Review Vietnamese Kitchen - Ottawa

Jas Y
Got the noodle soup with grilled pork today! The grilled pork was really good! And the broth was very flavorful too! It tasted a little different than the pho broth - less herb notes at the end. I typically get there vermicelli here and I love the amount of herbs they put in. The Vietnamese coffee was very good too.

Favourite Pho in town! Love the chicken wings too, extremely crispy! The prices are also really nice, every-time we are at the Glebe we stop by🤍
Nora Wylie
My favourite pad Thai in Ottawa! The servers are always so sweet and they also do great take out! Always great service and food. Would definitely recommend the pad Thai and the roll it yourself vermicelli wraps!

This is a hidden gem I think! Behind a simple facade is absolutely delicious food, perfectly portioned, moderately priced, and served with care. I can't wait to visit again! I forgot to take pictures (the food didn't last long!) but will take some next time.

Excellent restaurant. I try to eat here at least once a week. I am never disappointed. My go to is usually dumplings to start, then Pho (best Pho in Ottawa South/Glebe). Occasionally, I try other menu items and I've never been disappointed. The prices here are great and the staff are also very kind.

Big portions at a small price, in a kitschy family restaurant. The decor isn't anything to write home about, I don't recommend it if you're looking for a place with atmosphere. My server was very sharp and quick, but still friendly. Food came out in under ten min. The chicken was amazing, good portion of rice. Filling meal for 9 dollars.

Great take out! Can’t believe I didn’t discover this place earlier! Love the flat noodle dish.
Marcello Nesca
Excellent Vietnamese food, and very friendly service. The prices are reasonable and the food is always cooked with a ton of flavours! It's also a nice relaxing and quiet atmosphere which I personally enjoy. I would recommend this place!

Best sweet & sour soup, excellent egg rolls , tasty Pad Thai and varied menu.

Amazing Beef Pho!!! Filling, large size, super tasty. Loved it will be back. Highly recommended!!!

My favorite place to get Pho!!! The soup always has so much veggies and tofu - even as prices have gone up everywhere else, this place maintains it's prices and quality of food and service. Highly recommend!!!
Alyssa Gonzalez
A deep and solid menu, well executed. Their collection of plants keeps the place vibrant. A great place for its two culinary traditions.

My family has been going to this restaurant since it’s opening, and it never disappoints! Delicious dishes, reasonable prices and lovely staff! Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a fresh and yummy dinner with lots of flavour, there is something for everyone on the menu!

Good experience. Service was great! The food, good. Food value, average. One dish was mistakenly over salted, and our waitress immediately took responsibility for it and corrected the situation. Rarely seen in Ottawa. Top marks for the service. Would recommend this nice family style restaurant.

I arrived too early but still my food was ready in 10 minutes and packed in the containers I brought. It was like I was eating at the restaurant, devoured everything in minutes. The flavour was not compromised at all despite taking it out. Curried vegetables with Tofu and side of sticky rice. Formidable.

This is our favourite noodle soup spot in Ottawa. Service is always friendly, the soup is always delicious and, as we go there weekly, they know our family’s order by heart! We love the A7, P9, S7 and P11 (and truthfully have not ordered much else from here because it’s just so delicious!).

Good, cheap Vietnamese. We've been there multiple times and have never been disappointed. Great spring rolls! The atmosphere is a little less than cosy but it's great for grabbing some tasty fast lunch in the Glebe where everything is expensive.
Futurama Zoidberg
Probably one of the best Vietnamese restaurants. The atmosphere is good. Their pho and vermicelli noodles were flavorful. Overall, I recommend this restaurant.

Favourite Pho Restaurant! The owners are awesome here and its a great for sit in or take out. Never been disappointed the quality is great!

Take out is wonderful and always ready very quickly with everything you need to eat your pho at home or on the go. I would suggest going during the day for a less busy dining experience. It can be busy at nights and during holidays. Great for families, dates, older couples and University Students.

Tips
Bring the kids! There is a large circle table tin the back I believe it can seat 6-8
Sit in Steven Harper's chair. There is a chair there that Mr.Harper sat in on his visit there!!! Too funny
Order for take out, its awesome and what better than pho at home!
However nothing beats the eat in experience, try the spring rolls they are awesome!

Pictures of P1-Medium Rare Beef Pho, Spring Rolls (pork) Shrimp Rice noodle Wraps

The best pho I have had in the city. So much flavour, and the portion is large. Our server was very nice. The location of the restaurant is great too.

Was Better. This place used to be very good. Unfortunately it's no longer the case. A rather bland pho that left you needing water for the next few hours...

Bar none, the best Asian food around town. Always the freshest veggies. Tastes to die for....try the lemongrass tofu. Service fast and always with a smile.

Meal for 2. I agree with a previous reviewer. The meal for 2 is amazing, I love their beef and broccoli.

Hidden Gem. Vietnamese Kitchen's "Dinner for 2" might be one of the tastiest and greatest deals in the city. Dinner for two with 4 courses for 2 people, all for 35 dollars! Unreal and really good.

My pho had almost no flavor! Service wasn't great either.

Very good fresh and not expensive meals.

Terrible Pho. My husband and I were regulars at the VK when it was located in Centretown and we loved the Pho - and the rest of the menu for that matter. This was the first time ordering since they relocated to Old Ottawa South and we were stunned at the difference. We had the beef Pho and it was terrible - neither of us could eat it. The broth was flavourless (even with the entire container of sauce added to it). The beef was so fatty. And there were several chunks of gristle/cartilage (I am not sure whether they were there to flavour the broth or to be eaten, but revolting either way). The cold fresh shrimp spring rolls were as I remembered them and quite delicious. But overall a very surprising and disappointing meal. We won't be ordering from there again.

Delicious food served in a friendly and hyper-efficiently manner ....no more needed said!

Got very fatty beef in my Pho.. Half of the meat was too gross to eat. Broth was below average, green onions and sprouts were clearly not fresh. Not enough Asians in this town to keep these guys honest. Sorry, but that's what I got served.

A little On the greasy side-even the pho and definitely not the leanest chicken breast you could have. I am sitting in Stephen harpers chair though, which is...strange and unusual and kind of thrilling.

Reliable tasty and friendly. Just one comment on the histrionics seen in the review below about the forgotten steamed rice.
A customer demanding somebody deliver a $1.50 item that they may not have ordered, then savaging a business on Urban Spoon is psychotic.
So "somebody" forgot your rice. Suck it up.
It's not deserving of the business-trashing-large-caps- hysteria seen here.

In reality, The Vietnamese Kitchen is an asset and a positive addition to the neighborhood.
General Tao's, soups, and Singapore Vermicelli are tasty, the staff is friendly, and the service is generally efficient. It's well above average for Ottawa, and is definitely a go to place for good quantity, quality and plenty of flavor.

Not good. Picked up take-out last night, here are a few comments:
- service over the phone was very rushed and rude, don't really care for take-out purposes, but that could be an indicator on how the service is in the dinning room, got some serious attitude when I asked for some hot sauce on the side when I picked up the order, although 1/2 two women at the cash was friendly

- ordered 2 spring rolls (nothing special), grilled beef with rice (too much rice not enough meat, dipping sauce was OK, accompanying small salad was nice), and general Tao's chicken (terrible - big chunks of very little meat and way too much breading/coating with a few red/green peppers in an average sauce)

- wouldn't go back there again

- fyi - the phone numbers on the menu in the pictures posted on this site are incorrect, right number - 613-730-0211

The food is good here. Good not great. Same can be said about service. All in all an average experience.

Service and food nothing to rave about. Called for a take out order yesterday (spring rolls, singapore noodles, general tao's chicken, hot and sour soup and steamed rice) . When I opened the take out bag I noticed that there wasn't any steamed rice. I called immediately and advised the restaurant. They asked me if I wanted to pick it up or they could deliver. I said deliver please as we were rushed for time. They put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and advised me that I had not ordered any steamed rice. I responded by saying that I had distinctly asked for steamed rice. They repeated again in a certain tone that I had not ordered any rice. I then told them to forget it as their attitude was not pleasant. This is no way to deal with a client. Anyways we then proceeded to eat the food. My hot and sour soap consisted of 99% broth with a few pieces of tofu. The general tao's chicken container was half empty. The remaining items were OK. We used to have weekly take out from the previous owners but let me tell you that WE WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. THE FOOD QUALITY AND PORTIONS ARE SUBSTANDARD AND THE SERVICE IS NON EXISTANT.

Love it. Always consistently good. The staff is sweet as all get out. Offering you tea even for take out. Try to try something new everytime I go in since they have a large menu where everything turns out tasty!

The lunch specials are consistently great. A nice bowl of soup, generally a choice between beef or pork with fresh pho style veggies and vermicelli (or rice) for under $10.

The best place to eat in town. Everytime I visit the Vietnamese kitchen I am never let down. The best dish they have would definitely have to be the general taus chicken... I could live off it its so good. Every time my girlfriend and I go there we try and new dish or two and have yet to be disappointed.

Every person I bring there loves it.

Everything is soo good, don't take my word for it, just go and find out!

I've also heard good thigns about their pho, but have yet to try it.

Just finished my weekly usual. Next to lobster, rice paper shrimp rolls are one of my favorite foods. I eat at the Vietnamese Kitchen once a week. I started going there regularly in January when my previous weekly Vietnamese place closed down - Cam Kong
