We regularly order Thai from the Silver Spoon. It is our family’s favorite go to Thai take out in highland park, Westboro. We love the curries and the pad Thai of course. The mango cashew salad is amazing. They always have lemongrass tea. Yum. Yum.
This is a cosy informal style dining room. Furnishings a little tired but adequate.
Food is amazing. Thai food at some of its best.
Prices are average but can be bettered by taking advantage of the daily special platters. Service is attentive without being pretentious. Without a doubt one of my favourites either for business or social gatherings.
Excellent food and ambiance and the price was right. Service was quick and staff are very friendly. The Gluten Free Crispy Sweet and Sour Stir Fry was delicious. Will definitely be going back for more!
Awesome Thai food! Bonus for people with allergies is all of the food is MSG free and most of it is dairy free. Great customer service as well!
This is my favourite Thai spot in the city. They briefly went downhill when opening their second location and any negative reviews can probably be attributed to that, they've since closed it and are back to their regular selves. I regularly go here and they remember my order and are always quick and friendly. Portions at night are huge and made to share. They lose some points because their sauces aren't always consistent in that there is not always enough, but they'll happily add more for you. Rice wraps are the best in the city. Their food is simply addictive! My go to is the pad Meg mamuang but all the curries are delicious as well.
This spot is one of the best/easiest spots to order Thai from. Food is always hot and good quality. The Tom yum soup is amazing and we always order it 4 stars so it's pretty spicy. I love the beef salad and chicken satays. Peanut sauce is soo good and my husband loved the fried wontons. I would recommend this place to anyone eating good delivery. They just came through in the first big snow storm and we are very satisfied, thanks silver spoon.
Very good food and exceptional service. Will definitely come again! I had the spicy basil stir fry and the vegetable spring rolls as an appetizer. Spring rolls were great but could use a bit more sauce for five. The stir fry was very good although take note that the rice is extra 1.50. Still a reasonable price, however.
I came here and tried their red curry, and it was quite good. Portion was about average from what I'd expect for thai food and the price. The service was good, very friendly and accommodating. The decor was quite nice as well.Overall, I'll definitely be back. Not my favorite thai place in town, but in my top 3 for sure.
Why do the owners not respond to the reviews?. Will not risk visiting if the owners/mgmt are indifferent to the customers feedback.
Silver Spoon is one of my favourite places! Great service and good food! I found out about them through their Wellington Street West location (which has since unfortunately closed). However, I have dinned at their Carling location and I always know what I'm going to get. The servers are really friendly and the food never disappoints.
Great Thai!!. I ordered the veggie yellow curry with tofu. It was great better than 95 % of thai restaurants I have been too. They didn't water down the coconut milk which I appreciated and didn't use cheap fillers. They also didn't "whiten" down the spice. A lot of places seem to make the food not very hot not sure why... I was really happy that they actually make the food spicy. They have a spice scale of 1 to 5 you can order and it was appreciated that the food was actually hot at a 5 level... most restaurants are not...
Also reasonably priced. Most places I looked at charged about $15 for this dish but here I think it was $10 or $11. Really would recommend this place!!
This is honestly the best thai food i've had in ottawa. With the added bonus that they don't cook anything with msg. Also very good service. And really good prices, I went there with someone and had spring rolls, fried rice, pad thai, wonton egg noodle soup, and two desserts for under 50$
Delicious. This little Thai restaurant is a staple of mine and my co-workers for lunch. We have never been disappointed with the meals we have ordered. We keep going back and we will continue to go back. If I had anything bad to say, it would be that there is an issue with the table's worth of meals not all coming out at the same time. Not every time we have gone, but sometimes one person has had to wait quite awhile for their dish.
Delicious Curry!. I haven't had any Thai since I moved to Ottawa, so I decided to try Silver Spoon based on the reviews. It was very tasty! The veggie spring rolls were awesome, I just wish they used authentic sweet and sour dipping sauce instead of the jelly-looking kind. The Panang curry was SO good; sweet, but not overly so; the veggies were cooked just right, not too mushy. The prices online were about $1.00 less than what they actually charge, so I guess their website needs updating. Other than that, I'd definitely try it again.
Food was fantastic and the service was great. Water was refilled without asking for it and level of spice was spot on.
This is hands down my new favourite Thai spot.
Great thai experience. It is hard to find a good thai restaurant so we were reluctant to try Silver Spoon for the first time, instead of going to our favorite place. We were pleasantly surprised. We had the rice paper spring rolls for an app, which were good, mostly because of their peanut sauce, but the best was yet to come. I had their cashew/broccoli stir-fry with shrimp and sticky rice as my main course and it was just fantastic. The sauce, the veggies, the nuts were all perfectly cooked and balanced. The portions are big and I actually had 9 large shrimps in my dish: I couldn't believe my eyes. My boyfriend had the paneng curry and he really enjoyed it as well. I recommend this place for sure!
Fantastic Food!!! A must try!. I absolutely love Thai Food, and I used to frequently visit the restaurants in the Downtown area which is where I reside, as it is more convenient for me. My friends whom are regulars at the Silver Spoon highly recommended that try it out. I finally made it out to the Silver spoon on a Saturday night. The place was quite busy, and we were warmly welcomed and seated. The service was very friendly and attentive which is hard to come by these days. I scanned the menu and noticed their large selection of items. They have a lot of vegetarian dishes and can accommodate to those who have allergies. My girlfriends and I shared the appetizer platter, Tom kha soup, papaya salad, cashew stir fry, pad ki mow, and a panang curry. We were blown away by the unique flavours of the savoury, sweet, and sour dishes. The portions are quite large and very filling at a very affordable price. The food was amazing. It's a shame that they cannot deliver to my end of town, but I now frequently order take out and travel down at every opportunity in order to satisfy my silver spoon addiction. This place makes you feel at ease. Feel free to enjoy your meal in comfort without being pressured to pay and leave after you have finished your meal like most of the restaurants downtown. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!
Great 1st Thai Experience. Never really got on the Thai train (I don't count Thai Express), but yesterday the man and I were recommended to this little gem ... and GOODNESS was it TASTY! I tried the Yellow Curry with beef (I am a spice noob) and it was delicious! Absolutely wonderful flavours and not too overwhelming in any areas (ie. balance of spice, curry, salt, etc). The man had the Green Curry with chicken -- spicy for sure, but equally as flavourful! We also tried the Thai milk tea (cold) -- this was scrumptious too (and big size for an excellent price!).
The exterior truly does not do it justice -- inside it's beautifully decorated and smells fantastic; even the music sets a great ambiance.
Yum yum om nom, I can't wait to go again :D !
Unassuming outside leads to unforetold treasures. I was addicted to this place for like a year straight, so beware. The coolest decor, finest Thai food, and reasonable prices combine into a holy trinity of Thai perfection. Friendly staff and the take-out option make this place even better, plus you almost always get two meals for two out of a ~$40 order.
I'm so glad I found Silver Spoon, since a family member chose it for a birthday one year. I hope it never goes out of business, but worry it might due to an unassuming facade and difficult parking if you're heading east on Carling. Support this amazing restaurant, folks!
PS: My only minor quibble is that the pad thai (an overdone staple anyway, in my humble opinion) is not the best I've ever had. Try the pad sew (broad noodle) instead, it's flavour central. Their crispy beef (or chicken) is also a wonderfully spiced, savoury Thai interpretation of the usual low-quality Chinese resto version of the dish.
Best Thai in town!. This restaurant has to have the best food in town! My parents introduced me and spouse to it two years ago, and we have been going there ever since! The staff always remember us, ask about our kids, and know exactly what spice levels my family enjoys. Both me and my daughter have allergies, and they are always willing to accomodate. Recently I joined a weight loss program, and they were willing to help me customize my favourite dish so that I could still eat it, and have it fit into my new diet. We order take-out often, and the food is always fresh and hot, even by the time we sit down to eat it 20 minutes later. Thank you to the staff for such amazing customer service, and the chefs for a wonderfully delicious meal every time.
Excellent. This is my favourite Thai restaurant. I discovered it by accident with my fiancee when we were driving around starving but unsure where to eat. We decided on the next restaurant we saw and we were NOT dissapointed. Best Thai green curry in Ottawa (other than my own home made version)
Price - 10/10
Service - 10/10
Food - 10/10
And BYOB!
I have tried many Thai restaurants but the Silver Spoon is by far the best and the atmosphere is always relaxing.
Love this place!. Can't complain about this place...smiling and fast service, Special of the day are always fresh and tasty. Portion is nice and just enough to fill you up.
Best Thai I have had in west ottawa. They deliver too!
Great food and price. One of the best Thai places in Ottawa. Will be going back again soon!
Mmmmmmm! Presentation: creative; speed of food to table to belly : perfect ...~20 min or less ( avg. of take-out, delivery and in house dining!!!) menu variety: extensive; flavor and food quality; Fahmazing!!! (85% of the menu anyway) try it yourself !
Love it!!!! Very tasty and nice atmoshere. Highly recomend it!!
Pretty restaurant. Great Thai food. I'm always a sucker for the pad Thai but it is delish! Chicken satay is also a great app if you like peanuts as much as I do
Yum!!. I work down the street from Silver Spoon so this restaurant is on our list of regulars for staff birthdays and such. I've eaten here probably at least 30 times and LOVE it. The food is great, very tasty and fresh. Full of flavour, but not too spicy for Thai. A few of the "tried and true" dishes are the Pa Nang, Seafood Red Curry, Crispy Beef/Chicken, and Sweet & Sour Shrimp. The only complaint I've ever heard is the Pad Thai can be bland.
I have Celiac's (can't eat gluten/wheat) so Thai restaurants are a safe haven and I've been to a bunch to compare. The staff are very knowledgeable about allergies and happily accomodate my gluten-free diet. I've NEVER had a reaction from eating here and that says a lot.
Finally, I think SS has the best prices I've seen for Thai. The average dinner plate is $10 - 12 or $12 - 14 for seafood.
Definitely worth a try and they're open on Sundays now!
