Review Lachi - Fine Indian Cuisine - Penticton

The food was fantastic and the staff was very knowledgeable and informative. Love the Chai tea to compliment the meal. Definitely, a must goto Indian restaurant and there are alot of great ones in Penticton. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes!

Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. Prices are fantastic for the portions. Mango chicken had just the right amount of sweetness to curry flavours. The texture of the raita was thicker instead of runny and I loved it. Pictured: shaahi paneer, butter chicken, paneer chili

Wow great flavours and very affordable dining, a definite must try. Spicy Dahl, tandoori shrimp and jeera rice with fresh roti. Friendly staff and the kitchen hit it bang on!

Good Indian takeout. We had lamb jalfrezi, chicken korma, rice and naan - all good. For me the sauces both a bit too sweet, but my wife liked that - so depends on taste I guess. Good portions - enough for lunch tomorrow! Thanks.

The food was incredible! I would definitely come back and recommend them. The food was also done very quickly and not super expensive. I was very impressed

Wow Lachi! I'm happy to say this was the best Indian meal I have ever had. Very impressed. Next time I am in the Okanagan I will definitely be coming back 😀

Amazing Indian food. We ordered the dinner special for 2 and had the Paneer Butter Masala and Lamb Rogan Josh (this lamb dish was SO good!!). The garlic naan bread was also delicious. Love supporting this family establishment.

I have been to Lachi multiple times. It is a favorite for Indian food while in pentiction. Great dishes, food is always very flavorful and great quality and quantity is good also. The garlic nann bread is fantastic!

By far the best indian food I've ever had. Known throughout the region as exeptional and always beyond the par. Medium heat actually means medium, the spice profile is so profound, the heat does not overpower the spice profile. The curries are all unique and the meat is perfectly cooked so that it shreds but dose not loose structural integrity, which was always a dream i thought could never occur in a curry. We always stop in twice whenever in the vicinity and nothing in my hometown of vancouver, ever compares.

Found two pieces of totally raw chicken in what was supposed to be Chicken Korma. My girlfriend spat out one of the pieces on her first bite. Brought it back to them as they wouldn't answer the phone and after some arguing, eventually got a 15 dollar refund on a 60 dollar order. Out of safety, I will never be eating here again. I've attached a picture as proof.

While staying in Penticton we dropped by Lachi for dinner on a Sunday evening. We were seated immediately by a very friendly and helpful staff member. We ordered the Mix Veggie Platter (1/2 order, but lots of food), Dal Makhani, Channa Masala, Jeera Rice, and Peas Pulao. Our server provided recommendations and asked us how spicy we'd like our dishes.

Our appetizer was delivered quickly and was very good. Another server made sure our waters were refilled often. Our main courses were delivered shortly afterward and were delicious.

We were unable to finish everything because we had ordered so much food. However, our server had the rest of our food boxed up along with plastic utensils because we were travelling.

Aside from the food being great, I have to compliment the wonderful service. It was attentive, helpful, and very friendly. Thank you to both of our servers. We will definitely come back to Lachi on our next visit to Penticton. Highly recommended!

Called my order in at 5:45. Was told it would be ready in 30. Arrived at 6:15, and not sure if it had even been started. Stood around in the restaurant for another 25 minutes. Got food back to the place and beef korma had exactly zero pieces of beef in it. Called, went direct to message. Called again, left a message explaining issue and requested a callback. Called 6 more times over the next hour, always straight to message. Never a callback.
Food was quite good, but service was an utter disaster.

What a great place to eat! It is a small place that is tastefully decorated and provides a warm relaxing atmosphere. Cozy without being stifling.
The staff were very welcoming and able to provide suggestions and recommendations for someone with a lack of experience with Indian cuisine.

The last time I had Indian food I ordered a lamb dish and it was mutton older than I was. Needless to say I was hesitant about trying it again.
I had the Rogan Josh and it was amazing! The lamb was young and tender, the spices were delicious. The rice was not dry like some restaurants have. I know rice is rice but it was good. The naan bread was very fresh and quite tasty.

Bottom line, I can't wait to go again.

Freakin yummers. Had the veggie samosas and they were some of the tastiest I've ever had. Great balance with spices. The butter chicken was very good, not the best I ever had. The lamb saag was super tasty tho. Best indian food in the Ok area I've had. Highly recommended!

Next Best To Homemade!. I love Indian food but it's very hard to find truly authentic, delicious Indian food around. I've been to all the Indian restaurants in Penticton and Victoria and I can say the majority of them were awful imitations of Indian food. For someone who has spent her life around people from India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Pakistan, I can say nothing ever tops homemade food! However, Lachi restaurant has a fantastic menu with even better quality food! I've been here several times and have never been disappointed! A testament to how good they are is how full the restaurant always is. I was seated at a table for 6 that had 4 other people there because there was no where else to sit. I had no problem, we all had nice conversation and enjoyed our food. :)

I highly recommend this to anyone who wants authentic Indian cuisine where you get large portions for the price you pay. Fantastic!

Highly Recommended. We are regulars because of the consistently delicious foods we enjoy here. Recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Jalfrezi, and the Chole Bhaure. The Naan is the best I've tasted anywhere in the Province.

Consistenly great!. Whenever I visit family in Penticton, if we're celebrating birthdays, holidays, etc. there must ALWAYS be Lachi's. My personal favourite is the Chicken Korma with a giant piece of fresh garlic naan.

Butter Chicken and Spinach Garlic Naan. I have it every time
R2sharky
Our favorite. Love this family run place. We are regulars who love East Indian dining. Not fancy decor but consistently good curry's. Don't bother ordering a mixed drink/cocktail. Not their forte. Excellent naan breads. Yum!

Lunch specials are good...decent price. Can't ask for more from a small city.

Not that great. I found it okay was a little disappointed was not hot enough a little bland and the appies were not that great either. The services was too slow didn't get any water refills at all and had to go to the counter to get another drink. My beer was discussing it had gone skunky. I have heard good things about this place but overall not happy

Recent Experience. I'm sorry about you recent experience at our Restaurant. We were extremely busy on Saturday and were short staffed. We just hired new staff and that's what caused the confusion. There was also a big group of customers sitting by the bar and was blocking the view to your table. Once again I sorry about you recent experience at our restaurant and hope you will give us another chance to make it up to you.

First time we went we were very impressed. Food was pretty good. We came back to Penticton and craving some good Indian food came back. No service! After 15 minutes with menus we got tired of being ignored and seeing other tables that were coming in being served. This is a small restaurant and we were very visible. They were not that busy so we left and went elsewhere. Nothing worse than that level if service

Best Indian Food in Penticton. If you want to try excellent Indian food Lachi's is the place to go. Not only are the staff, owner nice and friendly but they give fast service.
My favourite is the Saag, Lamb, Chicken, or even Beef Saag, all I can say is mmm mmm :)
It is always hot and fresh!

Can't go wrong. We go regularly, and usually do the two can dine for 29.99 or the lunch special. The garlic naan is always nice, and so far my favourite is the beef rogan josh; such tender beef! Really good value and tasty food. The service is pleasant but they don't pester you, which is nice.

Authentic and good Indian food. Had the 30.00 special with a veggie pakora (sp) appy. very good on all accounts although the servers were brand new and it showed. the food was very nice and the appy flavour was among the best i have ever had. good solid choice and I can recommend.

Fantastic food!. On reading other reviews I noted that "Foodie" was pretty negative in his/her opinion of this restaurant. He stated his fiancé was East Indian so he was familiar with Indian food. I AM East Indian and grew up eating the food. I was astounded to discover he was not happy with the place or the food. In my opinion the food in this restaurant is terrific! We go there on a regular basis and have never had a bad meal. The staff are also friendly, efficient and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Yum!. Went in for my first time at lunch, quaint, simple atmosphere, Carly my server was at my table with a menu, before I had my coat off.
People kept coming in, and most knew what they wanted without looking at the menu. This told me lunch was going to be good.
The butter chicken arrived quickly and was delicious. Service was great throughout my meal.
I will be back to sample other dishes.

Top of the line food. Great service. The owner was really kind. The butter chicken was exquisite--- tasted very fresh and healthy. Nothing is westernized, it tastes very traditional and authentic:. Worth the drive in the snow from kelowna... Amazing!!! 10/10!
Tina
Love the food, prices and friendly service!

Fabulous Indian Food! Try ice cream. Got the special - $29.95 for dinner for two, including two dishes, raita, naan, and salad. The salad was an ordinary green one; the raita and naan were very good; my lamb saag was superb, and my husbands meal was very good. (We had enough for our lunches the next day and got to enjoy our wonderful main dishes again.) We finished off our dinner with some Indian ice cream with pistachios that was truly memorable. Unfortunately, we live three hours away. If we lived nearby, this place would definitely become one of our favorite choices for meals out. Good value, good service, great food.

Delicious, tasty curries and great naan. What else do you need in an Indian restaurant?

Great food. Had the Lamb Sagg which was nicely spiced and came with basmati rice. The Naam bread was also very good

Excellent! Large portions, reasonable prices and the food was mouth watering.

Went here about 3 months ago and the butter chicken was very good. Just went here again today for the same thing and again, it's very tasty. 10 out of 10!

It was okay... We ordered the garlic naan which was excellent. For the main we all ordered butter chicken, what can I say? The serving dishes were nice, the dish itself was only so so, the sauce looked and tasted like tomato soup, it really lacked in flavor.

Excellent food is worth waiting for, and that is the case at Lachi. Reasonably priced, Lachi is a Penticton gem that should not be overlooked.

Definitely the best in the Okanagan, always consistent always good
Warren
Excellent! Great Mali Kofta. Overall close to as authentic as Best of india in Oliver. Prices are reasonable

Really Great Food. My Wife and I have been to Haveli three times so far. I am new to the world of east Indian food and a real crybaby when it comes to spicy hot food. Every meal we have had there was wonderful we absolutely love the food. The waiter was prompt in serving us, arriving at the table with water and menus just as we sat down. I ordered the Lamb Korma which was a little hot for me because I ordered medium heat . It was good though so I toughed it out and found it very tasty. I have learned that weenies like me should order mild at Haveli
The naan bread is out of this world. I like it enough to order two orders each time we go. Its one of the main reasons I like to go to Haveli. The sauce for the butter chicken is amazing, except for the first time I had it. Not Haveli's fault as it was my first east indian meal ever. So I neglected to specify the Heat of the spices. You can specify from one to five but I didn't know that and assumed that it was from one to ten So I ordered five which I figured was medium. The stuff was like liquid lava and had me tearing up gasping for cool air and unable to speak. My wife thought I was having a heart attack. After a naan bread or two I was able to tell her it was just the spices. I'll never make that mistake again. I am a confirmed #1. My Wife who can eat the real spicy #5 hot stuff without batting an eye finished my lava hot spicy chicken proclaiming it superb. Meanwhile I was still off crying in the corner. Yesterday I ordered mild butter chicken and was in absolute heaven. Man is that stuff good. The chicken was tender with great texture not dried out or tough like a lot of places do. There was plenty of very tasty sauce She also had some chicken Samosas and gave me one. They are done very nicely with just the right amount of crispness and very flavourful. Their menu is very extensive with many many Strange dishes I have no idea what they are but the food and service is so good here I will be back again and again as I try out a different dish each time I go. My only complaint is that as you enter the quite dark decor gives me a feeling that they have just turned out the lights. When you sit at a table its plenty bright enough as they have pot lights that shine on the table from above which lights up your meal wonderfully but leave the rest of the restaurant a little dim. Not really bad enough a problem to worry about.

This pleasant Punjabi restaurant sits on the old part of Main St in downtown Penticton in the heart of the Okanagan. The smell upon entering this place is fantastic. The food tastes better than the restaurant smells. As far as Indian food I have had the pleasure of eating some of the very best in the world. I would give this place a high 7, just a tad bit more emphasis on curry and blending the spices a tad stronger it would be a solid 10. Very good!

Yummers!. Love this place. Eat in or out. They're kid friendly. Lots of veggies, spiced perfectly to your taste, fast for take out!

My faves: Malai Kofta, Muttar Paneer, Veggie Biryani, and the kids love the Veg. Korma.

Again, yummers!

Great!!. Wow this food was amazing! My boyfriend and I go in at any opportunity for 'date night'. The service is always great and the food is amazing. It really has that 'family' feeling, no matter who you are.

The dinner specials are always a good bet.
And do try the Lamb Saag!!

They'll make it to taste for you too if you don't like heavy spice, or they'll make it authentic style for the braver cuisine lover.

I can't wait to head back.

True Taste Of India. I have been to a lot of indian cuisines but Haveli is one of the best places. Great food, Great prices, Great service.
