then when asking for bill because it seemed very when told the price we were told printer wasnt working! Very loud def wont ever return

The food here is amazing and the owner is very friendly.

Delicious food. Friendly staff. We've been for dinner and to the buffet lunch. The dining room could use a clean and some paint but it's otherwise charming and the food is to die for. We'll be back again.

Will never return back. Was greeted by a man who barely spoke english. our food took very long and half our dishes were cold. beleive me cauliflower from dish called alugobi was frozen cold. looks like they serve frozen food instead of fresh.
Melissa Terry
The food is great but the service is very very slow. They need to hire more waitress and servers. Food best for take out as it's super small and tight on the inside.

Great Indian Food!. We ordered pick up, and oh my goodness! Some of the bet Indian food I have had. We had butter chicken, saag paneer and raas malai. The curry was creamy and had many notes of flavour. I will definitely be going back. The interior of the restaurant is really nice, which was surprising considering its parking lot-plaza location. Looking forward to dining in next time. Oh, good prices as well, nice staff.

New mgt, better service, same great food. We've been to this restaurant several times over the past few years, and service was always snail-paced, although the food is beyond compare. The complexity of their seasonings is the secret - each dish has multiple layers of flavour. The actual ambience leaves a lot to be desired - tired looking overall, but the food trumps the ambience every time. We returned in early December thrilled to find new management and a renewed focus on service, with more wait staff who are far more attentive. Now if only they could spruce up the interior a bit...
Paul Flannery
Very surprised. We have been eating here for a long time but over the past 12 months the service had deteriorated even though the food remained as tasty as the first visit. Went back a few weeks ago to find there is new management that is focused on great food AND service. So happy to see the improvement and we will be regular customers once again.
Keep up the great work

Best restaurant in the world. There is new owner food is so tasty and services is fast and in Wednesday before it opened 5:00 and now it opens 12:00 am and when i went i ordered food and i go my food really fast and the waiters were really friendly. In Thursday and in Friday i go to eat buffet and the price is only 9.99 dollars and i can eat how much i want.

Please hire servers. We have been to this restaurant on two occassions and found the food to be excellent. However, the pace and coordination of service is terrible. On both occasions, the restauant and banquet area have been at capacity with walk in traffic turned away or asked to wait long perioids for a table.

The owner serves the tables in the restaurant with maybe one other person, usually a family member. Due to serving the other tables, taking orders etc, very little attention is provided to refilling water glasses, taking additional drink orders etc. Guests are left waiting for long periods to obtain their bills (as they were to placing original order). This results in your dinner lasting 30+ minutes longer than it should.

If more organized and with proper staffing, diners would have a more enjoyable experience and the restaurant would be able to turn over a few more tables and increase sales!

My dilemma at this restaurant - how much do you tip when you have been served by the owner? I have a hard time adding an extra $20 on a $100 bill when it would appear to go to the owner for what is essentially poor service. He should hire service staff and manage the house.

We will be back because the food is excellent.

Best butter chicken in GTA!!!. We were looking for butter chicken in the east end of Scarborough or surrounding area. We found Zeera's online and decided to give it a try...
The BEST butter chicken around...we swear! It is smooth and flavourful and you will NOT be able to stop at one bite. Although we finished the chicken, we brought the sauce home as leftovers with extra naan bread as a snack. The Naans are fresh and light. The samosas are huge and flavourful as well. Service is superb and fast. Good family atmosphere and very reasonable prices. We are definite return customers.
Thank you for the wonderful meal!
Cindy
We love it. We've eaten a lot of Indian and always find the food exceptional. Friendly owners and staff. We'll be back again and again!

That meal freakin awesome! Great food, fabulous service! I'll be back, again and again...

The best biryani in toronto!! a friendly and warm host. thank you. tina :-)

Staff were courteous. Service reasonably quick with food. Unfortunately food quality was very poor -bland tasting -obviously not fresh and portions small. Was disappointed given other positive reviews.

Fake positive reviews?. I tried this restaurant the other day at 3pm. i walked in and found someone laying across 4 chairs. he seemed rather annoyed someone walked in. i ordered the soup and a biryani dish. he told me i had to pay cash because his boss, who knew how to work the debit machine would be back at 5. i had asked to see the take out menu and specified it was a take out order. the soup appeared to have been boiled by microwave out of the container and leaking into the main dish. a couple of times i was told he had no spoons for takeout so when repeatedly asking how i was to eat the soup he finally gave me a metal spoon. the spoon was filthy. i wouldn't have put it in a dishwasher before rinsing it under a tap. the soup was bland. the shrimp biryani was greasy with sticky and clingy and oily rice with the tails still attached to the shrimp. it was the worst "indian" food i have ever tasted and i will never be back. the service was worse than the food. i tried the food the next day at a competing indian restaurant on kingston road and it was excellent and what i am accustomed to.

Food is very tasty & fresh. We also love the individual copper dishes each dish is served in. The place is clean and very friendly atmosphere. We noticed there were lots of 'regulars' /customers who keep coming back which is a very good sign.

Satisfied picky eater ( July 2013). Excellent food. Best service. The quality of dishes were exceptional. The management is very friendly and personable. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food.
Do recommend to try. One of the best i've tried.

Delicious!. I've eaten a lot of Indian in Britain and Canada, and Zeera makes the grade! Bhel Puri was crunchy and tangy and I think it had black salt which is definitely an acquired taste but certainly not boring. Chicken Korma was a nice change from some of the sickly sweet coconut sauces you encounter- this was a rich golden sauce with almonds and lots of cardamom. Dal Makni was delicious. I ordered it extra hot, and it was served with plenty of chili balanced really well with the other spices- perfect with the basmati rice. My favorite dish was the Patiala Eggplant, I'm already looking forward to having it leftover for lunch tomorrow. We had a garlic naan and it was freshly baked to perfection. Can't wait to try some of the other menu items next time I'm in Pickering!
Norman
We found the staff very helpful to choose dishes suited to our taste because we had never tried Indian cuisine before. The food tasted FANTASTIC.
Debra
Delicious..... Absolutely delicious food. Everything we have tried so far has been amazing. I hope they don't let the service slip too much which will spoil the whole experience.

BEST INDIAN FOOD EVER. I had never been here before and was meeting my parents we are from out of town, I had googled indian food in Pickering and this had good reviews so we decided to try it out. It was the best indian we have ever had!!!! Butter chicken, chicken madras, lamb/beef vindaloo and the fish the owner recommended was out of this world!!!! Best naan and rice we have ever had!!!! Highly recommend!!! The owner was wonderful and aimed to please which he did beyond our expectations!!!! YOU NEED TO EAT HERE IF YOU LIKE INDIAN FOOD!!!!!!

I've been a regular at this restaurant since it opened. I enjoy the food here but over the last few months I've started to notice a decline in quality, service, and atmosphere. The food was top notch before but it seems like they're starting to cut corners. There has been a few times when the food wasn't cooked properly or for example another time when the Zeera Biryani that's supposed to have shrimp in it did not. I keep seeing new servers, and none of them are consistent. It takes longer for food to come to the table, one time I waited more than half an hour just to get my food and it wasn't even busy. As for the the atmosphere, recently they've added these hideous, bright electronic displays on the outside of the restaurant as well as a huge ugly anchor in front of the restaurant. These items are all out of place and cheapens the whole restaurant, especially when the restaurant claims to be fine dining. I used to really enjoy this restaurant but if they key elements (food, service, and decor) keeps declining like this they will lose a lot of customers.

Best Indian food I've had in Durham. I just visited this place last night for dinner with my family. Zera was recommended to us by a friend, and all of my family members and I were impressed (and we're Indian, so we know our Indian food).

I can see what others are saying about the service, however, the owner and his wife personally attended to us, and were extremely gracious and welcoming.

As for the food - probably the best Indian food I've had outside of Britain. I recommend the lamb saag, shrimp vindaloo, biriyani, garlic naans, paneer (can't remember which one, but it has peppers), and tandoori chicken - essentially, everything we ordered.

This spot is close to home, and a definite re-visit.
Food_Dog
A joke of a place terrible service! Fake reviews I think !

Good food but slow service.. Been to Zeera before with co-workers and were impressed with the food, although previous experience also left me somewhat desiring for better service, went for a dinner on the weekend.

Food:
- All were great, the platter tasted great, the fish was great, really can't complaint.

Service:
- Friendly service.
- SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, took us almost 1 hr and 30mins to finish the dinner, also not the most pleasant when all we hear is people yelling in the kitchen.
- Mix up on orders, we didn't mind some of the mix ups as they are still delicious, but the restaurant wasn't even full.

Overall we like the food, but they really need to work on that service, I'm not sure if it's an isolated day for this, as people around us are waiting forever for their food, there were even folks that left without eating because they were waiting so long, it's a shame to let a restaurant with good food being brought down because of service.
Tim
The fish tikka melts in your mouth. The blend of spices that go into the zeera special chicken are mouth watering. The bread was made fresh to order. Everyone should try this place. The owner was so friendly and because we are new to Indian cuisine he picked out our meal for us. He knew what to pick because we will be back to try everything else on the menu. Loved every bite.

Saturday Dinner. First time at this restaurant which is close to home. The food was soooo good and the staff were all very friendly. Our fellow diners were so friendly that we tried each other's choice and had great conversation throughout dinner. This is a homey place with great food. Will be there again soon.

Mulligatawny. My son and I found this place on the internet by accident and it has now become our dedicated spot for Indian food. Probably the best Indian food I have ever had. The mulligatawny soup is a must for first timers. The staff is very friendly, the patrons are very friendly and the food is so good it will be the first place you think of when some one asks you to recommnend somewhere to have excellent Indian cuisine.
Dave
Great Food, Nice people. We were just there for lunch today Jan. 12, 2013. Great food, excellent service. It really felt like a home cooked meal. Very reasonably priced.

Googled Indian restaurant in Pickering and found Zeera by the Bay . My whole family enjoyed the dinner , loved the tandoori fish, daal and chicken, my kids are tough to please And the biggest critics of Indian food . Seriously they want to go back again. Mango kulfi was amazing

I've been here many many times to the point the owner knows me. I SWEAR this is no a coherst review... When I first saw this place on this site I decided to try it because I love indian food. It had high reviews here. I've tried many menu items and not once have I been disappointed. I honestly thought that it was a "hole In the wall joint" but the food is retardedly good. Zeera is definitely on my top ten list of Indian cuisine. Maybe, my top 2!

Great Food, Great Service. Rarely venturing from Little India in Toronto, I didn't know quite what to expect when I met a friend at Zeera's in Pickering for dinner.
The dining room is small, but charming and the owner Baldeep Soodan was charming as well. His suggestions were very helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. The seasoning was perfect, not too mild or hot and the garlic naan was wonderful. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some more of his specialties.
Annie
Mouth Watering Experience. I have had dinner and the lunch buffet at Zeera and both times I was thrilled with the mouth watering experience. We now travel for two hours to have a meal at Zeera - it's that delicious. Whatever spices are used, they get the taste buds in your mouth working overtime!!!! Thanks Baldeep.

Best Indian Food EVER!. Last month, I went to this restaurant with my husband and cousin. Before eating anything, I didn't know what to expect because my last Indian Cousin dining experience was not very impressive. But right after I tasted my first bite of butter chicken, it blew my taste buds away. It was AMAZING!!!!! the chicken was very tender and the sauce was very delicious. All the flavours mixed perfectly in my mouth. Beside the food, the service was also very good. the owner did a very good job to provide us a pleasant dining experience. I would definitely go back again.

Blown Away. So, last night I at Zerra By the Bay for the second time and it was quite simply incredible. If you haven't eaten here, you must, let me describe it like this.....

If you don't know who Felix Baumgartner is, he is the fearless gentleman who just broke the world record for highest skydive by jumping from outer space, basically. I am more amazed by how unbelievable the food is at Zerra than the fact that Felix just did that!

BOOM! Eat there! Just do it. It will change your life.

You're welcome xo

Terrible Service. It's a shame the food is so good because the service can be terrible. Reserved a table, waited 20 minutes to be shown to the newer section (don't get seated there you will be forgot). No table set up so we had to set up our own.
Appetizers came before cuttlery (had to ask for forks) and drinks, had to remind them that we were missing an app and also some drinks. One chicken korma only had four tiny pieces of chicken in it.
No appologies offered for any of the many issues, no reduction in the bill.
Like I say, it's a shame but we won't be going back.
Jenbear422
Amazing Food. We have gone to other indian restaurants nothing can beat the food at Zeera's The service is wonderful, the food amazing!

I recommend the fish pakoras
butter chicken, lamb vindaloo
Aloo Gobi Mutter

Very pleasantly surprised to find an authentic Indian restaurant in the Durham region. Great food, good portions, reasonable prices. Go and experience for yourself.

Can't complain!. Checked out Zeera after going to a burger joint nearby. Pleasantly surprised.
The owner/host decided to choose our meal for us which was actually a good move on our part. Everything he recommended was delicious. A sample of Indian beer was well-appreciated as well.

I'll come back and probably order take-out. The quality of the food is what makes it good, and that's probably the most important part of a restaurant anyway.
Sandrastan1007
Delicious in Durham. Our second visit to Zeera was just as amazing as the first. As another reviewer posted, the tikka fish was served first, followed very closely after by all the other dishes. We enjoyed that the fish arrived at our table while it was sizzling.
The food is spiced to perfection. Eggplant, chana, potatoes yummy.
Personalized service from the owner.
Portion sizes just big enough for a take home meal.

We will definitely be back

Best Indian period! Need I say more?
Bryan Mark
Amazing food, friendly/quick service, great price. We had the Fish Tikka (blacken and tender/juicy), Chicken Vindaloo (spicy and flavorful), Daal Mukhnee (thick and perfect with rice), pulao rice & garlic Naan. The best meal I had in a long time and very affordable. Will be making thisour regular spot.
Ryan
Ho-hum. I feel out of place after all the rave reviews but I can't say we enjoyed our experience all that much. Service was pleasant but slow and inconsitent. Fish was brought out before the mains. Would have been nice to have rice and Nan to eat with it. Samosa was cold in the middle. Veggie Korma was made with frozen vegetables. We have had much much better in Durham. This place is not in our top 5. Bummer.

I have found my favorite east end Indian restaurant! Service was good and the food was GREAT!! It was the best butter chicken I have ever had! I would highly recommend this place. I know I'll be back!!

Had the most brilliant meal last night. We were looking for some place to eat near the marina and came upon Avatar (no, he's not blue) , the owner of the restaurant who not only made us feel like his best customers even though he had never met us before but also convinced us to trust his choices for our meal. Spectacular. The sea bass melted in our mouths and I even had thirds of the saffron cumin rice and I'm not a huge rice fan! Delicious. Highly recommend this place to everyone. We'll certainly be back. Thanks Avatar!
Sharon
Must have been a bad day. First we had to wait 92 minutes for our food. then we did not get what was ordered. Naans were not cooked fully. Portion size was so small. Had butter chicken with 3 small pieces of chicken. The others we ordered had 4 pieces. Thank god we tried this place before taking family and friends. Will never return and will never talk about this place. Disgusted!!!!
Andrew
Awesome Indian food. Fair prices. Intimate. The owner is a great guy. He will always make you feel very welcome and go out of his way to make sure is experience is pleasurable. Try it. You will be back.
Cynthia
Food was delicious! Friendly staff. Will have to try the take out too

Good Indian food in pickering? Yes Zeera. The food is quite good. They use some additional herbs and spices that gives their food a different taste than other Indian restaurant. The naan and rice are good as well. The rice with the spices and saffron was nice.

The food isn't spicy its mild. I dont like spicy food or very spicy food like some other Indian restaurants.
Ricquetta F.
This little place is a hidden gem in the pickering area. After reading the reviews, I decided that this would be a nice place to celebrate my mother in laws birthday. We went with quite a large party and we were the only people there. We loved it and the owners we incredibly homey and funny. They made the experience light, which was what we were hoping for. Definitely recommending this place to others!
Bogdan
Nice restaurant. I am new to Indian cousin but visit to this restaurant positively made me an Indian food lover. All food we ordered was fantastic. I liked See Bass tandoori. It was excellent. Staff is friendly and can make a good advice on what to order if you hesitating. Only thing to be aware off is that food is a bit on a greasy side.
Brian
Awesome food. Exceptionally good Indian food. Portions were generous and fresh. Ambiance is so-so, but the food will make you overlook that. Highly recommend.

I never had indian food before going there for my birthday this year. The owner was so helpful in finding delicious choices that my family would enjoy!! The Food was so good (the fish dish) and the service was incredible!! I would def go again!!
Carole Price
What an experience!. My husband and two friends just had the pleasure of having dinner at Zeera's. From start to finish the meal was amazing. The atmosphere was most welcoming. The food was fresh, hot and came out quickly. We all had different entrees so we could sample and every single one was delicious. Since I am a fan of hot food Ihad the chicken vindaloo it did not disappoint. Please make reservations soon to give your taste buds a treat. We certainly will be back soon and will tell everyone to give this little gem a try.

"FOODIE ALERT". If you love food as I do, you also love going out and finding a little "GEM". Zeera by the Bay is my newest little "GEM", I heard about this wonderful Indian experience while surfing for something thats not The Keg Kelseys Boston pizza etc... The reviews in this case speak for themselves. Avatar the host was an amazing help almost setting the whole experience up for me and the girls. We had a little of everything and shared, imo this is the way to eat, I enjoyed that nice mild Euphoria that goes with the complete savoury flavours of India, it has been an hour or so since we left and I still have my food buzz! Thanks to Avatar, you have a wonderful staff, a wonderful menu, a spectacular setting that is reminisant of India, good job people it really is the whole package, and if Avatar recommends the Sea Bass try it, it's fabulous, the Zeera Special Chicken to me is the new evolution of Butter Chicken, which we also had. People this is a place you have to go to. You will agree it is a memorable experience.
Niral V
Extremely tasty food. I cannot describe the homely feeling you reciev at this restaurant. Place is a bit congested but the taste and the service outweighs the small con. Looks like a family run business and the food has amazing spices. A must try for everyone. Try the fish tikka and zeera chicken and you will be blown away. For vegans aloo tikki is one of the best I've ever had. To be honest, the friendliness and the attention to the preparation of the food is beyond what you would receive at other restaurants. Definitely going back to try something else.
Cath
The food was absolutely amazing and the service was amazing. We ordered some food for delivery and we were blown away at the quality of everything. The Aloo Ghobi was the best we have ever had! Thank you!
Danny Gackstetter
Extremely friendly owner, hilarious staff, great food!! Awesome ambience fantastic location and the bar tender is pretty cute!!!
David
Best Indian Food Around. We dine at Zeera by the Bay on a very regular basis. The food is fantastic and the staff very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We are vegetarian and find the selection terrific. The owner is always wanting to please his customers and will have his kitchen staff prepare customized dishes for us try. We have recommended Zeera to many of our friends and family and they have all been extremely pleased.
Mel Richard
We had a great time the fish was superb. Service was excellent and thanks to those who gave up their table. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much for the great food and atmosphere.

My family and I had a wonderful meal at Zeera's tonight! Food was exceptional! Service was great! We will definitely come back!

Excellent Curry Restaurant. My wife and I had dinner at the Zeera Restaurant by the Bay on Liverpool Road in Pickering. We had a very good experience. The tandoori sea bass appetizer was absolutely delicious. We followed that with lamb and chicken vindaloo, with rice and roti, which was also excellent. The service was good and fast, and host Avatar was very interested in ensuring we had a positive experience. We are so happy to have a good Indian restaurant in the neighbourhood. We will visit again.

After my wife and I left the cirque du soleil show we were starving. But we wanted somewhere wonderful to eat. The 1st restaurant that came to mind was Zeera by the bay. My wife loves the tandoori chicken. As we drove by it appeared that the restaurant was closed. We continued driving and ended up at Port, which is just about 2 blocks away. As we were seated and reviewed the menu I had an urge to call my friend which is the owner of Zeera. I was right, they were closed. To my surprise Baldeep(owner) said he had not long left and he would be willing to open for us. Long story short. Happy wife, happy life. The experience was nothing short of amazing. Keep up the good work guys. You have my blessings. Ps: I had food left over for the following day. What can I say it's rare that restaurant food tastes good the day after. Zeera's food keeps me craving for more. The only negative. I was very close to divorcing my wife because she wanted to bring the chef home. Enjoy

I absolutely love this restaurant, my husband and I went around closing time and the owner catered to us and stayed open a couple hours later. This Indian food here is the best in the city, it does not get any better !!

Zeera By The Bay. Amazing authentic Indian cuisine. We enjoyed every bite of the Zeera Special Chicken, Zaffrani Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala dishes we shared! We did take out but the restaurant has a very appealing and inviting atmosphere . Great fresh flavours. Can't wait to try other items on the menu!

We live over an hour and a half away but without a doubt it is worth the drive!

Success well deserved. As a fan of Indian Cuisine for many years, i visited Zeera not long after it opened a few short years ago. To say the least, I was impressed. To this point, the "highwater mark" for indian food had always been Mount Everest (which, by the way, continues its long tradition of serving superlative indian cuisine in the East end). Apart from the evident quality of the food - a product of the freshest ingredients and freshly ground spices - I was struck by the enthusiasm of the owners. They were serving up excellent food, they knew it, and they loved to talk about it. I have found that enthusiasm over their enterprise is often directly proportional to the quality of their product, when it comes to restaurants.

I've been back to Zeera several times, and today had lunch there. I could be wrong, but I can't ever remember having such wonderfully warm, fresh, hot naan! Appropriate descriptors fail me. My enthusiasm was clearly evident to the always friendly, talkative owner, who offered me a tour of the kitchen afterwards. There, i was shown how they make their naan. It was clearly an authentic process. A chunk of dough is pressed by hand into a rough oval of about 10" by 5". It is then laid over a bunched-up towel, and then "thwacked" underhand fashion up against the inner brick / stone domed surface of the tandoor. there it sticks for a minute or two, after which its gently pried from the tandoor surface using two long, thin stainless steel rods with flattened ends. The "naan man' then wrapped the steaming naan in a sheet of aluminum foil and handed it to me "courtesy of the house" for enjoyment later on.
Zeera by the Bay has become a successful local restaurant, and they certainly deserve it. Its comforting to see hard work and dedication pay off - just the way it should according to all the "start your own business" books!

Well done folks - and keep up the good work!

Andy

Authentic and Recommended. The food here is very authentic. So much so, that we found it a bit difficult to decide on our order since we're not that familiar with the various names of the dishes. We were also not aware that the menu is set up "family style" and each item on the menu is NOT a single person complete meal.

Each of the meat dishes is actually quite small, and comes in a small silver bowl. There were approximately 10 small cubes of meat in each dish, covered generously with sauce. You'd have to order several mains and sides, and then share with everybody at your table. Had we known this, we would have ordered differently, as what we had ordered was not enough. We asked for "Medium" heat, and it was plenty spicy.

The staff were very friendly. Restaurant itself is very small but it seemed clean.

Would like to recommend that they offer a "dinner for two" or "dinner for four" option for newbies, so that we can sample different meats and sides without having to pick through the vast menu.

Other than that, this restaurant is a good choice if you're looking for tasty Indian cuisine.

Best Indian Cuisine in TORONTO. My husband, baby daughter and I had the pleasure of dining at Zeera By the Bay this evening. What an incredible way to start the new year... The food was AMAZING! The butter chicken (nicknamed by the staff as cocaine butter chicken) certainly surpassed expectation and the Muligatoni soup was by far the best we've had. Both the wait staff and kitchen staff were friendly... The service was fantastic - to the point where my friendly 18 month old daughter continued to waive to a woman in the kitchen and she was so interested in meeting us that she came out bringing a treat for us no less! We have had the chance to enjoy cuisine around the world and when it comes to Indian food in Toronto, this is by far our favourite! Thanks again for the incredible food, service and the experience:)

The Best Food In Durham Region. My husband and I have lived in the neighborhood of Bay Ridges in Pickering for 16 years and have frequented many restaurants during this time. None of these restaurants can compare to Zerra By The Bay in the quality, overall flavour, presentation, and friendliness of the establishment owners. Its an event to eat here as the art of sharing is brought forth in a pleasant & clean environment. The sea bass is spectacular as an appetiser with its bright red color and garnished perfectly on a sizzling platter. It literally melts in your mouth. All the main entrees are served in a variety of delicious sauces where no knives are needed as everything is so tender and cooked to perfection. The art of eating slowly is a way of being here in order savour the fabulous flavour of spices unknown. Its beats the Keg, The Port by far and Masseys to boot! Its our favorite restaurant and we intend to try everything on the menu. You will not be disappointed and its worth the drive even if you don't live in the area.

AWESOME ! ! !. Avtar and Baldeep (owners) are amazing. Extra guests showed up for Sunday dinner last night and extra food was needed. A LAST MINUTE call to Zeera's By The Bay produced two fresh and delicious servings of THE BEST Butter Chicken you will find. It was the hit of the dinner.
Why did I bother to cook at all. Next time the whole dinner will come from Zeera's THANK YOU AVTAR and BALDEEP
-carole and mark

Amazing food, very wise owner. My husband and I went for lunch at Zeera's for the first time on a slow Saturday. The food had layers and layers of flavour - the Saag Paneer was the best I've ever tasted. Because there was no one else in the place, the owner regaled us with tales of coming to Canada, & how he ended up owning the restaurant. We enjoyed his company and his wisdom. This will now be our "go-to" place for Indian food. It beats all the places we've been to downtown by a wide margin.

Best Indian food around. I have had food from Zeera By the Bay for a friends 50th birthday last year but last night I finally got around to going there. I took a friend with me. Wow! The food was even better than when I had it at the birthday. The butter chicken is to die for and the Garlic Naan bread was so fresh. We ended up talking to the owner and the host for about 1/2 an hour. The food is great and the staff are super friendly and recommend what is good if you're a newbie. I will definitely go back again.

Fantastic. We went for lunch today and the food and the ambiance were great! We were helped by the waiter (owner) in choosing a new dish. The new dish as well as our all time favourites were delicious. The cost was very reasonable. We will be back!

Amazing. I first went to Zeera By the Bay after tasting their biryani at a catered event. We had out of country guests and decided to take them out for dinner. What a wonderful experience, food, ambience, hospitality and more....The owner took great care with us and we loved the food so much we went back the very next night!
My family and I have tried many Indian restaurants and have settled on a few in downtown T.O. Zeera far outweighs these places. My daughter just celebrated her 8th birthday and her place of choice for birthday dinner was - Butter Chicken at Zeera. Thank you Baldeep for her lovely pink balloon- we love your food and the care you always take of us. Loyal customers- Wendy and family.

Simply Perfect. Firstly make sure you make a reservation here, once word gets out at how fresh, authentic and delicious this restaurant is you won't be able to get a table. Luckily we did and enjoyed a wonderful meal by an attentive server. All the staff was wonderfully friendly and would check on us at just the right times to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Give this place a try, you won't be sorry!

50th birthday bash. Went with a small crowd recently, food was fantastic, service was terrific, due to # of patrons they had no beef curry left, we tried the see bass and were pleasantly surprised it was brilliant, highly recommend you try this place, best curry house we've tried in Canada.

FANTASTIC!. This place is amazing. We like a number of downtown Indian places and we also go to Little India on Gerrard Street. Their curries, rice, everything is fantastic! Their Naan is the BEST naan we've ever had. The young guys that own this shop are absolutely lovely. We live out of their delivery area, it was a large order and they came out to us and it was AMAZING! We had the Saag Paneer, Vindaloo, Shrimp Curry, Naan, Rice, Pakoras, and we've also been to their DELICIOUS BUFFET. What a wonderful treat this place is!

Special thanks to Zeera. Thanks to Zeera for offering such an outstanding catering service for our house warming party. Our guests loved the food and it made our day really special. I would recommend the service of Zeera to anyone who is considering to have a party or like to dine out at an Indian restaurant. Great job well done.

Delicious. The owners are friendly and hospitable. The food is consistently prepared well and we are always happy to dine in and take out! I lived close to Gerrard in Toronto for many years and I am very pleased to have a local spot like this in Durham.

Food and service was amazing! The best food I've had in a Durham region restaurant. Makes Massey's and the Burbs look like crap! I can't wait to go back. My husband and I were there to celebrate our anniversary. The service was excellent, and the food was even better. I can't say enough good things about Zeera's. I'm looking forward to going back.

Awesome food, hidden gem in pickering of all places. I order take out religiously, but hope to have the time to enjoy the patio soon!
