Went for the first time last week and was very happy with the service and the food. It was the best sushi I've had. Large pieces of fresh fish and I had a Crazy Roll which was absolutely delicious.
We where arriving late, after a movie almost closing time,we thought its not enough time to order and eat, with a welcoming smile we were insured not to hurry. The place is clean and bright we sit and order, the menu is a bit tricky but with a little help....
Green tea with brown rice is the only but very tasty tea choice ,shortly after we dig in the beautyful arrangements in front of us ,definetifly a good experience
It was a quiet Monday night, our server was friendly and attentive. My first go at sushi and I'll be back again. I had the Teriyaki Bento, the dynamite roll in this package was awesome. Could've eaten a ton of those. I'll admit I wasn't crazy for the chicken teriyaki, the texture was a little weird, tofu-like. But I didn't come here for the chicken so no big deal. The gyoza was full of flavor and I also enjoyed the seaweed salad...never would've ordered it but I tried it since it came as a side...I liked it! The fish in the sushi tasted very fresh, not fishy at all. All in all I was pleased with my meal and prices. I was full when I left. I will be back to try out some more sushi.
Best sushi in town. It's simple: best sushi in town. We've tried a lot of other sushi restaurants in the downtown area and keep on returning to SushiME. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious food.
Eat here!. My girlfriend and I moved into the neighbourhood about a year ago and we were excited about a sushi bar being within walking distance. After our first meal there we fell in love. The food is awesome and the service is always fantastic.
We order from take out a couple times a month and we've never been let down.
As far as cooked/canned fish in the rolls, I don't really know what other reviewers mean. I've had nothing but fresh fish when we've ordered from here.
The portions are huge and the chefs are crazy fast. Also the non-sushi items on the menu rock. I love their bulgogi. I often grab some on my way home from work
I've worked in restaurants for many years, including a sushi bar, and I'd definitely recommend this place to friends/family/anyone who will listen
Delicious sushi! I try and go to this place every time I'm in Ottawa, and I'm never disappointed.
Great Sushi and Amazing Staff!. Myself and five friends went there this Saturday evening for one of our birthdays. The service was quick and the staff was so polite and took the time to answer any questions we had. I had pieces of the Lion King roll and the Dynamite roll and both were so tasty, definitely will be getting those again. We had mentioned that one of our friends was celebrating their birthday and at the end of the meal they brought us complementary slices of their green tea cheesecake (so good!). Thank you to the SushiME staff and the owner/manager, Sue Jung, for a great experience!
I moved from Vancouver a year ago, I've been searching for good sushi place around the town since I arrived; so far SushiMe is the best that I found.. Their Volcano are extravagandsa!!
Huge pieces of sushi. Wanting to stop in for a quick bite to eat we headed here for a light lunch. Taking a while to bring us menus we ordered some of the rolls and nigiri sushi. OMG the sushi pieces were huge!! very very tasty and fresh but remember when you are ordering the portions are quite large. Unfortunately, they brought the wrong order out and I mentioned it and the waitress was kind of like oh well sorry and didnt do anything about it. Its kind of a fast food place so I didnt expect much. It was 50$ for 2 orders of rolls to 2 orders of nigiri. I would definitely go back if I was stranded on Beecwood with no other options - however I'll keep trying other sushi spots in the city in the time being.
Daniel the Cocker Spaniel's Review. In regards to Daniel the Cocker Spaniel's review of SushiMe, I could not hold back the urge to correct his distorted and more than slightly embellished review.
As a resident of New Edinburgh, as most have mentioned previously, it was a long anticipated return of a Sushi restaurant to the community. Since they opened their doors a couple of months ago, we have been treated to the best Sushi in the city, hands down. Every roll is consistently delicious and the atmosphere of the restaurant is always warm and friendly.
I have had many encounters where there was only one server on with an entire restaurant sat. Of course we didn't get to learn the servers life story in full detail but she did her job and at most extreme time to date, we have maybe waited 30 minutes for our main course. During that span, we were also treated to a complimentary started of Edamame due to the above average wait time! Well played staff!
Daniel, if you're out to spread vicious rumours and lie to the public, you may as well just walk into the house of commons and become an MP. Cut out your negative heroics and take a nap, you sound run down.
Thanks for all the great experiences SushiMe, you've done a fantastic job!
Very Good. I personally do not understand the negative comments- i order from here almost 3x a week and its very fast. For the people who go in saying you spent two hours there, i have to imagine your either exaggerating A LOT or it was extremely busy. Every time i go to the actual restaurant it takes about 20-30 mins for our main and thats after we have had our appetizers meals to come and thats for about four people. So i can't imagine why it would be 2 hours for the first time you go.. that seems very exaggerated to me. The sushi is by far some of the best in Ottawa, very fresh! I would really recommend the avocado rolls and for an appetizer the chicken karaage!
We were so excited to see Sushi come to New Edinburgh, and even more excited when it ended up being the best sushi by far in Ottawa.
Sue the owner is very friendly, hard-working and obviously an excellent chef. We literally order from here for takeout so often that they typically answer the phone with "Hello Daniel- same as always?"
Speaking of which- I recommend the spicy tuna roll or Sakuro roll, my better half really likes the sushi bento box.
Oh and by the way Sue, don't let that jerk "Daniel" (not worthy of the name!) get to you. You can tell by reading his review that he's just one of those cantankerous types who can never be happy. Fresh, delicious food takes time to prepare- This is isn't McDonalds people!
Highly recommended- A++
We've been twice now - the first time was right after it opened and it was amazing. Good food, very well-priced, and friendly staff. We went back recently and noticed that (like the joke) the food was not very good, and the portions had shrunk! It's still not pricey, but given that we were all still hungry after mediocre food, I would expect a little more! Will definitely be giving this one another try because of the great experience the first time, though. Everyone can have an off night.
Awesome place. Great food and service. Live close by so I go here alot. Favourites are the spicy me and jachae but almost all the sushi i've had has been delicious.
Very good sushi. Dinner for a group of five hungry adults, we paid $92 with tax. We got miso soup, shrimp tempura app, spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, the aki sushi combo, the nigi combo, and a plate of spicy pork yaki udon (so sicy and so amazing). We had too much food and brought home the nigiri from the nigi platter which was still pretty good the next day at lunch. Fish is fresh and rolls are large. Comparable to sushi in the Market or downtown area at good prices and accessible free parking.
Went there last week with my friend and neighbor and we were surprised by how big the sushi rolls were. Amazing sushi and great service!! Can't wait to go back!
Finally, sushi on Beechwood!. The bf and I were at Sushi Me for dinner and had a great meal that didn't break the bank. I ordered the "spicy me" (1 roll of spicy salmon, 1 roll of spicy tuna, 1 roll of spicy tuna, and miso soup) for just $11. It was very good. The bf got miso soup, a spider roll, and shrimp tempura roll that came out on a beautiful platter which was just as tasty. We also got green tea. To end the evening, we had some ginger ice cream was was amazing - big hunks of candied ginger. I heard the green tea cheesecake is very good, so I'll try that next time. For the two of us, we paid $32 with taxes. When I go to Wasabi in the Market, we usually pay at least $50 for less food. The service is also excellent. Friendly management, staff, and chefs too. I'm just happy they finally have some Asian food in New Edinburgh, in addition to the greasy chinese at Goldenstar. Will definitely go back!
