Came here to try customized Poutine as it is one of the things to try in Canada. Tried the spicy chicken one. It was filling and hot.. It had fries, some sauce, fried chicken, cheese and some toppings that I was asked to choose like tomatoes ,olives( similar to what we do at Subway). I liked it because it was tasty and hot. Else most of the things westerners like cold.. cold milk , cold Sandwich, even a cold boiled egg( don't know why)..
FOOD:
We had come here on a rainy Monday evening at around 7:00 pm for dinner. We were planning to do take-out therefore, we had placed our order with the cashier of 2 Original Hamburger Combos (1 With French Fries, 1 With Onion Rings; $10.99 Total; CAA Discount), and 1 Fish Sandwich ($4.99). We had taken our food back to the hotel that we were staying at which was nearby. In terms of the two Original Hamburgers, I had gotten lettuce, tomato, garlic mayonnaise, and ketchup on mine, while my mother had gotten the same on hers, minus the garlic mayonnaise.
The hamburgers tasted pretty good, nicely-cooked and well-done. However, I found that the toppings were a bit-lacking, and there was only a small amount of them on each burger. My father's Fish Sandwich was okay however, it wasn't as delicious as he would have hoped. The French Fries were good, although they weren't enough, only a small amount was given with the meal. Overall though, the food was not too bad, but definitely not the best I've had.
ATMOSPHERE:
When we had walked-into this restaurant, there were hardly any customers. The restaurant itself seemed clean enough however, we found that it was quite big, considering it was a tad empty at that time. The pictures of the food items were very large behind the cashier, and we were able to see them clearly from where we were standing.
SERVICE:
When we had placed our order, the cashier seemed a bit confused at first, but then she was able to assist us when we had asked questions. The woman whom had fixed our items was kind, and very patient as we waited to choose the toppings that we desired. The service was pretty-good for a fast-food restaurant.
COST:
2 Original Hamburger Combos (1 With French Fries, 1 With Onion Rings): $10.99 (CAA Discount) + 1 Fish Sandwich: $4.99 = $18.05 (Taxes Included)
WOULD YOU RETURN?
If I had to have a fast-food hamburger again, this would definitely be the place I choose.
I was staying at the Cartier and was on the prowl for a meal. I decided to check out the local Harvey's location, to see what the fuss was about.
In contrast to other fast food chains, just because it's "fast-food" doesn't mean that it has to crappy food. And, while Harvey's takes the time to allow its patrons to custom build their burgers, it also means that the end product is far more satisfying to the consumer. So, I'll stick with the Harvey's method.
The Angus Bacon Cheeseburger was excellent, and being from out of town, I figured I'd try something different to go along with it, so I order the original Poutine. OMG. Gravy and cheese over french fries. Heaven in a bowl. Just fabulous stuff.
So, why four stars, instead of five? While the food was great, the overall appearance of the restaurant needs an upgrade. Looks old and run down. Kinda diminishes the experience.
Really much better than Mcdonald's on the same street.
Their customizable burgers are best.
I have tried everything here and its a very good fast food restaurant.
On Friday I was in downtown Ottawa running a few errands. I had finished my running around and decided to investigate some lunch. I stopped by the Harvey's location at 216 Elgin Street (Ottawa) to order some lunch. I walked in shortly after 11 A.M. to find no customers and the workers preparing for onslaught of office workers for the noon hour. I approached the counter where I was friendly met by one of the employees and placed my order. The Order : 1 Original Hamburger Combo (Original Hamburger, Regular Fries and Regular Pepsi). The burger came quickley from the grill to the topping station. The Burger Barista inquired how I would like my burger topped, and the reply "everything no hot peppers". Yes, Harvey's is great at ensuring you receive the hamburger topped just the way you like it. That way you can have your own "Beautiful Thing". I sat down at a booth, stretched out some reading material printed on newsprint and dug in. The hamburger was warm and delicious. The toppin
