Review Rockin' Johnny's Diner - Ottawa

Always love the Big Johnny here for breakfast. Staff are a very pleasant and it's a nice genuine diner atmosphere. I may come back later today for the milk shakes :)

Waiter was super friendly. Service was quick and super accommodating. The home fries were super unique and delicious. When we asked if we could have cash back at the end of our meal the waiter even ran to his car to grab us some coins for our bus fare. Overall the food was decent but the service was incredible.

I haven’t been here in 15 years, was in the area for the first time in a while… so much amazing nostalgia! The food was impeccable, got the Bog Johnny Breakfast. Although the sausages were a tad greasy, everything else was great. Great service as well, the ladies were on top of everything! Thank you for a fantastic experience

Youre better off making this food at home. They used frozen strawberries and over ripe bananas. The hashbrowns were the blandest I’ve ever tasted. To be fair though, My french toast and milkshake were good and their prices are cheap but theres no point in paying if the food is gross.

The waitress misunderstood my order, then tried to tell me I was wrong about what was clearly written on the menu. We eventually figured it out but sadly when my food came out it was not very satisfying. I picked off the cheese, thinking that's where the off taste was coming from but I'm not sure if that was it. Not the worst food I've ever eaten, but far from anything I'm prepared to pay such an expensive price for. Definitely won't be returning.

It's ok. Solid breakfast, but busy. Last time I was there server brought out the wrong breakfast, and didn't bring my juice. Nice ppl - but feels like everyone is overrun. Could use more help when it's busy. It's a nice place to go, and I'll go again for breakfast. Just nothing exceptional from food, location, or services perspective

Had the sausages and eggs and classic eggs Benedict. They were generous portions and very tasty. Our server was friendly, efficient and professional. I believe she was the only server at the time and was able to look after several tables at the same time.

I ordered here through SkipTheDishes for the first time. It definitely not be my last. The food tasted great and the portion size was big. We had Johnny's big breakfast and the meat lovers poutine with hollandaise sauce.

The decor is reminiscent of a 50's style diner, and I think that's possibly the nicest thing about this place. The service is prompt and quick, but we went on a dead hour with not many people.

Food is okay.

I ordered the smoked meat special and the smoked meat tasted very salty, out of the package kind of deal. The sandwich itself was nothing special. The mushroom soup was pretty good. The poutine was good ratio of gravy to fries, but is very salty.

The club sandwich my SO ordered was standard. Nothing remarkable.

Prices are fair... however there are other diners in the area that are less pricy and the food tastes much better, imho.

The decor is dated, and I understand that it is the entire point. But why have rusty juke-boxes on every table that don't work? I don't even think they were working 2 decades ago when I went as a child. If you are going for the decor of the time, at least make it look like the best version of that time period.

Recently I've only really gone for breakfast. Their pancakes were okay I guess, the bacon was thin and extra salty. Eggs were greasy. I don't normally eat potato, but I tried a few and they were actually decent. Tasted a little sweet, and like they were seasoned with chicken bouillon.

Their coffee is about average for your run of the mill greasy spoon. Nothing special. Sometimes burnt.

The service has been hit or miss. Once we had an amazing server who was really on top of everything. Food was fast and correct, and hot. Coffee never dipped below half, and made sure we had plenty of milk/cream for our coffee. Another time with a different server, had to practically beg for coffee and cream, food took a long time, and was 'warm'.

Wouldn't really recommend it.

Consistently fantastic. I've been frequenting this diner for years, and I have never been less than impressed. The food is delicious and well-priced, the staff are friendly, and the diner itself is comfortable and familiar. I have never once had a complaint or issue while there.

If you like diners, and are in the neighborhood, I would absolutely recommend Rockin' Johnny's.

Very bad experience. Even if this is the last place on earth that serves food, ill skip the meal. not clean, not good service and expensive for a diner. I could've paid less or same at a much better restaurant, better service and better quality food. For God's sake, dont try their steak, very cheap piece of meat.

A heartbreak hotel for frozen foods; a microcosm of the Westgateian decay. Rockin' Johnny's is a mirror to the Westgate Mall that surrounds it. While perhaps a solid 6/10 in the early 90's, it has now fallen into a dismal, dark place that will only be ended when that whole property is mercifully bulldozed and replaced with something... anything... Their only saving grace is their milkshakes, which are admittedly delicious, but everything else tastes like it has been frozen since the 1950s and mass produced in the cheapest feasible way. I do have a bit of nostalgia surrounding this place, especially the aforementioned malt milkshakes, but I sadly will never return again after several terrible visits in the last 5-10 years.

Oh, plus the jukeboxes seem unresponsive and have stolen probably $1.50 from me over the course of my lifetime. I want that $1.50 back.

Great breakfast! I'm never disappointed with their breakfast.

Revolting. Dont bother. Although the name and the concept of the restaurant sounds fun (as we did) the food is awful. Enormous plate fulls of bad food. Greasy chips, unidentifable meat, and just piles of bland, poorly cooked stodge.
Awful.

Food prices lean a tiny bit towards higher but food is good for 50s style food. Nothin too fancy but adequate and close to a couple hotels. Breakfast looked good but only til 11am

I love their poutine

Typical diner food and typical diner quality. Fast service but our server seemed to hate her job.
