This place makes the best tacos ever and they are so great I'll come back here for sure I've been here a couple of time but I will Recommend this place for sure.
We had passed by this one a couple times, during previous trips out to Penticton, and today we finally got our chance to sit and try it for ourselves. This was a taco shop in a parking lot. They shared the area with a stationary burger joint to the front and a travel ready coffee van to their right. The Mexican stand’s yellow exterior painted with black shadows of cactus was easy enough to spot.
While we were waiting for our order a lady exclaimed, "That's the best taco I've ever had!" This really amped my expectations. While not the best I've ever had they are a solid 3.5. The tacos have interesting bursts of flavour- a nice mix of crunchy cabbage topped on supple meats. I had the coconut crusted shrimp and chicken tacos. The preferred the former. Give it a go, it just may be the best taco of your life.
Great place! I make sure I come every time I'm in town. They use local ingredients whenever possible. And the pork tacos with guac are awesome!
Whoa! Nice to find a tacos spot in penticton.
Super friendly staff and a clean kitchen.
I had the pork and beef tacos... they were fantastic. I'm a fan and will be back for more!!
The tacos were a tasty snack! I liked the option of having cilantro, the flavor complimented the other fillings. Nice, casual atmosphere and the owner was very friendly and supportive of local produce. Keep up the good work :)
Not sure if I went to a different place than the other reviews but this place was fantastic. Coconut sweet chilli lime tacos? Sweet jeebus. Pretty sure my tastebuds had a dance party. Mango and pineapple salsa?? Are jou for real? Delicioso! Gosh darn good tacos.
JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS OUT, THEY PULL ME BACK IN.... After leaving my hometown in 1999, I periodically return to visit for nostalgic drives or to visit old friends from times gone by. On the way into town, I noticed a little taco shack had appeared since the last time I was through town, so on the way out I stopped in for a bite (I can't pass up a good taco).
I have done some traveling to a few different regions of Mexico and have eaten from the street vendors on multiple occasions as well as taco shops in Washington, Nevada and California. I am always on the look-out for good Mexican food and especially tacos. I was pleasantly surprised by the "Pulled Pork" tacos here at Tacos Del Norte.
Setting aside my mainland Mexico taco purism, these tacos were really good. The flavour was excellent; my taste buds were being serenaded by a 10 piece Mariachi band as I devoured them with ardent fervour. The side of refried beans had a kick to them that made me want to reach over the counter, grab a couple of handfuls of them (even if they were scalding hot), shove them in my pockets and peel out of the parking stall before they could get a positive ID on my car. Seriously, they were that good...
The only thing that took me a little by surprise was the bill (although all prices are clearly written in plain english, I didn't price it out in my head). I ordered the 3 pulled pork tacos with guacamole and a bottled water which came to just under $19 after 20% tip. The prices were definitely not your average taco shop prices, but the quality of food was absolutely there.
I left with my hunger feeling mostly satisfied, but wanting just a little bit more... maybe a few nachos with some salsa fresca while waiting for those tasty tubes of meaty goodness would have filled the small void left in my stomach as I drove away.
Also, if you could abduct a Mexican family's abuelita for a week and extract from her the secrets to Al Pastor... that would be a welcome addition to the lineup. For legal purposes, you may just want to Google it...
The actual location and exterior of the place is pretty much what pulled me in... they obviously have put a lot of love into this business and it is reflected in the little details. From the authentic exterior colour scheme and simple mural to the excellent flavours of the food, this place really nails it. I will definitely return and try a different menu item. Until then, everyone else come try this place out it. You will not regret it. Gracias por todo... buen viaje!
Fish Tacos are superb. Best fish tacos I have had...fresh grilled cod and lots of healthy, fresh toppings. They make a lot of the sauces etc themselves, so these tacos don't taste like they came out of a can. Soooooo good! Owners are really nice too. Great all around!
Awesome food & great service. Stopped by for lunch and the tacos were fantastic - three thumbs up! Great people, great food - definitely worth a visit.
Loved it! Loved the chatty and engaging staff (owner?), and the very Latino authentic atmosphere. The food was delicious, we had the mixed taco plate, which would have been a very filling lunch for one. Two of us shared it, which wasn't really filling enough for a meal, so perhaps if you are hungry, order one for yourself. The tacos are pretty small, but don't let that take away from the experience. They are delicious (love the sauces!), and we loved the picnic tables outside by the bike trail/Creek.
Five star, and highly recommend.
Very delicious. I enjoyed all his salsas and the mild sauce and hot sauce was nice and spicy. If you don't like spicy stick with the mild. As the other one packs a punch. I liked the chicken over the steak only because the chicken was shredded and held up more flavor. The steak was good but stood no chance paired beside the chicken in my opinion. If you crave good tacos like I do all the time and your walking with your partner downtown in penticton I would try it out folks. I can't wait for the summer!
Delicious tacos! We ordered one set of tacos for 2 of us. They were so deleicous that we ordered another! We will be coming back again before our trip is over! Well worth it!
Absolutely amazing Tacos. Service is super friendly and helpful. Don't let the small size of the 4 tacos fool you, they are quite filling since they are more than generous with the meat you choose, which is cooked perfectly.
Best tacos I've had thus far. I probably wouldn't wanna eat anything else in Penticton since I ate these tacos, but that's just me.
First off, if you've ever been to real taco stand in Mexico, the new owners have nailed it on the head. The food is fresh cooked right in front of your eyes. They have carnitas (pork), asada (beef), and pollo (chicken). I remember the old tacos del norte. I'm pretty sure it was $13 for three 6" tacos. Here it's $13 for four 4" tacos. Portions are literally exactly the same as the old owners. The big difference is in the quality of the food. Everything here is fresh, cooked right in front of you. I'm pretty sure the old owners made everything in slow cookers and your food hung out all day. No, there aren't any vegetarian options, because I'm pretty sure if you ordered a vegetarian taco in Mexico at a taco stand they would straight up laugh at you.
All in all, authentic, really tasty tacos. Ask for them a la mexicana. Meat, onions, cilantro, sauce. The best!
