Review Dante's Gourmet Burrito - Peterborough

A friend recommended this place to me a year ago and it has been hands down one of the best recommendations I have received for a food place. If you have not tried a burrito from them you are missing out. The flavours of the meat, will have you thinking of a home made meal made with home spices. The sauces which are made in house pack a punch. If i could give more stars I would this places is a 10/10 (and I am normally not someone impressed by takeout food). The customer service is amazing, from the chefs to the individual who work in the front. This restaurant did something for me today that I have never gotten from anywhere else. When I was experiencing issues with my delivery service I got first hand assistance from the owner who was more then helpful and went the extra mile (literally) to make sure I got my order. Even after all of that he did not want to take a TIP. But, yes they have the best burritos I have personally tried. Go and try one p.s the Barbacoa bowl is 12/10..thank you once again πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

First time at Dantes and won't be the last! Great food and great portions and a burrito that held together to the last bite!!! A shop with real Canadian values! Thanks You!

Good burritos. Good size and great flavour. Will definitely be going back.

Just had my first Dante's burrito and it was great! Went for the carnitas and it was really good quality and flavour. The sizes are HUGE - regular was the size of most places' large (and only $11!). Toppings were fresh and guac included. Missed the option of refried beans, but that's OK. Oh and the staff were lovely and helpful. Definitely coming here again.

The Ultimate Customer Experience. Hello fellow Peterborough Foodies: Just got back from Dante's a student favourite i'm guessing but I do go by frequently, and always the best service and burritos galore. The manager was right there, and the girl behind the counter was exceptional. The best sliders in town folks.

By far the best burrito in town. Possibly the province. The garlic and habanero sauce is lights out. If you are looking for a good burrito, go get the Barbacoa. You won't be dissapointed!

The food is always fresh and so good! Friendly service. I used to go more often when I worked downtown but will be making a point to go regularly again. Thanks Doug and crew for being awesome!

My partner and I tried Dante's for the first time today. God is real. Heaven exists. We both agree, it was the best burrito we've both EVER had. And then we went back to get another one for dinner (actually). If you pass up on this place, you're doing yourself dirty. Best. Ever.

I moved out of Peterborough a few years ago, and could not possibly forget this place. I have never eaten a better burrito in my life. Their sauces are THE BEST I have ever had. I miss this place so much.

I came here for lunch today while I was in Peterborough on business. I could see Dantes from where I was and read some reviews on urban spoon before I went. Some have said its the best burrito in Ontario. I'd have to say no.... Yes it was good but not the best in ontario. An honest opinion from someone from out of town? Pretty good chicken burrito for a large at the cost of $11.48. Ingredients are fresh, the staff is good and polite. All in all, not bad at all.

I liked my burrito a lot!. Very filling and nice staff. I found the meat quality much better compared to other places.

Addictive. I have tried many different burritos and Dante's is my favourite by far. I can eat it for lunch and go back to get it for dinner. The pulled pork is great. The habanero and lime sauce is amazing!

False advertising and poor customer service. Dante's Burrito has a large flashing LCD display in their window advertising their specials. In reality the prices are $3+ more than the quotes price outside. This fact was only revealed to me after the burrito had been prepared and payment was due. The workers refused to give me the advertised price citing "recent price increases". Very bad business practices.

Skimpy at its best is Dantes. EL CAMINOS IT IS AND LOADED WITH MEAT.

Peterborough's Best By Far!. Delicious, fresh, healthy, homemade, well priced and local. The portion sizes are great if you are at all health conscience. All of the meats are expertly seansoned and have flavour to spare. I love seeing the fresh produce arrive every day at noon. The regular staff are great hardworking and friendly people. You can't beat this place!

Cheers

Cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap. These guys only put a tablespoons worth of hamburger on their burrito.
It's only cheap hamburger for God's sake. If you want more they charge you an extra buck so now your bill is $9.38. Then I don't know why but when they put their sauces on , they pour a ton on. When its heated the bottom is all juicy and sloppy. Messed up like a Dogs breakfast. I won't go back. If your the owner of Dante's then you should know that Jimmy Guaco's is right around the corner. That's where I went.

Best Mexicana in town!. I have eaten at most, if not all the mexican/tex-mex restaurants in town, El Camino's, La Hacienda and Jim Guaco's but Dante's takes the cake! Their food is just so flavourful and the prices are reasonable, you really can't go wrong. I eat here on a semi weekly basis and have been known to make more than one stop here in a day. My favourite is the Chorizo but I have yet to try the fish.

Hands down the best burrito place I've found...and I've tried all the places in Peterborough and quite a few in Toronto. Braised beef is the way too go....have yet to find anything I like better. So much flavor and choices for toppings. Love the fried veggie option. Blows el caminos out of the water. Also if burritos aren't your thing there's lots of other options there....definitely worth a try.

Best Burrito Ever. This is absolutely the best food I have ever had. I love it. Great staff, great ingredients. Go get one right now, you won't regret it.

Worried about others?. Love the buritto hate the staff, the whole time in the place (my first time) all they did was bash the other burrito place (el caminos) and their staff. insted of just being polite. all this complaining just made me want to try this other burrito place. maybe they should stop worrying about the other competition and just work on customer service.

LOVE IT!. Dante's Gourmet Burrito is one of the best places to grab lunch in Peterborough. The staff truly make the experience, and the burritos are delicious. I haven't gotten to try anything else yet because I'm currently obsessed! Pork carnitas.. mmm. Very filling, delicious, perfect & the same every time! Gotta love it.

Delicious!. We went to Dante's Gourmet Burrito for the first time last night, November 21, 2011. The girl who was working explained how it all worked to us, as we told her we had never been there before. As most of the other reviews say, the two employees working were VERY happy and VERY helpful. The didn't look miserable and looked like they were enjoying their job!

I had a chicken burrito, and my husband had a beef and a pork burrito - all were delicious.

It is set up like Subway almost - you can choose your toppings and sauces. It was nice to be able to see everything that goes into the burrito - it is all made right in front of you. The large burritos were $7.99, which is very reasonable given the amount of food you get!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to try something a little different in Peterborough. The price was right, the food was great and the customer service was amazing.

Amazing. Dante's is a wonderful place to eat with amazing service to boot. They don't microwave their ingredients and their cookies are to die for. I give Dante's a 10/10

A Delcious Treat. Dante's is a "build your own burrito" treat in the middle of Peterborough's downtown. The staff are very friendly, the premises are extremely clean. All the ingredients are cooked fresh and prepared at the location by Pat and the other staff.

As a build your own burrito place, diners will find the key elements of a great burrito: tortilla, beans, rice, cheese and grilled meat. Warren, the server, patiently guides diners (and folks needing to dine and dash to the buses) through the various combinations of meat (chicken, pork and beef), beans, veggies (lettuce), sauces and flavours that can be used to assemble your burritos, quesadillas and fajitas. He'll explain that it is easier for him to make burritos using the larger tortilla wraps because they are easier to "weave together after assembly" (thinking wrapping a present with no wrapping paper, just the tortilla) and cook on the grill.

You can ask, within reason, to vary the exact "construction" of many elements of your burrito depending on your appetite, inclination and mood. For example, I eat rice in burritos but sometimes I want less rice. While some think that rice always was a traditional ingredient in burritos, this isn't really true. According to some experts on "authentic" cuisine, burritos were more a combination of beans and maybe whatever chicken, beef, or pork was leftover from the night before. The rice helps to soak up some of the juice from the meat: a meat and bean burrito can be a little limp and a little too juicy or drippy for some. In North America rice has become a typical ingredient and most prefer their burritos that way.

Dante's is fabulous because you can decide, within reason and under Warren's guidance, what you want - a bit of rice or more rice. More sauces or spices or less. What he thinks sour cream will do and won't do for your taste experience. Why he prefers chipotle with certain meats and ingredients and not with others.

The final test: the dining experience. So far I've tried beef and chicken burritos. The food was delicious and the price was very reasonable. Check them out.

Wonderful!. Dante's would have to be my favourite place for a quick meal. I am not usually a Burrito fan, but they won me over. Their chicken quesadillas are great as well! I recently had a chicken quesadilla with cheese, lettuce, and their garlic and onion sauce. It was worth every penny!
I love the fact that everything is made in store, no mass produced sauces with additives, or microwaved beef, chicken etc. Their guacamole is to die for, and the rice is cooked to perfection.
Dante's empolyees are always friendly and look like they are actually happy to be there, I hate when I go to a fast food place and the staff is miserable looking, and your food is just thrown together and away you go. Dante's staff always serve you with a smile and make you feel welcome, your food is always neatly put together, and I have never received the wrong order or had items missing.
I have been going to Dante's for about a month now, and I have never left unhappy.

Keep it up guys, this place is fantastic!

NOT BAD .....BUT. Dante's burritos aren't bad but I feel like I am at the Parkhill and George Subway and the toppings need to be asked for 5 times before there is enough. Seriously they use a little cup for the cheese, at least use the whole cup. Three different times I had to ask for more of a) grilled veggies x 2 b) chipolte sauce, and c) cheese. They grill the burrito so that is the only thing keeping me from going elsewhere. For $8.00 for a large burrito topping should be stacked!!
