Such authentic Indian flavours in Ottawa. Just loved the food and the staff is also very welcoming and great ambience. Must visit.
Not the best butter chicken in the city, but it's not bad. They are very generous with the portions. Although the butter chicken is the only menu I've tried, I've been advised it's probably the only one worth getting. Curious to try the mango lassi to see if it's any good though, so would revisit.
AMAZING FOOD. AMAZING SERVICE. It was delicious I haven't ever eaten anything so delicious in my life. So much flavor, such nice people! I've even been to India and this is an amazing restaurant.
Loved the samosas! Loved the vindaloo! Very clean restaurant! Friendly service! Great price! Will return!
Best Butter Chicken!. This place has the best butter chicken in Ottawa. My friends and I go here all the time, the owner is always nice and offers us free desserts, drinks, and conversation. Not only is the food great, but it's priced fairly too (lunch special). I love this place and will be coming back for sure. Can't recommend it enough.
VINDALOO SWEATS!. If you need to get a good spicy sweat goin' and your motto is "the hotter the better" then I strongly recommend their chicken (or beef) vindaloo! We love the family that runs this place and the atmosphere is really nice. Prep to spend about 25 - 40 bucks on two people...and don't forget to take home some extra Samosas and NAAN bread!
Great Food!!!. After reading reviews we decided to give Indian Express a try while visiting Ottawa.
The food was great. Ordered Butter Chicken (I've had better but it was good) and Rice, Naan bread and some samosas. The lady at the counter said that she didn't think that would be enough food for 2 of us so suggested we add chick peas to it. Which we did.
I found the chick pea curry too spicy for me but my husband liked it.
Though for $41 I didn't think it was overly cheap.
There was way too much food for 2 of us to eat and staying at a hotel much of the food was wasted.
I will return. Butter chicken was excellent and the mango lassi was exactly how I like it. I can't wait to try more of the menu.
Some of the best Ottawa has to offer. Excellent taste and price.
This place serves the best butter chicken I have ever tasted. I have been to numerous Indian restaurants and this place is by far the best. Will never go anywhere else for Indian food.
I was totally surprised at how good the food from this little hole in the wall was! This may be the best Indian I'v had in Ottawa- it is my new fav place and it will be my go-to for indian from now on. We ordered chicken tikka, butter chicken, daal and veg korma. Everything was perfect except the samosa's - they were dry and too doughy.
Amazing. I cannot understand the lady who gave this place a negative.. she's probably from some rival place and completely off the mark. This place is a beautiful little nugget. Admittedly a small place .. it actually reminds me of Schwartz of montreal. The food is amazing and speaks for itself. The serving couple kind courteous and sweet. I went with my entire family for the first time and completely amazed at the service and quality of food. The food is authentic as you would find it in shops of Pakistan or India and can rival the best of them. I think it's a gem everyone should try.
Beef currey is excellent. Not tried everything on the menu, but for take-out curry, it is really good. Whether the butter chicken should be all white meat or dark is a discussion point amongst a number of friends. Our east Indian friend's insist it should be white, but alas, at the Indian Express it isn't.
Best Butter Chicken I've had. Let me tell you a story about Indian Express. I was at the Tim Hortons at the Ottawa Airport casually talking to my friend about how great the Butter Chicken at this place is when suddenly 3 random strangers perked up and started to agree with me. When something so spontanious like that happens you know you should at least give it a try.
Try the Samosa combo- amazing!
Love these folks. The food is honest and simple.
A friend (thanks LY) let me know about this place. I love Indian food, but sometimes find a buffet too much. Not because of the food itself, but simply due to my lack of self control when presented with so many chafing dishes brimming with wonderful curries and sauces. (I need a moment...)
