Fantastic food, tasted fresh and very filling. Definitely recommend visiting!
We eat at a lot of pho places on cold Sunday afternoons. Most are hit and miss, this place and it's sister restaurant next door are the best on Somerset. We only get the #1 (beef rare), and i would consider ourselves Pho Experts on Somerset living only 2 block away. Keep up the good work.
Excellent pho. Reminds me of the pho I had in Vietnam. The. Roth is not salty as many places are. Excellent rich flavours. Had the rare beef with shrimp and the rice rolls.
What happen when you do a spontaneous one day trip to Ottawa, the capitol of Canada? The drive from Toronto is 5 hours, so when you arrive past noon, you realistically have a few hours to speed visit everything before your return trip back home. As a given, you visit the touristy places, like everything around the Parliament Hill perimeter. With a lack of plan and research, you also end up eating at the most random restaurant ever that is along the way back home.
Been here twice. I only tried the pho and it was quite good. Standard portion size. Medium was good enough for me. Service is always very fast.
S11 Tum Kha Soup (Shrimp only) it is the best Tum Kha soup I have had!. The medium is a big enough size. That spring rolls were good too, they bring them out fresh!
The bubble tea is average I would just go down the road to get some.
Each time I have gone in there the service is not bad, they got young guys working there who were quick and efficient. We asked for extra lemons and he brought a bowl full.
Love this place!! Their pho is definitely the best in Ottawa. Food is always consistently prepared and flavourful. My favourite dish is the rice plate with beef and pork chop. Portion size is also very generous. And the owners are so nice and friendly. Highly recommend this place!
The top of the top! Vermicellis are very good! "100 CCF" my favorite! Place is a little bit small and not fancy, but the food is really really good! Going there at least 2 times a month!
The beef pho (with no added spicy sauce etc.), is one of the best in the city. Broth is excellent although there could be more beef. Price is decent. The special spicy tomato pho is good to try as well.
Excellent Vietnamese food!
Try the thai soup. The tomato thai beef rice noodle soup is TO-DIE FOR. I love this place!
Fantastic restaurant and one of the best pho spots on somerset. It is always busy and the portions are large. Highly recommended.
Went here on a Sunday night and it was packed, so they sent us to their location down the street from it. The food was good, and a vegetarian friend of mine ordered a dish that wasn't on the menu and they were totally fine and accommodating about it.
Favourite Pho in Ottawa. This is my favourite place for pho in the city. It's cheap, the service is friendly, the place is clean, and the food itself is flavourful, and the portions are generous.
Better than any Pho I've had in Vancouver. If you've heard of Chinatown in Ottawa, its basically Pho-ville where Somerset Street is filled with Pho. There Pho Bo Ga La, Pho Bo Ga La 2, New Pho Bo Ga La, New Pho Bo Ga La 2, Pho Bo Ga La King etc... the list goes on and on.
With so many choices, I've narrowed it down to New Pho Bo Ga La, situated on the corner of Empress and Somerset. Don't mistaken this place with other Pho restaurants, this one is the one with a blue sign!
This pho is definitely the best in Ottawa and Vancouver (so far that I've tried) , the soup is great (minimal MSG) so it doesn't leave you thirsty for hours. The meat is fresh and they have a huge selection of toppings as well.
What I noticed about Pho in Ottawa is that all restaurants follow the same numbering convention. #25 in a Pho restaurant in one place, is the same in the other! Talk about consistency! It definitely makes things easier for consumers when they're deciding on what to eat.
If you like spicy pho, must add on their Spicy Satay Sauce ( Sate, in Vietnamese as my friend said ) , its extremely good, as recommended by my friend from Calgary and he's serious if he says this is comparable to Calgary Pho!

My favourite Pho restaurant by far. The food is always delicious, and delivered quickly even on a busy evening. Great on late nights. You have to put aside that the service is pretty non-existent, that's just how it is.
Good distance and good food!. Went to the restaurant a while ago. The distance wasn't as far as Pho Bo Ga La 2...but the food was still good.
The service was pretty good although it was pretty slow since they had to serve many people. The food wasn't so expensive and the noodle soup that I had was pretty good. Not as much MSG as Pho Bo Ga La 2 but still had a lot.
I would definitely recommend this place especially if you don't want to walk too far into Chinatown. A good place to have a midnight snack.
Decent. The food is very good, with decent portion sizes. Everything appears to be quite clean. The prices are average for Vietnamese which is good compared to other restaurant types. It was very busy when we went. The service is not that friendly but you are served quickly (almost as though it is a production line). We plan to go back.

Addicting!. I try to visit this place at least once a week- its my favorite place in all of Ottawa to eat! The food is always fresh and delicious, and the staff is super pleasant!
Tasty!. After reading the reviews for this place, I had some high expectations, and they were mostly met. I ordered the LA spring rolls and #14, rare beef and beef balls. There was plenty of meat in my pho which I greatly appreciated because they didn't cheap out. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty. The broth was savoury and hearty, great on a cold winter day. The service was good, nothing extraordinary but I didn't need to wait long for my order. The ambiance of the place is quite nice, it's new and nicely furnished. I will definitely be coming back here.
Great Bowl Of Pho!. I met my Uncle here on a chilly Tuesday night for a steamy bowl of Pho. I ordered some pork spring rolls to start and rare beef Pho soup. Tasty broth and good amount of beef, noodle, onion ratio. Proper garnishes; basil, lime, sprouts, coriander, and the fiery red chili. That sold me. Spring rolls were tasty but could of been a bit bigger. Having just moved to Ottawa, I will try other Pho shops, but I am impressed with my first bowl so far here! My Uncles salad rolls he said were excellent. And for those of you who rate there service bad, what do you expect? If your looking for what I deem "phoney waiter/ess syndrome" ( forced transparent saran wrap enthusiasm) then go get your food Moxiesized and leave the Pho out of it. The guys were busy, they were attentive and brought me delicious food fast. Done. Excellent.
My fave 4 pho. I'm addicted, help.
One of the better Pho restaurants. The pho here is better than most places. Nice meat cute and it isn't as fatty as other places. The soup isn't as salty as others too. Definitely my favourite!
Ph-antastic!. Huge portions, inexpensive, fast service, just what you need on a cold winter's day!
This pho is definitely the best in Ottawa and Vancouver (so far that I’ve tried) , the soup is great (minimal MSG) so it doesn’t leave you thirsty for hours. The meat is fresh and they have a huge selection of toppings as well.
Turns out, I've been walking right past great Vietnamese for months. The fun of getting to know a new city!
