Cozy, friendly place; great variety of tasty soups, rice and noodle dishes, including pad Thai. Better than average pile of cilantro, basil, and sprouts for your phó, but no chilies or fish sauce. Worth coming back to.
Enjoyed the meal at this classic Vietnamese joint. We started with Thai style spring rolls and pork spring rolls. Both were enjoyable. Pork spring roll had a lovely seasoning. I ordered the vermicelli bowl with bbq pork, shrimp, chicken, which was served with fish sauce and sitting on veggies (lettuce, carrots, cucumbers). My husband and sister both order chicken pho. One great feature is the ability to order the pho in a variety of sizes, to suit your appetite. Will return. Not sure if all the pho bo ga la's are related, or why there are so many with the same name in the Neighbourhood...
Classic viet joint. This place is great and almost always packed whenever we go here. Probably the best viet food. The prices are what they are so make sure to order what u like
Best Tum Kha Soup (S11) I usually only get it with shrimp only with rice noodle. It tasts Amazing!! The only thing is, they never give water! The soup can be a bit spicy so the water is a must. The amount is fairly generous. Also sometimes, the only down side is the broth has pieces of fat. It makes the experience unpleasant. But overall, its tasty
I ordered a large custom Beef Pho with well done beef, beef tendon, and beef tripe. The portion as usual was huge and packed with a VERY generous portion of meat. The broth was rich and not overly salty. The noodles were perfectly cooked and delicious as well. I have been to Hanoi, Vietnam and had authentic Pho, and I can confidently say that this is some of the best Pho you can get in Ottawa. And at $10.99 for a large Pho, it's a bargain.
A quick late supper after a long day of class. I opted for the medium 46 which was egg noodle pho with BBQ pork and seafood. I had asked to add extra veggies but they forgot to add them. The broth was fragrant and flavourful but was still very salty. A bit more expensive than the other pho joints but they have a more extensive menu.
As an out of towner I wasn't quite sure what to expect from a Vietnamese restaurant in Ottawa. I was looking for a place open super late as I had just arrived. This place was one of the busiest restaurants at the time so I gave it a shot. I ordered a rice dish and do have to say it tasted authentic and just like some of the better Vietnamese places I've been to. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good Vietnamese food in Ottawa.
Poor service, good pho. Came for late night pho after Bluesfest rush - to be fair, the restaurant was as packed as it would be during a lunch rush hour. They seemed to be low on staff, but even so - pho doesn't take long to make unless they somehow ran out of broth. We waited very long for our food - people beside us that came later got served earlier. We asked for ice water but they forgot. Usually I have a better experience with service, but based on my recent experience the service was poor.
That being said, the pho is actually good. My second favourite place for pho after Pho Thu Do down the street. Pad Thai is sweet and salty - the typical Vietnamese way of making pad thai and comes with generous portions. Shrimp wonton is thick on batter, but is at a good low price as are all their appetizers.
A favourite for years!. My family and I have been eating here for years. It can't beat homemade, but it's still very good. I recommend the pho and bun bo hue, everything else I find pretty average.
No complaints at all about service, it has always been very friendly.
The best. My girlfriend and i have eaten at "almost" every pho place on Somerset over the years.
Without any doubt this is one of the best Pho spots in Ottawa. The only place we prefer is right next door with the RED SIGN "Pho LA Fusion"- it's the same owner!
Rare Beef Noodle every pho place, every time.
This place is always busy, which is a good sign. The food is cheap and good. The spring rolls are authentic and tasty. I've only tried the shrimp satay soup, which was good (not that spicy however). Will try the pho next time I'm there.
I go here all the time. I usually get the rare pho beef noodle and shrimp Spring Rolls. It's consistently good, fast and their prices are great. The service isn't overy friendly, but they are fast and efficient. This is my fave Vietnamese restaurant for sure.
Bun is amazing! Meat is always perfectly BBQ'd and presentation is always beautiful. Can't get enough!
Mmm. My girlfriend could take it or leave it, but for Vietnamese(not pho), this is my favourite place in town. They have a chicken and beef plate with rice that's delicious. Great portions, wonderful spices and seasoning, and a good price.
Good food at a good price. $17 for dinner including pho with rare beef and crispy shrimp roles to start and tip. Service was fast and the food was good. Its small and basic and there is a tv on the wall in case thats not something you like.
