Great place if you are in the mood for Japanese food. Service was great..the only weird part is that they do not accept debit cards.. only cash or credit.

This restaurant being one of the good AYCE sushi in Ottawa. But in fact, it is not the best - I think. The foods is quitely good but sometimes the taste is not consistent. But, if you are talking about the price, it could be said that the price is quitely fair for an AYCE Sushi Restaurant. Anyway, the service is quitely fast, but sometimes it comes with an indifferent act.
Despite being one of the better AYCE sushi places in Ottawa, it's still not great. Depending on when you go, wait times to get in can be long. The service is fast, but often unfriendly and inconsistent (sometimes they'll be attentive with water, sometimes not, etc) and it's not uncommon for orders to go missing or for you to get other people's orders. The food also suffers from being inconsistent. Most of the non-sushi items are consistently good, but the actual sushi varies from alright to good, but nothing great and like most AYCE sushi places, most of the fish is mislabeled so they can sell you something cheap under the guise of something good. Overall, I'd say it's worth it for the cheap lunch price, but otherwise, you could do better.
Went for dinner, waited 5 min to be seated and then went crazy with the Ipad ordering! The amount of choice is impressive. There is vegetarian options, meats, fried items, soups and of course so many kinds of sushi! Service was quick and water was refilled often. Food was delicious and fresh. Items arrived fast and exactly how we ordered it. Great place!

This place is always packed. Sushi ordering through iPad and every time, they get my order right. Service is efficient and friendly, but that's it. There are the expected rolls on the menu, as well as a few extra original ones too. The restaurant is large and clean and if you get their early, you can score a larger table. The sushi itself was fresh and the rice was more or less perfect.
Pretty decent sushi and overall dinning experience. I have found that in recent months that it seems as though the quality is starting to dwindle a bit. But maybe that is just in my own experience.
Pretty decent sushi and quite a typical AYCE sushi place. Nice and clean but service isn't very good as you have to ask the staff for everything, even items that are obvious like soy sauce. The tablets make it quite easy to order but takes the staff quite a bit of time to bring your food. As we lack options for reasonable priced sushi places in Ottawa, I would still come back here since it's pretty good value.
Beat sushi place i had in ottawa. Food was great, sushi fresh, v good service and good ambiance. Will be back! Highly recommended keep up the good job.
This is our favorite spot to have sushi in Ottawa. They have a great enviroment and fast service. Not to mention that the food is delicious.
The dinner prices are a bit high, without that many more options to chose from. Some items also has a order limit per person.
I really like this all you can eat sushi restaurant. The sushi is always made fresh and honestly at a great pace. The only thing I don't really like about them is the portion they give for the soups. Another thing would be the way the rice items or some cool items taste. However in general this restaurant is great! Also because they have the iPad option!
I come here all the time, fresh & fast AYCE sushi. It is always good! They also have alot of options for people who don't like sushi - so that's a huge bonus. Clean and nice atmosphere.
Pretty good AYCE sushi place. Great, fresh food and surprisingly prompt service even when busy (been there for lunch and dinner, weekdays and weekends). My only issue is their takeout; you just can't! They just won't answer their phone! Which means that if I want to order, I would have to get there. I brought this up once while paying my bill at the front, and the woman just shrugged her shoulders, not in a cold or dismissive way, but in a stuff-just-happens sort of way. Really weird as they clearly have a takeout menu.
This continues to be one of Ottawa's better AYCE sushi joints. The iPad ordering system is convenient, although you have to wait for a server to come and approve each order before it is submitted. Still miles better than the paper version though!
I had a surprisingly good experience here: I wasn't expecting much from a sushi place where you pay one set price and eat as much as you want, but I was pleasantly surprised!
The service is extremely quick and friendly, helped along by the menus they offer you on an electronic tablet. The waiters/waitresses don't come by to ask how you are doing, but you can click a button and within 30 seconds they are asking you how they can help.
The sushi itself was quite good. Not the best, but for all-you-can-eat? Amazing.
Surprisingly good all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. Lots of seating room on the inside, and excellent service. A large selection for both lunch and dinner makes this place an ideal choice if you are looking to sample sushi as well as other Japanese items.
Ordering through iPads makes the experience that much easier. Helpful tip… arrive early if you are coming for lunch to avoid the crowds.
Don't eat sushi, but loved eating here. Went with some colleagues for lunch. There was a great variety of non-sushi dishes on the menu (great for me!). The iPad ordering went very well once we figured it out, and most food came out quickly (only the tempura was rather slow). Would recommend going with a group of 4-8 people.
Really like this ayce sushi place! Using the iPad seems to keep track of orders easier and food comes pretty quick
Cool menu, decent food. 1. Menu with an ipad is far more outstanding compared to other sushi restaurants
2. food is okay. the dinner deal is a little expensive but worth it. i like their special role with fruit and mango sauce. it's like not a main dish but not a dessert. Sashimi is fresh. But the dimsum looked old for me.
Good times and good food!. Been to this location and the brampton location many times and really impressed. Sushi is always fresh and everything always tastes really good. Fast service and the servers are very helpful in explaining what each dish consists of. Definitely one of the better sushi places in ottawa!
Good sushi for AYCE Quality. 168 Sushi is one of the better AYCE sushi buffet places in Ottawa. If you look past the questionable, hit & miss service, the food is actually good. The Merivale location (I can't speak for the St. Laurent one, haven't been there in a while) now has iPads for ordering instead of the old notepaper system - which appears to be helping out with staff keeping their orders straight on the 2 occasions I've been there. They also seem to be improving on their customer service - I went today and instead of being completely ignored, a waitress came and asked if we were ordering more, and if we wanted ice cream. Good sushi (for AYCE quality) and improving service, worth a shot if you haven't tried already.
I've been to a lot of all you can eat sushi places in this city, and this is the only one that I do not have anything negative to say about it. Fast, friendly service, and order accuracy! Will definitely keep coming back!
Overall great experience for AYCE sushi and asian food. Love the iPad menu. Not the best service follow up though, as we did miss a plate twice.
Fun and very unique experience. Food tastes super fresh. Good, fast and friendly service. Menu has great variety (including japanese, chinese, thai,..). Definately recommend it to any sushi lovers!
Good food, okay service, bad system. The food was very nice, when it came. One waitress was rude and confrontational, the other one very nice and friendly. The I-pad ordering system might work well when going with 2 or 4 people, it certainly doesn't work properly for a group of 32 - one I-pad for a table of 8 is just not enough, especially if these people are NOT sharing the food.
Favourite all you can eat Japanese buffet. First of all, you gotta love the iPad menus. I am not saying that everything in this place is good, but the stuff we like is really good, like the kalbi, the nigiri and the spicy salmon sushi. There are some service issues, but I think it was fixed when they installed the new ordering system with the iPad. My son would always want to eat here. The kalbi is the best in town.
Going against the grain, but.... Wow, I can't believe all the negative reviews I have been reading about 168 Sushi! My husband and I have gone to this restaurant well over a dozen times in the past couple of years and every single time we are totally amazed at how quick the service is! Whether it is lunch or dinner, busy or relatively empty, any time we have dined at 168 we have been completely impressed with the speedy and accurate fulfillment of our orders . The food is always tremendously satisfying for this sushi addict and I always end up eating too much (my fault, not theirs). Having tried other AYCE sushi restaurants in Ottawa, 168 is head-and-shoulders above the rest in terms of overall experience, in my opinion. Will absolutely be going back and would recommend it to anyone!
Meh. It's definitely not the best AYCE I've been to. The sushi are ok, the warm dishes too. The service is mediocre at best. Everytime I go there with my friends, they always seem unhappy to serve us or are slow on a whole other scale. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The only thing that might be convenient is the price, but I know other places that are better for the same price.
Been here many times and will continue to go here. Decor is very nice. Compared to the other AYCE sushi places I've been in Ottawa, this is one of the better ones simply because of the menu choices. Service used to be better but I still go for the food. A few of their unique items (my favs): Ottawa roll, rock roll, baby mushroom beef roll...
I consider it to be average price for an AYCE sushi place and includes a drink and dessert - be sure to save room for their red bean ice cream- yummy!
Great Food. Easily one of the better all-you-can-eat sushi places in Ottawa. Great food and reasonable price. The service is usually good too, I haven't had any bad experience and I've been there often (it is my go-to place when I'm craving sushi)
Best value for its money in all of Ottawa's AYCE sushi places IMHO! This has been our go-to place for months now since its opening. Never really had any disappointments other than they "forget" your orders sometimes :)
The best sushi buffet in ottawa hands down! I have been to almost all the sushi buffets in ottawa and 168 sushi is my favourite, the food is always fresh, 90% of the staff are nice, the place is amazing, super fast service, and most important is that the food is super delicious. And I have been there maybe 50 times or more no kidding!
Best of the AYCE. Of the All-You-Can-Eat 'sushi' restaurants in Ottawa, 168 seems to have the freshest fare and the most pleasant waiters. I would go here more often than Sushikan on Merivale but they do not have wakame (seaweed salad) on their lunch menu. For that reason alone, I go elsewhere but strictly for fresh fish, fresh dishes, and a clean, welcoming environment, definitely choose 168.
MHK on Merivale is also AYCE but their menu is more Korean inspired. Have someone in your group who doesn't like sushi (that's such a general term now, it's not really fair to say "I don't like sushi," then get them to try the bibimbap at MHK)
Tangent aside, 168 is the best value and quantity of the AYCEs for your money.
Visited 168 earlier this evening with a friend of mine, we normally visit thousand sushi islands in the nepean area at least a couple times a month and all it took was one visit to convince us to switch, the fish portions with sashimi and single piece sushi were at least 50% larger than sushi islands, they had free refills on pop and some amazing menu items like the spicy mayo california rolls and a whole grilled mackarel! Service was fast and very friendly, our cups were always full and we were never without food in front of us. Best all you can eat sushi place in town as far as I know.
Great decor, excellent service. This sushi restaurant has the best decor in town. I have been to Thousand Sushi Islands Buffet in Barrhaven, on Carling, Sawa in Orleans, 168 on St Laurent, etc and this one tops them all. Variety is excellent. They have a lot of sashimi options. The decor is very urban and cool. Unlike other Asian restaurants, the service is also friendly. This is my favourite sushi restaurant in town!
Awesome Service. Me and my 2 roommates came for our first time for the dinner buffet. We got a table right away and ordered some basic sushi...then the owner came over and that's when the fun started. When he found out it was our first time there he started ordering all the best items on the menu. The food started coming and all of it was amazing! And when I say all i mean all....I think we had half the menu on our table at one point. The service and food was exceptionally fast and the owner was telling us about each food and explaining everything. One of the best meals I've had in a while.......sooo much food and unlimited soft drinks and dessert for $25! Banana tempura is a must try there ;) All in all awesome first experience, and I will definitely go back. Kudos to the owner for being so involved with his customers.
Fast filling lunch. Dropped in again for lunch with a couple of friends. Seated quickly in an empty restaurant [11:30 am] but it filled up quickly. As usual food arrived quickly and was fresh and tasty. One exception was sweet potato tempura. Not my choice but I tasted one and it was cold and tasteless.
Must try - Spicy white Tuna - [top right of the ordering page]
It has some spice and very delicious. I choose this place often because of this single dish.
Restaurant is large and I have never waited to be seated even though it has been quite busy.
I recommend this place if you like AYCE sushi.
I love this place, the atmosphere is great, the food is great, service is incredibly fast and it's best bang for your buck as far as all you can eat sushi is concerned. Make sure you reserve a table though because this place gets packed during dinner time.
168 sushi worth a try and then you're hooked. At better prices than sushi kan for what you get, this restaurant is sleek and modern with excellent food and clean washrooms, they switched up our order a bit, but we didn't complain the extra miso soup and spicy crispy california roll were not what we ordered but good none the less. we also got a chicken teriyaky that we had to send back because it was not what we ordered, we would have eaten it except we were stuffed. keep another copy of the menu for yourself just in case, but definitely give it a try
Try it. Like it.. Service is typical for AYCE sushi restaurants, with an improved decor. Price is comparable to Sushi Kan and other AYCE places.
Variety was good. The extra Korean dishes were a welcome change.
The place is relatively new, whereas older sushi places tend to lose quality.
The difference maker is the great booth ambience of this restaurant. More modern than traditional.
168 Sushi. Pretty good for an all you can eat sushi place of that size. The sushi themselves are very good. I find the rice temperature and the soy sauce itself sometimes make a huge difference and this one is A-Okay!
There are plenty of other Japanese / Korean food to choose from within the all you can eat menu which is great too.
The service is typical for an Asian restaurant... Cold and not so caring... But to be honest, I don't go there for the servers.
The price is very fair for the quality and the quantity of food you get!
Great sushi. Kind of expensive. Not many options for lunch. Staff were okay. Service is pretty fast except they miss a lot of your orders if you order too many at once. Nice spacious, dimly lit environment. Modern place.
Excellent AYCE sushi with some nice surprises available to order. The service was excellent. This place was the exact opposite of the other AYCE sushi places in Ottawa. Keep up the good work!
I looooooooove that place, i eat till i drop! The salmon sushi and sashimi was amazing!!! I always older the pork dumpling instead of shrimp, way better imho. Btw if u go to that place before 1:30 pm (time TBD) then its only 12 bucks!! Try it! Order ar different intervals btw to help staff, order most ur requests, and before u done eating first order, send another. Be careful not to over order bcos u'd have to eat it all or pay for leftovers! Stll amazing place. Avoid stuff wiz teriake in them, i tell them not to put that sauce at all to not spoil food taste!
Excellent. It was our 1st fime Tuesday (March 1st, 2011) the restaurant very clean, very modern, staff is also very nice. Food was excellent not too much wait. We will certainly go again. It's worth trying it!
Very promising. I went there on a late Sunday afternoon (around 4pm). The place was not busy, but got a lot busier by the time I left. Although the name says buffet, this is not a buffet restaurant, it's an AYCE.
GOOD: The decor is amazing. Very modern (I would even say sexy). Way more trendy then other AYCE sushi restaurants (i.e. Sushi Kan, 1000 Islands, Totoya). I love it!
There's an excellent variety of items on the menu (pad thai, kimchi, fries, sushi on a chip, fruit sushi, etc.). In general, the food was very good. The BBQ mackerel is actually a whole mackerel pike, and it is delicious.
Free refilled soft drinks, iced tea and green tea are included in the price, and so are the desserts (ice cream and deep fried banana).
The service was good at first, but degraded as the place became busier. I received some sashimi (for which I thought they lost my order) after I got my ice cream.
BAD: The menus are HUGE (way too big and cumbersome). The paper on which we order is a pain. The items are not in numerical order and I frankly think it's a waste of paper. I prefer the method they use at other places where you simply write the item number and the quantity you want.
The sushi fell apart. Perhaps the chefs are inexperienced?
They don't have Interac (cash or credit only), although there is an ATM.
OTHER: They're in the process of getting their liquor license, so you can't get alcoholic drinks for now. But the drink menu looks promising (quite more extensive than other AYCE sushi places).
This could become Ottawa's best AYCE sushi, but I'll have to go back to see if the chefs gain more experience so that my rolls don't fall apart in my plate.
It’s okayish. I have had better sushi. There’s room for improvement I believe. But it is quite good for a all-you-can-eat. While I’m in Ottawa and crave for some sushi, this is my go to place.
The service is quick and they have quite a large variety. The staff is quite attentive and the ambiance is great. Great place to catch up with old friends. This is still my AYCE Sushi place in Ottawa.
Great sushi. I'm very particular with my food but find most items here pretty fresh. Service is ok but we go mostly because of the food. Book in advance as they fill up quickly. You don't pay for the taxes if you pay by cash.
Place was great everything was super fast and efficient. Between great food , sweet desserts and just a good time I gotta say this place is just great
All you can eat buffet. Great selection for vegetarians, easy to order using iPad with pictures. Quick to get our food. Will visit again.
