We’ve been here several times over the years and we’ve never been disappointed. Always good food. Always good service. We mostly go for breakfast and we will be back.
My favorite shawarma place in Ottawa. The portions were perfect and staff very friendly. The taste is fantastic, and I don't get that heavy feeling in my stomach I get from greasier establishments. I highly recommend the beef plate with sesame sauce. Fast and friendly service. A great spot!
Possibly the best garlic sauce, and freshest ingredients in all of Ottawa. Great staff, owner is always there to make sure that you are served well consistently.
Chicken Shawarma and Spicy Potatoes with Garlic. Note: I have been eating at Cedar Valley for YEARS, I have always enjoyed their food; shawarma's are fresh, pita is soft and the chicken plates are delicious. However, I have noticed in recent years/my recent visits, I was no longer impressed. The Chicken Shawarma is not bad, but I've had better. They don't put enough it them, they are very skinny, not hefty and loaded with the good stuff. The garlic sauce is really just garlicky mayonnaise, and the toppings aren't that fresh lately. Potatoes were soft, and customer service is hit and miss, a bit of a soup nazi situation, but with shawarma. I use to LOVE this place, not so much anymore. This picture (large shawarma+potatoes+can of pop) cost me $14, that is really overpriced for a shawarma combo. Worth trying if you have never had it before, but I wouldn't be dying to continue to go back.
Great chicken shawarma!. I've been going to Cedar Valley for a few years now (it's our treat meal, usually on a weekend). We have 5 kids so it can get expensive going there for a meal but it is the only shawarma place that the kids will eat from. We tried another but the food was just sub-standard compared to this.
The owner greets me with a friendly smile every time I show up (I have brought one of my youngest a few times and they gave him a deep-fried cheese roll every time at no charge). The spicy potatoes and garlic sauce are awesome and the fattouche salad we get is almost always great.
There are some days that his wife is not in the greatest of moods, but everyone has bad days once in a while. (referring to other posts about her in here).
Tried the chicken salad with a side of spicy potatoes w/ garlic sauce - good quality and service, reasonably priced.
Awesome shawarma...if you know what to ask for.. First, always ask for the "strong garlic". It's not mayo like in the slightest, and is almost pure garlic with a hint of lemon. Second, ask for tahini sauce. It's perfect here. I've never felt short changed in the chicken department, and have often left wondering how they can afford the portions they offer.
I understand what people are saying about the owner, but first impressions are often wrong. I've been going here for three years and I always get a smile and a cheerful "How are you?" from the proprietor. It took a couple of visits to realize he is a great guy behind a somewhat gruff exterior. He is very involved in the community in many positive ways.
Cedar Valley is an old school family business. I find them all pleasant and eager to please. The portions are excellent and the quality is second to none.
Pretty good Shawarma. Only one I know that has an extra-large size. Ask for extra garlic sauce with the chicken. Place is clean and even though the owners don't smile much, once you talk to them they are friendly. English, French or Arabic service available (as far as I know).
Good food!. Went here for lunch a few days ago. I had the chicken shawarma platter, which came with hummus, pita, spicy potatoes and fattoush with a humungous dollop of garlic sauce on top. If I hadn't eaten in, I would have had enough food for two meals! The chicken was very good; perfectly seasoned and moist. The spicy potatoes were disappointingly greasy, soft and not spicy. I hope that next time they will be as good as others say. The fattoush was magnificent and fresh. I agree with some of the other reviews regarding the garlic sauce: it's kind of like garlic mayo. But there was a sign on the counter that there are two kinds of garlic sauce available - light and heavy garlic. Next time - and there will be a next time - I will get the garlicky garlic. And the owner served me...both very nice and very intimidating-looking. I say give this place a try!
Their shawarmas are amazing and super fresh. For people that say the owner is unfriendly he is actually a very nice man but looks intimidating, it's just his face
I've been coming here for years!the food is the best Lebanese food inottawa and the family who owns it is so nice. The prices are amazing and the beef shawarma is the best one I've ever had in my life!
Best shawarma in Ottawa! The chicken shawarma plate is not only the best in the city, but at $10 taxes in... It can't be beat. Great family owned restaurant with great service.
