It was a great pleasure to see our non-vegan friends fall in love with your food! For the animals, thank you
It's $5 for students. The place is all good vibes and it's all in amazing intentions. Thank you
AMAZING PLACE!. This place is amazing! The food is awesome! but even better yet is that it's a non-profit temple... Very humble owner, Shankar!
Peaceful. Govinda's, as every other review notes, is located inside a Hare Krishna temple. You are asked to enter, take off your shoes, and sit down for a cheap, all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet. The buffet is relatively small, with maybe 6 or 7 items total. I remember a lightly oiled pasta, a few types of curried lentils and veggies, a soup, and some wonderful rice (jasmine, maybe?). For desert, there was an excellent loaf of a banana bread.
The food was tasty and I filled myself to the brim. The price is $5 for students or $7 otherwise, but I got the impression that it was more of a "suggested donation" than anything. I don't think the restaurant is a for-profit business, but rather a cost-recovery service that the temple offers.
I think the thing I liked the most is that the place was quiet and friendly, in keeping with the values of those who ran it. For me, it was like a 30 or 45 break from city life, and at that price, it's no more expensive than making food at home.
Fantastic slightly spicy vegetarian. Not alot of variety but fresh, filling delious and all you can eat.
Im not a vegitarian but I went there, took off my shoes paid the five dollars and filled my belly with delicious rice and desert! Great vibes!
Best of Ottawa. Simply delicious. Friendly place, warm and cozy. 5 dollars all you can eat.. Real food. I miss this place so much ! The apple cake is delicious! Be careful it is only open on week days, limited hours. Vegan paradise!
