Service was excellent but not overpowering . The food was great . This is one of my favourite restaurants for business or casual dining .

Van Halen and Queen playing, attentive staff (like as I'm finishing my first beer, she's asking if I want another) and THE BEST tuna I have ever tasted, cooked to perfection. Bloody good restaurant this!!!!
Best Ribs in town. They literally melt in thé mouth. Thé Tennessee Ice Tea was spectacular. The service was very good and there is ample seating. The music was not too loud to enable a super catch up. A must visit !
Ambiance:
They are currently going through renovations but it was still nice. They open the windows completely and it become an open space. It does get very busy without reservations.
Food:
Fish tacos: large quantity enough to fill you up or be shared. It was tasty
Chicken tacos: found them to be better then the fish
Sweet Potatoe Fries: really good
Burgers: good, a little dry if over cooked but good
Alfredo Pasta: it was flavourful, but the only concern it lacked consistency there were 3 of us who ordered the same pasta but each of us recieved different quantity.
Chicken Wings: really good! Crispy on the outside and perfectly flavored
Cheesecake: Good
Menu is diverse and the food and drinks are great. Location being in the heart of the Byward Market is quite nice and the service was decent, but the interior/atmosphere is rather forgettable and boring. Overall, I'd say it's a bit overpriced, but the free birthday entree makes it worth it.
This is really just an addition to my last review. I really like the food and drinks, and the servers are always nice and attentive, but the apps are definitely not worth it. Quite over priced for being lower quality than your average pub.
I came with a few friends on St-Patrick's day and regardless of how busy it was, the service was great. The waiter was very friendly and patient as we were a little bit of a pain because some of us came late and were waiting for them for nearly half an hour. Once everyone came he took our order and the food came very quickly
I ordered the St-Patrick's Poutine which had the typical things in a poutine, caramelized onions and bacon. It was fantastic! I asked for some hot sauce to just add a kick to it but the hot sauce there really wasn't great. It might just be because I like things very spicy but it wasn't enough for me. Regardless of that, it was fantastic!

The cactus size Caesar is always awesome. I'm never disappointed when I come here. The food is always good value for price and my last visit was my best! Lettuce wraps were excellent. Get them!
Drinks with friends at the Cactus can get really fun really quickly! Music is great. They do $10 triples all day, every day! If you are looking to start out the night and you're on a student's budget this is where to start.
This is one of my favourite spots for a larger group because they have something for everyone. Great cocktails, large menu and there's always lots of space in the restaurant so you never feel crowded or overlooked by your server.
I'm a big fan of this place. I think they have great service, plenty of seating so you don't have to wait around for a table. I like how they have their big windows that open up so you can enjoy the byward market scenery and enjoy the weather in the summer ! I always go their for their steak fajitas, so delicious and they definitely don't skimp you on the food. I would recommend this place any day :)
I've never actually eaten here but my boyfriend and I have gone a couple time for drinks and we've always had a phenomenal experience. The bartenders are always personable and friendly and very accommodating. While I can't speak for the food, if you're looking for a place to drink and have a relaxing and fun evening I definitely recommend it!
Always a good experience. I've eaten here a couple of times and have never been disappointed. The food here is generally very good - I love the buttersquash ravioli and nachos. Burgers are OK. I've also heard good things about the tacos. The atmosphere is also quite enjoyable, I will definitely be coming back more.

I didn't have those problems. It doesn't surprise me that a big, family/sports/whatever mega-restaurant would have such divisive reviews. I don't normally like them either. But I didn't have any trouble with my meal here--service was quick and attentive, the noise level wasn't too bad, and my food was tasty. I had a lamb sandwich on a sort of crusty bread bun. It was tender and tasted great. Drinks were standard fare, run-of-the-mill margarita. Price wasn't too unreasonable.
Lively atmosphere, good food. Fun place, feels like a party. Very good apps and main. Fajitas were great. Good drinks. Good service.

Love it!. I go to Blue Cactus far more than my wallet would like but I just can't get enough!
It is a bit pricey, but for me it's worth the price. A lot of complaints in the reviews here are about the taste of the food, and I have to admit some of the meals on the menu are just not very good. I'm a big alfredo fan, and I was severely disappointed with theirs (I didn't even eat half of it). The same is true with other things on the menu. However, there are some sparkling gems on the menu. The steak pene is fantastic and filling, and the butternut squash ravioli is to die for! I'm a big meat eater, but I absolutely adore the butternut squash ravioli. They also have the best nachos I've found yet.
The restaurant is also good for kids... if you go early. They provide little baskets full of things like crayons and cracker packets to keep the kids entertained while they wait for food, as well as a bunch of napkins and wet naps for any messes. This is great, but the restaurant is gets really loud in the evening (around 6 or 7) which isn't great for small kids.
This restaurant appeared to me as a direct competition to milestones or Moxies. Price range I say it sits between them too milestones on the upper scale. Food wise. Decent good portion. Wine selection I can't complain. ( had a Californian and a Spanish wine ) Atmosphere is a middle ground again of milestones and Moxies. Servers are okay. But milestones & Moxies just destroy this restaurant when it comes to that. I'd recommend it. If milestones is too far and you want something a little more classy looking that Moxies.
Drinks. I go here every so often just for the strawberry sangria.
Good Service. Food was questionable, but the service was prompt and overall great. We all had mediocre and overpriced burgers -- they were a tad dry. I had the "Salsa Burger" (or something along those lines) and it was fairly unique. Portions were generous. I don't really have any complaints, but it just wasn't a place that I fell in love with.
I only have good things to say about the blue cactus, our food was great and arrived in good time. Our server was enthusiastic and interacted happily with the two children we had with us! World go back for sure!!

This burger was actually very good. I had it with a side salad but should have got the fries.
Lunch fare. I had the chicken fajita on the open air/indoor dining room. It was food happy hour for the bar area which we were sitting in. My food arrived hot and it was filling. I ordered a specialty marguarita and it was lovely. The location was perfect and we were able to see the comings and going of people in the market.
Enjoyed the meal. Fajitas were tasty. Service was good. Bring a sweater though, it was cold on there! Overall, will come back again.
I'm surprised to see this restaurant has such a low rating, I found the food to be exceptionally good. I had the seared tuna salad and it was fantastic. The half priced margaritas on Saturday's are a bonus, but listen to the waitress don't have them blended - have them on the rocks. All in all this is a great restaurant in z great location.

Great place to start a night out on the town. This place is so spacious and you feel as if you are never rushed. Love the options for drinks and menu items.
