Review Two Dishes Cookshop - Peterborough

Happy to have stumbled upon this place. Cute spot with a chill vibe, staff were super friendly and helpful. The salad was probably one of the best salads I’ve ever had in my life. They say you don’t make friends with salad, you’ll make all the friends with this one. I was super excited to try the donuts but was a bit underwhelmed, maybe the flavours just weren’t for me that day. Visually your expectations are set very high but the fritters I found quite greasy. I will certainly try again however, their selection just looked too good not to and between the food and the staff it was still totally a win.

Update Sun Dec 22, 2019: A few days before christmas we revisited Two Dishes Cookshop with some friends, a place we all really loved since we first laid eyes on it on the food network and fell deeply in love when we tried it a year ago. Since returning we can say it certainty that their quality of food has not changed, it is still cooked with well selected ingredients coupled with creative flavours and complementing fresh elements to each dish on their ever-changing menus. In fact, their changing menu is what keeps is wanting more. This time around, we ordered the: Thanksgiving meatball sandwich, a french baguette toasted with homemade meatballs topped with cranberry sauce and gravy within and fries on the side. It was described as “memories of IKEA’s meatballs”, which if you’ve ever tried an IKEA meatball - it speaks for itself. The Classic Breakfast came with 2 eggs, home fries with corn and peas garnished with fresh cherry tomatoes, perfectly cooked bacon and toast. A classic indeed but with a unique flare that differentiates itself from your basic breakfast. The Savoury Pancake (I’ll be honest, I can’t remember the name of this delight) is filled with smoked salmon chunks, vegetables all in a delicious potato casing topped with house slaw and a poached egg with hollandaise sauce on the side. If you’re looking for a hearty brunch that speaks to the soul, this is for you. It’s elements of pan fried keeps you warm but coupled with the creamy and refreshing house slaw and a palette cleansing poached egg is what keeps you wanting for more. Last on our list, we ordered the Pulled Brisket Bowl, it comes with home fries and deliciously slow cooked brisket topped with fresh spinach, cherry tomatoes and a poached egg drizzled with hollandaise sauce. If you’re looking for a rich bowl of perfection, this is it. The spinach compliments the sweetness of the brisket’s sauce and is grounded by the light acid the cherry tomatoes give. All in all, Two Dishes Cookshop is truly a place to try. If you’re ever in town, it's well worth the wait, you won’t be disappointed by the food or drink options and the staff is amazing! 2018: This place was featured on the food network's popular tv show 'You Gotta Eat Here'. Though we went during a time where they didn't have the tv show featured dishes, it was still really good even though the prices seem high it's well worth it because I got 3 meals out of it. (2 if I didn't need picking at it slowly). Worth trying at least once! It is a small place with limited seating so small groups are better and it does get busy quick! The service is also great there! A friendly and comfortable atmosphere for any occasion.

Food was amazing! Fresh! I had the ham and brie sandwich special and was dissapointed I couldn't eat it all! I was too full. Generous portions. Will return. Wait staff friendly and attentive.

Two Dishes Cookshop, Peterborough, Ontario. Food service innovation moving forward living under Covid-19. Our 1st order from their Meat And Three Menu. Graciously packed deconstructed for home reheating/plating. We did sharesies to sample a wide selection of the sides available. On a future visit will explore the menu further & steal away someplace local to enjoy mobile dining (a nearby lock or park). The aromas on our way home were intoxicating. Shrimp Étouffée w/ 3 sides - jalapeno cheddar cornbread - shop salad, smoked ham hock greens, hush puppies Buttermilk Fried Chicken w/ 3 sides - buttermilk biscuit - Mac & cheese, green bean & bacon casserole, tater tots Everything is very tasty, southern soul food inspired cuisine. Couldn't resist adding a couple of their spectacular desserts, for later indulgence. Berry fritters & cranberry white chocolate blondies.

Share a dish!! Because they are big but very very tasty. The staff itself was also very nice, and the place is very cute and niche in style but a bit small. The staff was very nice and knowledgable, and the food, even more amazing. Definitely check it out!

Amazing breakfast and brunch joint serving up dishes that are both massive in size and flavour. Apparently their menu rotates depending on what is in season, but everything on the menu looks great anyways. I ordered the cheddar and bacon stuffed french toast with chorizo gravy and an egg on top. The flavours we're sooo good and the chozio grazy was amazing. The prices here are fair condsidering the portion sizes. Most dishes can easily feed two people. The place itself is quite small so there can be a bit of a wait, but it is most definitely worth it.

This place is a bit unassuming. The decor matches the menu. Simple yet complex. Food was amazing! I had the brisket breakfast. It came in a bowl and thought it was an interesting version if breakfast. Everything sat on a bed of potatoes. The slab of brisket was in the middle oozing juices below topped with eggs and select veggies and herbs. The meal weighed about 700 grams and I was satisfied. They also had brownies which I took on the road. Will come back next time I'm in the area. Hopefully with friends so we can try more of the menu. I forgot to take more pictures cause it was so good. If you haven't been you're missing out.

Horrible service. Puts out the forks and knives in a pile in front of us. I had to set our table. I asked what type of bread they had. "I don't know, whatever they baked today". Brought us coffee, no spoons. I had to ask. They HAD NO MORE SPOONS. This place wasn't even packed and they had no spoons for all their tables. So after I asked, she gave me a soup spoon. A soup spoon. Lol. Why are there not enough standard spoons? Anyways, the food was presented wonderfully, very beautiful. But underneath all the food was burnt peas and potato bits. Disappointing. The "mystery" bread was horrible, soggy, and weird, couldn't tell what ir was, and what about allergies? If the staff can't tell you ahead of time what type of bread it is, who is to say someone doesn't have a serious allergy to the ingredients? The potatos tasted like greasy pancakes. The eggs however were good, like my farm eggs. The coffee was too dark and had a burnt flavour.. Basically avoid this place if you value service and quality, because you won't find it here! Also, the prices are crazy for the service and lack of quality in the food we received. I have attached a picture of my receipt. That was for 2 orders of whatever the heck we picked at!

I always enjoy eating a meal here. Having an allergy to gluten and being able to eat food that tastes so good is the best!! For thanskgiving.... I am so thankful I got to purchase and finally taste a pie that was so delicious ! Salted apple caramel pie was a 10 out of 10 to the chef that baked this for me ��� Thank you so much !!!

My wife and I have been making the 75 minute drive to this hidden treasure ever since seeing this place on You Got To Eat Here and have not been disappointed. The staff is courteous, polite and always making sure you are satisfied. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. The magic that is created in the kitchen is phenomenal. Last night my wife had the Chicken Quesadillas with salad and I had Fettuccine in a mushroom sauce with mushroom, peppers and cherry tomatoes with a side of delicious bread. Both of us left with a full stomach and completely satisfied. We took dessert to go and was so delicious with a cold glass of milk when we got home. Don't let the few negatives reviews sway you away from visiting this place. Can't wait for our next visit.

The atmosphere was lovely and the food was delicious! There were so many good options to choose from however the portions are enormous. I was pleased with my food but it ended up costing me $20 and I only ate a quarter of what I was given. I've got more leftover breakfast food than I know what to do with. It would have been wonderful to have the opportunity to order a half portion for a lesser cost. But honestly other than the family sized portions, the food really is unique and tasty and the homemade soda options are to die for!

We had family visiting and went for breakfast for the first time after being told it was the place to go. It was obvious it was popular due to the line up at the door we encountered on arrival 5 mins to opening. Staff were very accommodating putting two tables together to seat 5 of us (it's very small). We found it incredibly noisy with everyone seemingly yelling to hear one another...cozy it is!) The food was excellent and the portions were very generous and reasonably priced with bottomless cups of coffee. On the flip side, we waited 45 mins to get our breakfast and there was not enough cream or sugar on the table for everyone's coffee ( tiny little creamer pitcher) and when we asked for more the waitress seemed perturbed and although it did arrive, my sisters coffee was cold before she was able to drink it. Small thing but made a poor impression.

Unbelievable. .. I eat gluten free. .. by far the best selection and yummiest in town Yummy! !!

Our favorite restaurant in town! Every dish we've ordered is fantastic and the plates are full!! Breakfast is delicious and very large portions, it is usually enough for breakfast and lunch. Love the people and the vibe, very homey with local ingredients and outstanding food! A must try for any locals or visitors.

The menu is always different, the food is over the top delicious, would high recommend it to all. I had my husbands 60th surprise birthday there, the food was amazing, they do do private events��

Love this place. Excellent and fresh food. Great menu variety. Sugar and spice is my favourite lunch item. I've been several times and always leave happy. Great service and food.

Five stars are not enough! I was really charmed by the cozy atmosphere. The cuisine there is so tasty that I needed to try it again and again. Went for the dinner, breakfast and lunch, respectively. The dishes size live up to the name of the cookshop: they could really fit in two plates. And for the price, your wallet, as your stomach, will really love you. Also, if you meet the nice young lady with long curly hair and glasses, you will enjoy the positively uniqueness that she adds to this place. If I come across Peterborough again, it is a definite sure stop.:)

So good! Loved the queso, loved the breakfast. Amazing service, was able to find parking, a bit loud but that's not unusual in downtown Ptbo restaurants.

So delicious! The menu has a great selection. Cant wait to try every dish! We tried the sugar & spice and shrimp po boy sandwich. So fresh and tasty! Huge portions! Took the carrot cake cheesecake square and lavendar scone home! Cant wait to come back!

This is by far the best breakfast/brunch place in Peterborough. Hands down.

This place is my dream breakfast spot! Delicious and creative and healthy eats, great location, big portions! I love it! I'm not sure why I waited so long to try it! Can't wait to try dinner one day!

I agree with all the other positive comments. Wonderfully creative menu, good service, reasonable pricing, and delicious food. They make their own catsup and breads, for heaven's sakes!

Just the best. If you want something comforting and delicious but a little different this is the place for you! They are tiny so try to get a reservation on the days the take them. They also Cater! Two Dishes Catered my wedding and it was delicious, all the guests still talk about have Amazing the food was!
