I LOVE BURGERS. So to rate an establishment 2/5 stars hurts, especially when it's a local eatery with a cool name and friendly staff.
The 'Hintonburger' (their signature) was a huge disappointment. The 6 oz. (locally sourced, organic) patty was ok, as was the bacon, but that's where it stopped. The minuscule & blah bun wasn't fresh, nor unique in taste or texture. The fries were ok, but under-cooked for being fresh-cut(?) Complete it with a can of pop, and for $15 I'd rather eat elsewhere. To be utterly Canadian: sorry folks!!

Food was overall average. The burger patty was well done and the toppings seemed fresh but overall it was hindered by an extremely disappointing bun. I can only describe it as a day old bun maybe.
Fries were excellent. But perhaps the most bizarre thing about this place is the interior. Very unconventional and inconvenient ordering system. There's a small desk where you order. The menu is located above in tiny print so you can only read it when you get up to order. The staff then write your order down and run it to the kitchen in the back where the cooks then bring it out for you. On that note the staff did not look like they wanted to be there. No one was friendly or smiling or anything.
Overall I probably won't be back.

I got the veggie burger combo and had some mixed feelings. The fries were some of the best fries I ever had, and the drink was preserved cold even through the uber eats journey. However, the burger was extremely greasy and not a good mix of ingredients. That might be partly my fault for including pickled vegetables, but I found that the flavour was too sour with the oily bun and patty. The patty was falafel-inspired but far too crumbly. It fell apart as I ate it. Great fries but maybe skip out on the veggie burger if you don’t like extremely greasy foods.

The resto has an overall comfy feel with nice, interesting decor but a bit chilly in the winter. The menu choices were rather limited; however, I was told they were having issues with a supplier. I ordered the Hintonburg combo with a side of gravy. It was good but, imo, not worth almost 20$. My main disappointment was the 40 minute wait for my takeout order because they forgot about my order but I was refunded fully which was really quite generous of them.

They make amazing burgers! Their beef is always made fresh and cooked to order, so be ready to wait a few minutes when you place your order, this is not fast food service. In fact, their burgers are sooooo good, they often close early because they've sold out.
On the rare days when they have a few leftover burgers, they donate it instead of throwing it away.
Browse the Parkdale Market for other goods or take your burgers to the nearby park/playground where there's plenty of benches and picnic tables.
Be sure to check their website/Facebook as their hours change throughout the year.
Note too they only take cash payments.

Had a burger with bacon and cheese, a small fries and a milkshake and it cost $24. Prices are way too high for what you get. The food does taste good, just not $24 good.

It was clean when I walked into the restaurant. I was curious of this place as it's not too far from work and from some of the reviews I had read. Good and bad.
Both my partner and I were greeted and served in a timely manner and received our food fresh and hot. The prices are comparable to any other burger joint, the only difference to me is that Hintonburger is worth the money.
Would definitely go back to eat on another payday.
One concern is that there wasn't a mat at the door to dry your boots so the floors could pose a potential hazard to customers.

My gf and I picked up 2 small cheese burgers with fries (total bill 30$). My burger was good, but my biggest disappointment was the fact that I was served prefrozen French fries instead of fresh homemade cuts fries!!! Really?? Yes I would expect eating frozen French fries at Burger King or at Harvey’s Burger, but not at Hintonburger! My question to Hintonburger... Why? Why not serving fresh cuts homemade fries? Sorry but I was expecting better quality junk food for 30$! Ok some people would say “listen lady this is a burger place, don’t make a big fuss about the fries”... Alright, in this case you shouldn’t advertise your food as “Fresh - Local - Handmade”!!

Use to be good. Paid $13 for a burger(ONLY) to go. When I got home I found cheese on my burger (when I specifically asked for no cheese - allergic so I can’t eat it now). When I got there the new location looked rundown inside and no one was anywhere to be found and no customers so I was questioning if they were even open . When I finally got someones attention I was met with rudeness instead of kind service because I was confused about where their menu was to order from. Overall I will NEVER go back there. Not only can I not eat this expensive burger but the service and location was horrible.

Stopped in Saturday between lunch and dinner. Had great service and was provided with a coloring book and crayons for the kids. They LOVED their huge pogos and I had the Hintonburger with bacon and cheese. So tasty, you could tell everything was fresh. We'll be back!

Over priced for what you get. I found the dive aesthetic obnoxious. The location is terrible. If you want to take your kids to the bathroom be prepared to smell nothing but chlorine and pole dancers. Their onion rings taste like they were soaked in Lipton's chicken noodle soup. Won't go again.

I called in twice to place an order, one week apart. First time they just said hey had no chicken so I cancelled my order. First time I’ve heard of a fast food joint running out of chicken.
The second time no one answered the phone. I checked google and it said they were busy so I biked in. When I got there I noticed only one table was busy and they weren’t answering the phone because the staff were chatting in the back room. I had to ring a bell to get their attention. AGAIN they had no chicken.
This place seems to have become a bit of a joke with time. Not trying again.

Once again, very very disappointing. Long wait and when it's not the poutine that has no sauce, it's the fries that aren't cooked. Let's not talk about the "pogo" that was... Well I don't even know what that was.....
I gave it 4 tries since it's near our house. But never again for me and my family.

I had the hintonburger this past week ...I have had it previously and it was delicious however this past week it was just Ok ....first of all I called in my order and came to pick it up I wasn't late , when I got it home it was stone cold ...I only live 10 mins away ....the bill was nearly 20 dollars for my burger deep fried dill pickles that were greasy this time and my pepsi ...I think I will try somewherelse next time ...sorry hintonburger you are slipping

Everyone at our wedding this past weekend raved about how the food was so amazing. The salads were great and the burger were so juicy and melt in your mouth.
We could not have picked a better caterer to serve our guests! They were friendly and very professional.

I must say I have been here a few times, and have always loved the food. But today on International Hamburger Day I was not too happy. My burger was sub par, and my fries even worse. I will give it another try but for the price I would of expected better. And wow, savings of only $1 whoopeee.

What happened? Location move has changed everything!? My bf and I went (his 1st and last visit) for dinner. The restaurant was quiet and lame. No music in background or TVs (I thought you bought a bigger for more) the atmosphere was creepy!! The burgers were so bad.... buns were soggy, meat was processed texture and flavour was awful. There are so many choices for great burgers in Ottawa and unfortunately this is no longer on my list. I will not return. It was a waste of 35 bucks!!

I've been a long time fan of Hintonburger. If you're charging 15 -18 for a burger and fries , the fries shouldn't be frozen.
