Shekarchi Express rocked my world!! I honestly can't say enough about the food here. We showed up late, at 7:30pm and they close by 8. The owner was very kind, warm and inviting and told us to take our time. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. Once you try their food you quickly look past the wobbly table and folding chairs. We ordered Joojeh Kabob, Koobideh Kabob and Barg Kabob (Filet Kabob). Everything was cooked to perfection, just so perfect. The place smelt so good too, kitchen is right there, close to the tables. I couldn't get over the flavours!! They truly know what they're doing. I was full but couldn't stop because it was just that good. Almost ten years in business, this placed should be packed every night. I can't wait to go back!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

By far one of the best and most authentic Persian foods I've had in my life. I was visitng Ottawa and was craving Persian food. Went in and tried this place out. Ordered jooje kabab and was not disappointed by the presentation and taste. Supreme quality. Friendly staff. Wish they had other branches, even one in Toronto.

One of the Best Persian Kebab places I have tried in Ottawa. The meat is always fresh, juicy and tender with generous portions. Vaziri dish is mostly recommended with an appetizer of Mast'O Khiar.

This place is a small resturant with few menu orders. They have the best iranian food. Vaziri is the dish you want to order. It comes with DELICIOUS RICE . I highly recommand this restaurent. The food is always always fresh. This restaurant is run by family, wife and husband. They are closed every sunday and monday.

Excelent.....The staff are amazing they show great hospitality which is driven by the Persian culture. The food is absolutely amazing and one of a kind in Canada considering I have traveled from east to west of the country and yet have not witnessed a greater taste in terms of authenticity delivered by this restaurant. Good portion reasonable price and pretty much the number one spot if you want to know what Persian food is all about. Just amazing both service and the food. The owner is very humble and respectful as well. And I love their hospitality and professionalism accompanied by the great food...loved it I'll go back again today

Excellent food, great staff! The portions are generous, the price is right. They have this wonderful tradition of ringing their famous ship bell upon the departure of their kind clientele as a sign of thanks. They also do take out and make a great spread for a party!

I have been eating at this place for 4 years. The smell of the food, the texture, the pleasant personality of the owner preparing the food himself, the rice crust and the meat is The Gold Standard in Ottawa and is the same as the truly authentic Persian food I Tried in Iraq, Kuwait and lebanon.

BEST BIRTHDAY DINNER!. I had read that the food was good but it was amazingly delicious, mouth watering. I had been wanting to try it but my kids kept refusing but I forced them since it was my birthday and they both thought it was sooo good. Even the water was ice cold and delicious, I'm not kidding, the water was good. And, the service was great! They stuck a lit birthday candle in my grilled tomato and my dinner was on the house! Okay, it was a bit too hot and smokey in there and the tables were close together... but worth it. I love, love, loved it!

Good but too pricy for what you get. Let me be honest, the food is good. As a native persian, I could tell that every ingredient used was authentic and it tasted very good. However, the price of the food is insane. For how much they charge you, you can probably buy 4X the ingredients. So my review is positive on the food quality but my complaints is the price.

NEVER AGAIN!!!. My husband was short-changed by over $10.00 when he picked up his take-out. Once we managed to plow through ten pounds of rice, we arrived at non-descriptive and utterly flavourless meat. Worst meal I have ever had and very expensive given the fact we paid full price plus an unintended tip!!!!!!!!

A little far from the business core, but the entire team felt it was really worth the walk. Even on this cold winter day. Great food, friendly service. A hallmark of a great mom and pop establishment. Upgrade your rice to include barberry. The cook is keen to please.

Yum!!!!. Like others have stated, don't go to Shekarchi Express if you are looking for ambiance, but do go if you are looking for fresh, tasty, good quality and inexpensive food. We had the appetizer dips (yogurt, tomato/onion, and pickled veggies) and they were all delicious and very reasonably priced ($3-$5 each). All you can eat fresh pita bread brought from the grill to your table throughout the meal, and a nice cup of tea after the meal. The kabobs were the tastiest I've ever tried, served with grilled tomato and onion, and a generous portion of basmati rice that was cooked perfectly. I will definitely go back!

Outstanding. One of the few places in Ottawa that has its priorities straight: focus on the food. Really fresh, straightforward Persian food. I've been to this place twenty times and everything has been excellent on every visit. Delicious rice, fresh, delicately seasoned chicken (light or dark) and steak or ground beef kabobs, served with grilled tomatoe. And the sides are great too. People are great and the music is always just right. The only risk at Shekarchi is over eating....Enjoy!

Great Place. The menu is somewhat limited but the food they serve is very well grilled, nicely seasoned, and really fresh. The onion parsley salad was prepared in front of me as I waited for my takeout. On top of the good food, the folks at the restaurant are very friendly and clearly proud of the quality and freshness of their food. Last night they prepared a special platter for four people. There was nothing but a bit of rice left over when we were done. You should try it!

WOW...... That is probably the best word to describe the dining experience. This is not a fine dine fancy shmancy restaurant. Family run and with a lot of passion for fresh and tasty food.....and it shows in the food. Was my first visit to this hidden gem. I ordered Vaziri kebob (mix of kooobedeh and chicken kebob) served with rice and grilled tomatoe. Also had a sandwich to go. Food was mind blowing fresh, tasty and had super mild spices. Iranian food is not spicy generally speaking. Had the dough drink which is traditional Iranian yoghurt drink in sparkling water. Super friendly owner and prompt/attentive service. Definitely will visit again and will recommend it to all my friends and family too.
