Probably the best of 3 popeyes locations in Ottawa. Even though it was extremely busy during dinner time on a Friday night, we were still in and out of there within a matter of minutes. Food was cooked perfectly. No complaints here. I used to visit the Hunt Club location as it is closer to my house but this location is worth the extra 10 minute drive. Good job
Went for dinner (~6pm) and the place was packed. Most of the seating was taken (though I did get a seat) and there was a line.
I had a 3 piece mild chicken combo with onion rings and a biscuit. The chicken and rings where good but the biscuit was amazing. Every bite of the biscuit tasted like there was butter involved while staying fluffy and not greasy.
The chicken and (surprisingly) the onion rings had a slight hint of Cajun spice flavour to them, despite my ordering mild. I'd guess that is not unusual.
The chicken was greasy (as fried chicken is going to be) but not nearly as greasy as KFC. It was good and different than what I'm used to.
If I do go back (soon at least) it will be to order a dozen of the biscuits.
I said this about the Popeyes in Gloucester and I'll say it here. My fiancee is from the American South and down there, fried chicken is a religion. Chains are everywhere and Popeyes is somewhere around the middle, according to her. Naturally she was extremely excited about Popeyes finally coming to Ottawa.
This place is head and shoulders above any other fried chicken place in Ottawa. KFC, St, Hubert, Chubby Chicken, all those place cant hold a candle to Popeyes chicken. Its not greasy, proper amount of saltiness, the sides are fantastic and its not all that much more than any other place.
I know Im biased but if a born and bred American southerner says this fried chicken is the best shes had in Ottawa Im going to believe her. And ive had it myself many times and I grew up thinking Chubby Chicken was great, never going there again. Popeyes is well worth the wait
