The service is unbelievable. We timed how long it would take to get our stuff after ordering, the first item showed up 49s after we ordered!! The food is good and service that the rest of the city should take note of. Incredible staff that work as a team to make sure you have everything you need!
Have been going here for about a year. We enjoy the sashimi and it has always been fresh. The squid teriyaki is also good and tender. Generally good service with the occasional slow dish, but the majority comes quickly. Party trays were also nice.
Probably the best AYCE sushi in the Ottawa region we have tried thus far. The fish is very fresh tasting compared to other places we've tried, and they seem to have added new things like octopus sashimi (no limit!) and squid! So we're happy campers in that regard since we love variety in our sashimi. They also have a variety of dishes, including some dim sum dishes, fried stuffs, soups, etc. Their rolls are a tad big, lots of rice, but they also have lots of filling. I only wish they made the rolls smaller.
Our favourites were the squid and octopus sashimi, salmon roses, red tuna nigiri, Coco dumpling (a sweet coconut dumpling made with glutinous rice and custard inside), deep fried oysters, and the lamb skewers.
Typical All You Can Eat .... I have been here many times... the location is convenient for me... it's your typical all you can eat sushi.
Good selection for different options... service is slow.. most times you do not receive everything you order.
Always new staff.. prices are fair..
Would recommend this place
Good food, limited options. In the past, I've recommended Hockey Sushi to be the best AYCE sushi in Ottawa. What with so many more options in the city now, I would no longer say it's the best, but it's not terrible either. The food at my most recent visit was quite good, however the selection is narrower than other places like 168 Sushi. On the plus side, they seem to be adding new menu items - from the ones I've sampled, it seems to be promising.
Better service when it's not busy. We come here often and I think the servers have come to recognize us. We try to go for early or late dinner, never between 6 and 7. If the place is full or has large groups, better to go away and try another place as you will probably have some items not show up or wait a long time for your food. When it's not busy, you won't be able to keep up with all the food on your table. Their fried rice is the best. My husband doesn't eat raw fish, so he sticks to the fried, teriyaki and teppanyaki stuff. I enjoy the salmon and mackerel sushi and the various salmon/avocado/cucumber rolls. The green dragon roll is good too. Their staff is friendly, some have difficulty with English, but they try.
Average sushi place. Sushi is typically well made and service on par with other places (aka sub par but get the job done).
If you want to get other things besides sushi, this place has a good amount of other kitchen items on their menu.
I would avoid going when it is super packed or right in the middle of a meal time as they simply won't have enough staff to bring orders out and to prepare the food on time.
Sushi we're delicious but service definitely can be better. Food came pretty fast but forgot a lot of our orders. I ordered handrolls and didn't get them after 4 repeated orders. Staff seems like they are tired and don't know what they are doing. We asked for napkins and the server gave it to the next table. Server also spilled coke in our table and didn't clean it properly. Good place to eat just don't expect a perfect service.
Nice all you can eat option in the Kanata tech park. Good variety super fast service. Usually busy Thursdays and Fridays at lunch come early or wait a bit.
Love it. Noisy but good food and not so expensive.
Excellent quality, selection, and friendly service. Would highly recommend this place to any sushi lover. Great value, especially for an all you can eat place.
Hockey Sushi is the best place to go in Kanata for sushi. Always opt for all you can eat, get unlimited fresh sushi for around $20. Nice atmosphere, always a popular location. Would definitely recommend.
Nice little place and the sushi was really good. Lots of flavour and good service will be back when I'm in town.
Best Sushi in Ottawa so far that I have tried. I haven't tried many sushi places to confirm #1 in my opinion, but one guarantee you can count on is that you won't be disappointed and will be completely satisfied. The cost rate for all you can eat lunch is amazing for just $15! Plus tip = $17. not bad at all. I'm heading there for my 7th time this year.
I'll note that I'm a keener to cleanliness aftertaste in foods and this place has none (you know when you can taste the same aftertaste in foods found in all of your dishes is what I'm referring to - NOT the meat after taste itself). I can go on but for a total rating, I would give this place a 7.8/10.
BEST SUSHI PLACE EVER!!! Hockey rolls are a must-try, everything is fresh and delicious. Service can be slow, but is always friendly
Good food, not the service. This place has good food but not good service. We've asked for high chairs. They show us to the table and they point to where we can go and get our own high chair. The last time we visited we asked for a high chair and they just took us to the table and walked away.
The location near all the high tech is probably why it is so packed and busy. The last time we were there with the stroller with a baby sleeping inside (covered) for some reason one of the waitresses came and uncovered it, peeked inside at our baby, covered it again, and walked away with out saying anything. No smile, no comment, nothing. Perhaps she was not happy with the stroller in the aisle and wanted us to move it and to see if there was a baby before making a comment (even though there was enough room to walk around it). But she could have asked or said something before touching the stroller.
Don't know if I'd go back there until the staff learns to smile, speak at least full one sentence, and give better service.
Great for the price. I like this place, and frankly now that I've moved away I full-on miss it. The service can be sub-par but I find that little active participation as a guest really bumps up their game. Yeah, I'm probably "that guy" but after a trip or two of chasing down the wait staff when they try to ignore you, or huddle around the counter, or drop off incorrect food items and bail, I found that the service suddenly became incredibly fast and accurate in comparison to the norm.
The food: I'm personally a fan of the cones here, especially when the nori is fresh and crisp. Their sweet potato and avocado rolls are stellar. Actually most of their offerings are well prepared but everyone has their favorites. At the end of the day it's fast food sushi done very well and for an incredible price, particularly their lunch all-you-can-eat menu (around $17 tax inc). Compared to the places I've been since I'd take a meal back here any day.
On my next trip through the Ottawa area you can bet I'll be making my way for some Hockey Sushi… where indecently the staff don't know why it bears the name it does either.
Sweet Potato and Avocado Roll!. The best thing about Hockey Sushi is the Sweet Potato and Avocado roll. The food in general is good, though, and everything I've ordered, I've enjoyed.
The service isn't amazing. They have never been particularly unfriendly, but they do seem to go long periods without picking up the order sheets. They have also brought the wrong food to the table. I have been there 4 or 5 times, and I remember this happening at least twice.
Overall, though, I do like this place, and I will be going back. Just don't go expecting perfect service, because you will be disappointed.
Best AYCE sushi's I had in Ottawa! Service was better than other AYCE! The price is good and so was the sushi's!
Great all-you-can-eat Japanese!. I've gone twice on the weekend, for lunch. Really enjoyed it! (mores than Sushikan or 1000 Islands).
Good AYCE. Good selection/price for all you can eat, but the service is lacking. Best way to get around this is to fill out two menus to make sure you get all that you ordered. They will often bring you food you may not have ordered.
Worth every penny!. Great place if you love sushi. Highly recommend their all you can eat during dinner hours. Only problem is sometimes there is a language barrier with the staff...they are very friendly though...and if you go in a large group they get REALLY confused. So the trick would be to just order everything on one sheet for the whole table...just trust me on this one.

I agree the service is hit and miss, but it is usually tied to how busy they are. I find the prices are a very good value. $13 all you can eat lunch or $20 for dinner. Try the dragon roll, yum!
Had a great food experience. Went for lunch. Great food. It was fresh, prepared quickly and a good presentation. The service wasn't great.
Great Sushi!. This is a great all-you-can-eat Sushi place! Beware of the price they charge you for full rolls not eaten. The wait staff does not tell you that they charge $10 per roll for EVERY roll not eaten (doggy bag). So make sure you only order what you think you can eat!!
The food was good, but the service was terrible. Never got half of what was ordered.
Hands down the best all you can eat sushi in the West end of Ottawa!
