The foods are fresh and quite delicious, also it came in a relatively quick time.
Their service was also awesome and attentive.
About the ambience, it would be better for this restaurant to do some repair on wall and renew the wall-paint.
The price of the food is fair and quite cheap.
We love the food at sushi kan. Quick and fresh when it arrives. Staff is excellent, attentive without being annoying. Restaurant needs a new coat of paint and some wall repairs BADLY, but overall it is an excellent place to eat
Love it!. This is my go-to place when I needs my sushi fix!! I've never had a bad experience with the food - and I eat a lot there! I'm craving butterfish now!!
Be warned; the service could be better.
Good quality food..... Good service....highly recommended.
Yummy sushi. Although it does not have the best sushi ever, it's a pretty good place to treat ourselves nicely with all-you-can-eat sushi and sashimi. but they should improve their menu, get more exciting things
Soooo gooood!. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Been to Sushi Kan around ten times in the last 5 years for special occasions and the sushi is always fresh and the food is alwAys so good! Perfectly sized portions and everything on the menu is worth trying. 5 stars!!
I enjoy the Sushi Khan on Innes more than the Baseline location. We found a sheet metal screw in the Orange Chicken!!!
Its decent. I have eaten here a few times and for an AYCE sushi place is pretty good. I have had some good meals and some questionable ones but overall I'd say its a good option when you want to get your fill. There are better sushi places for date nights where quality and atmosphere are more important, but when I want my AYCE sushi fix, this place is a good option.
As good as all you can eat sushi gets in Ottawa. Lots of options and nice atmosphere.
Coworkers and I went to Sushi Kan for lunch today. While the service wasn't excellent, there were no huge issues. I am no connoisseur of Sushi so I cannot say how good it is compared to other Sushi restaurants. I can say that I enjoyed all the dishes I tried.
Food was pretty good. I like Hockey Sushi and Hokkaido better. Great service!
Finally - some real sushi in Ottawa!. After much searching (in person and through UrbanSpoon) i happened upon Sushi Kan. Decided to give it a try today for lunch - and went for AYCE - what the hell! Well - i was not dissapointed! Heard some mixed reviews, but my first visit was definitely positive. Here is why:
1. Menu options galore! Not only do they have sushi - and lots of options, but they have some Thai, Chinese and Korean options as well. Almost enough to overwhelm the faint of heart - but not me... :) Didnt get to try half of the stuff i wanted to so will definitely be back. They had quite a few specialty rolls that i would love to try - but one can only eat so much in one sitting...
2. Quality for AYCE - not too shabby. Dont get me wrong, i have definitely had better quality sushi but for an AYCE - this one is quite comparable to some AYCE i used to love in Vancouver. The tempura was done as tempura should be - perfect crispiness and not overbattered like all the other tempura i've tried here lately. Tempura shrimp is also on the menu - this did not even happen in Vancouver! Fish was fresh and portions were OK. Some really interesting rolls/cones to try - spicy/crispy salmon was my fav so far.
3. Value - a big plus in my books. I got my fill for just under $17 (incl tax and a $2 tip). Yes for lunch thats a bit steep - but definitely better deal than ordering a la carte.
Service was so so - they were absolutely packed so its understandable for AYCE service. I've had much worse.
I will definitely be coming back - and bringing friends. This way i can try more menu items - and get some more people exposed to the way sushi should be!
Bit Pricey, Good Food. Like the title says, the food was good. They balance "spicy" nicely for us westerners without making the food bland or super non-traditional. The Wasabi could have a bit more kick, but I suppose they're playing it safe. The price was a bit much though, maybe could have been 10-15% cheaper. They also mixed up the orders of our table and the one beside us, but we figured it out fairly quickly and just sent the stuff back or forth whenever it arrived.
I LOVE Sushi Kan. This place is so delicious! Huge selection of sushi to choose from, and it's all fresh and delicious.
Try the Spicy/Crispy rolls. So good! The Yummy Yummy Roll is also one of my favorites if you like deep fried rolls.
If you've never been to All You Can Eat Sushi, I suggest ordering in waves. Order a few rolls, eat them, then plan your next few rolls, and so on. If you order all at once, you''ll run into fullness, and you'll order too many! I've done this, and since it was my first time, the waitress was easy on me. (You normally pay for everything you DONT finish, full price!)
The only criticism I'd give them is their lack of ginger/wasabi put on the table, but you can always ask for more. Not sure if they charge for it or not. They also offer low salt soya sauce, which you'll need when you're eating that much sushi.
The staff is not as friendly as they could be, but they're pleasant enough.
Fun place to go with friends. Recently it has been renovated I guess?
I found that the menu selection got larger and rolls were better than before.
Many people complain about the poor quality of sushi, but it's like looking for a decent pasta in a buffet.. :(
All-you-can-eat restaurants are here for quantity over quality... you have to look for quality else where.....
I still enjoy this place whenever I'm craving for shrimp tempura!
For what I would consider fast food all you can eat Sushi, you can't beat the price. The rice cooked properly not over cooked and not mushy, the fish seems fresh no smell or fishy taste, like I have had at other places.. Where's the tuna, sure there are 2 or 3 tuna dishes but only on the weekends and holidays. For those just getting into sushi a description of the items would be nice. I know enough to get me by and I had a few questions about some of the rolls. The servers we more than happy to help. I did find you needed to keep track of what you order as some items did not arrive at my table such as General Tao's chicken which was really good and I could have ordered 2 of them..Next time I am in Ottawa I will be eating here again.
The other Sushi Kan. It's very consistent with the Innes location. The food is very good by ayce standards. I like the salmon roses and the crispy salmon rolls the most. Ayce tempura prawns don't happen in Van and I can't get enough of those either.
All-You-CAN-eat. I always overdo it at Sushi Kan. Something in the place brings out my competitive side.
For All-You-Can-Eat it is okay sushi - not 'blow your mind amazing' but for 12$ lunch... Better Value than elsewhere.
Whenever I feel like over-eating and consuming a lot of fat I come here. This is a fun place to come with a bunch of friends and order as many things on the menu as you can. I only come here when I feel like over-eating and consuming a lot of calories and fat. My favourite items are their tempura yams and spicy beef udon. I'm not too kicked on the sushi items themselves. It seems like they are better at making everything else. The service is quick. You get your orders one after the other, just keep track.. I've never had a problem with anything missing but you never know. Anything you don't eat you pay for so try to order 1 quantity to start with in case you don't like it. (or bring a big bag and shove it in your purse!) haha.
First sushi buffet I went. This is the first sushi buffet I went to. It was delicious the first time and even if they changed a bit.... it is still very good. I can't say it is the best but it is darn good!
Not just sushi. Great place to go if not everyone in your group likes/wants sushi. The menu has enough chicken, pork, beef, veggie, rice and noodle items to fill up my 6'2"/275lb hubby who doesn't like fish! LOL
Our favourite place. We've come here often. Decent price, good food. The jump in price for dinner doesn't get enough bang for the buck, but the lunch price is a good deal. They've improved alot after switching to a digital listing of your orders. When we first came we would get items we never ordered, and never get the things we did. Now there are no problems. I would highly recommend this place.
Really amazing all-you-can eat. Not a lot of parking, but the food is amazing. Very extensive menu and the service is good. Best sushi!
Not bad pretty good actually. Good food, courteous service, popular and busy, service was quick, even on second course, too much MSG so headache followed. Veg tempura was good but veg pieces too large for my taste, great wasabi, spicy crispy rolls are great, and the salmon pizza was a very nice surprise, try it and be surprised too.
The best sushi I've had in Ottawa! Good, and fast service.
Yummy Yummy!. This really is a great all-you-can-eat sushi experience. I live in Barrhaven, where we have 1000 Sushi Islands, also a great place to go for all-you-can-eat, but the menu at Sushi Kan is more all-comprising and the yummy-yummy rolls are simply to die for!! When we want quick, close to home sushi, we stay near home, when we want better quality and those yummy-yummys, Sushi Kan it is. Plus, the price is really reasonable.
Did I mention the yummy-yummy rolls???
It is amazing my friend and I go there every week for the amazing sushi and courduous staff, friendly enviroment we both love it so much and definatly recomend it :)
Sushi Yum Yum. Excellent Sushi made right in front of you. Other menus items are great as well. The hot n sour soup is spicy & delicious. The service is great, but a little slow when busy. Pricey, but worth every penny.
YUM-O!. Best sushi in Ottawa, hands down. 1000 Island Sushi sucks in comparison. Even the Innes Rd. location is not as good as this one on Merivale and Baseline.
The rolls are FANTABULOUS, namely Dynamite, Spicy/Crispy Tuna, S/C Butterfish, S/C Salmon, S/C Avocado.
Shrimp tempura is a must. If you like cooked foods, the Veal spare ribs are good as is Orange Peel chicken.
The Salmon or Tuna Pizza is very good as well.
The only drawback of Sushi Kan is they don't always serve everything that was ordered. I always keep a copy of the platters that we ordered at the table so I can cross them off as they arrive.
Not bad. This is the only place I've ever had white tuna, it's tasty. The service is a little slow, the food trickles in at a leisurely pace.
Not bad for all-you-can-eat. Very fresh. Tip:order more in first run since subsequent runs seem much slower. Pricing best value is lunch but kids pricing too steep
Waiting. Many of the staff sometimes don't seem grateful at all. They do their job well, and provide delicious food regardless. Their attitude isn't all that big of a deal.
This is one of the first AYCE sushi places that came to Ottawa and the first one that I went to. What I liked about it then (and even more now) is that there are so many options for the non-sushi eater. They have recently added even more items. We tried the Bulgogi-Korean beef which was very good and true to the Korean flavours. The cooked grilled salmon roll was seasoned and delicious. The seaweed salad was wonderful - flavours of sesame, wakame and touch of chili.
