These are really great sandwiches! Really great. They are on a lovely egg bread and the ingredients are always fresh with the right mix of salad and some mayo. Love them. Perhaps a bit more salt or kick would be a good idea but since they are for take away it doesn't matter. Local business that should get a lot more attention for their simple but perfect sandwiches - great satisfying lunch or light dinner.
I work in Little Italy and used to eat DiRienzos 2+ times a week. Got pretty tired of them and was stoked to find this spot. Even if it's a bit further for me, I'll take it every time.
Chicken bacon avocado is legendary. Egg bread is delicious and so is their signature sauce. Treat yourself.

Went there twice in the last two days. Had heard about their sandwiches many times but somehow the place always looked unappealing to me. But went for it. Totally enjoyed the BBQ chicken and bacon sandwich. The bread is really good. Moist, flavourful, likely a brioche or a challah. Toasted with sesame seeds. Nice. The BBQ chicken could be more flavorful but it was good. The bacon was very good. Thick cut and very crispy. Just like it should be.
Will definitely go back.
Outstanding sandwich!. We tried the Chicken Bacon Avacado and it was amazing. Truly one of Ottawa's hidden Gems. Gabriel, the owner is a super nice guy too.

Excellent. Been eating here for eons, they have their occasional bad day but all in all typically an excellent product.
Almost 20 years coming here. After two different owners and nearly 20 years visiting Sherwood Deli, I still enjoy this place. They've recently hired a rather disgruntled lady who makes a shoddy sandwich, but their usual standard is very high. Chicken or turkey with bacon is my favourite; it was even better when they didn't charge extra for bacon. How awesome was that? Free bacon? That's like free... money... or something.
[Update Jan. 2014: Free bacon is long gone, although tasty sandwiches still remain. They are getting a little stingier with the toppings, which is a worrisome trend. Hope they address this among their new deli counter operators.]
Awesome egg bread sandwich (depending on who makes it.. Some put a lot more meat than others). I like the turkey bacon. Chicken bacon. And tuna with artichoke heart. MAKE SURE TO GET THE HOUSE SAUCE!!
Underappreciated.. This place is the Di Rienzo's of chicken sandwiches. I stumbled upon this place one day when I had to stop in at a corner store for a lighter. They had a deli counter at the back so I decided to try their signature chicken sandwich(lettuce, roasted chicken, marble cheddar, and house mayo on what I think is rideau bakery Challah). It was awesome. I have been back dozens of times and it's always friendly an delicious.
If anyone is interested I think the sandwich is $5 and they serve a variety of fresh salads(potato, greek, pasta) as well as a whole menu board of sandwiches I haven't tried yet(Chicken sandwich is too good).
